I will try this today with my wife's chinese Oppo. I hope it works
How did it go,Samribi?
It went well. Everything worked fine and very fast.
The only problem is the gmail app, that, when updated, doesn't open the emails when I click on it, but instead closes itself. I uninstalled the updates, and now it works.

This is known bug and hopefully it'll be sorted in the next release in a couple of days.
Will the OTA update work normally, now that I have the international ROM?
Yes,it works fine, keeps settings and everything. It removes root though [doesn't fail, just unroots] but this can be avoided by selecting 'temporary unroot' and 'keep root after ota' in SU settings beforehand. Just remember to untick 'temporary unroot afterwards.

The new Firmware is out, but the OTA download isn't available just yet. It's normally released a little later on in the day. Hopefully that will be the end of your GMAIL issue

From what I've read, u have to check the flag "temp unroot" in the superuser app, and after the OTA u can remove the flag.

No idea, sorry.
As far as I know only custom recoveries skip the wipe.
QUERIES
hey nice post , i would love to do this
do u have any Screenshots for the same .
and does it actually get rooted after the process .
and how to restore the original chinese rom incase anything goes wrong
You'd need a custom recovery to back up the Chinese rom.
I'll get the screenshots for you.
No,this only gives the EN firmware, no root. However, there's easy rooting methods currently,so it's no problem.
It is very unlikely anything will go wrong, it's all very simple, but you can
a) Flash back your nandroid backup
b) Visit OPPO Chinese Forums and download the latest firmware.
Has anyone managed to try Nodo's HQ Camera Mod for the phone? I can't seem to be able to install it :/
dp,oops!

Hi,
I am new to this forum and android stuff.
Please forgive me if I asked noob question.
I tried to search but got no complete answer.
My condition:
Nexus 7
build number JRO03S
used Nexus root toolkit 1.5.3
to unlock and root
used TWRP to install poitee kernel for usb dac.
Then:
The 4.1.2 updates notification show up
I pressed yes ... accidentally.
Now:
The build number becomes JRO03S
but the Android version is still 4.1.1
Question:
a. How to update to 4.1.2?
b. How to update without wiping any data and apps?
c. Do I have to reinstall the pointee kernel?
d. Will flashing rom ( updating to newer version ) wipe all things?
Sorry for so many questions,
For my situation it is a mixed up that I can't find similar condition on the internet yet.
Please kindly help and advise.
Much Thanks!
Btw,
I done below, no success:
1. quickboot
2. TWRP recovery
3. install nakasi-JZO54K-from-JRO03S.zip (from /sdcard)
4. error --> "Status 7" shown.
Cannot update.
Please Please help....
Use the wugs toolkit and go back to fully stock ROM, re lock the bootloader.
Only then will you be able to apply the OTA update.
backup your app data using titanium backup.
There is a modified version of the update that someone made. It doesn't perform the system checks that cause so many peoples devices to fail. If you can't run the update because you changed or deleted a system apk, read this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32752631&postcount=20
Don't run this if you're just not sure of why your update is failing.

Understood and Thanks a lot!!!:good:
that means all in all,
I still have to go through
the route of "Backup all --> Flash Stock & unroot --> Root --> Restore all".
However, considering the latest update seems don't have anything important or useful to me
So I just wait for the next more important update.
and save the drudgery next time.

He doesn't need to lock his bootloader, and he'll still not be able to run the update the natural way as long as he's got twrp or cwm installed. He can flash the factory rom and push the update through using custom recovery though.

Thanks for you advise,:highfive:
it is very kind of you to help.
I think may be the Status 7 error could be caused by the Custom Kernel Installed (poitee)
I better ask him in detail later on.
But mine is JRO03S,
May be it is safer to Return to Stock Rom completely and go for OTA later.
Sadly, This 4.1.2. seems got no very useful component to me,
I solely use it as a second PDA and Music Player with USB DAC.
I will have to wait for better solution then.....

The latest update allows you to boot into recovery mode without being plugged into usb. Now, if I get stuck in a bootloop, I don't have to look for something to plug my device into to restore. This feature alone is worth whatever hassle one may have to do to update.

