ZTE V880 leaked GingerBread ROM battery ends too fast!! - Blade General

Hi all!
Can you tell me how I can fix the battery?
I use ZTE V880 (china blade) lealed GingerBread which are fixed for ZTE!
It is good and fast but battery ends too fast: I don't use it still battery ends 12% in 2 hours!
Can fix it easily?

Unfortunately I have that exact same problem, no matter whatever ROM I use.
I'm now trying CM7 nightly 151 and crossing my fingers.

Have you checked whether an app is draining your battery e.g. always trying to connect to GPS or something?

OK, I use now good ROM stir fry or what it is the ROM name
it is good and battery life is pretty nice...
CM 7 nightly is maybe good but my phone widgets not work if I use CM7

Yes, I've thoroughly checked everything, I just don't know what could I have missed.
Set the phone profile to smartass, using setcpu helped a bit too.
GPS, 3G and WiFi are only connected on demand too.
I've noticed a constant CPU usage around 30%, though I don't know how to check which apps are the responsible for this.

first time CM7 work fine and then later I can't add widgets or move them + add selection not work if I touch the screen...
and I cant find one fully working GingerBread ROM!
maybe I need to buy other phone or I need to us my old phone Samsung Jét... -.-

no way
same as your issue. no way to fix it.

uh.. I didn't remember that I made this thread, I don't use ZTE Blade anymore, i use Galaxy nexus and with that battery life is same as on CyanogenMod N257 on ZTE Blade.. So pretty horrible battery life..
on this ROM maybe kernel changing will make battery better if not then baseband radio changing what maybe is not possible on ZTE Blade bacuse it's maybe included to the boot.img.

The batterry of the blade is not so horrible, i can easily stay 2 days without charging, 1 day in heavy usage

on my Blade what I don't even have anymore so in that the battery life is not good but it still stays even to 2 days from 100% to 12% without using it..

Battery life on custom roms

Hey guys im keen to know your experiences with the various custom roms out there.. I have flashed villianrom today as my first custom along with various kernals but have had constant drain issues..
Looking at my battery awake stats it seems as if it never sleeps :-(

Screenshots showing battery usage and more importantly screen on time.
I don't have Villian ROM but from reading the comments on thst thread this is one of the best as regards battery drain so im amazed you experience high drain.
I run Cognition and am happy with this.

You can see it just gettin eaten away screen off doesnt stop drain note the awake vs.screentime i have tried 4 kernals to no avail

Put on watchdog and let it run in the back ground and see if it's any app or widget misbehaving.
Thanks trying now

Just read in another thread that having motion sensor enabled causes this.
In my case ... Absolutely confirmed!

I was on Villain too,1.4 to be exact...drains as well, now on Litening 2.2,after resetting batt stats, best so far screen on time almost 5 hours, using mostly wifi..but with 3G,I get around 4hr 30mins...I usually leave my wifi on all the time at home, and switch on data only when I leave...
literom 2.2 doubled my battery life (no exageration) coming from stock rom. impressive.

Some extended idling:
Cognition 1.13 with CF KG1 Kernel, Phone undervolted as in screenshot + GPU @ 750mV for both states.
Android OS still taking 1h15m CPU time in that screenshot, which, in my experience in this case is I *think* because of Skype running all the time there. Also Trillian connected to multiple services running constantly with Wifi.
I'm using Cognition 1.15 with modified 1.4 ninmphetamine kernel, very good battery life so far! (probably the best compared to villainrom and litening rom for me)
Having fixed my awake issue my battery life is reasonable but i expected betted with villainrom + nenphetamine custom + undervolt.
We need to guage some good comparisons id like to get an extended idle test dont know if i can leave my phone for that long. LOL
Btw How did you undervolt gpu?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I would stay away from these newer kernels like Nephetamine until they actually mature. I alslo tried some other custom kernels and they kinda drained the battery way more. So I'm sticking to a plain kernel like CF for the moment. Also seems better to stick to the normal ondemand governor.
Undervolting GPU via Tegrak Ultimate, it's worth it imho, especially since I basically shaved off 25% voltage without any issues.

