Is anyone able to root HTC Desire HD Froyo 2.3.3 ?? - Desire HD General

HI
I am using HTC Desire HD and was rooted before upgrading it to 2.3.3,
now I am unable to root it and
is there anyway to root it,
I try a lot of software like Gingerbreak 1.2 and Visionary and z4root and alot of other software, but all fails
any help please

First of all 2.3.3 is Gingerbread.
And how did you upgrade your phone?
visionary only works with 2.2

You should downgrade first, then you can permroot your DHD. Follow the link in my signature

OK..So till now there is no root for 2.3.3 , is this is why I have to downgrade...

Yeh no root for 2.3.3 and i doubt people will bother when its this easy to downgrade and then install custom firmware.

how bad, I really like the new things in 2.3.3, but anyway having a root access on the mobile will be better as everything was added in 2.3.3 can be installed as a software on 2.2

How about:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/
It's as easy as "download -> run" and it works brilliantly!
I suggest, instead of doing it on Windows and dealing with all them complications, just booting a Ubuntu Live CD (it's not as bad as it sounds, I actually liked it the first time I tried it and now I have it installed by my Windows) and just run the command:
wget http://droid.neolobster.com/roms/aahk-25102011.zip && unzip aahk-25102011.zip && sudo ./hack-ace.sh
Click to collapse
in terminal, press "1" and be afk for 5 mins.
Doesn't erase your data, doesn't format your phone, doesn't downgrade your Android OS.
What it DOES do is:
Automagically turn your sdcard into a goldcard
Set Radio S-OFF
Set SuperCID
Remove Carrier SIMLOCK
Install Clockworkmod Recovery
Root the phone
Install RomManager
Install Superuser
Good luck with it

This is the Best way to root your phone, I done my dhd in 6 minutes, and on first time, no problems at all. You can't find for the moment better way to root your phone with one click and s-off too, just have look :

I agree. I was on gingerbread stock using the ota update. The ace hack kit featured in the link is the way to go.
Now I'm using ARHD 6.1.4 Rom.

I also rooted my Gingerbread (HTC's release 2.50.x) using Advance Hack Kit mentioned earlier. Worked like a charm, no data lost, perfectly rooted in under 5minutes.

Ahhk is the one. What Rom you use

Thanks alot, it has been a very long wait for this to come,
and finally my DHD is rooted and fully function
Next time I will never make any update before getting the root first
thanks alot

My DHD is 2.3.3 and Sense 2.1, just now i get goldcard, and now i am trying to downgrade, after that it will be possible to get ROOT

You don't need to downgrade if you use Advanced Hack Kit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352&page=200

Hack kit is working perfectly! It includes Downgrade/Root/S-Off in practicly one click. Afther that you just need to do ENG S-Off and you're good to go with ROM & Radio flashing

New Market App

I. Before You Begin
1. If the apk doesn’t work for you you can easily uninstall it like any other app.
2. This apk is touchy and doesn’t work on all phones, so give it a try.
II. Download and Install the APK
1. Download the New Android Market 2.2.6
Android Market 2.2.6
2. Plug your phone in via USB cable and mount the sd card so you can transfer files to it.
3. Copy the .apk file to the root of the sd card (NOT in any folder, just on the sd card itself).
4. Unplug the phone.
5. Download a File Manager from the Market (Linda File Manager Free is good).
6. Open the Linda File Manager and navigate to the SD card and click on the .apk and follow the prompts to install it.
7. Enjoy!
Thanks Artem / Android Police for sending this in!
If installation isn't succesful, you can try to flash via recovery this file:

Note: not all the features are avable now, the app should be out officially in two weeks. For example, new categories will be avable soon.
I don't know anything about the refound.. but now you can see all the screenshots that developers post.

Thanks for this mod, I'm a real noob in this. I have few questions
1. Before flashing with this new Version, How do I backup complete OS (Just in case some thing went wrong)
2. Before installing, You said "Connect via USB & Flash it!". What type of connection we have to select (as it prompts to select)
3. Is this version is official from Android or by any other Developers group ?
Thanks in advance !
1 if you not rooted you can't backup, if rooted use rommanager
2 charging is fine
3 ruu and ota are official
can i know what 'data' are erased? what about phone contacts, pictures, apps, notes?

Get the following tool "Sprite Backup" use it and backup all your data (Contacts,Call logs, MMS, SMS.. etc.....)
Use the same tool to restore after the update. if you need this tool I can provide u ....

I am super n00b in this, I am bought the Wildfire today, the guys in the store suggested to update the phone to froyo but its a bit expensive(65 bucks).
Can I update my device using this RUU? the phone is fresh new I haven't installed anything on it yet.
IF you are in the Europe region just connect to Wifi, Go to settings > about > System updates > Check now.
This only works if your phone isn't branded to a network like Vodafone.

