That;s WinMo. You can't put winmo themes on android. end of story.

You are talking about two different things. The OP wants the theme ported to Android. It's not possibly because Android doesn't support those buttons or whatever. Porting Android to a WinMo phone is different because you're porting the ACTUAL Android OS to the phone, not a theme from Android to WinMo over vice-versa.

While undoubtably true on the surface, it is certainly possible to port PARTS of the theme over. For instance, you could prolly fairly easily port the icons (both in the taskbar and for the apps). However, I'm not really that bored at the moment.

honestly I propbably wont have time for another month or so I have shoots scheduled all over the place but if you want to learn how to do it, I made a how to for themeing and its in the theme wiki you would just have to download that rom rip it apart and resize and replace the files in the android apk's
I'll look at it and let you know what can be done.
Edit: I haven't messed with Winmo files but I will see what i can do. I'm sure the icons and other images can be as well as the look of the clock. Could make it look like that. I will check it out tomorrow.

I remember my first rom... Android 2.1 Sense. Complete with custom cookie theme (done completely by me). Good times, good times. I will download and look around, it's been ages since a new rom has been introduced for the Eris. Oh and BTW... Use multiupload.com instead of megaupload. It's preferred around here.
First off, congrats. There's nothing that provides you an opportunity to learn like putting your feet in the fire.

A little OT, but since you mentioned it - if you are using VirtualBox 4 (maybe even VB 3.2), you might want to add the Oracle VirtualBox Extension Pack - it mucks around with the synthetic EHCI controller that the guest VM machine sees. I just went through this the other day - I migrated all my VMs from VB 3.2.x to 4.0.4 for exactly this reason - USB access.
It's a little bit quirky, but what seems to happen is that if you add "Filters" to the VM, then any time the VM is running, when you plug the device into the host machine, it passes that USB device immediately to the guest. (I was doing exactly the same thing as you - flip-flopping between the host (Windows) and the guest VM, whenever I needed device access. Now I can do everything right from the guest).
All this magic happens after VirtualBox drivers are installed in the host machine, and guest extensions are installed into the client machine. (The latter seems kind of tricky for Ubuntu guest VMs - I had to copy the Guest Additions ".iso" file out of the C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox folder to the VM, and then loopback mount the .iso file to get access to the installer program ("autorun.sh").) In any event, don't forget to reboot both the guest VM and the host OS to get all this stuff stabilized.
bftb0
PS Just as an FYI, it works but there is a performance hit - I measured some big USB file transfers directly to the host OS and also to the guest VM - the VM passthrough is only about 1/3rd the speed of the native USB interface.
Cool beans, I will try it out. downloading now but will probably install sometime tomorrow. thx for taking the time to make us another rom to play with

Since ADB is required to root the Nexus can someone be kind enough to make a how to on how to use ADB? I'm new to Nexus, I came over from the EVO and never had to use ADB to root or flash, so if someone can make a how to on ADB I'm sure there would be alot of us that would greatly appreciated!

i suppose a how to would be useful for beginners, i certainly don't have any quality experience with adb, just hours and hours of brain hurt. googe is my good friend though, and there lies some satisfaction to wasting a tremendous amount of effort over solving a simple problem.
asking specific questions might be quicker than waiting for an adb tutorial. somewhat helpful info on adb- hxxp://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html

you don't need a step-by-step the stickied threads will guide you through this:

This is exciting, I am in the kitchen going through the menu. updating getting some
erors like
Could not update init.rc!
but trying to get it where it will wipe so during flashing we don't have to go through that either, but not going through
"unable to modify update script"
But when updating online says I have to latest version, and then run through the script error and found 30 issues found.
say's, "Please reviw the update-script to ensure it is correct?"
Note: Update-script must be converted to an updater-script before flashing.
It takes many, many, many years. Instructions on how to make ROMs were actually found on the back of the Ten Commandments by Moses, and have been passed down from generation to generation. Because of this, it takes many years to translate the different stories together to find out how to do it.

