Nook app won't work properly - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I have a magazine subscription through B&N and the magazines won't open properly on my SGT. The app opens, but I am left with a black screen. However, when I click on article view, the text opens.
I installed this app a couple of weeks ago and it worked perfectly. I was able to download and read all of my books and magazines. But about a week ago I started having this problem.
So today I uninstalled the Nook app, then downloaded it and installed it again. But I am having the same problem (btw, I do not have Touchwiz installed).
Is anybody else experiencing this, and is there a fix?

Nook app works fine for me with magazines. No problems at all.

same here, no problems with nook app and magazines even after touchwiz. Try uninstall and make sure you delete the cache or data files that sometimes linger behind.

I tried this several times. There were no cache files but I did delete the data files and uninstalled. I downloaded the app again and installed, then had to sign in to B&N. All of my magazines and books showed up. But when I tap on the books, they show up on the screen and can be read. But when I tap on the magazines, I get a black screen. Like I said before, I can read them in "Article View," but don't get any pictures, even in article view.

[Solved] New Google Play .apk?

Just wondering since Google is updating the android market to a newer version that's all encompassing (music, apps, books, movies) called Google Play, if our rooted KF's are going to see the update OTA or if we'll need to sideload it? If sideloading will be the option, will it be the same as sideloading the current market .apk or will we need to employ new steps? Thx
Here is link to apk from rootzwiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20095-android-market-apk-google-play-3612/
Update: Got both my KF & Infuse 4G updated!
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
I dunno, but my market shows all the play stuff when I'm in it.

My Kindle Fire (rooted CM9) got the OTA update and it removed my market app and added the play app in its place, i didnt even realize it till a couple of minutes ago lol
I got the "upgrade" the last time i opened the Market. Hadn't heard anything about it prior, so I was kinda freaked out. I didn't know what to do for a second.
Thanks for this, as I got totally screwed by Google on the update. I clicked "what's this?", my web browser opened up, and afterwards my Market icon was gone, as well as the upgrade process. To re-install Market requires a hard reset! Freaking Google. I hate not being in control of my own damn phone.
Works great on the Inspire 4G, thanks
Go into the settings of your phone, then apps (all), then go to the market app.
Do a 'Clear Data' on the Market app.
Next time you start up your Market app you should have to agree to terms, and then the app will update to Google Play.

Nope, wasn't in the list! Totally gone. Good thing the .apk was there above, disguised as a .zip file. Installed fine.
So I was able to install the google play apk on my unrooted kindle fire and I can now browse the market, but the only thing is that it forces close when I try to download app updates or any new apps. Any ideas?
Installed Google Play on my Rooted Kindle fire, running Stock ROM, it had removed the 'MARKET' and added 'Play Store', i guess its the same thing? i dont know the difference? can anyone explain please?
Thanks
They basically just renamed the app from Market to Google Play. Does the same things as before. This is not the first time it has been updated.
On my Rezound phone, I renamed it back to Market and changed the Icon back to the old icon.
**Edit** Just did it to the KF now too. Screen cap of it below:

I'm stuck in this very same loop. I can do everything but download an app or let it try to update an app I have installed. So far, I'm stumped.

Try clearing the cache and data for the app and see if that will help. That's worked for me in the past. Hope this helps.

I did clean data, reload old 3.4.4 market, after couple of minutes it got updated to google play and now all works like it use to.
I'm rooted on 6.3

Fixed: Play Books don't download for Offline Reading

I like to read on the N7, and initially, there were some of my old books marked properly with the blue dot (available for offline reading).
I recently purchased a new book. While it downloads in a heartbeat on my other Android devices, on the N7 it's been stuck at barely a blue hint on the pin circle. No change in days.
I clicked on the other pins, and all I managed to do is make my books now UNavailable for offline reading - and they are not downloading anymore.
Has anyone here had a similar experience? If so, did you find a way to fix it?
They have done a little behind the scenes fixes because of a few interactive magazines not downloading. I've emailed them about it and a few days ago they emailed me back saying it's fixed and recommended clearing data and cache on the play magazines app. It fixed my issues.
Thank you! I'm going to attempt that.

Thank you again for your suggestion! Here's how I fixed my issue:
In settings, I located the Play Book app. There was no way to clear the cache, but I was able to uninstall the updates and restore the app to the original factory settings.
Then I opened play books again, chose my Google account, and all my books downloaded very swiftly.
Glad it worked out for you you are probably good to update it to the latest version.

