I have looked at all of the threads and here goes...
I can't make phone calls. When I do I get a friendly message saying, "connection cannot be made." It seems to me that there is a disconnect with my provider. The provider is Sunrise.
Here are the details on the phone:
It is a Sony Xperia with the latest update 2.1 baseband .54. It is a "branded" phone from Orange Switzerland, but completely unlocked. I checked on the branded by looking at the services numbers.
I then modded the phone, and the phone call problems began. I did wipe everything as per the regular instructions. I upgraded using xrecovery. The phone can connect to Sunrise, and per the services menu it states connected to Sunrise. I can use the Internet connection, thus surf, get email, etc. What I cannot do is make a phone call.
Model: X10i
Android version: 2.2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Build Number: FreeX10-beta4_zdzihu
When I originally started the device I was asked for a network code and dismissed that dialog. Anything to do with it? And if so how do I get it back?
I want to stress that I wiped the machine clean with factory reset, etc, etc...

Before Pilot labels this thread as "Another thread in the wrong section", why don't try updating to the latest gingerbread update, instead of staying in freex10 which was abandoned a while back.
The new update has baseband. 71, which by far, is the best baseband for me in Australia, and surely so in Switzerland. Best signal and battery is amazing. Try upgrading to Wolfbreak's official 2.3.3!
Hope this is fixed

The problem we have here in Switzerland is that we are about the last in line to get an update. This is why I went down the modding route. It is quite annoying.... Baseband 54 is the latest and greatest baseband in Switzerland for the X10. Sony wants us to buy the ARC... I bought this phone JUST before they introduced the Arc...
Ok which forum should I have been posting this in?

The strange thing is I don't understand how Rogers knows who is running what radio. I don't think they have the ability to see that. How i figure they did this was just pulling ever Dream and Magic IME and blasting everyone. It's strange though that the calls and texts haven't stopped. Have the texts/calls stopped for people that have legitimately completed the update?

Thanks for the help! I called Rogers a few different times with some friends that have rooted and unrooted magics. I provided this information to the tech support reps each time and all but once they have reenabled data within a minute. They do still continue to get the blast messages though...
as a futher FYI for everyone.
After calling Rogers regarding my issues with the magic, the update, the fact that they stopped selling the magic, and the fact (untrue since i was rooted and running 1.6) that i would have been unable to call 911 before this update, Rogers ended up providing me with the choice to resign my contract at no charge and recieve a new phone for free. I end up moving to a blackberry which i plan to sell in short order and get a nexus or a milestone. I encourage you all to do the same as i can't see a reason why not too. Rogers is basically paying for my upgrade to a way better phone.
In closing all i have to say about that is that Rogers can suck it lol.
I think Rogers will still stick it to you.
The current Nexus One is not supported by Rogers GSM network. I did read the phone should be release at a later date supporting the AT&T / Rogers network.

"The Nexus One is available unlocked or with T-Mobile service. The phone recognizes SIM cards from any mobile service provider using the GSM standard, but is incompatible with the frequency band used by the AT&T and Rogers networks for 3G data. Additionally, the Nexus One is incompatible with CDMA networks such as Verizon and Sprint."

How do I edit this info on my phone? I'm running a Hero ROM.
Firmware version OK; Fixed the build number by editing the build.prop file, but I'm not sure how to do the other two.
Hello Everyone
Last week I noticed that I cant make calls via my Nexus 4. I had fully 3G signal but when i tried to call I had "finished call" a sec later. I tried again, again and again... and finnaly I rebooted phone. After that at last I made a call, but since that I still have the same issue from time to time. I noticed that I dont need to reboot phone its enough when I just turn off the data transmission. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

radio is baseband. however you need to be more specific about the m9615a since the important information is in the numbers at the end for the exact version like 1700.48, etc
Its version 2.0.1700.48

the mobile data seems to be working fine (it says H next to the signal bars) and web browsing is working as well. now when i try to connect my vpn on the device to listen to pandora it doesn't connect, when i try to tether wifi to my friends or to my laptop it doesn't work, even downloading simple mp3 files from various sources doesn't work. BUT downloading apps through the app store is working. although extremely slowly. now all of this happens when i try it on the mobile data, once on wifi everything is lovey dovey and i am a happy camper.
i went to the hidden menu and activated the lte/gsm/wcdma/ auto, and got a new sim card. tried different vpns and tried downloading from different sites, nothing works. i have searched for my particular problem or any variation of it on the threads here and on other site and nothing comes up.

