I just went to settings system update and there was 11.22mb update. First it downloaded then installed. I am attaching pics. I am on stock ROM 3.1 not rooted, no cw recovery installed. Wifi Tab 16GB
Yes and its been available for days now.
Lol i thought i am the first one that receive that update.
5th element what change does this update bring to the device?
No update here...
No update showing up for me.
no update here
Getting the update now but only after CWM backup, restore to 10.1 OTA ROM, then I setup and login to the Samsung Account to check for updates.
I believe this is an older update and not the anticipated TouchWiz.
- Lost Root
- CWM Recovery still in place
- Reapplied Root with CWM via: su_busybox_misc-sam_tab_10.1-051511
- Restored my data for apps where needed with Titanium Backup
- Awaiting official TW now....
<I had an unlocked tab before all this started if it matters, and yes, the unlock padlock at the system start-up is not longer displayed at all.>

Ok I will look for video update, no worrires about root. To make a samsung account goto samsung website and create there. If you are unable to find the link chat with live support and they will provide it. I was on TW Rom and had CW Recovery but today I flashed th stock Rom and removed CW Recovery. After that when I went to setting and clicked system update then it got available. Btw its good to go back to stock Rom and stock recovery bcos tomorrow is the official TW update is releasing in NY and I think if we already had the TW Rom from xda it will not install into the devices.

1) Stock ROM applied
2) Ensured I could login to Samsung.com (via PC but from the tab should work)
3) I had to open the Market app, accept the Google agreement.
4) Open Accounts & sync in Settings
5) Add Samsung account w/same details as step #2
6) Still in Settings, go to About tablet pick System updates / Update
7) Enter in Samsung details if prompted.
8) It checked and found the 11MB update.

I just got a prompted notification that 2.3.2 system update is now downloaded and verified in my phone. Just need to go ahead and ok the install/update on my phone. Not sure if most or all are getting this?
Should I? LOL
more info:
"Android 2.3.2
601kb
This system update from Google contains important bug fixes."
Go for it.
This is probably the update that includes the major SMS bug fix. Samsung posted to their official twitter account that and update to address that is coming very soon.
It looks like v2.3.2 is the one.
Funny thing though, I never had problems with the SMS bug. I have sent/received SMS (2k+). And when I got the notification, I just pulled the battery off to check my S/N to register in the Samsung website. LOL
Is there any other bug/fixes with this updates other than the SMS bug?
If you're rooted, you might want to wait and see if it's safe to do it (ie., doesn't break root) unless you're confident on how to get it back. The last update screwed with Recovery and gave some people some slight grief for a short period.
Just rooted
Wouldn't you know it? After I just finish rooting using the step by step guide, the first thing that pops up is that there is an update to install. So my question is, will installing this update kill my root? Or any other negative consequences for my newly-rooted SNS if I update to 2.3.2?
Just rebooted after update, seems that at least the browser got some kind of lagfix, for example www.n4g.com.
"Your system is currently up to date."
hmmm.... what about people on Custom ROMS ?
i check the Settings > About > System Updates
and there's nothing it says
"Your system is currently up to date."
Without thinking I chose to install it while being rooted and not backing up. After it rebooted it froze (when it couldn't find a recovery I'm guessing.) I pulled the battery, let it reboot, and I'm still 2.3.1 and rooted. Just FYI

Often one have to wait untill the devs implement the update into the custom rom.
Generally once you're on a custom rom, you're best to wait for the rom dev to give you guidance.

Not sure without being able to open the update file and see what it actually does.
IF you're going to try it. Have a nandroid backup made of your system as it is right now, and have a copy of CWM recovery handy to reflash via fastboot.
You'll probably have to re-root if you can even get the OTA to stick (like the one post above that says it didn't...)
so, back to stock recovery before update?
swype
FYI, swype did not work after update, had to reinstall, now works fine.
How do I get this update?
Made a check for updates in my NS, and I got none.
Still in 2.3.1 here.
Would those of you who get it, if you have a chance, please run the logcat on your phone BEFORE updating and try to catch the url so we can get a manual link for it:
in order to extract the url for the system update, we need to run alogcat from the market, then when the update notification appears look in your logs for a url that says something like clients.google . You can install alogcat, then set filter to clients.google

It's going to roll out slowly, just like the 2.3.1 and Market updates did. I don't think all the checkins in the world will speed it up by any significant amount.
What we impatient types need is someone who is offered the update to grab the url so we can just manually download it.

may I ask when this Update has been released? Kindly regards.
i dont have OTA enabled.

