Rooting and Unrooting an Italian GS2 - Galaxy S II General

Hi, I'm a newbie owner of the amazing GS2.. I had an Acer Liquid before.
I'm now planning to root my device and to flash a Mod Rom.
After reading around in the forum I'm a bit confused about CSC.
The last Italian stock should be:
I9100XWKE7_I9100XWKE1_I9100ITVKE5 (I downloaded it in order to restore the phone in case of needs)
but my phone is:
PDA: KE7
PHONE: KE1
CSC: KE4
I don't think the phone is branded, even if I bought it from vodafone I don't have any Branded App or Logo.
Kies says that the phone "can't be updated", so I should have installed the last stock Rom
So, why I have the CSC4 instead of CSC5?
Is it a problem If I want to to root the phone flashing "CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEU_KE7-v4.0-CWM4"??
Is my phone going to switch from ITV (Italian) to XEU (European)?
Is it right what I'm going to do or is it completely wrong? (I'm not planning to brick my phone until november )
Thanks in advance
PS: If already exist a thread about this please post the link, I dind' find it

Un Root

Hi I rooted my phone but now need to send it back so need to unroot it. From what I gather I just need to flash the firmware with Odin and it will be un rooted. When I do *#1234# on my hand set it says:
PDA:I9000XXJF4
PHONE: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000TMUJE6
Am I right that I just need to flash the PDA version?
So which firmware do i need to replace the original and unroot?
I9000XXJF4 or I9000XXJF3???
Thanks I'm desperate!

Hi,
My phone when it came, all the files were the JF3 version. It's weird that you have a different version to each of the components.
Your best bet is to download JF3 and install ALL the 3 components.
Really? So does anyone else have different ones for phone and PDA?
I was wondering if anyone has worked out how to Un-Root? Would a factory data reset do it?
I tried that and it dosent

Was wondering if this would work to un-root the phone. I have not rooted my handset yet as I am a bit apprehensive incase I am unable to un-root due to possible warranty issues that may arise.
I just checkec mine. It's all JF4. I bought it on 7 Jul.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Why is it going to warranty? If there is a hardware fault then at least in australia it would be criminal for them to refuse to repair it under the warranty. If you are in america then the rooting has just been declared a fair use under the new DMCA rules (your software, your choice).
If you have software issues tho then you might have some fun. Why not delete the superuser app and then leave it at that. I'd be amazed if rooting the phone in an official way isn't the first thing they do when they get it in at service.
Also the different versions are because of your provider. TMUJe6 would correspond with your provider (TMobile?) and JE6 just means that they released their APN and branding applications later than the phone build. IMHO this would be correct for your phone.

My previous Galaxy S was faulty so I flashed a different firmware to see if it was software related and the problems still existed so it was a faulty phone or something. T-Mobile replaced it with a brand new one even though the firmware and CSC files were different.
Oh and my previous one was JF3 for both PDA and Phone but current one is same as yours JF4 and JF3.

Need "original" Bell firmware for Odin

So, I have confirmed that the "sdcard" in my SGS is dead. Bell is happy to send it in for repair, but don't have an original Bell firmware on the phone anymore, and I'm concerned about warranty support.
The phone is unable to boot, so I can't use the Kies app at all.
I am able to flash no problem using Odin, but I don't have a source for an original Bell 2.1 ROM to use with Odin. All the stuff I can find has strange filenames (things that don't obviously go into the blanks in Odin).
I'm a relative noob (obviously), but if someone would give me a hand getting a 2.1 Bell FW flashed, I would really appreciate it.
go to sams firmware and download JH2
that's the original stock ROM for Bell
hey!
I am in need of these files too.
Could someone instruct this noobie on how to obtain these files?
My phone randomly softbricked after i listed to the music and i lost my recovery mode along with it (however, i got download still yay!)
I am somewhat familiar with Odin due to the youtube video and tampering with it, but i cant seem to locate the Bell vibrant files i need.
My computer is already updated with samsung drivers and is basically ready to go.

Root? Flash? Confused Noob Question???