Some supplemental information, I read about people having issues with super one click with the official 2.2 release. I followed the guide shown here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400 and did not have a single issue. Looking back, at that time i wasnt that comfortable with using odin. Now that i am, I would have just gone back to stock, ran the update.zip, cwm, backup and then flash. I guess if you just want a stock rooted froyo follow the links listed in the posts above and dont worry about odin right now.

If you are running stock froyo from mini kies SuperOneClick 1.6.5 will do it for you.
z4root doesn't work on stock froyo.
I upgraded from eclair to froyo via mini kies and rooted my phone with SuperOneClick 1.6.5. Get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8532790&postcount=1
Make sure you have the USB drivers installed (If you upgraded your phone via mini kies then you already have the drivers). Enable USB debugging on your phone.
Connect phone to PC and run SuperOneClick. I left all the default options on (psneuter not rageagainstthecage) about 60 seconds later my phone was rooted!
Check app drawer to make sure you have SuperUser icon.

If not reboot (I didn't have to reboot). However when I installed Titanium Backup it did give me an error - I clicked the problem button which downloaded a more recent version of busybox and everything was fine.
I was a little leary at first about rooting because I didn't want apps doing things to my phone that could cause problems. No worries though since any app that wants root access must be permitted by the Superuser app - you can allow or deny root access to any app that requires it or even remove permissions to an app that you had initially allowed.
Good luck but you shouldn't need it, it's MUCH EASIER than flashing your phone.
I have a Vibrant running stock 2.2 (updated by Mini Kies from stock 2.1).
I've tried the superoneclick and it always gets a no space error, which is not due to nospace. I see a few others with Vibrants on oneclick thread with the same problem.
Here are the details of my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11510304&postcount=2652
Any suggestions?
I just noticed that your phone was rooted when you were running 2.1.
My phone was not rooted on 2.1, I didn't root until after the froyo upgrade from mini kies and SuperOneClick 1.6.5 ran without errors.
I don't know if this may be an issue. I know some people have had problems when upgrading roms because of voodoo lagfix. If you used oneclicklagfix to root your phone maybe that's causing some kind of filesystem problem.
I'm just guessing at this point, maybe someone more experienced can add to this..I just did a search and couldn't find anything revelant.

thanks mate... I really wanted a generic unbranded rom so I dont get into trouble..
If I can get an untouched generic rom, it would be great..
if not, can you recommend a good custom rom mate?
I'm still using the stock rom which came with mine here in Japan.
Funnily enough I posted this post today about Roms here.
I'm not wanting to take a chance with radios here just yet. Hoping to find an English speaker who has successfully done it without issues. Flashed loads of times here in Japan with Windows Mobile, but the first time cost me a 1000 dollars in data charges because I entered the wrong access point info. Can't afford that kind of mistake at the moment.
Did a factory reset not help you?
That's a shame... that's why I don't want to use a custom one.. $1000 is still too much...
Factory reset doesn't help

You have to use my downgrade guide, it is a sticky in the DHD android dev subforum. You can replace the PD98IMG.zip with the ROM of your choice. Here is how to get any PD98IMG.zip:
Download any RUU
Run the RUU.exe, do not proceed
Search for rom.zip in your PC's temp folder (open Run prompt, type %TEMP%)
Copy that rom.zip into your desktop and rename it to PD98IMG.zip
Close the RUU
Follow the downgrade guide
appreciate your help mate..
I have ran the ruu but not proceeded it but I can find the PD.zip file in the temp folder..
any suggestions..
Read the instructions again mate, it is "rom.zip"

Sry I did not notice this.. So, did you rename it exactly to "PD98IMG.zip"? If it does not recognize correctly named file, format your SD card to FAT32 with full format, no quick format. Your SD might also be a bit faulty, so it may help to try another SD.
thanks for you response mate..
I guess Im getting confused at the "attached file" bit..
where is the attached file? (red text below)
How to downgrade:
•IF you have a branded device, you have to make a Goldcard. Use "mmc2" instead of "mmc1"!!
•Download the attached file and extract it•Get stock 1.32 PD98IMG.zip ROM, mirror
•Connect Desire HD to a computer. Charge only, USB Debugging enabled!
•Open up a cmd and go to Downgrade folder, execute:

Interesting. I'll install it when I get my phone today and see if it breaks root.
Just checked the update on phone it just give a application update for Twitter nothing else at the moment... Checked my wife's non rooted shift and has the same Twitter update nothing else that there Twitter account says...
It's just another basic HTC security update just like the last one...But I did hear HTC patched misc.img partition on the G2 so be carefull about what security patches you update to because it could break root if you have s-on and stock HTC recovery.
Has anyone actually been able to initiate this update yet? I want to pull the .zip from the SD card without installing it to see what's inside and whether or not it can be made into a patch for a rooted 2.3.3 without too much trouble (since I'm an idiot and I want to run the phone stock, save for root).

Roger that.
Anyway, this seems to be a false promise from Sprint for me since I keep trying to update over 3G and WiFi and I'm not getting anything. My Shift is still on 2.76.651.6 with the Twitter update that came out a few weeks ago, but no update to this new 2.77.651.3 version for me as of yet.