Google Play Magazines

Hi guys,
I have been a Nexus 10 user since its release, my other android devices currently are a Nexus 4 and a i9305t, previously a Gnex and a Nexus S.
All my android devices are rooted and on a custom rom.
Primarily, the Nexus 10 has been difficult due to battery life and charging mostly. I have been using PA 3.0x for the past few months, and I decided to update to PA 3.6 with the latest Gapps yesterday, since then I have not been able to resolve my "Google Play Magazine has stopped" error.
I have at this point done a full factory reset, formatted the internal SD card, and now tried a different rom (Revolt 4.4) all of which have been unsuccessful at fixing the Google Play Magazine app..
I have googled for a solution with very little success. I am hoping that someone here can help me out.
cheers
Marcel
have you tried reinstalling (maybe redownloading) gapps. or uninstall play magazines and reinstall from the market?
good luck

Hi Sdmark,
I have attempted to uninstall GP Magazines app using titanium backup, and reinstalling via the playstore. I have also tried a factory reset with a different/older set of gapps with no success.
This issue has been resolved as of 45 mins ago. I have been talking to Google Play store support from Utah (I am from Melbourne, Australia)
after submitting my error logs, the issue seems to have resolved itself automatically.
I had done nothing on the tablet since talking to the support (about 3 hours ago) till 45 mins ago where I just decided to give it a go while sitting on the porcelain throne and no FC this time. So as far as I can tell, the fix was something on their end of things, at least thats what i suspect... the FC happens just as GP Magazines signs in.
*im an idiot, problem is still there in landscape.. didnt even think about the different viewing modes.. so the problem is only happening while landscape.
Thanks the assistance though, very much appreciated.
edit: Please dont close the thread, I have realized that Google Play Magazines does not have the problem when in portrait mode... the moment i go to landscape it crashes... is this a rom issue?
bump! still a problem, 99% instant FC when in landscape mode... (1% is when the magazine is opened from portrait, it sometimes doesnt FC when tilted to landscape.. the moment you leave the magazine and get back to the magazine selection menu in Landscape, it will FC)
pretty much the only reason i pick up this tablet over any other device lying around is for magazine reading
I have no idea. I actually use the magazines app too, and have had no problems with it. I'm using cleanrom.
I've had the same problem, does seem to work for a minute or 2 if I clear all data and reinstall the app ...but after collecting my account data it FC's again - this has been going on for months and Google Play support haven't been able to reproduce or fix the issue for me....really frustrating

[Q] Market Installs Stopped Working

Hey guys, I have a NSTG (1.2.1) thats rooted with NookManager, setup Gapps, installed Search Market, etc. Everything was working great after initial setup. I didn't use the Nook for a couple months after that but picked it back up recently and had some problesm: Dropbox would give a fatal error when attempting to sync, apps would not install via Search Market or from a push from the Play store website even though the device did show up on the list.
I was able to resolve some of the issues (Dropbox) when I realized I was being stupid and just had no space on the SD card because it was still formatted for NookManager and repartitioned it but the Market installs still do not work at all. Search Market shows results and I get to the point where I accept permissions and then a notification bubble appears in the status bar of the Nook and immediately disappears. Push from Play store site does nothing. I'd really rather not have to restore from backup/reroot/etc. Anyone seen similar issues? Thanks!
Usually a logcat will tell you exactly what the problem is.
Thanks, I'll post one soon. I'm on vacation right now and only have my MacBook, not sure how to get a logcat at the moment....

I'm having exactly the same issue and it's really annoying. Went to download Opera Mobile and a File Manager today but nothing downloads. If you go to 'My Apps' in the market they show as 'downloading' but nothing is actually happening.
Wonder if our access has been blocked?
I solved this problem, delete market data with titanium.
Thanks will give that a go tonight!

I'm going to sideload Titanium tonight and give this a go. Going to feel really stupid if that's all it is! I'll report back...
EDIT: Okay, I installed Titanium last night and wiped the Market app data, but had no change in behavior. Finding an app through Search Market then attempting to install does the same thing: notification bubble appears in the Nook status bar but then immediately disappears...

Fire 10 (2017) - Google play apps won't open due to sd card error

Hello,
Yesterday, several apps I downloaded through the google play store (sideloaded weeks ago, never had any issues) and one from the amazon app store are grayed out and I get an error when I try opening them that says "SD card not available" and goes on to tell me the SD card where the app installed isn't available. I've never had an SD card in the tablet. I can click "download again," but of course that brings me to the amazon app store.
I have tried re-installing, force stopping and clearing caches, restarting, and updating apps. The weird thing is I can get to the apps if I take another route in ie. if I go on google maps (not affected by issue) and go to a restaurant's website, it opens in Chrome (app affected by issue). Then, Chrome runs normal.
If it makes any difference, the apps that don't work are Chrome, Gmail, YouTube, Memrise, Hulu, and Google Sheets.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I had the same problem today with Aquamail. I went to another launcher that I had installed through the Play Store, and uninstalled it from there. Then a reinstall worked. And then the icon for the app appeared in both launchers. I have no idea why it said it was an error with the SD card. There's just some bug with whatever new update they gave us. But that's the only app I had it occur on.

Hmm, I tried uninstalling the app in every way I can think of - including through the play store - and no dice. I have also found that when I uninstall the app, the icon doesn't go away. When I uninstall from the play store and try to uninstall from the home screen, it says the app wasn't found in the list of installed apps. But when I tap to open, it gives the same SD card error.
I'm still really puzzled by the fact this isn't limited to google play apps...does that mean it's something with the OS?

The way I uninstalled was by going to another launcher (total launcher) . You tried that also? I only had it happen with that one app, and it was from the Google Play Store. As far as why it's happening, I really don't know. But it seems to have happened to me today, which makes me think it had something to do with an update either yesterday or today.