O'really.....em...then it is a different story..(Safer for the future...)
Perhaps, I just:
1. use Titanium Backup to back up everything --> copy the "Back up" to PC (just in case)
2. use Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit 1.5.4 to Flash Stock n Root
3. if can Flash to 4.1.2 stock rom directly, OK
4. if can't --> flash back to 4.1.1 stock rom (JRO03S) and then OTA
5. Finally, use Titanium backup to restore Everything.
Have to Thank You you guys again!
I know I am a newbie... but I am learning......
Hate to be limited to what I was given......while I can experiment and make mistake to grow up !
So i am relatively new to android and still have a few questions if anyone could help out...
I have rooted my s4 using cf auto root with out any issues other than i couldn't check the f.reset time box (not sure if that's unusual or not) so i then paid for and downloaded triangle away to reset the counter, now i'm rooted and back to official status, using nova launcher pro and able to receive OTA updates.
Currently haven't received the new update where i am yet (Australia) , the update which allows apps to be moved to sd and fixes a few other issues. Obviously i would like to get this update, I have paid for and downloaded mobile odin, i assume that when the new update is available i can download on my pc and transfer and install the file from my phone using mobile odin without restoring to stock? And once the update is installed i will need to root again?
I guess my main questions are, with the cf auto root am i able to install custom roms, am i able to update without losing the root, are their any available updates from other regions i can use without issues currently, i see a lot of talk about kernels and i am really lost when it comes to that as i haven't needed to change anything dramatic, it's all been pretty automatic, just want to make sure i'm not missing some important steps.
Thanks to anyone that bothers to reply.
First thing it sounds you have an I9505 so to be clear next time you better specify which you have mate
Second after rooting you wont have any official updates since phone is still rooted, instead download a rom and flash in CWM so of you dont have this recovery you have many options I recommend Philz....
3) you can get any firmware you like... as it goes for languages the guys already patch the roms well moat of them so that all languages are available so basicly any will do....
4) when flashing a firmware with MobileOdin you dont need to root again it has an option enabled by default saying to inject SU binary after each flash to be cool you wont have to REroot again

Yeah, soz, it's a I9505, so even after getting it back to official by using triangle away i can't get OTA updates? Cos before i used triangle away i checked for updates and it said "modified firmware, not able to update", now it's back to "you have the latest firmware available". Even If i was able to do OTA updates when available Would that cause issues, meaning i'm better off just doing a manual update now via mobile odin? Is the custom rom necessary for anything i'm trying to do, cos i'm pretty happy with just having it rooted and nova launcher. I haven't found anything i can't do that i want to be able to do yet. Thanks for replying.

Hello everyone,
I've noticed that there hasn't been any threads about rooting the Xperia Z2 Tablet on lollipop. Most threads have discussed how to root the device on 4.4.4 and to create an update image to maintain your root whilst updating to 5.0+.
I've scoured the interwebs and found nothing so I'll make it easy for those whom don't know how to achieve root or don't want to do much work without creating images and such.
First off I'm not responsible for any inconvenience that may come with rooting your device and losing your warranty. I can and will be willing to help out in restoring or answering questions that you may have.
This method uses Kingroot... For those who have a problem with kingroot, it is only used to achieve root and this guide will also be showing you how to remove kingroot and install Supersu with ease. Using the link below download the necessary files: Kingroot V4, Supersume, XZDualRecovery 2.8.26. Place all these files on the root of your devices internal storage/SD card excluding Xdualrecovery as that needs a PC. (If you want to Xposed working I will also supply the files needed for that as well). https://www.mediafire.com/download/wrsajbgw2jr6czt
*Make sure you have unknown sources enabled under Settings>Security>Device administrators as well as Developer Options available and USB debugging enabled. (To enable Developer Options go to Settings>About Tablet>Build Number and click it 10 times).
1. Install NewKingroot.apk and run the application. It will notify you that a root method was found and to try it. It may take up to 2 minutes to achieve root. (If all you wanted was root and are content with kinguser then you're done! :good: if you want Supersu and/or a custom recovery then continue on to step 2!
2. Connect your Tablet to your PC via microUSB. On your PC open and extract the contents of TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined.zip to your desktop. Now double click install.bat a screen will pop up providing you with options to install xdualrecovery. Choose option 2. Installation on ROM rooted with SuperUser by pressing 2 and enter. The script will run its course and tell you to grant permission on your tablet. Open up your tablet and a kinguser prompt will show asking you to grant or deny permission to ADB (Grant it!!!) afterwards your tablet will reboot on it's own to TWRP. (I advise you to either make a backup of the tablet now or after you install Supersu as insurance in case of any mishaps). Click reboot System.
3.Install Supersume, open the application and run it. It will of course ask to grant it permission (Grant it!!!) it will check the environment (making sure that there isn't any Pokemon nearby that you don't need... Sorry Pokemon Go reference) and it will begin removing kingroot and install Supersu. If you didn't have Supersu installed already great! It'll open up Supersu automatically. Supersu may ask you to update binaries (DO NOT click TWRP as it will reboot and you have to start the process over from step one!!! :crying: Just click Normal and once it says successful you're done! :victory: The next step is optional if you Want Xposed.
*Optional 4. Install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk. Open your app drawer and open NDR Utils. It will ask for permission (Grant it!!!) now here you may choose your preferred recovery... Philz Touch Recovery,TWRP or Clockwork Mod Recovery. Click Reboot to Primary Recovery (fourth option) once it's rebooted you want to click install>SD>xposed-v85.1-sdk22-arm-by-romracer-20160620.zip and swipe to install. You should get a success when it's finished. Now simply reboot and your apps will be upgrading. Congratulations you now have root with SuperSU and xposed! :victory:
**if you wish to uninstall Xposed simply reboot to recovery and click install>SD>xposed-uninstaller-20151218-arm.zip uninstall the application once it's rebooted and you're good to go!
***if you have a problem with Supersume not working, reinstall Newkingroot.apk and run it again to get root. Then run supersume again (Grant permission!!!) and let it run its magic.
If anyone has issues, has questions or needs help PM and I will do my best to help and answer all your questions. Please don't be discouraged because I'm new here! I will be soon adding a link to a video tutorial on how all these steps can be done!