I too flashed Villain rom (KF2) 2 days back and after flashing I get more battery drain compared to KF2 stock rom. android os is consuming 60% of battery.
BTW How can i see that graph thats shown above? is there any app for that

Hi everybody,
as new user I cant post on the right post. So I ask you directly
I would like to test the new 2.3 with the Wolf's TW GB (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988) but I saw some people who had problems with battery autonomy.
I run, right now, the 2.1.A.0.435 and I'm really satisfied about the battery. My X10 is on for 40 hours and I got 74% battery. Yes, I don't use it very much but it's enough for me.
So I wanna know how the battery usage is with the Wolf's rom and if I can test it without being disappointed.
P.S.: sorry for my ugly english
I cant speak for all users but my battery drains very fast. I dont know why, but might its because I often use wifi and my screen brightness is set to maximum.

Doooooooh, using wifi and screen brightness to the fullest drain battery. on my side i can tell you that wolf's rom with the hotfix is perfect. I can go through the day easy with screen brightness to half, no wifi, im on 3g all time, listening 2 hours a day some music while playing Asphalt 5 on my way to work. So yes battery is ok as long as you don't use to much wifi and bluetooth.

from what ive learned in the year or so ive been using android phones is that everyones battery experience is different. I find 3g drains my battery and wifi doesnt. All you can do is try it for yourself.

May I ask a question, with all due respect to everybody's work?
Why would you use a modified stock ROM,
be it WB's or anyone elses, since we have root, which means that you can tweak the stock ROM to your needs?
I mean, it's one thing to have CM ROMs or MiUI ROMs or vanilla Android,
but a modified stock ROM is still stock people!
I much prefer to make tweaks on my own, remove what I don't need, etc.
Just my 2 cents.
Again, I mean no disrespect, WB has been doing an elaborate job on his ROMs.
my battery lasts twice with 2.33, (i was before on WB froyo), with normal use 16 hours 50% at the end of my long day.
so battery life is awesome, i think is becouse is not as smooth in some games and apps.

not everyone can invest the time to learn the tweaks, and WB is based on CM isnt it? anyways i am loving the battery on my stock GB, will probably root it to get titanium to work and remove some of the bloatware, Ive used WB 2.2 but the battery really sucked, tried alot of BBs but didnt manage to fix the drain
You should really try-out this ROM. It has speed tweaks/battery tweaks ported from another devices. This is the only ROM for the x10 with these tweaks.
I am using WB's rom with FIX005. The battery not drain very fast.
At least I can use it for whole day.

Yeah, but learning how to mod your phone is half the fun!!
Anyway, it's good that there are options and I know WB makes really
fast ROMs, his 2.2 was very snappy and stable.
However, what I've been trying to point out is that WB's 2.3.3
is not CM, it's stock SE ROM, tweaked.

I would try WB's ROM, but I'd like to keep my RAM management more balanced and flexible, because I need a lot of apps to run in the background and not being killed.
Anyway, again, no offence to anybody.

I can tell you that there are there alot of apps in the background running that are not being killed. Much more then on Froyo/Eclair. So what stops you from trying it out?!
The most important ones I got running are:
- WhatsApp
- MSN Talk Pro
- Google Talk
- Facebook
- Seesmic
- LiveProfile
- KikMessenger
- Skype
- Viber
- Data Monitor
- DSP Manager
- Equalizer
- SwiftKey
- Widgetsoid
- Beautifull Widgets
And much more...
And none of them have ever been killed, they all worked fine! Battery life is also great! They are always running in the background. (If in your case the apps are being killed to fast, there is a way to tune it down to what you want!!)

Hey in hotfix5 there is GoogleTalk1.3 which support videochat. Does this work on the x10?
Edit: Doesnt work, I always get a fc when i klick on the camera-symbol
I will test that, right now

3 hours unplugged, and little to no use, and my phone is down 40%
So my phone is using way more power than it had under 2.1 I'm going to guess that it has to do with the baseband, and localization for me.
I switched from Wolf's 2.2 / 009 to 2.3 / 005 on my business phone. 3 hrs music per day (that's the time I need from home to office) many phone calls, gaming, testing, playing. I've to charge once a day. Think that is not to bad.

