Bascially my gf has a g2 I have a Nexus S.Both Using Opera not mini
Anyways the G2 Loads pages faster then my nexus s.Anyone know what can be causing that? I tried a different ROM kernel already didnt work.
Its kinda wierd when im in an area with decent 3g I think its faster then my home WIFI but with speedtest im getting 6mbs and on the speedtest.net webpage im getting over 10mbs Im at a lose here and the stock g2 beating my nexus S is pretty sad help
Think I figured it out Opera 11.1 loads pages slower then Opera 11 up4 thats the name of the version older version which loads pages faster

I just got my mytouch3g and the browsing is way slower than on an iphone. I was under the impression that they were pretty comparable. Is this a hardware thing or a software thing that can be fixed? I am mainly talking about scrolling around once the page is loaded although loading seems really slow even over wifi. I installed the cyanogenmod and the multitouch is so laggy it's almost useless.
so no one knows if the mytouch3g is supposed to be slower than an iphone or not?
So this is pretty much the least helpful forum in the world then? Thanks
Yes. You can flash with cyanogen rom for example to get the Magic faster !
I dont think you can compare G1 and MyTouch to iphone since they are both with low RAM.
I think you should try compare the 32a (like the european) with iphone.
try a fix_permissions in terminal
what is the fix_permissions supposed to do?
I just installed the latest froyo build from darkstone. Using 3G in android my internet is at least twice as fast as my 3G on my energy rom. any ideas why the speed difference?
i felt the same way too.. funny how wm works..
Same here, Froyo does claim that they have the fastest browser
I do remember using Opera 10 and it can render webpage faster than
Opera 9 or Winmo default IE.
So partly would be due to browser app we are using
__
check with a speedtest website, then you can see if your speed gains are from the 3g or from the browser renderer

I noticed the same thing with the same build, my connection switched from 3G to H especially when downloading Apps. I never seen the H before with windows 6.5? I think it's called "3G+" ?
I have a fairly fast cable service (high 30's/low 40's Mbps) and a decent wireless-N router. My Evo seems to hit a wall around 6Mbps, never higher. However, I've seen those on the forum who seem to get faster speeds then that.
I understand this is a relative limitation to the hardware and I'm not going to see the speeds I see on my laptop.
It would be interesting to see what others are getting for wifi speeds.
With my current DSL internet, 2mbsps down, one up.
With Comcast at someone else's house. 8900 and 10,000 with adfree on. Didn't know made much of a difference.

Try disabling mobile networks before turning on wifi it seems to help with my wifi speed although I've never tested my wifi speeds thru my evo cuz I don't use it much
We are legion, for we are many.
My work wifi can get speeds up to 100mbps on computers, and I normally see about 15-20mbps on the evo.
I get average of 7megs

With my uncle wifi he has comcast, the highest on sense roms I have reached 21Mbps down and 6.12Mbps up. but on miui the highest I've ever got was 14Mbps and like 3-4Mbps up.

I've wondered if it had to do with the fact I run AOSP roms and not sense.
It would be great if a dev could chime in and explain why there's a difference.

Yes aosp (cm7 or deck) is the problem with slow wifi speed. sitting right next to the router with cm7/deck my evo top out at 7 or 8 Mbps while sense rom (fresh latest) I get an average of 11 Mbps, my DSL top out at 12 Mbps. Also aosp rom suffer more from not only low signal but slow wifi speed when you move further away from room to room, where as sense does slow down but not as much as aosp rom. I love aosp and currently continue to use aosp because of it speed over sense base rom. In my test sense rom stutter/choppy while watching flash video via browser (stock or opera or dolphin) but aosp (cm7 or deck) run a lot smoother.
Kinda what I expected. Thanks for the explanation.
Have you tried 3GTurboCharger script that is located in the V6 SuperCharger thread, it includes wifi xer... something to consider...

I am currently running an AOSP ROM ( Deck 1.3 ) and with my TWC 30m down, 2m up cable modem I am getting 13 - 15m down and 2m up no matter where in the house I am. Even when I am outside in the yard and only showing one bar on the WiFi Manager widget.
I ** DID ** get slower speeds on the CM7 ROM. Usually in the 7 - 8m range.
I haven't tried the CM7 ROM since I upgraded the radios though. It might have made a difference.
On a Sense ROM (JTG-ICS-4.0.3 b4) I can get 20+m. But I do agree that my video streaming on the Sense ROM has been anything but nice. And that is on ANY of the Sense ROMs I have tried.
Is it just me or this browser is much slower than stock? I've been reading all these nice articles about how Chrome is better etc etc, but I cannot see how it's better. It's a memory hog and less snappy than ICS stock browser. I really think the 512MB of ram in the Nexus S is taking a toll with Chrome (same with the CPU).
Works fine for me.

