Anyone have the update file they're using at the store? Not the one thats floating around from July 18, its not final.

I'm looking for this as well.
What lol? The one that's been floating around here as the op said isn't the one tmo is using on the sdcards or sending ota and final builds don't have the debugging tool.. So what's funny?
I too want the actual update tmo is using.

and where would that be (in the forums)? The only link I found was to the test build (same one posted here).. again, any ROM with the debug tool enabled is not a final release build.

Read my edit in my other post.. that too is the test build
This is the OTA version and the version on the SDCards:
Build-2.09.531.1 CL54593 release-keys
Software-2.09.531.1
Baseband: 12.55.60.25P_26.09.04.26_M
its what we are looking for, it is the official version being released by T-Mobile

There isnt much difference from the stock 2.2.1 that you had and 2.3.4 that the gingerbread update brings, minor differences in the notification tray, some item counts (like unread email) but nothing major. There are bug fixes, bluetooth for example but the majority of differences are not in the UI.
You wont be able to apply the official version since the version posted here on july 18 build number is higher then what tmo is pushing out it will just error out. You will have to find a way to go back to 2.2.1.. I believe directions to do that can be found in the thread that contains the version you installed. You are not alone, a lot of people installed that not knowing it wasnt actually the 'final' build, a lot of issues have cropped up including no email, gps not working and the radio being unpredictable. Hopefully you can go back to 2.2.1, just follow the steps in that thread.
I hope someone posts this, it took a day for the G2 users to do it. I'm in Florida and I want to do the update with my laptop at night, I'm not going to a t-mobile store on vacation, but I want gingerbread!
I update with the 2.3.4 that fooball posted then i seen a bunch of people post that it wasn't the same update that T Mobile is pushing out
You can go back to 2.2.1 from the 2.3.4 that football posted
Do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912 follow the G2 method, when you get to the part where you put this in # /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.19.531.1 make sure you put the version you want like 1.17.531.2 not 1.19.531.1 . I did it and it worked you will need this file http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4fh01d/n/PD15IMG_Glacier_TMOUS_1.17.531.2_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155771_signed.zip rename it PD15IMG and put it on sdcard.
I need a rooted version!

the HTC email client does not work, gps has issues, the radio is unstable, and debugging is turned on. The numbers do not match the final release version of what T-Mobile is pushing out OTA and via sdcards. If everything works for you then great, your one of the lucky ones.
yes mail client works just fine, i use it for hotmail, gmail obviously works.
now this debugging thing, can u let me know little more? are we talking about usb debugging or something else?

As far as I remember, mostly licensing issues. While Netflix has always wanted to many an android app, various restrictions from content partners wouldn't allow it without proper protection, drm, etc...
Though if the app is this easy to get working... I have no idea whats changed is the real question... Since I mean, it doesn't seem all that secure...

No it doesn't actually, my thinking is why are they restricting it to certain phones with the impression that it won't work on any other phones? The average joe is going to think it won't work on their particular phone because it won't ever get on their "List". of course I may be totally wrong and all of a sudden they do a blanket across the board release lol.

Yeah the G-Lite one is good except for one nagging bug. The Power Control widget kept going blank on me. I got tired of it and I'm back on SuperCM7 1.9 for now.
Just got mine and no such luck
I received a warranty replacement last Saturday as my original G2's screen became unresponsive across the middle of the screen. I just checked and my replacement has the original 2.2 build.
Not sure if that helps the conversation, but know that unless yours was shipped in the last week, the 2.3.3 pre-loaded may just be an accident.

That's because Sprint needs to give us our promised OTA update that's supposed to be out now. Come on Sprint!
correct. they havent pushed out sprint fix yet for the EVO. your software would read 4.24 for it work.
yes i know we are waiting for the Maintenance release sprint, seeing that it's not out and netflix is back in the market it's note able to let everyone know of it's presence
If you read the description of Netflix in the Market, it no longer supports the HTC EVO with any version of Android.
I'm thinking etflix will have another update to support the HTC EVO 4G as soon as this new Sprint GB update rolls out.

Unlikely. If that were the case then it would say HTC Evo 2.3 in the description. OR they would of left the apk out of the market completely for us untill the maintence release was pushed to everyone if thats the reason they left EVO out of the release this time.
Still makes no sense to put the app back in view of evo handsets if they remove it from the changelog.

So I recently unrooted my phone to have Sprint connect it to their services. I updated to the newest software version 2.3.5 but, nothing changed as far as the sense goes. It's still the same old sense since like 2.2. And what I mean it doesn't have the theme changer or shortcuts in the drop down menu. Am I missing something?
I remember unrooting my old EVO to see what the OTA updates were like a while back and seeing the new features. But I remember having to install that update via Sync. Problems is I looked on HTC's website and all over googleville and couldn't find it anywhere. Can somebody please help me with this? And possibly refresh my memory on how to do it via Sync. Thanks in advance.

HTC never updated us to sense 2. Kinda sucks really...HTC even updated phones with less ram and slower processors (for example htc wildfire) but left us with the OG EVO on the old original Sense.
Kinda bullsh*t if you ask me but whatever at this point I get to upgrade in Novemeber, though I would still like to see sense 2 before then.

You had quick settings in the Notification pulldown and the Sense 3.0 lockscreen stock on your EVO? I don't think so . . .
I am running stock software and I can assure you it does not have quick settings and the unlock screen is the same as my old Hero had so there is no difference. You can download the app called quick setting which will give you the settings in the pull down menu but this is not from HTC.

Oh so what would I use to root it? Unrevoked 3 or Forever or another method. Because for some reason my computer can't perform ADB correctly so a manual root is out of the question. Is there a little bit of info for rooting from 2.3.5 somewhere I could reference?

You have to use HTCDev.com to unlock the bootloader on the 2.3.5 version, which allows you to get root. The only other exploit is TacoRoot, which allows you to downgrade to a version rootable with unrEVOked or Revolutionary (you can likewise downgrade after unlocking with HTCDev).

Ok then. Good luck to both of you.
