My Desire HD connects to my wifi, shows full signal, and allows me to access web pages and web through apps as normal.
After about 5 minutes, all web pages and requests time out and I no longer have internet access, although my phone still says I have full Wifi signal and I've received no errors other than "this page doesn't appear to exist" kind of thing.
I don't seem to have this problem on my works wifi - get full internet access as normal.
My girlfriend's Desire S doesn't seem to have the same problem on my home wifi.
I've tried turning off 3G, and I've tried setting a static IP - I get the same issues with both.
I've used Wifi Analyzer and set my wifi broadcasting channels to ones set outside the ones used by all of the other routers I can pick up.
I've already received the Desire HD wifi fix update as well, didn't seem to make any difference.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi - I cannot find this feature working - simply I start it up but cannot see the setup network via my laptops so I have excluded problem with it. Any ideas?
It is very unstable, I often never see the network after having enabled wifi router. The only solution I have found is to try several times and/or softreset the phone and try again.
Mine only works when the HD2 is right next to my laptop. The range is horrific. Still, I don't use the function. I'm quite happy internet sharing over a bluetooth connection.
i found that it wont work if you enable wireless N.but work with G without tweak using BSB
The Wifi router works very well for me and I use it regularly. This was one of the many features that attracted me to the HD2.
When I enable it on the HD2 from the com manager, my laptop connects automatically. Try restarting your laptop, once you had enabled the Wifi router to discover it if you are having problems.
In terms of range my HD2 is normally kept in the same room, and I have no problem with signal strength. Plus I rather keep my HD2 close so that I get my calls and messages. It is a mobile phone after all.
I can then surf for hours. (Low bandwidth web browsing eg reading XDA/email so not to go over internet allowance).
I have not yet enabled wireless N while using this feature.
I found that my PC could only see my HD2 as a Wi-Fi router when I switched my normal home broadband router off. Once I did that, it could suddenly see the HD2 and reported a full strength signal. I connected and everything worked perfectly.
Hope that helps.

What is the advantage over USB/bluetooth tethering?
After connecting to 3 different wireless connections and none of then working, I'm concluded that my wifi isn't working.
I go to settings and check wifi on, it finds the network, connects, but I lose my entire data connection for the duration wifi is turned on!
Is anyone else having this problem?
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant
I'm having the same issues with the wifi. I downloaded wifi analyzer to make sure I was on a good channel. Set it to the best channel and my signal strength is 100%. I will be able to connect for a little bit but for some reason it goes in and out, connection unsuccessful, yada yada yada. I messed with all the troubleshooting solutions for my router (dgl-4300) but nothing works. If anyone can reply with a fix or point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.
Same Issues
Any help is greatly appreciated. Data working fine when on 3G but Wifi = no data. Connection is fine, IP is fine.
UPDATE: It's working again on my home WIFI. Will have to see if it's just an "at work" issue. Hopefully IT can assist.
Same problem with Verizon MiFi
I have had ZERO problems connecting to the Linksys access points we have setup at my home and my office, but recently my work provided me with a Verizon MiFi (as well as an iPad - don't hate ) and I've had MANY issues trying to get my Vibrant to consistently connect to the MiFi.
My iPad, Motorola Droid, and Laptop have no issues connecting to the MiFi.
On my Vibrant I'm running the 2.1 stock ROM with root & the latest ClockWork recovery.
It will "connect" to the MiFi (I use quotes because I can't really tell - it AT LEAST receives an IP). But I'm unable to send and receive data. I can't even browse to the MiFi's internal configuration page .
To FINALLY get it to connect consistently I have to do some kind of random combo toggling the wifi off and back on and then turning the MiFi off and back on and it will EVENTUALLY connect and stay connected with data flowing freely.
I've customized my configuration a little bit on the MiFi so I'm going to reset it back to factory and not change the config to see if it makes a difference - because at lunch I was able to connect to my boss' MiFi with no problem. I'm thinking it may either be the phone or the mifi...
I've connected to about 10 different wireless networks with NO issues, at all. The connectivity is actually much better than my G1/Nexus.