Hello,
Do you find an issue ? I have almost the same problem. I think the problem is un baseband problem but i amn't sure !!!!
which country are you from? I think its got something to do with the firmware version or perhaps the frequency of GSM/LTE is different from where you bought it and where you're actually using it now.
Data connection not working after Kitkat update
Hi! I got a new LG G2 from Dubai through my friend. I am in India. It came with Jelly bean initially and i have updated it to kitkat 2 days before. Till the update the data connection was working fine. But after update it is not working. The data selection is on, but it is not showing any indicator in the notification bar at the top. And also no internet. I tried Airplane mode on and off, reset to factory default, restarting the phone. But nothing works. Can you please give me a solution to get this data connection work? That is the only reason why i bought this smartphone. Now that itself is not working .. Can anybody please help? I have given all the information about my phone below. Thanks!
Phone Model: LG G802
In the Hidden Menu it shows as;

Hello. Please forgive me for being a noob, but I'll do my best to be precise.
But, I decided to sign up and create a topic here because I need some specific help and/or clarification.
(Sorry if I am perhaps not in the correct place but my brain is numb from hours of reading all areas here)
The story:
Purchased used Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in Canada originally on WIND Mobile. Unlocked phone for use on TELUS.
After a month, the phone ended up getting blocked IMEI due to it being reported lost/stolen.
Purchased "IMEI repair" service with free SIM unlock and sent phone away to "Joe The Android Rooter" (androidrooter.com) based on other's similar experiences and praise.
Received phone back, IMEI good, phone in good working order.
The problem:
The Note 3 with manual APN settings via a phone call with Telus only has Network Mode options WCDMA/GSM (Auto), WCDMA or GSM only. Phone gets 3G signal. Slow data speeds are fine, but my text messaging and phone calls rarely work where I live, which is a rural area. Dropped calls, lost texts, or no service. My Samsung Galaxy S3 does LTE and never has an issue. I would prefer to have faster data and reliable network/modem mode.
Called Telus again, and was directed to this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489766
Have been reading around here wherever I could find information, and I'm not totally confident or clear about doing that.
It is all a little confusing to me so I need some straight forward help. I would be forever in debt.
The questions:
According to that thread, I would have to follow all those steps to enable LTE on my phone. What do I need to ensure that nothing has been modified with the IMEI repair so I don't run into any problems?
I tried the step of using the dialer for *#272*[IMEI]# and it brought me the options, and the Telus one (TLS) is listed. Can I just make that change, and voila? Or do I have perform root, etc? I'm just trying to make this easy and from what I read, I shouldn't even have been able to bring up that option through the dialer in the first place?
This thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618684 made me second guess everything.

You just have to do the 272 code to switch to Telus... You should have lte after that. But beware, this will completely reset your device... You will have to reconfigure it from scratch.
You might as well upgrade it to the latest firmware... Your baseband should be nb7 also... Or ni1 if you use the latest videotron firmware to manually upgrade. To your will still have to change the csc (272 code) to get the correct config from r Telus

Resetting isnt an issue or anything. My main concern is doing the code/csc change, still being able to do OTA updates, or at least over Kies. I'm happy enough sticking with OTA and TouchWiz and not toying around with the phone otherwise.
I've rooted (and loved) all my devices in the past (HTC, Motorola, LG) but had such a problem with my Galaxy SIII and when I tried to root it, not only was it the most difficult, but it turned it into a nice paperweight.
I got a good deal on this phone and like the size is all.

If you change the csc with the 272 code, you shouldn't have any trouble doing ota updates. All stock Canadian roms are exactly the same... You can download and install a bell rom on a Rogers device and retain your Rogers apps/config. Only the csc is changing... And this csc is there to reconfigure your device for the specific provider.
Worst thing worst, you will have to manually download and install the latest stock rom with Odin... And after that, you will be fine. But I really doubt that you will have to do this.
Well thank you!
I backed up the phone with Kies just to save my settings and simple stuff so I wouldn't have to do it again manually, but I don't mind doing it again if I have to.
Used the code to change the CSC, rebooted, LTE is working fine. Texts+calls all function like they used to without dropping my signal and stuff.
Just using Kies to restore little stuff and I'm good.
I checked to see if I have root, which I don't. What I wonder is why everything I read told me I shouldn't have been able to simply dial that code and change the CSC without rooting? I have seen a number of people having similar issues, but if it really was this simple without root, why is it not clear that you simply just need to do this? Heck, even Telus told me to root the phone. I didn't expect that.

