Un Root - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi I rooted my phone but now need to send it back so need to unroot it. From what I gather I just need to flash the firmware with Odin and it will be un rooted. When I do *#1234# on my hand set it says:
PDA:I9000XXJF4
PHONE: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000TMUJE6
Am I right that I just need to flash the PDA version?
So which firmware do i need to replace the original and unroot?
I9000XXJF4 or I9000XXJF3???
Thanks I'm desperate!

Hi,
My phone when it came, all the files were the JF3 version. It's weird that you have a different version to each of the components.
Your best bet is to download JF3 and install ALL the 3 components.

Really? So does anyone else have different ones for phone and PDA?

I was wondering if anyone has worked out how to Un-Root? Would a factory data reset do it?

I tried that and it dosent

Was wondering if this would work to un-root the phone. I have not rooted my handset yet as I am a bit apprehensive incase I am unable to un-root due to possible warranty issues that may arise.

I just checkec mine. It's all JF4. I bought it on 7 Jul.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Why is it going to warranty? If there is a hardware fault then at least in australia it would be criminal for them to refuse to repair it under the warranty. If you are in america then the rooting has just been declared a fair use under the new DMCA rules (your software, your choice).
If you have software issues tho then you might have some fun. Why not delete the superuser app and then leave it at that. I'd be amazed if rooting the phone in an official way isn't the first thing they do when they get it in at service.
Also the different versions are because of your provider. TMUJe6 would correspond with your provider (TMobile?) and JE6 just means that they released their APN and branding applications later than the phone build. IMHO this would be correct for your phone.

My previous Galaxy S was faulty so I flashed a different firmware to see if it was software related and the problems still existed so it was a faulty phone or something. T-Mobile replaced it with a brand new one even though the firmware and CSC files were different.
Oh and my previous one was JF3 for both PDA and Phone but current one is same as yours JF4 and JF3.

Need "original" Bell firmware for Odin

So, I have confirmed that the "sdcard" in my SGS is dead. Bell is happy to send it in for repair, but don't have an original Bell firmware on the phone anymore, and I'm concerned about warranty support.
The phone is unable to boot, so I can't use the Kies app at all.
I am able to flash no problem using Odin, but I don't have a source for an original Bell 2.1 ROM to use with Odin. All the stuff I can find has strange filenames (things that don't obviously go into the blanks in Odin).
I'm a relative noob (obviously), but if someone would give me a hand getting a 2.1 Bell FW flashed, I would really appreciate it.
go to sams firmware and download JH2
that's the original stock ROM for Bell
hey!
I am in need of these files too.
Could someone instruct this noobie on how to obtain these files?
My phone randomly softbricked after i listed to the music and i lost my recovery mode along with it (however, i got download still yay!)
I am somewhat familiar with Odin due to the youtube video and tampering with it, but i cant seem to locate the Bell vibrant files i need.
My computer is already updated with samsung drivers and is basically ready to go.

How to put my Note back to original state as my Note screen is faulty

I got my Note yesterday from a phone shop and my screen has loads of lines across it when dark colours are displayed...not happy! Its not damaged so its not my fault I only noticed last night and its been stressing me out.
I rooted the phone earlier and also I installed the ICS theme, can I get back to original state before I go to return the phone, help needed please! Thanks.
try settings, privacy, factory data reset. if that doesnt work, you may need to flash.
Reflash back with the stock regional ROM, Although I have no idea yet as to where to get the ROM.. last time I checked with Samfirmwares they dont have it yet.
Anyone know of another way to unroot, maybe by using the unrooting method?
Here is how I rooted, I used this guide in the following link http://knowmydroid.com/guide/root-samsung-galaxy-note
...so you know what method I used so that you can tell me the proper unroot solution, thanks.

I have no idea what ROM came with your phone, might as well check with the store and download the correct ROM.