Greetings all,
A couple weeks ago I heard of the Tab so read a few reviews and went to buy it a week ago. It is relevant to mention that I am ATM working in Saudi Arabia.
As soon as I turned it on I got my first disapointments. Its in Arabic and NO Market app installed.
After playing around with it not knowing what I did to it had to reset back to factory settings a couple times. Another disapointment, it resets to Arabic and every time I have to ask someone to change it back to English for me.
Now I am trying to figure out how to install an English based ROM that has the Market App on it. First I read about rooting then about flashing then the warning not to use JM6.
I would appreciate some advice.
Is rooting a pre-requisite for flashing?
Is SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse the simplest and safest way to root?
Considering the warning would instead of JM6 be advised to flash to JK5 or some other ROM?
Current firmware
PDA: P1000JPJJ1
Phone: P1000JXJJ1
CSC: P1000JPJJ1
Thanks to all for any help.

[Q] if i didn't did backup for my stock rom i still get back to it ?

hello
i have now the litening 1.5
and i didn't backed up my stock rom
there is a way to back to stock rom now ?
my phone from clove.uk
(i know that it might be at www.samfirmware.com but don't know what to search....)
thanks
and sorry for the newbie question
Just flash KF2 in odin again (presuming thats the firmware you were on before litening rom) and you will be back on stock firmware with all your apps and data in tact.
do u mean this one ?
I9100XXKF2 ## EXT4.PIT 2.3.3 2011 June MULTI - CSC - OXAKF2 ?
and how can i be sure that this was my firmware ?
as i said ... my phone from clove.co.uk bought it on 9/6/2011 if it help
Hi I've byen wondering the same thing.
I flashed my phone before taking notice or backup of anything and so haven't a clue which versions my phone came with.
It is great that all the stock stuff is available but does not help me much as I have no clue whether, whatever I flash will be the same as what the phone came with...
I suppose that it is too late to think about that and not possible to find out exactly which combinations the phone came with from emei or serial no. or something like that..
by the way
if my friend bought the galaxy s II from clove 2 weeks after i did
it should be same firmware ?
(he didn't root it and flashed it yet....
then he still with the stock rom , it can help me ?
You can flash back to KE7 stock. This has been available via the official KIES Samsung channel.
Check the Development forum for stock firmware:

XWKE7
Firmware info
PDA:XWKE7
PHONE: XXKE4
CSC:XEUKD1 (XEU)
Build date: 18/05/2011
Generic XEU: http://www.multiupload.com/IBRBHDUDXI
MD5: F388DB98FC83861C2F22E607AE940DBB
and how i can really know that this is what i had before i flashed the litening 1.5 ?
and what about the kernel ?
should i need to do something about it ?
At the end of the day I don't think it matters what firmware you go back to as they are all pretty much the same with no major changes. If you are in the UK then it probably came with KE7 as that is the latest official ROM for this area. Litening ROM 1.5 is based on KF2, so flashing stock KF2 won't do any damage.
Before flashing anything do a backup just in case, but if you flash any PDA in odin none of your data will be wiped.

[Q] How to signal lollipop 5.0.1

Hey all
I am unfortunate to have the UK N910F phone (PDAN910FXXU1ANK6 and CSCN910FH3G1ANK1) as this has not received the lollipop update. I have not rooted the phone and don't really want to root as some apps will not work with root I. E. Banking apps.
My question is there a international Rom that I could flash with Odin as I tried a lollipop rom with the wrong PDA and CSC (PDA N910FXXU1BOC3 CSC N910FVFG1BOC2) and that just bricked the phone, luckily samfirmawre had my original 4.4.4 Rom so my phone is OK
Many Thanks
Alexndr's BOC3 ROM will allow you to keep your current CSC:

Yet another person not to bothered about reading forum rules.
Answering your question. There is German soft for n910f on sammobile. I flashed it via odin and it works just fine.
Be careful
About your question, be careful with that, if you have your phone from a carrier (including if you unlocked it), be careful because, for example, here in Spain if you have your phone with Vodafone and you change the ROM to a non-VF, you may notice that your payment by NFC won't work. BTW I works with some banks in europe and I had no problem with whatever o their apps changing the ROM to a official from another country (nor to a custom rom, but that's your choice), now I have your same model, bought unlocked to samsung with the indian ROM from sammobile
