Hey guys...
I bought a usb to wall charger adapter, so I could get a fast battery charge and usb connection with just one cable.
But when I connect the adapter to the energy, my phone's touchscreen freezes... I can lock/unlock, and what is happening on the screen (e.g. a movie) continues normal... But I can't interact touching in it. It's like the touchscreen feature is disabled, and becomes just a non-touchscreen display.
Anybody has tried it before? Sucess? Same problem? Wonder why it happens?
Thanks in advance!
It happens the same with me. I bought a cheap one on Ebay.

you should try charging using wall outlet as to it has much more power in it fraction of of what usb charging can give
hope this helps kabayan
no mini-s
i dont have mini-s wall charger.. does xda mini and mini-s has the same outpu and input voltge?
yes this has happened to me b4. Just find a usb wall charger capable of delivering about 1amp and leave it plugged overnight. The charge light on ur wizard will come on eventually...that is of couse you don't have a defective battery....

why don't you have one? im not familiar with mini's charger but i also use my xphone 2 wall charger to charge my wizard and it seems compatible
Flat Battery
What should you do?
firstly - try searching , there are a good number of posts about this known issue.
The issue seems to be that the charging circuit is software drivec, so if the battery is completely flat it can't run the software to get the charging going... sounds wierd - i know.
So.. what to do...
Force come charge into it.... how...
Ger a USB cable and cut the mini usb end off to expose the wires.
Should be 4 - i think.
Of those one is for Ground and one for Positive.
Physically connect the Ground to the -ve termianl and the Positive to the +ve terminal on the battery - whilst it is plugged in to your PC. (You may need a voltmeter to work out which cable is which)
After 5-10 mins or so there should be enough charge in the battery to be able to put it back in the phone and get the phone charging it.
NOTE: This is not the manufacturers way of charging - do it at your own risk.
I have done it with no problems...

Couldn't you just cut the 5V line in your sync cable?
vikasmal, It's ok to charge it. Lithium batteries, unlike ancient nickel ones, actually LIKE to be charged. It doesn't decrease battery life or anything.
Thanks Raymondu, appreciate it. My main problem was when I read that these batteries have a life of about 500 charges and also the original battery lasted me only 7 months (I would connect it at work to my computer and it would charge through the USB port); so figured that maybe I shouldn't be charging it with the USB port and only charge the new 3400 mah battery once in two days time.
Thanks.
Cheers.

If you really don't want to charge over USB, then buy yourself a Sony PSP data cable.
These cables work by splitting the power and data from the USB socket into two discrete cables, one of which has the normal mini USB end (for data), and other which has the standard Sony jack plug (for charging).
I've just tested it out with mine, and it will do exactly what you want.
Hope this helps,
Bagpuss.
Thanks a ton Bagpuss, that is exactly what I want to do and will buy this cable; but was really hoping for a s/w solution but guess that is not to be. Thanks a lot, this will really help.
Cheers, Vikas.

My eee pad is not charging.
Its plugged in and everything was working - until this evening when I went to use it.
It had trouble turning back on so I pressed the on button a few times until it turned on. Then when I hooked up the charger I can not get any juice flowing.
Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to call asus until I totally have to.
Thanks!

I checked - the USB 3.0 wire still works. I can connect to my laptop. But my laptop does not have the juice to charge the pad.
Looking for ideas. Anyone know of a 3.0 charger?
So the wall charger doesn't work?

I really wouldn't know, there are a large number of causes. Do you have any wall chargers with USB ports on them for other devices (I have one from my phone) and does that work?

Yeah, it was mentioned in one of the reviews that charging via USB tether doesn't yet work and is planned for a future update. No help to you really, but it's a known problem...

I tried all the extra chargers I have. Nothing.
But I did get the screen to turn on when I used my OG droid charger.
I have seen somewhere that is is possible to plug the usb connector into the wall wart backwards ( usually will only go in one way). Check to see that you have the plug in the correct way.
I got same problem tonight. any solution?
try separating the two piece of the wall chargers and put them back together. It happened to me once and that's how I fixed it.

Physically impossible without damaging the wall wart. The USB jack is standard, and was specifically designed to prevent being plugged in backwards.

