new galaxy s ll owner, 2 questions - Galaxy S II General

hi as of today i have a new galaxy s ll coming from the Motorola atrix and i was just wondering what is the best and easiest way to root this phone and any recommendations on roms would be appreciated, thanks a bunch!

chainfire root is the easiest way look for it in the dev section

Yes, CF root is the most easiest yet effective IMO. Download from here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
And I don't like Custom ROM's.
Regards.

I agree and recommend CF-Root.

i recommend cognition S2
and for rooting just use CF-Root

[HACK][ROOT] The BEST rooting/installing clockworkmod recovery metod by Chainfire

Our dear Chainfire found and developed a new method of rooing and installing a custom recovery for the Samsung Galaxy note, through its "Initial CF-Root flasher".
That's basically a method of free up the device without lose the warranty.
I followed this guide on my SGS2 (with a cf-root kernel for SGS2 naturally) aaaaand...... IT WORKED!!
That's the link of the guide for the Galaxy Note:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784
This will be very useful if you don't have a USB JIG and want to keep your great smartphone in warranty! ^_^
NB: remember to use a SGS2 CF-root kernel!
ALL CREDITS TO CHAINFIRE!
Great news. maybe you should let Chainfire know so that he can update his SGSII thread?
Yeah, that's a good idea!
Ignore having a blonde moment
Does this really work yeah.
Im going to try it now, hopefully it works on my i9100p

[Q] 9500 Rooting - can I root using Adam kernel then restore original one?

Hi,
I've seen that the recommended way to root the 9500 is to flash the Adam kernel, then install CWM to get the SU application only properly and working. Once CWM is on the phone, is it possible to restore the original kernel and still keep root? I'd like to be able to keep the ability to get OTA updates and stay as close to stock as possible (apart from root of course!).
Regards,
Ian

Chainfire root method is available u can use that below is the link

[GT-I9500] CF-Auto-Root
I guess u need to have root to make CWM work
Also if u want to have OTA I guess u can try installing pre rooted firmware available some where in this forum itself

Thanks for that, I'll try it tonight when I get time.
Can you point me to pre-rooted firmware in this forum? I looked at every thread in the Dev and Original Dev forums and all of them seem customised in some way. All I want at the end of this process (if possible) is a stock, rooted phone. Maybe that might be a better way to go - I'll decide tonight - but I have to find the link first!

Ian

[Q] Rooting i9505 help

Hi guys,
I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction?
I have an i9505 on stock firmware v 4.2.2. I haven't tried to root as yet. I haven't had a droid for a few years now and I've never had a Samsung so I'm quite confused as how best to go about it.
I'm looking to run custom roms, Cyanogen etc so I'm guessing I'll need full root and a custom recovery? I was looking at CF-Auto-Root by Chainfire but it looks to be for use with stock/Samsung ROM's?
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

You have to downgrade to MK2 use safe strap to install the stock NB1 rooted rom then remove safe strap it's all here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692825

Just wanted to toss this one out there, use Kingo root, (When that is done and you try to update SU binary, it fails right from the get-go.) update SuperSU by chainfire in the Play Store, open SuperSU and update binaries. rooted and done.
BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I CAN'T GET TWRP TO INSTALL WITHOUT A SOFT-BRICK. I guess I'm going through terminal emulator -.-

The only things you loose by rooting is Samsung Pay and Android Pay and yes rooting will trip knox and knox will no longer work.
After you root the fingerprint feature will work fine, & s health will work fine too just be sure to remove your fingerprint prior to rooting.
Also be sure to enable the usb debugging and make sure that the OEM unlock is ENABLED in settings
before you root and before flashing anything that requires odin like a new firmware or twrp recovery.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

The way I rooted was I used the odin flash-able twrp, noverity-opt-encrypt and supersu method (not the cf-autoroot method).
You only need 4 files to successfully root your phone.
Odin3 is a windows application, odin flash-able twrp, noverity-opt-encrypt and supersu which is flashed using twrp.
Those 4 files are all you need to successfully root your phone.
Yes, I would advise anyone to root their phones that want their phone to have a lot
more new features and customizations and the ability to flash different custom roms.
If you are 100% satisfied with your phone as it is now and don't want or need
new features, options and customizations I would advise not to root the phone.
It's up to you.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I Really Appreciate Your Help Bro
Thank You And Have A Nice Day
