I'm curious what the steps are to unlock the current bootloader that is on an EVO White I just received from insurance. My previous EVO had the charger port unattach, which I hear is pretty common, had it for only four months, but I was able to mirrior netflix and hbogo via a program I paid 5 dollars for on the market. The program is called hdmi out and is no longer on the market. Please help!!

Looking at the top 10 topics in this forum 3 of them are about 2.2.3 root not counting yours.
It is hard to be helpful when you clearly didn't take the time to find the answer on your own. Sorry for being harsh. A new day another question about 2.2.3 root........

To be fair to the newcomers, I don't see why this forum can't add a sticky post that says 2.3 OTA can't be unrooted. Would make it a lot easier for newcomers and make it completely inexcusable to start a new thread asking for 2.3.

I think sommthing big is coming. It's been a week since anything big even roms! Im confident in this community and yesterday there was an unlocked boitloader topic that was removes because it gave to.much info. How often does that happen. One of the reasons it has been quite is because there is an update soon. Kind of pointless to make a rom (or new version of an existing one), and have to redo it again to make it work with the new update.
Also that topic was deleted because the op was posting an IM convo that the developer didn't want being made public. It didn't really prove anything conclusive.
It also doesn't help that devs have to make a bunch of worthless posts like this one so we can reply our post in the dev area.
I have info for 2 different threads in there, but since I'm too new, I can't respond. Eventually, I'll get the minimum junk post quota done, and can tell them what the nvflash method described will and will not do. Till then, I'll just keep playing around silently...

There is nothing wrong with optimism, I agree; however, until there is an actual way we have to be careful because they don't want moto finding out and then quickly fixing it.
The real risk is moto blocking methods we use to gain root, or to back flash to an older SBF...

Have you tried talking to the devs on irc? They're still hard at work just not posting on the dev section because it all gets jumbled and messy

drock212 is correct, the devs are hating the dev subforum at the moment because of all the useless posts and information. If you jump on IRC and STAY QUIET UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING USEFUL TO SAY you learn a lot about whats going on, as well as learn some new things about how your phone works. That's what I've been doing for the past few weeks and it's helped a lot.

I don't understand why people aren't being reamed more for this! The first time this happened when 2.2 dropped, people were getting flamed hard for starting new threads. We know that they know the answer... but they still want to pester and ask the question... as if it will bring the solution sooner.
Just do the pre-order for the 3D and get that phone. It will be permanently S-OFF out of the box!

This is not necessarily true. The final release was leaked on the EVO3D forum and shows s-on.

Ignore some of the people on here. It is okay if you are noob, but be sure just to search next time. And if you manage to not find an answer when searching, don't be afraid to post a question. There are a lot of good people on here that will help you.

cry me a river dude. you didnt take the time to try and solve the problem yourself. a simple search would have turned up the 700 other threads on the same subject. in fact, when you start a new thread and type in the thread title it automatically loads a list of similar threads which you obviously ignored. no sympathy from me. next time, dont be lazy and search

depends what your config is, don't accept the recent OTA's if you haven't yet. www.unrevoked.com is all you need to know for rooting.
Yeah unrevoked was really easy. Now I am a flashaholic, and you will be soon too, lol.
A great place to start is to read the stickies and faq's, rather than posting a whole new post to ask something that's already been asked thousands of times.

This forum is actually for general discussion. The Q&A forum is for help. Though I suppose help can qualify as "general discussion" it's still pretty disingenuous to think that this forum is more suited for helping than the Q&A forum is.
One thing I've found is that people that don't want to put any effort into doing research/experimentation themselves (before asking for help) are the ones that tend to end up with broken phones or just really weird phone issues because they simply follow directions without having any understanding of what they're actually doing.
So ultimately you are burning yourself, but not necessarily in quite the same way as implied in one of the above messages.

I've been rooted since Jan of 2010 when I got my Hero. I usually keep a nandroid of CM and MIUI on my phone, lately I've been playing with Synergy. I can't remember the last time I had a stock phone. My wife's usually pissed at me for spending too much time messing with the phone. I'm not on XDA consistently so usually by the time I read a post most solutions to a problem, etc. have already been covered.

Thanks for helping me get to post 10. one foot in front of the other.
Who in there right mind wants to post in the Dev section. Their a bunch of asshats that use internet muscles to cyber bully by just the smallest of typos. As a matter of fact that's just about how the entire EVO section is anymore. Guess I'm just a little disgruntled these days at the actions of my fellow xdaers. Seems as though they have lost sight of why xda was created several years ago. Instead of helping let's just bash in those we feel are less superior.

I have been on this forum for three days now, I can safely say this is an amazing forum! Three days ago I didnt have the foggiest on how to root a phone. Knew absolutely nothing at all. Its amazing the amount of knowledge I have gathered I three days! I now have a quality and smoove running and looking phone, after bricking it three times! Nice to hear you're learning lots.
Just some friendly advice, please some time soon read the rules so you understand how and where to post and when to create threads, correct posting saves the moderators a lot of hard work and prevents you getting flamed.
Really you should have posted this in the general forum/general thread which is always welcoming apart from some grumpy old gits like me ....joking aside, if everyone plays their part the forum is much easier to use and find information on.

I am probably a 100 times worse a noob than you are. The only thing I have done on my S3 is to get root access via Odin. Is there anyway you could point me to some threads from where I can start?