If you're talking about your google drive, there is no kingoapp.apk in there
All there is:
- supersume.apk
- tabz-lockeddualrecovery
- xposed uninstaller
- xposed v85.1
- xposed installer
I downloaded the most recent kingroot, which worked on my Verizon sgp561, and then I used your superuser file to change over to su. Seems to work just fine.. I'm on 5.1.1.
I tried the most recent kingroot and it fails.

Here we go. This is for S320VLUDU2API3 firmware, but probably works on any revision 2 firmware.
KNOX should remain 0x0
Instructions
1. Enable OEM UNLOCK
In Settings>About>Software info tap the build number 7 times to enable developer options. Once you've enabled developer options, developer options will appear in settings just above the About device option. Open developer options, the 4th or 5th option should be “OEM Unlock”. Turn on.
2. Flash the eng boot image.
This is a special boot image normally used by engineers, it allows selinux to be booted in permissive mode with relaxed root restrictions.
Do not replace this image with the stock image after rooting your device or you will possibly soft brick your device.
(See below for how to recover)
ENG_BOOT_S320VL_API3
3. Install boot image:
Download Odin v3.11.1
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the ENG_BOOT_S320VL_API3.tar to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
Reboot
Check in Settings>About>Software, your device should be in Selinux permissive mode.
4. Install and run Kingroot:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
Make sure you have an internet connection.
You may need to run Kingroot several times to gain successful root.
5. Install and run SuperSU me to remove Kingroot and convert to SuperSU (not required) :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ore&pcampaignid=APPU_1_uzPDVbGyFcGNyATHrqmoCA
6. Wifi fix:
modify the line below in /system/build.prop:
ro.securestorage.support=true to false
Recovering from a soft brick:
Flash the stock firmware provided below wirh ODIN
https://firmwarefile.com/samsung-sm-s320vl
Good luck I hope it works for you.

Does it reboot itself as soon as SuperSU me installs supersu? That's probably the reason for root not sticking.
You could try the script below, I have confirmation it still works for the same procedure.
Steps 3 to 12.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ide-how-to-root-tripping-knox-kitkat-t3129484
Obviously use updated apps and don't flash the boot partition.
You will also need to flash the system version of SuperSU not EverRoot.
When you get to step 12, don't flash the firmware.
Disable EverRoot and just flash this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/v2-64-2-66-supersu-mode-t3286120
That should give you permanent root.
Sorry, but I don't use any of those apps you posted.

It's not related to the bootloader, the bootloader is still locked, it's simply an incomplete installation of SuperSU. Probably due to permissions.
Follow the guide posted above and you should be good. I'd also suggest using root package disabler to disable knox.
Hit search in the app and type knox. Disable all knox related files.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.rootpackagedisablerfree
.
So can anybody confirm where we're up to with this. Has root been achieved? Are we good to post this as a viable root solution?