As mentioned in the other thread, many folks have reported no issues with update being applied to a stock rooted units including myself
I still have root access as well as CWM recovery
I found that if the screen stays blank or the update doesn't install, you can boot to recovery and choose reboot system now. Should (at least has for me) just reboot normally. You will get a notification that the update failed.
is this patch newer than the latest KME update or is this old news. I ve already put out a rom based on this update and released the stock ota and everything runs fine

A bit OT for Development, but as long is the issue was raised here, how does one disable OTA on the Tab 10.1? I found the apk files to neuter on my rooted Thunderbolt and Xoom, but cannot determine how to prevent any future OTA updates on my rooted 32gb LTE Tab. Maybe something different on the LTE version?
As mentioned above, there is already a ROM out that is rooted and safe to flash...
Just to add on to the OP comment....
I installed the TW rom and enabled my samsung account, login and got the OTA update. Installed it over the rooted ROM and CWM. After reboot, it locked my unlocked bootloaders - yes, the unlocked padlock symbol does not appear anymore during the boot process.
But I can still flash roms, etc. Have not tried to reflash CWM yet

I'm just trying to avoid the TW "update" if/when it is pushed to the LTE model.

The only problem is the gmail app, that, when updated, doesn't open the emails when I click on it, but instead closes itself. I uninstalled the updates, and now it works.

Will the OTA update work normally, now that I have the international ROM?
Yes,it works fine, keeps settings and everything. It removes root though [doesn't fail, just unroots] but this can be avoided by selecting 'temporary unroot' and 'keep root after ota' in SU settings beforehand. Just remember to untick 'temporary unroot afterwards.

hey nice post , i would love to do this
do u have any Screenshots for the same .
and does it actually get rooted after the process .
and how to restore the original chinese rom incase anything goes wrong
You'd need a custom recovery to back up the Chinese rom.
I'll get the screenshots for you.
No,this only gives the EN firmware, no root. However, there's easy rooting methods currently,so it's no problem.
It is very unlikely anything will go wrong, it's all very simple, but you can
a) Flash back your nandroid backup
b) Visit OPPO Chinese Forums and download the latest firmware.

You can't install OTAs with a custom recovery. You'll need to flash the stock recovery first and try again.
Got that system security OTA notification as well today. I'm using the stock ROM with root (SuperSU flashed via TWRP). Can I stay rooted to apply the OTA with the stock recovery or do I have to flash the RUU first?
Solved:
Make a backup with Titanium or however you like. Save all your data from internal SD. Afterwards apply latest RUU.exe from HTC (depending on your carrier). If you wanna reroot, I would suggest SuperSU 2.65, because newer versions end up in bootloops.
Don't expect Nougat this year...

If you are flashing from 3.39.531.7 to .12 then you need the stock recovery from 3.39.531.7 to be installed.
If you've already flashed a custom recovery like TWRP, then just pull down the RUU from HTC's Web site. Be warned, however, that it will wipe the phone back to factory-fresh, so back up all your files/data/photos/music etc. and remove the SD card just to be safe.
RUU 531.12 T-Mobile
And to answer your specific question, I don't have the stock recovery for 531.12, but I presume that I will later today after I RUU my own device. I don't know how to archive the stock recovery but I plan to flash over it immediately with TWRP.