How do I do that?...ring them up? I bought my phone from the Carphonewarehouse incase you have an idea of what rom it is
I have the update rom on my phone, all I need is either another rom or the stock theme to remove my current theme (ICS) so that they don't know I had root, then I can unroot my phone.
The phone will be unrooted in the process of flashing a stock ROM. Did you pull a nandroid when your phone was (almost) still stock? You could restore that against the theme. As for root/unroot, I did jot down my original version: XXKJ4. I find that ROM, I'll be fully stock again. Check the thread of the root solution you used, there might be instructions on how to unroot. Also there is a dedicated how-to-unroot-thread in the dev section.

SAMMOBILE
Anyone in the UK who like me purchased their note from carphone warehouse, if you hop over to sammobile, you will find for the N7000, a nice stock rom listed for the note, and it is the carphone warehouse version..
I have it as backup to flash just in case it ever has to be reurned, but for the record, for those that did not know, As long as it has a rom that is stock for your region on it when you return it then its fine, Flashing or upgrading a stock regional rom does not affect your warranty, so dont worry about binary counters.
I think custom roms and kernels do affect warranty tho.
check this link to download and install as directed..

[Q] Reflashing Original Firmware Advice

Hi all im looking for some advice if anyone can help.
I have asked on another thread but I need to get this sorted ASAP
I have had my Note 3 for a week, I got it from Three UK and when it arrived it had branded firmware. I flashed the latest BTU firmware I could find on Samfirmware and all went well and I had no problems. However I may now need to return the device due to a couple of issues and if I try and flash back to the Three Uk branded firmware it fails in Odin everytime. Also if I try using Kies to restore that also fails. Is there any way back to the original branded firmware
Any help greatfully received !!

If the latest BTU firmware is the XXUBMJ3 You have now the XXUBMJ3 bootloader. Whit this bootloader You can't return to an older Firmware. It's all.
Thanks very much for the reply and confirmation of what I already suspected.
So there is no way I can get the branded firmware back on the phone at all.......that presents me with a real problem.
Thanks again

Look, I remembered now.
Have You a Nandroid backup from Your old branded firmware? If Yes make a restore from it after wipe data + cache + dalvik and must work.
I tried it one time and worked for me. It seems the bootloader not control the restore Rom, but only the installs by Odin.

To have a nandroid he would have to have a custom recovery.
If this is the case then the warranty would be void anyway through Knox 0x1.
I cant see why the btu firmware would be a problem.
It is official firmware from Samsung so is not in any way messing with device that could cause a problem

It is not a BTU problem but a Firmware XXUBMJ3 problem. It arrive at all CSC.
It's same the S4 from MH8 firmware. The reason is the secured system KNOX. Older bootloaders aren't secured enough.
The 0x1 before the warranty is a great secured reason. A Phone whit 0x1 is insecure for Enterprises and Governments.
I returned my S4 with unbranded software on it to Three and they replaced it and never questioned me...
Im pretty sure you'll be fine as KNOX is not triggered and its official firmware.
Downgrade fails MJ6 to MJ3
I have upgraded from stock MJ3 to MJ6 BTU using Odin
Due to some instability I tried to downgrade and flash my MJ3 stock. It failed 3 times. I resigned and flashed MJ6 again and that went well.
Why can't I downgrade to MJ3??

Trouble getting KitKat

Hi,
I've just got a Note 3 so not sure of all the ins and outs. I've been reading the forum and worked out it's status is Custom.
I don't think it's rooted, I certainly haven't done it.
Basically I want the Kit Kat update but it tells me I can't update OTA as it's modified and through Kies it says it's up to date which isn't true. I'm on 4.3.
Anyway If I can do the update with Odin I'd be happy but could you help me:
Firstly what version of Odin should I use. I can see a 3.07. It seems old but is that OK ?
Secondly I can't work out what firmware I need to download for it. I have done *#1234# and this is what it tells me the following:
AP: N9005XXUBMJ3
CP: N9005XXUBMJ1
CSC:N9005DBTBMJ3
Any ideas what it is and which I'd need to download for it ? When I got it the phone was set to German by default but I'm not sure if that means it is German or not.
I'd like to use a UK firmware if I can but would that screw the phone up in some way. I've read about KNOX.... not really sure what that's about but it doesn't sound too good if I break it.
Basically any help on what to download and I guess how to use Odin to put it on there would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you
Daniel