Cell service diable?

Hey Guys,
I apologize if this is the 2009th time this has been asked my search didnt show what I needed so I thought someone may be able to help.
Nook Color Running CynMod 2.2., everything has been running great for about 6 months, and now my battery has started lasting less and less, so I turned off my bluetooth
but when I look at "Battery Stats" the 2nd biggest user is CELL SERVICE
Can this be turned off and if so what the best way to do so?
I love the mod (I have ICS on my other NC) and its VERY quick, I just need more than 10 hours battery life in sleep.
thanks
J
If I recall correctly... that's just the way CM calculates the battery stats. The NOOK doesn't have a cell radio, so it's never going to use any battery, because it physically can't.
My experience with my feature phone have shown it to gobble up battery with the bluetooth feature on, so I tend to use it sparingly with the NOOK.
You're best bet for getting better battery life is to upgrade your ROM to something more recent - like the MiRaGe KANG build - the more recent kernel's make better use of CPU time and battery efficiency.
NCK
Thanks for the advice
do you think that the ICS release would be more efficient?

What sort of battery drain do you currently get on standby? Can you tell me the reading in ma from CurrentWidget? If it's 3-5 ma with mobile network/wifi/bluetooth etc on and 2ma in airplane mode then you're fine, but if it's higher it can definitely be improved.
If you don't plan to use mobile internet connection then disable 3G and turn 2G mode only. Turn off as many widgets as you only can, disable Location Service and auto sync. Install apps on phone memory only.
Also Dorimanx kernel is a hell of battery drainer, use another one like stable Tytungs etc.
Use dynamic/powersave CPU governors or use CPU speed profile apps like SetCPU and make several profiles for it.
This is only a few of tips we can give here.

Well the apps I use to reduce my battery drain are JuiceDefender and SetCPU. Set the profiles to be 245-576 Mhz when screen is off (smartassv2) and whatever else you like when screen is on. I never had any overheating problem with Tytung's kernel though. It was the most stable and just as fast as Dorimanx's kernel IMO. Still, using ICS now so I can't really judge about the newest versions of each of them.

I think his kernel is the same in battery drain over any of them. Ive tried them all. If anything, seader_r9 was the best and it was only a small improvement. My battery life is pretty short, but im a HEAVY user. Constant web browsing, constant text messaging contant GPS. And it lasts for the majority of the day. Now i have an .sh script which helps tweak the smartassV2 settings. I get about 110-200ma drain when doing simple web browsing or replying to a text.
One must also keep in mind that the ROM has a major part in battery drain as well. I heard from many users on here that MIUI has the best battery life. All in all i think any kernel you choose will have reletively (i spelled that wrong -.- its still early ) the same battery drain. It really comes down to the amount of use your phone has. But as stated before, turning off data greatly saves the battery as does turning down the screen brightness, fyi, automatic brightness sucks battery life too. Plus android does a horrible job polling the light sensor -.- it shouldnt take an average of 3 seconds to get the changed light value..
Theres not much 'tweaking' you can do to give you like an hour extra of battery life. Our batteries are only 1350mah batteries and thats really small for such a huge screen. My Touch Pro 2 has a 1500 and a much smaller screen. There are a lot of good aftermarket batteries on ebay that you could get which would extend your running time.
thanks guys, im gonna give a shot to tytung kernel, but im also gonna take a look to the aftermarket baterys
Typhoon rom support undervolt so if your phone is gettin' hot I suggest you to tweak the voltages as explained to original thread first page, it makes a big difference compared to stock.

Good advice here. There's a lot you can do (as already advised) but always some performance tradeoffs. The standard HD2 battery is only 1230 mA... not 1350. Smartassv2 in DM's kernels is excellent for performance and settles down nicely in standby - but it will pull-on your battery when used. There's no substitute for keeping a few extra charged batteries around (when you need them), along with AC & DC chargers + cable, in a small carrying case.

You don't need to use dorimanx's latest kernels, his stable kernels in fact do a better job at not overheating and have only 2ma drain on standby. I know 5.9, 6.3, 6.4d, and 6.9A (ics hwa) give a great battery life.

