Hello,
I bought yesterday a german Dell Venue Pro 16GB and I am not sure if it is already defective.
I read everywhere (also in the manual) that uit has two speakers at the bottom of the phone.
But i get sound only from the right hole. If i put my finger on the right hole at the bottom, the volume decreases, if i put my finger on the left hole - nothing happens. And I do not know if it is defective or not?! Can anyone tell me if the sound should come out of both "holes"?
And I came from the HD7. The touchscreen-Buttons did work much better with my HD7. I have to press very hard the Windows Button to get it work. Is that normal?
sorry for my bad english - typos are designed and copyright by me ;-)
Thanks for Help!
BTW: nice phone - much better processed than the HD7!! and FW 212
Only one speaker on the DVP although there are two grill for it on the bottom of the phone. As far as the windows button, I've not had any issues with mine on the phones I've had.
Are you pressing the button straight on or kind of hitting it at the top of sides of the lit portion?

To elaborate, the right grill is for the speaker, the left is the mic.
As far as the buttons, I would just make sure that you don't have your hand covering any of the other three buttons while trying to hit the Windows. Other than that, I dunno.
Thanks for response.
It really has only one speaker even though the online Dell manual told me it has two ;-)
The button was a hardware issue. I went to my dealer and got a new one with working button - and only one speaker, too.
Thanks anyhow!

Yep, this is standard. The Use connector housing is square and does not follow the curve of the casing.
Mike
Something I have noticed is that on my brand new replacement handset (serial number beginning HT643, my original handset was an HT634) the silver bezel which runs along the right hand side of the screen is recessed slightly - nothing major, but when my original handset's metal strip was flush with the plastic casing, you really do notice it (particularly if you're holding the phone in your left hand). Oh well, only a minor issue really!

BUT maybe this is how they are solving the Screen alignment problem - DONT bend it. Only joking but you never know do you.
Mike
Not planning on it I did notice that JUST as I replaced my handset my screen alignment drifted out, which I corrected with a realignment (I had it replaced for another reason - people not being able to hear me after I'd gone through any call which involved entering numbers to an automated menu system, and then being on hold for a long time! for example... To the T-MOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICES PEOPLE! haha).
Very odd, hope it doesn't happen with this device. I won't go hacking the case to fix it though, I'm too lazy for that.

Thats one of the exact problems with my previous handset but mainly when on speaker phone
Greetings All,
this is my first windows mobile device ever (although i'm a .Net Developer)
i noticed one strange thing in my X1, whenever i shake the mobile i hear a sound like there is something inside the device (upper side) moving freely!
does anyone else have the same thing? or should i return the device for replacement?
Also mine!
And also other three device that I check.
So I think it's normal.
Herard that as well...but it was reportet only if you hold your X1 vlosely to your ear...
What you hear might be the vibrator.
All the X1's have it, I was also worried when I received mine and made a thread. Haven't found/spoke to one person who hasn't got it yet. One person rang them up and asked if it was supposed to be like that and was told it is, but still no idea why.
As previously said it could be the vibrator.
Well, ok then! but i wonder where it's comming from.
i will check it out when i open the device. but i don't want to void my warranty so soon
I think it's the optical joystick. Hold the phone upside down and listen.
The vibrator is placed in the opposite corner.
Hi.
I confirm, on mine, the sound comes from the optical joystick.
mine has it too, but it's not the optical joystick.
maybe an accelerometer?
no accelerometer. everyone has it i think. no need to worry.
nope, not the optical joystick.
im not worried about it any more.
I guess no one should be. the good thing is that time will reveal the truth about this.
if I came to know anything about this I will immediately post it here.
looooooooool
your "scary" sounds is from volume keys and camera button Take in hand blocking them and you can't ear anything (at least, on my device )
no camera or volume keys. It is from inside.
Anyway, it sounds like an orientation sensor, not necessarily an accelerometer, but who knows?
HTC did it, so it might be there waiting to be activated from drivers )))
Maybe SE has an Xmas surprise for us )))
I find it slightly irritating, as when I have the phone in a car holder it vibrates and makes an annoying rattling sound. I daren't open the phone up to find it, so I guess I'll just have to be irritated...

yeah, that's what I think it is.
all gadgets I have that do a similar sound, have a g-sensor inside...
let's hope the update comes soon, as we are with a really "beta" firmware currently :_>
No boy.
It's a simple noise. If you press the upper and bottom part (display and keyb) you can hear no sound.

i tried everything, but the sound didn't go away, until i saw your post!
yes, it's not there anymore!!!! but when you stop pressing, it comes back!
Yes, mine is exactly the same Got to be from the slider mechanism. Anyone got some pictures of it?
No need to worry....the first day i when i recived my x1 i also shaked it the whole day. But then I read in a german forum that this is the gearwheel of the slider...everyone in that forum also said that he had that ticking noise.
BUT
I have another problem with the slider. When I use the touchscreen (especially in the right upper corner) the screen drawback a bit and its like pushing a button because when i release the pressure it makes a little tick. i think this has to do with the mounting of the slider.
Greetings
Dunnam
was at the service centre .. for other issues too.. they told me the rattle function is just the loose keys.. i got owned ! lol
My streak has started making a very noticible "click" noise when i press on the case, bottom left near the microphone hole, Just to the left of the home button. Now i havent taken my phone apart, but it sounds like however the piece just under the screen is attached, its somehow coming apart ever so slightly...visually it looks perfect still....doesent appear that the plastic piece is gonna come off anytime soon....its just an annoying click that makes it feel crappy. Anyone else experience this?
Maybe the hamsters wheel is coming loose and knocking on the casing, you did know it was hamster powered??
Sorry I can't be more helpful, no clicks or wobbles on my case so far and fingers crossed.
I dont know if its just my phone but try this. Close the phone, now from the bottom it seems that the left side has no gap and doesn't move when u press it down. However on the right side there is a slight gap and i press it down the phone will move. Also when i slide the phone out and use the windows keys the upper half touches the bottom half of the phone and make this faint clicking sound which is really annoying. Does your phones do that or is it just mine?
i've had three DVPs and each of them were built just fine. the slider worked flawlessly and there weren't any uneven gaps.
no gaps here and i haven't seen any for the ones we got at work - about 10.. but i wasn't really looking for it.

Mine has a slight gap on the right side too.
I question the build Quality of the venue pro as well.
I've gone through 6 of them and they all had horrible build quality.
I assume most people have crappy DVP as well, they just don't know it until they've seen what horrible quality is.
Get it?
For example, most people dont know they have bad vision until it is corrected by wearing glasses.
Hi,yesterday as I took the phone out of the pounch I discovered that the upper left side, just above the volume up button, makes a strange plastic noise as i press it...the phone never felt....is the quality really that poor ?