any ODIN will do. I used 3.0.9, and flashed well.
You can download any firmware. don't worry. If you wish to use German firmware, there's NB7 - DBT, but this firmware need a pit file to be flashed together with it.
If you want UK, there's also UK version
The latest one, which most of the dev use as a base for custom ROM is NC2 czech. I personally have flashed this stock firmware into some of my friend's Note 3, and run into no trouble with ODIN 3.0.9.
You should try to go into download mode, and see what is written down there. As you said your system status is modified/custom, I believe if you go into download mode, you will find KNOX = 0x1.
I found this state as well on my friend's new N9005 stock 4.3 unrooted. My friend bought an export set for Europe countries (and it happened to be German firmware as well, same as yours)
cheers.
Thanks for the reply. It's good to know it shouldn't hurt whichever I decide to go with.
In terms of where I should get the ROM from. Is http://samsung-updates.com/ the best place to get it ?
Here http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N9005 I see there are some NC2 ones but no Czech one. Would the top one the Philipines one work ?
Also I can't get into Download Mode. It just comes up with android system recovery (3e). Is that a problem ?
Sorry I really haven't a clue with all this.
Thanks

go to here : www.samfirmware.com
login there / sign up if you have no account.
just type ur device on the textbox firmware. you will find the firmware that you want
philipines one should also work. try to find those without the provider carrier (less bloatware)
to go into download mode : power down your device. after that you can power up by using ==> vol down + home + power, once you go in then press vol up to continue.
to go into recovery mode (the one u mentioned above) : power down your device. after that power up using ==> vol up + home + power.
Right just realised what I was doing wrong and got into the Download Mode. It says KNOX Warranty Void 0x1
Does that matter ? I don't need to use the private file storage thing really to be honest.
Can I still flash a ROM OK ?
And again is that one on samsung-updates.com OK ?
Thank you!

to be honest, KNOX flag trip will only affect if you have use the KNOX container earlier before it trip.
But if you never use, it should be fine. It will only a matter of warranty which is the main issue. But since you said you have never done anything to your phone, I believe you have bought it from 3rd party (non samsung store) which claim to be an export set (which come without samsung warranty). This thing happen to 1 of my friend actually which I mentioned on my above posting.
But don't worry, means now you don't need to worry about KNOX trip anymore (unless you want to bring up the issue to whom you bought the phone from, and actually it will be useless as well, as no prove the knox is tripped by the seller).
You can just download any firmware. Go to the site I mentioned earlier (to get the newest) : www.samfirmware.com
get it from there.
OR
you can visit this thread, and get it from the mirror link there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643109
the NC2 is listed at the 1st post on the top part (easy for you to find). My opinion better go to this thread. This thread using mega storage, faster download compare to the at at samfirmware
cheers!

[Q] Cannot update to lollipop using FOA

First things first, I am not very techy and am only trying to accomplish one goal on my galaxy s5 - update to lollipop.
I'm trying to do it by going to Settings --> About device --> Software Update. Everytime I try it check's for updates and says 'The Latest Updates have already been installed'.
My device is unrooted and running Android 4.4.2 and is unlocked. My brother bought the exact same phone and got the update over FOA more than a month ago!
I can't find anywhere on the internet to help me out, I don't want to update manually.. I wan't to know why my device won't update automatically.
Any thoughts on what I can try? Does it need a factory reset? Has anyone else got this issue? Help much appreciated.
sorry my friend the only way is to manually update it using odin on computer.
but, you can try to connect your mobile with kies and see your csc country then look in sammobile website if your country csc got lollipop, if so try to factory reset and then check for an update , but first make backup of your data.