Which apps are running in the background? People constantly say that task killers make no difference yet whenever I've opened something and haven't killed it I get a higher battery drain than normal.
Also, use JuiceDefender and SetCPU to lower the drain.

battery is even worse after ICS

I had sticked with GB from day 1. Only a minor OTA update to 2.3.6. Four days ago I saw that there were a new ICS update for my French GNote. I said "what the hell!" and done with the update. Now I am getting 7-8 hours instead of 12-13 hours, and the phone is getting warmer now.
same old story.
ics gives more performance, but drains more battery.
I improve my situation with a change of kernel (speedmod)
There is a deep sleep issue well documented on ICS 4.0.3 for Note. If you install cpu spy you can see that when the screen is off your device is still running at 200MHz thus eating up the battery.
I've had my phone go dead after 3.5 hrs of use. Hopefully 4.0.4. resolves this issue
The poster who said that ICS just eats up more battery is wrong. There is a legitimate bug preventing the phone from deep sleep.
There is a trick where you can enable airplane mode, power device off, pull battery, insert battery back in, power on device and the deep sleep bug is gone, that is until you charge your phone again.

If you are comfortable, flash a custom kernel or ROM. Also, get BetterBatteryStats and look for wakelocks.
I found ICS does drain more battery - though on my Note it wasn't anywhere near drastic as yours, maybe 5-10% more. I never ran into a deep sleep issue on 4.0.3 myself.
As for phone getting warmer, check to make sure you don't have an application running that is using a lot of CPU time. I found that for me, an older version of the Facebook app would occasionally get "stuck" and really use up the CPU, making the phone very warm - and running battery down.
As King Meda mentioned, a new kernel can make a big difference. After switching to the Speedmod kernel, I'm getting much better battery life, a few extra hours a day in my case.
Yes ICS gives smoother interface at the cost of battery life. I do not mean deep sleep bug. Even without that bug, ICS in general consumes 10 to 20% more battery when screen is on.

4.0.3 certainly had worse battery life, as I couldn't even get my device to enter "deep sleep". But, personally, 4.0.4 lasts me through the day - if not a bit longer - and I am happy.

With 4.0.4 I'm more or less back where I was with GB, 1,5-2,5% drain per hour under normal use.
4.0.3 was a horror story for me due to the deep sleep (l2_hsic wake lock) problem.

Hope this helps there are many threads about this.

Agree !!!
But 4.0.4 is good. Smooth, and stable.
I've no idea about the stockROM 4.0.4. I use customROM for 4.0.4, and it really suit my needs and my device.
Battery drains, normally due to :
*) application running in background, which requires high resources of CPU.
*) device doesn't go to proper deep sleep, when you are not using it, due to those background application, and due to some tweaks on the use kernel.
Because of the application in background, and can't go to deep sleep, you will feel that your device is heaty, and sometimes is very hot.
Once your device go hot, normally the battery will drain faster.
When this is happen, means it is time for you to check which application make your device do exercise too muach, or means it is time for you to re-flash your device.
So far, I never use stockROM at all for my device, and never use stock kernel as well. So the stock performance, is beyond my imagination.
So, peare, for your reference, you may try "speedmod" or "notecore" for your kernel. These 2 kernels have been reported as a safe kernel for ICS, and also reported as a good ICS kernel to maintain battery usage, so it won't drain so fast.
as for ROM, you may choose yourself. you can browse around at N7000 Android development, and find the ROM that you like.
You can also try the ROM I'm using now = CriskeloROM.
This ROM is very good to my device. I combine it with speedmod. So far so good.
No heaty device, and no lagging, very smooth, and battery last well (around 20+ hours).

Try using speed mod kernel. Your battery life will be like 16-18hrs. I had same issue with ICS but am happy now.

I'm assuming this is the stock ROM with a potential eMMC bug the OP is talking about? I am using CM9 stable and deep sleep has no issues.
But I do feel Galaxy Note was more stable with a GB ROM and I used a slimrom called CassiesXtraLite.
