Hey guys, I see some of you are bricking or not being able to update.
You can use this to flash to I897UCJH7 OTA.
Use Clockwork recovery to flash it...
Cognition is currently being rebuilt on top of this, deodexed and all that fun stuff.
This flashes the system folder, kernel, and modem.

Let me know how the GPS works for you guys!! I have gotten it to lock in my basement!!
Could you tell us what differences are in this and the JH7 we've had for a while? I assume the GPS is supposed to work better but anything aside from that?

Thanks DG! I've been looking for this.
Thanks so much for this!
Quick question though... if my phone already says it is at JH7 even after a 100% OTA update and had the Update Failed message, could I still flash this with Clockwork and have it function properly?

Tested and it works! thanks!
If I do encounter problem, I'll let you know.
Should I wipe data and clear cache prior to doing this? What are the implications of wiping my previous rom.
I am getting installation aborted from Recovery Mode. Any suggesstions?

Mmm I'm not sure but... mine was stock ( did odin ) before I flashed this.
if a battery pull doesnt get it to work, then I would reflash JF6 with Odin, flash this JH7 OTA with Rom manager.
Im about to try to disable lag fix first, then flash and if it bricks it then ill flash to stock JF6 first.
Thank you DG. I needed the update because for some reason the one click installer thing wouldn't allow OTA updates. But your one click installer is still a huge help when needed.
First, breath, you are not bricked yet. Search in here for odin one click. Follow the instructions. You will most likely need to do method 3 for your download mode. (remove battery, sim, sdcard /replace battery /hil vol+ and vol- while simultaniouslyplugging in the usb cable) Once you get flashed back to stock you can try again.
Sigh after so many tries to update I went back to cognition with leaked jh7. Guess I'll be flashing again once I get off work tomorrow.

Hi all,
Issue with TWRP and restore. I've got a backup, but when I tried to restore it, it would crash and reboot while restoring the /data partition. I try wiping the /data partition (I have my backup on a server, too) and it crashes midway through that, too. Just reboots and returns to TWRP.
What should I do?
Thanks,
Ben

Tried that, no luck
I'm currently restoring the factory 4.2.2, then installing TWRP and adb'ing the files back over to try restoring again. Hopefully this works.
Thanks,
Ben

This issue is mentioned over in the official TWRP forum under "Original Android Development" The Dev acknowledged it, saying he needs to fiddle with it... Might not be bad if you poked your head in there with any other information you could add...
*fingers crossed* Hope they get it patched up soon... I'm a little restore shy now. Up until I encountered this, I was swapping ROMs on a nearly daily basis... No anymore.
I started over again, like you, and it works ok now. But I don't know when/if the problem will rear its ugly head again, so holding off until I hear more.

I'm having the same problem with 2.5.5.0. Happens probably 30% of the time and always during the data restore. It completes on the second go-round, but I'm constantly holding my breath. I was under the impression that this was taken care of in this latest version.

mine crashes when I do simple wipes
on latest
happens about 30% of the time too
I had that happen a lot, I just 2.3.3.0 now and it is perfect.

Rom Toolbox app will let you install it too.

Ain't it the truth.
So I just tried doing the same with my phone and the installation failed, something about illegal instruction. I'm running CM 10.1 on an unlocked, S-OFF HTC Vivid.
Any ideas?

No, I tried with RomToolbox, same method as with the N10. I choose 2.3.3 0 from the list, so I assume it was the Holiday version. The first time I tried, it claimed I didn't have permission, but I think that was because it was the first time I was using Rom toolbox since flashing CM so the permission popup came after the fact. I rebooted and that was when the message changed to invalid instruction.
Edit: Tried again with 2.4.1.0. Same result. But I located the files and they are holiday, so I can just flash with fastboot, I guess.

The latest I used that worked well was the one Reverepats repacked "Reverpats-TWRP-Sprint-2.6.3.1.zip".
However the one I KNOW works without issues (for me) - installing, wiping, creating AND restoring backups, accessing USB storage etc. is "TWRP-Recovery-jfltespr-2.5.0.2.zip"
There are some AOSP ROMs that recommend using CWM and not TWRP - so keep that in mind. Always try and follow the OP's suggestions.
+1. 2.5.0.2 is a solid one. I used several of the newer ones, and they worked, but not without quirks. Went back to 2.5.0.2 and all is good.
Welcome back!
2.5.0.2 for me. I can't flash aosp RMs with it (not sure if it a twrp/cwm thing or not) but absolutely no issues at all. Backups, sdcard, touchscreen all work great. I'm leaving well-enough alone!

definitely recommend twrp 2.5.0.2, was the only recovery I used til I switched to CWM.
thanks fellaz!! 2.5.0.2 it is!!

Technically not 'repacked' I guess but Reverepats was cool enough to make the zip for some and shared it for all.
I tried every version and always went back to 2.5.0.2.

I have been using the new version 2.6.3.1 and love it.
Has anyone been able to successfully flash OctOS with CWM? I know in the thread they say they only support TWRP but I would really prefer not to switch to that recovery if possible. I've tried 4 seperate times now and every time it doesn't even make it to the boot animation, it just hangs at the galaxy s4 screen and I eventually have to reboot and restore. And yes, I give it enough time, I let it sit on that screen for about 20 mins before I reboot and try again.

I have flashed OctOS numerous times with CWM. what version of OctOS? I am using 10/22 currently because of issues with the 10/31. Did you check the MD5 hash? Might be a bad download. I hope you can get it running. You will not be disappointed, it really is the best AOSP going right now. Good luck!
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Interesting, I was trying the 10/31 build, I'll go dl the 10/22 build now and give it a shot. And yes, I checked the md5's and they were correct, that was one of the first things I did. Thanks for the suggestion, I hope it works, really wanna check out this ROM.
edit: Also, what cwm are you using? Touch or regular?
I was using regular 6.0.3.0 I think. I am trying TWRP right now since I took the plunge to MJA. I am thinking about going back to CWM probably the touch version. It really turned me off to TWRP when the first backup I made with it failed to restore. I have never had backup/restore issues with CWM.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Yea that's why I don't really wanna use TWRP if I don't have too, I've heard of people having issues with it and I've never had problems with CWM, been using it for a long time now. I'm also thinking about upgrading to CWM Touch, but for now, the dl just finished so I'm gonna try flashing the 10/22 version. Here goes nothing!

I rooted my phone using CWM and flashed TriForceROM a few months ago, and everything was wonderful till about a month or so afterward, and now at random when it's idle it'll crash? I'll go to unlock it, the Menu and Back buttons on the bottom will flash, and then I'll have to wait a few minutes and press the power button (sometimes a couple times) and after vibrating once or twice it'll boot up to the Samsung splash screen.
I managed to do some research and found it might be just because it's rooted, but since the problem didn't start until a good bit after the root I was thinking maybe (hopefully) it's something else? Any ideas on how to fix it?
Any help appreciated ^_^
I will assume you are running KT's kernel because that is a known problem for some people on his kernel.
Reflash Tri force and choose change mods. Choose stock and all will be well.

I might have, I don't think I went in and changed much. I'll do that. Thanks!!
Just checked (remembered you can look at the kernel through settings. D'oh), and it is indeed KT's kernel. Yay for being able to fix it and still have the ROM!