Oh no I haven't tried another launcher - didn't know what that was until I just looked.
I also notice that every app I update grays out now. Newly installed apps don't appear on the home screen. However, they all open fine if I open it through the app store or another functioning app. So I'm wondering if I uninstall it through total launcher if it won't even appear on the home screen once re-installed.
How do you install a launcher? I installed one, but when I hit the home button, it brings me back to the default Amazon launcher.

It sounds like this won't help you, but I'll point you to it anyway. Look for the XDA thread called New: Any Launcher, No Root (Launcher Hijack V3). This talks about installing other launchers and hijacking the home button. Sorry that I can't think of anything else. You might try I factory reset and start over, but you may not want to do that, and it may not solve your problem.

Sorry, I didn't see one of your posts. I have also had the problem where anything I install does not show on the fire launcher home screen. But it will show on other launchers. This started yesterday or today for me, so something in one of the updates caused this. If you use another launcher it will probably solve the problem of not seeing the apps on a home screen. But you said it did not help your problem with those that you cannot delete. Evie is a nice launcher that is simple to use, so you might start with that one.
I think I was wrong in what I told you before. I thought I was able to uninstall aquamail which said something about requiring the SD card. But it just happened to me with a different app, and I get that sd card error. So I think I was misled because I uninstalled it and then reinstalled over in the other launcher. Then when I looked back on the fire launcher, the icon was there and it could be clicked. But if you really want to get rid of it and not reinstall, I don't see a way to do that yet. Sorry to have been on the wrong track.

Okay, I learned a little more. I'm not sure if all of these steps are necessary. But I went to settings, apps and games, All, Home Pages. That's the fire launcher. I cleared its cache and data and force stopped. Then when it is launched again, the apps that couldn't be deleted are now no longer showing. However, if you had arranged all the icons in some kind of order, now it is all alphabetical. I also think that newly installed apps do show, but I haven't really done much testing with it yet. I'm mostly sticking with another launcher. So I don't really care about the fire launcher, but once in awhile, I might like to use it. So it's good to see that we can clean these things up.
EDIT: Ignore what I said about it now being alphabetical. It seems to be in the order that apps are added.
Got the same Problem now, but on a new Fire HD8!
Apps were running fine yesterday or a day before and now 3 apps installed from Google Play Store are Grayed out and give the error "SD-Card not Available" and i should insert the same SD-Card... (never had extra any inside). And its only Apps from Play Store. All three Apps are Smarthome apps: Philips HUE, Kasa and Yonomi. The funny Thing.. If I open The Google Playstore and and search my app, then i can either deinstall or open app. And if i open app from there it works...he starts app with no Problem.
Curious this happens to others at the same time...

No, i am using the Stock Launcher and didnt do any changes to that. Besides that i do have the Option to deinstall the Apps and the Apps are still running fine, but only when opened from Play Store.
And i dont think deleting cache or forcing stop of App will do any good as long as the Apps itslf still work.
Yea, there must have been some minor update. He showed me something in system updates, but OS is still 5.6.0.0

I'm talking about clearing cache, data, and force stop of the Home Pages app itself. I'm not talking about the apps that you installed. Try it and see what happens.

Well not exactly the same... In Your Post you say to Stop/End the Launcher.. Thats different to Appstore.
I dont like fondling around with launchers... And i dont want other Launchers than Stock or missing/deleted Icons And Installing other Launcher to fix a problem is no alternative
You are right that I overlooked the part about App Store. I assumed that person was telling you to do the same thing that I did.
You don't have to install other launchers. I was just giving an example of how you could see the apps and do what you needed to do by installing another launcher. I wrote that part before I realized what the "fix" was for the stock launcher. But if you want the original stock launcher to work, you will need to do the steps that I mentioned. Clear cache and data and then force stop for Home Pages, which is the name of the stock launcher

I had did a factory reset three times in two days, and then couldn't get PLAY STORE or any apps downloaded through it to show up on the HOME screen. your suggestion of clearing the "Home Pages" cache and data brought everything working properly. Thank you.

I learned that the easiest way is just doing a force stop on the Home Pages app. Clearing cache and data means a little more work when the launcher comes back up (it wants you to step through some instructional screens, but I think you can exit out of them) . But if you don't have another launcher to switch to, I don't think you can do the force stop while you are actually using Home Pages as the home launcher. I can't be sure about that because I am rooted now, so the behavior might be different if I was not rooted.
Clearing cache and data probably works for all cases, so maybe that's the way to go. I've made it a little more confusing by adding the detail that I just did in that first paragraph!
Slowly does it

Hello,
Yesterday, several apps I downloaded through the google play store (sideloaded weeks ago, never had any issues) and one from the amazon app store are grayed out and I get an error when I try opening them that says "SD card not available" and goes on to tell me the SD card where the app installed isn't available.

I had this problem. Tried everything to no avail
But I left my fire 10 on all day as I use alexa a lot and the greyed out icons slowly came back.
Restarted the tablet and they where greyed out again but they came back quicker this time.
I know it's a pain to leave it on but something seems to be running slow in the os,
Not a permanent fix but it may help until an update os comes out