You never have to root a phone to change the csc when the target csc is already included on your rom... Which is the case for the Canadian version of the note 3... It contains all csc for all Canadian providers (at least those that are selling it). And I think it's the same for all recent Samsung devices...
I believe You need root to change csc when the csc you want to use is not in your rom and you want to flash an other rom that includes the new csc.
tprevir had
How come then, such as on that thread here that initially sparked my willingness to do all this, was it not simply mentioned in there that one could just use the code and make the change, without having to deal with all the rooting/etc?
Of course rooting has many benefits, but some may just simply need the carrier/radio switch to enable LTE and nothing more - such as myself. (I'm okay with stock because of the S-Pen, but I am certainly considering rooting the device down the road, once it becomes "stale" to me)
As stated in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489766 "Have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (model: SM-N900W8) and wish to enable LTE for a specific carrier? Follow these in-depth instructions and you will enable LTE for this specific model." which was the most comprehensive thing I could find via Google, but it really did make me wonder if it was all truly needed, to which it was not.
probably no one know at that time that all Canadian Note 3 were using the exact same rom...
that being said, not all SM-N900W8 are the same... this model is also used in other contries... so if one had bought it somewhere else, he would need to do more things to finally get LTE and/or the correct carrier apps.
The thread is from April... and at that time, I just had my device for a few days... and I did not know that we could only change the CSC to switch the configuration for an other provider. I learned a lot by reading on this subject here and there.

Maybe i'm wrong but i noticed you have NB7 Rom but MJ4 baseband and your problem is probably here. I bought a used note 3 and it was in the same condition. i wasn't getting LTE. If you try to upgrade your phone via ODIN, you have to go to download mode by powering off the phone first . If you go to download mode by any other way the modem partition is protected and will be not updated. I've reflashed the entire Rom and now i have NB7 baseband and NB7 Rom and i'm getting LTE with fido. Hope this helps!

That's what I was concerned about at the beginning (NB7 & MJ4) but my solution was to quickly backup what few things I wanted to keep from my phone (a few pictures, contacts, settings) and then do the *#272 code and select Telus. Once it rebooted, everything worked good as new. In fact, my up/down speeds are through the roof compared to the SGS3 that I had previously and for whatever reason the quality of sound in phone calls are dramatically increased. Like AM radio to FM.
Either way, doing that code, nothing else had to be done on my phone - no rooting, no tinkering and no hassle - other than entering the code and selecting Telus.
Hi everybody,
first of all, I looked all over this forum and also I googled a lot but I was not able to find a solution to my problem. I know that this is an older phone, but it is the one I want because of the keyboard and build. So please do not tell me to buy something newer. So here it is:
I bought a brand new Motorola Milestone 3 in United States (originaly Alltel) and I unlocked it for GMS network with unlock code.
I want to use it in Slovakia, Europe on O2 - SK network. I can make calls, receive calls, send texts, receive texts but I can not get the data service to work.
I tried configuration texts from service provider, I tried to manualy set the APN, none of it worked.
Under Settings - Battery and Data manager - Data Delivery I have both Background data and Data enabled checked.
I managed to root it with KINGOROOT. Before I start playing with custom ROMs to get the data to work, I would like to try to get it to work on stock ROM. I do not mind staying with Android 2.3.6
Details about the phone:
System version: 5.8.25.XT861.ACG.en.US
Model number: MILESTONE3
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: N_03.18.37P
Kernel version: [email protected] #1
Build number: 5.5.1.1-84_D3G-25
Please if ALLTEL has some hidden settings for data access preventing me from getting my O2-SK data access, let me know if there is a trick how to change them or delete them or to do something with it. I really like this phone and I will be very glad if I will be able to use it with data as well. Not only calls and texts.
Things I think might work but need confirmation:
- installing ROM from Motorola DROID 3 XT862 from Verizon wireless
- installing ROM from Motorola DROID 3 XT860
- installing ROM from Motorola DROID 3 XT883 from Chinese operator.
So please if you know anything about solving this issue, let me know.
Have a nice day and thank you for your reply.