Hi,
still not rooting perm -- Followed the exact tutorial you have gave us , me and my friend and we both lost root.
stock > odin > kingroot apk > supersu me > flashfire > supersu-sytemmode.2.79 rebooted lost root.
the only way we can do this is not to ever reboot....to keep root

So even when flashing root with Flashfire still losing root? Did you try using the script posted above?
Also could you post a screenshot of Root validator after losing root?
I would also suggest flashing the stock firmware with FLASHFIRE.
Ensure to Uncheck the boot partition and disable EverRoot.
Add the system supersu zip to the install.
It may be remnants of Kingroot causing the issue. Flashing this way will ensure a clean system with just supersu.
Having the same problem
I can't even do the OEM unlock and wondering if Knox is stopping me from doing it. Kingroot gets to about 77% before giving up. Also tried "one click root" and "odin" and a couple of others. Tried to uninstall Knox with many different aps but noway will it let me. I bought this J3 in HongKong and it is full of crap and adds that pop up and cover the whole screen. I have had some negative affects on the phone with all the playing around I've done to the point where when I hold down the buttons (power volume etc) the phone just goes into its first normal boot screen and stays there. Hope I haven't hijacked the thread but thought I may have the same problem as the original thread poster

I was surprised at first when you directed me to this thread ashyx, the first word I saw was Kingroot and I was sure a dev such as yourself wouldn't use that.
I write against Kingroot all the time. It is information stealing malware that doesn't even give true root, packs PUPs, and sends IMEI and other info to China upon install (check the logcat).
And it's nortoriously hard to get rid of and replace with a different SU. From what I read above, true root hasnt' been achieved yet. Ive used KR a few times in the past, but never again. It used to be easier to replace KingUser w SuperSU. Not so much anymore.
Please folks, Kingroot IS NOT actual root ; please quit posting about it in a true professional developer site.
Ahyx, PM me if you wish. I'd like to work on any methods other than this. I can get the bootloader unlocked from Net 10. But not until having it hooked up w/ lthem for a year. I've already chosen to disconnect this device anyhow because I can't stand using a non-rooted phone. Too bad, it's a good machine. I got a great buy on it. $50US brand new. Same store today $99. WalMart = $120
I just bought an LG G3 for $45. Verizon model, interesting root. I had to downgrade firmware to achieve root. It's TWRPd, and running Dirty Unicorns 10.6, a nice rom, better once I mod it.
Tried the latest RR rom for it. Nougat was cool, but too early, too many bugs.
Hi everyone, I just want to share this tutorial for someone like me (NEWBIE, NOOB, BEGINNER, ZERO KNOWLEDGE).

Also, when I first registered my Finger Print, it’s malfunctioning, so I just deleted the OLD FP , register NEW FP and it works like a charm.
Now, I managed to flash the wonderful kernel of @mslezak.

Great job bro !
Note for those that don't know how to enable developer options - go to settings, about phone, click build number 7x. It should take you right to the Developer Options menu. Nice clear concise guide by the way! Glad someone wrote a simpler one than the one I wrote initially, only so many hours in the day.

Thanks for mentioning the dev. option. All credit to all of you guys who made this possible.
I've been trying for days to download the MEGA zip, but no matter what I do it always stays on 0% and gives me an error. I tried on different browsers, on different computers, and using the desktop app, I even tried with the mobile app with no luck. Could someone please share a mirror or another link, please?
Nevermind, I was finally able to download the file, my solution was to use chrome instead of firefox and close every window except the mega one... I left it like that for a couple of hours and it finally downloaded it.
Possibly a stupid question, but are there any downsides to this other than the risk of bricking?

You can hide the Magisk (setting/select the apps/then hide magisk) so it will not detect that you are rooted.

Hi,
2 questions. First of all, does this method work for all of the 5G phones? As in the European version etc. And second of all, will the phone brick if you update it via OTA, or do we need to do this method every time?

Hi, see attached. You have to rename the Magisk after selecting in pic. # 1.
You can find the FP calibration procedure here in XDA.

Hi Guys, first of all thanks for awesome tutorial. Got it rooted and enjoying the perks. However, some issues do exist. 1. The phone has detected a new update v4.09. Will the root be deactivated if I update the system? Second question, my banking app is detecting the root and does not want to start. I did set magisk manager to hide it from the app and restarted the phone even, but no luck the app still sees the root. Any solution for it? Thanks all