I just got a OTA message and doing the upgrade to 3.39.531.21 will let you all know how it goes.
since I had TWRP installed , I had to download the RUU from HTC to do the first update to .12 , it went well 2 weeks ago when I first posted here, except it wiped out TWRP. then 3 days ago my phone started complaining , when ever I tried to change permissions on apps , with a message telling me to turn off draw over on the apps, all the searches on google, sent me to people telling me it was Twighlight causing the problem , EXCEPT I don't have that app installed, then it said something about turning off sidekeyborad? I never found it, I hard reset the phone, and as usual it ruined some of my contacts ?? I always loose 5 people I call all the time.

That's not a bug but a security feature introduced by google. It's meant to prevent malicious apps from making you accept things/permissions you don't want (keyword: tapjacking). Go to settings > app > open the three dot menu > configure apps > draw over other apps. There you can revoke that permission from any suspicious app.
There is an article about tapjacking on the xda portal if anyone wants more information. It's called "How tapjacking made a return with android marshmallow - and nobody noticed". Btw, the article explains why the security feature isn't perfect, too. (Using xda labs at the moment I can't add a direct link to the article. However google should be able to find it.)
I just hope for the classic Non-GP Sense UI. The one with the Grid View Recent Apps.
HTC One M9 is the last chance for the full Sense experience on Nougat, because is the last Non-GP HTC that is being updated.

My wife has started being prompted to this system update the last week for 24.81.3.en.ca. I'm wondering if she can hit install no problem or if i'll need to unroot (or do more?) before i can install.
I've looked and actually can't find much info on this specific update so not sure why that is but if someone could confirm that would be helpful as i dont want to brick her phone as she already doesn't like me 'fiddling with it' so i'll be a dead man but the constant prompts are also starting to annoy her.
Thanks!
I did this update today. Thought it was nougat. Biggest problem for me, was I seem to have lost 60gb of downloaded music on my 128gb sd card. Google play music started downloading EVERYTHING again. Also, all the programs that were on my SD card, disappeared from my home screens. The apps were still there in the app drawer, just had to put the shortcuts back. Not really sure what the update addressed.

I've never been able to relock a Moto device. I thought that was a Nexus only feature, but I could be wrong.

You can relock them but it will always remain as having been unlocked (status code 2). I've done it several times after tinkering with CM but after yesterday's update I can't do it anymore. I get a preflash verification error.

To save you looking around, here's a reminder how to stop updates: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/MOTO-G...llipop-update-notification/m-p/3204499#M19669
If you really want to get rid of the Lollipop update notification go to "Setting" then scroll down to "Apps" and select it. It will take you to another screen. Since it's asking you to update you have downloaded the update that enables you to upgrade. Under the "Download" tab scroll down until you find "Motorola Update Services" and select it. You'll have three options at the top, "Force stop, Uninstall Updates and Disable." Select "Disable." It will then prompt you "Delete data and disable app?" Select "OK." It will then ask "Do you want to replace this app with the factory version?" Select "OK." You will no longer be asked to upgrade. If you ever want to upgrade just enable it under the the app again under the "Disabled" tab in the App menu, just swipe to the far right and enable. Don't forget to download the update from the playstore to enable the upgrade to Lollipop in the future.

I simply use Link2SD to freeze apps like this.

Do NOT do this update. Nothing but problems since. Now will not recognize my sd card at all. Will not format it, gives tons of errors. Called Motorola support, they are aware of problems. Terrible idea.

That's unfortunate for you. Personally, I don't have any problem after the update. The only trouble I had at first was that it was refusing to install because I had root. I tried to unroot and then reinstall default recovery but I still had the same error. I had to flash factory image on the phone before installing it.
Alright the firmware with the update was added to https://github.com/motoxplay/stock !
Update 24.81.3.en.ca "error!" during install process

Hi Guys,
Newbie to this forum...here's hoping you can help resolve my issue. The latest update (24.81.3.en.ca ) does not want to install on my x play get an" error!" message mid-way through the install. Performed a factory reset ( a few times) as per Motorola customer support. Still get the same error message mid-installation…Any suggestions? My phone is stock ( not rooted ...yet). I noticed other users having issues with this update. Was wondering if I don't install this update will I still be able to install Nougat (when it becomes available)? Other than this issue the phone works great no problems.
Cheers!