But why won't it update via FOA? Is this a common thing where Samsung picks and chooses who gets it (seems kinda wrong), or is it possible I've got a fake phone? I've got a lot of stuff on the phone and don't really wanna go through the whole backup system restore process. I type on google my problem and it just comes up with stupid articles like 'How's lollipop treating you'.. it's like nobody has my problem but me?
Did some more digging around and found the following info for my phone:
AP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CSC: G900FOXX1ANJ1
Searching the CSC on Sammobile tells me that the latest version for my phone is still 4.4.2 (not even 4.4.4?? It's like Samsung forgot about it).
Oddly, it says the country is Portugal (TPH) for this CSC, even though I bought a UK phone. This prompted me to check the IMEI on IMEI.info which confirms that the phone is legit..
I downloaded keys at it tells me the firmware version is:
PDA:NJ1 / CSC:NJ1 / PHONE:NJ1(TPH)
It says the latest firmware is already installed.
I'm wondering if my phone will ever get updated to lollipop (the fact that its still on 4.4.2 tells me maybe never). So I want to try and do this manually. Is there a way to change the country code? Will this void my warranty? Or can I manually force lollipop onto the phone via Kies? Do I need to root?
Some clear instruction for me to follow would be much appreciated. Thanks guys

yes it is... but i want lollipop .. will it void it? If yes thats ok Ill go ahead anyway
Rather than focusing on the goal of upgrading to lollipop, do some research about whether you actually want/need to.......
Quite a few members have posted here about problems and instabilities with lollipop.
Also, if you intend to root your device and tweak/modify it, the general advice is to stay at 4.4.2, as 5.0.0 tends to 'reduce the possibilities'......

I have no idea if it will void the warranty. When I flashed my device to 5.0 with the Polish release my CSC changed to XEO from H3G and my knox is still 0x0. What is your carrier? Head over to sammobile.com and download the rom corresponding to your carrier, and flash it as normal.

^^ I am currently flashing back to 4.4.2 so my stability and battery life isn't wrecked. I would also recommend staying on KitKat.
5.0.0 seems to be (by all accounts) a bit of a 'rush job'......
5.0.1 and/or 5.0.2 will be more polished and stable.....
Also Samsung have (from what I've read) included a new 'secure' bootloader with 5.0 and beyond, which apparently is causing 'issues'.........

The latest firmware for Portugal TPH is 4.4.2, Lollipop for that region has not been released yet.
If your brother has 5.0 on his phone with UK firmware than he most likely has BTU firmware
You can update yours to BTU which as actually a UK & Europe generic multi CSC firmware from Sammobile here. LINK
You will need to download it you will need Odin to do it, but after installing you will need to do a factory reset otherwise you CSC will not change and the phone will be unstable
Lollipop 5.0 for me is extremely stable and battery life far better than any other version I have had, screen clip below shows 2 days 20 hours since last charge and phone at 62% this is with light usage though

Hi ag4751.. this sounds good.. I will get odin and try this. Do you mind being more specific about the factory reset? Is this something I do within settings or do I need to do that volume up power off button thing and access the function from there? Also (probably silly question) but does factory resetting completely wipe all my data and apps? thanks

Yes, factory reset will basically wipe you apps, data everything so backup everything, pictures, music etc, anything that is on your internal storage your External SD Card wont be touched everything else will, It resets the phone to the out of the box condition so if for example you are on level 300 in candy crush unless its synced up to facebook you will be back at level 1.
You do the Factory reset through Settings > User and Backup > Backup and Reset.
You will need to enable Developer Options in About Device if not already done as you need to enable USB Debugging.
Factory resetting is a last resort normally but it does tend to clear a lot of problems if the phone is not working properly but do it after you have flashed the new rom.
This is a good guide to using Odin, its on the S3 forum but the procedure is exactly the same with the S5, If you download the BTU rom it will contain a single .tar file you need to extract that from the zip file.
Reply here is you have any other questions regarding flashing with Odin it is simple but if you are not used to it, it can be worrying.
Cool. I'm downloading the firmware now. I've got USB debugging enabled. A question about the factory reset though. Is there a reason why we do this within Settings and not by pressing the power-->volume down--> home button and accessing those options? Under that menu there is also a 'wipe cache' option. Basically I was planning to flash the firmware using odin, then immediately factory reset and wipe cache before actually loading up lollipop. Does that sound ok?

You can do it that way, the only reason Factory Reset is in setting is to save you having to boot into recovery to do it, its exactly the same, there are additional wipe options in recovery such as cache and the factory reset, a factory reset will wipe the cache as well when its run you don't need to do it separately.
If you want to wipe the cache and factory reset from recovery it wont hurt anything.