HOWEVER, last night at a bar I was connected to their wifi, strong signal, but I was not able to use Data. I was in a very poor reception area for T-Mobile... don't think that could be an issue, bit the other places I use wi-fi that is not the case.
I just chalked it up as a fluke and moved on. Not sure what was wrong.
I had this happen to me today. I just rebooted and it went away. Toggling wifi didn't help, but I only tried it once. The phone reboots so quick I figured I'd give it a try.
I have set the phone up manually with static ip. Seems like its a problem with the dhcp.

I'm gonna try this.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Hi all,
I've got a Desire HD and the Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting.
I have two access points in the house - one downstairs and one upstairs. Both have different names bu the net ket is the same.
The both use WPA2-PSK authentication / TKIP/AES encryption.
We have two laptops that remain connected, but the Desire HD tends to drop and attempt to reconnect on a regular basis - but no pattern.
I used to have one AP but I thought it might be down to the signal range - hence the use of two.
Both AP's use different channels.
Any ideas on they the keep disconnecting? I've rebooted the AP's and router a number of times but the problem is not resolved.
Is this just down to signal strength? The Desire HD can show full signal and it'll drop just like that and won't reconnect.
Very frustrating!!
Any advice / tips are welcome!
Hello!
I read in another forum that if you go in the wifi settings and "forget" the AP and then set it up again from scratch that the problem is resolved.
Haven't tried it myself yet but will do later today.
Hello all,
I use a campus-wide wifi network (MAC registered, since the WPA2 Enterprise network requires the phone to keep inputting my password for credentials) while I'm at school, and sometimes the wifi network will drop and not reconnect.
For example, after a random period of standby time, when I turn on the phone and look at it, the wifi will still be happily connected with a proper DHCP-requested IP address, but all efforts at using ping or the Internet browser and so on will time-out.
As far as I can tell, calling reassociate() on the connection is not very effective, as I've tried applications that monitor the connection and try to reassociate().
The problem most often occurs when I leave campus and then come back on.
If I cycle wifi on and off, then the wireless will work again. However, this is annoying since sometimes push Gmail will not get sent in on time. This is also problematic for Voice, since that requires data, and if the phone thinks wifi works, it will not bother connecting to 3G/data to get Voice messages.
Any thoughts? Log-looking suggestions? I'm open to anything! Does anyone have this problem too? (I think my personal wifi router drops similarly so.)
InfX and I looked at the sleep states of the wifi and CPU performance in thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950655 , but that seemed inconclusive (although it is slimly possible I am not building the kernel correctly).
Thanks muchly,
Jeff
Edit: I am using rafpigna's kernel on a Sense (imilka's mytouch 4g) build.
My WiFi on the Atrix crashed all my 3 routers (ActionTec/Dlink/Linksys), sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after several hours.
The routers needed restart after that. Also wired connections were affected.
I tried messing with static IPs and sleep mode, nothing worked!
Now I upgraded my Dlink DIR 655 from 1.11 to 1.33 (supposedly the best).
Things changed
Now my Atrix takes only itself down, the Dlink keeps working for other wireless and wired devices.
The Atrix says its connected and I get the icon with full bars, however no data is transferred. The market and other apps say network error.
I can switch connection over to my other WIfi network and all is good again.
Has anyone seen this behaviour?
Also is there an app that shows me the link mode G or N and the current link speed? I cant seem to find a good app. I would also like to see if I can lock the Atrix to G or N only. Is there such a toggle switch?
Thanks.
Update: Switched connection from Dlink to Linksys and it worked for about 30 minutes then the linkksys crashed (could not reconnect got no IP). Switched back to the Dlink, got connected, good signal but no data. Even after a phone reboot. So I think it might be still on the DLink side although I have Netflix (PS3 wireless) and another PC connecting fine. This and the VOIP mic problems (Skype etc...) bug me the most about the phone.
ive been having this same problem since i got my phone and im still having problems. its pissing me off. cant even use my netflix through the Wii to watch on the big screen
spacev and trapjawmusic, who is your internet provider? I have a POTS+DSL line + WRT54GS and never encountered this problem.