All depends on what u want to make with ur rom. U gonna speed it up. Make it smaller. Theme it. Create different transitions. Add it extras. Change around a bunch of the PNG files. Mess with the kernal. Change the boot animation. Each take different amounts of time as well as skill. Depends on how good u r with Photoshop and also at figuring out what exactly u want ur rom to look like. I created two roms in the hero forum and did some crazy things. I have yet to try anything here but as the devs move onto the 3d I might start releasing and working on things again as well.
You could always compile CM7 from source, change a few images and give it a new name. That could be done in an hour or less...
Yea, kind of hard to say if you don't tell us what you want to create.
When the new 2.3.3 update came out from HTC, I downloaded the rooted version that xHausx put up in the dev forum. I then stripped out all the stuff I don't use, and added the stuff I wanted, and flashed it to my phone. Then I made a couple of mods that I like to use with the UOT kitchen and flashed those to my phone, and reinstalled all of my apps. Took me about three hours total, including downloading the base rom.
On the other hand, extensive theming, optimizing, porting roms from other devices, or compiling a new rom from AOSP can take weeks or months of spare time work (never done any of those things myself, but have closely followed the progress of some who have).

Don't stop! I say you have the time post one up again, always donate to the dev's doing all the work, So now I see what your saying. I have experienced all the tools you have talked about, just not enough in the animation and cs4(.mov)

Big happenings recently in the Touchpad realm. Touchdroid, one of the groups who was developing Android for the HP Touchpad, has decided to release a dump of their build, along with instructions on how to install it. I have recorded my own installation in hopes that others might benefit from it.
Two things:
1. Please follow the steps listed here http://touch-droid.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2
2. Be aware that this is not the Cyanogenmod version, and there are a few items that are not quite working yet.
Here is the link to the video:

Happy Flashing!
Now, the usual disclaimer: If this bricks your Touchpad.... bummer, dude.
Also, I am aware that an amazing build will eventually be released from Cyanogen. I am excited about this. The touchdroid build is just to tinker with.
:::UPDATE:::
If you want to uninstall this, here is a video explaining how:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKRp3ldtAjU
agreed. Even if their devteam is knowledgeable I will not install their port because of the logs I've read.

This is the beginning of it all...^^ Android is damn near now... thx!
Please keep in mind that this build is incomplete and buggy. That being the case, this is only recommended to those that care less about the source (we already know all about that) and more about tinkering with it. Use it if you like, but keep the arguments out. Thanks.
Interesting, although its VERY incomplete. I can only surmise that this is a "just to get it out there" kind of thing.

The comments on the video are already entertaining.
People, if you don't have any idea what this is, where it comes from, or why it's being posted..... DON'T INSTALL IT!!!!
If some idiot (me ) puts a video on the intertubes, it does NOT mean that you need to follow it. Watch it, learn from it, but if you don't like the outcome.....DON'T INSTALL IT!!!!!
Also, I total get why people bail from giving even the smallest amount of help to others. Nobody asked me to do this video, I just saw a need for it and made it. And... I'll do it again once cyanogen's stuff comes out for it.
Haters gonna hate, I guess.

How did you go back to previous screen without back button?
Also does anyone know if once the CM version is released the flashing process might be a little easier for the average user? I am not too comfortable with entering commands everywhere. reverend made it look easy because he was obviously familiar with entering command prompts. Either way I will be attempting it, just thought I would ask.

CM's release will be soon enough and will be fool proof. Unless you're reasonably familiar with the Linux terminal and ADB you're probably better off waiting. There's not much properly working on this version. You'll install it, play for ten minutes and them have to go back to waiting for a proper release. This is pre-alpha.

you can see he shot over adb commands
after have following the drama, around the stolen/lost code, I really think people should stop there personal [mod edit], and focus on getting android to the tp. As I see it this, android dump, is touchdrods way of saing: We [mod edit] up, and we are sorry. I also understand that they are stopping the project. So lets all stop the flaming, and wait for the CM, or another teams build! Just my 5 cents
Whats the point of tinkering with the Touchdroid build when the team has disbanded. I would stay away from this build since the CyanogenMod seems to be way ahead of the Touchdroid team anyways.

issent the point, that other teams can see touchdrods build, and use what they can from it. Like small twinks and stuff like that.
So, I'm going to try to bring this thread back on topic so,
for those of you still navigating using adb or whatever, Button Savior works great. Download it, adb install it.
Has anyone tried to install the back and home buttons from an app on the market yet?
Edit: I see button saviour works, niceeee