I assume you on a stock, no tweaked rom thinking its smoothly alrite.
RAM is not the problem as much kernels had these new thing called "HBigmem" which boost 35-87mb more ram...
Like Matr1x has 405mb of ram instead of getting 334mb....

Chrome is definitely slower. I also hate it will slow to a crawl when typing in the search bar. I use xscope. It's the best browser. I've tried em all.

Very slow here too compared to the stock browser
And I thought I am the only one -.- Chrome is a little bit laggy. Starting to type is a nightmare. It needs 2 or 3 seconds to catch up on your typing...
Yup, same here... I really like it's features and looks, but it just don't work how it should...
agreed. it runs a bit laggy on bigmem and non bigmem kernels. i hope google makes it smoother on nexus s.
Its a bit laggy on GN too....

I agree, it's really slow compared with stock. Now i'm using the new Firefox beta, and it's really fast and snappy

The new FF beta is cool. I just hate it vibrates whenever I touch a link. Its smooth too.

thanks guys firefox beta runs smoother and more fluid even opens a bit faster than chrome
Holy crap! Firefox beta is so fast!!!

Chrome works well for me. Stock rooted 4.0.4. Fast and smooth.
It's pretty slow for me too. I really enjoy the features it comes with but i keep going back to the stock browser. I'll try out the new Firefox though.
Previous version of Chrome was really fast and smooth
The latest release is very slow :/
i wanted to like chrome on android because it LOOKS cool and the UI is cool but i found the same. then i realized i hadnt wiped/data in FOREVER and i've even flashed a few ROMs (i know, not the best idea but i'm lazy so i usually see if all hell breaks loose first, which it usually doesnt).
so i did a clean wipe and install of CNA 2.0 and Matrix 19.5 and chrome is now very fast and snappy, i love the tab feature where you can fling one to the side to close it.
Chrome is also slow most of the time on my stock nexus s. I found that opera mini works best and is very very fast (I have did not try Firefox yet). The reason for the speed is that, Opera Mini uses its servers to compress and optimize data and then sends it to your phone - this makes Opera Mini very fast. It also includes tabbed browsing among other features.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.mini.android
I have now also removed Chrome from my Nexus, because it is indeed slow.
I have then tried 5 other browser and for now I decided to go with Dolphin HD browser, which for me is the best compromise between features and speed.
Stock android for me. The one that a actually made by Google for PHONES not desktops or tablets

I have had my TF300 for about 6 months and have done a clean wipe/factory data reset 3 times already due to things getting so slow and sluggish. It seems to be pretty good right after the factory reset but then after about a month or so the web browser slows down and just takes forever to load pages and respond to touches. It asks me to "wait/close" on almost every web page. It can take up to 30 seconds or more to load simple web pages that load in milliseconds on my desktop (my download speed is 55 Mbps according to speedtest.net). Will rooting the TF300 do anything for a better web browsing experience? I have tried all the popular browsers (stock, chrome, boat, dolphin, maxthon,) and none of them offer a good browsing experience. My wife's Nexus 7 runs flawlessly and if my TF300 would run as fast as the Nexus 7 I would be happy. So will rooting help me with web browsing speed at all or is this a whole different issue?
A custom rom could help. I switched to hydro and haven't looked back. Much faster imo

I have this issue on stock 4.1, hydro or cromi will fix these issues. Even stock 4.2 shouldn't have any issues.
I use PAC-MAN ROM and I don't look back to the original ROM. I have much more possibilities to setup and I believe that the tablet is much faster.
Give Cromi or AOKP custom rom a try, both are really smooth!:good:
I can only agree in that. When you have no need to take the ASUS warranty, try an alternative Rom.
After first try, you will see, that this is really simple. The several roms have their pros and cons and you have to find the one, which fits to you best.

Like others have said, there are some software fixes you can try. However, the problem with the TF300T (and ASUS' other Transformer tablets) is that the internal memory has really lousy I/O speeds, so whenever your device has to read/write from disk, it'll come to a crawl. There are some fixes though, like data2sd that can speed things up.

I have also read this recently. But has this actually been tested? And why are we just now hearing about this if the tf300 is nearly a year old already. Also, it seems to do pretty good right after a factory reset which seems to tell me the issue is software based... I would be very happy if data2sd could speed it up even more. i'll have to give it a try.
I remember when I purchased my tf300 last year that it was just ok.. However there would be random crashes and slow down. After rooting and installing CROM-X I noticed a significant difference. It's a little tricky to mod but it was worth it. Honestly it's a huge improvement but there are still some nagging issues with IO. I have tries Data2sd..maybe that's my next step