Is it just me, or are they exceptionally hard to take apart and put back together? I was actually scared I was going to break it, joining them, it took so much force. I've not yet dared take them back apart...

What did you do? If it's off and then turned on, it wouldn't be in sleep anymore so it should work.
What if I did a factory reset? Would that fix it? What happens? Does it revert to original firmware it shipped with even though I did the manual update? F
Well, I couldn't get it to work so I just did a factory reset. It works fine now. Just so everyone knows... the pad kept my new firmware update so I at least didn't have to do that again.
I started having this problem last night. I have the dock also and when I plug it in the red light does not come on. It will not charge the dock or TF. The USB cable works as I connected it to my PC. I tried plugging it in to different wall sockets. I tried using my Droid X charger. I even took the wall charger connector apart and put it back together. Any ideas?
I got the device today, but it does not charge. What should I do?
Hi I've got a problem with my phone. If I connect it to the PC using orginal USB cable it charging, transfering data and so. But if I connect the phone to the wall charger it don't charge only screen wake up but no charging on battery icon. The wall charger is orginal too. I've tried changing ROMs.
This problem is really anoying so if You can, please help me.
You write you use the original charger, but do you also use the original USB cable? It matters, cheap USB cables do not work on the Defy :-(
seems some problem in wall socket adaptor

Got to check that out, cause I've been wondering why I can charge my Defy+ in some wall chargers, some computers, and so far no car chargers. Would be great if the cables are the cause. Thanks
I use the orginal usb cable too

There's nothing wrong with your phone, ROM, or USB cable, but your wall charger is broken.
Just get your charger replaced. That's what warranties are for.
The Defy doesn't really care about USB cables. If it's switched off it will charge anyway, so the ROM doesn't matter either. But it's very picky about the current and voltage stability of the charger. That's why many 3rd party chargers don't work no matter what cable you plug into it.
I was in non-official phones service and they check charging on another adaptors but i think they were not original. Anyway as i remember when lastly phone was charging it was a storm and on the next day it wasn't working but i'm not sure.
I know this thread is old but i didn't find solution to this problem, soooo:

What's debugging got to do with wall charger??
Doesn't matter from where I send it, what matters is written above
So why when I turn it on i have problems with charging?
Bug?
if u use External charger u must charge ur phone with mcgyver for 10 min.
after that use the External charger.
becaz ur battery so low.
Charging Issue
I got the same problem from the day i bought the mobile... The service center people told its charger issue and need to replace the charger. So Changed the wall charger under warranty. It took around 2 months to get my charger back. But the things are same. It sometime charge. Sometimes the screen will on and didnt charge. I tried changing different Versions. Same thing. Even the service center people have no idea about it....
Could you check if the micro-usb connector of the phone or that of the cable is clean, dirt and dust reduces or prevents transfer rate of electricity.
First of all I'm very sorry for posting on a developer Forum, I had lurked here for about a month looking for an answer and I can't find it. I wouldn't had made an account otherwise.
Here's my problem, my phone randomly stops charging (not notice neither) since the Oreo Update. I believe is because of the update because I return my old phone and bought a second phone and decided to leave it on Nougat, I decided to update it to Oreo because I missed notification badges and the day after I already had the same problem.
Things of Notice:
*Both phones where new and on the latest security patch.
*My phone does charge overnight when in wall socket but will stop charging when I used the USB on my car (my car has a USB adapter but if I charge it there, it will keep READING USB and repeating the cycle)
*Phone also stops charging when I use an extended battery. (I'm an avid Pokemon Go Player)
*Restating the phone a couple of times, fixes the issue.
Is there anything that I can do? everything else about the phone works perfectly (Facebook takes a long time to load but that's it). If there's an answer already please forward me to that post. Thanks again
Could it be because the update enabled quick charge, so now the phone requires a bigger energy output from the USB?
Does changing the cable help? If not, try doing a factory reset.

Since this is my first phone with USB type C I only have the one cable. I had notice the battery backup is charging so it seems like a problem with the car charger but I need to test it first. What charging output do I need to charge a modern phone like this?

I'm sorry I answer this late, I was unable to log into the site from my phone. (forgot the pasword). I did some testing in the weekend and it did charge on my laptop, it charge extremely slow., Just 3% in like an hour. (with constant use).
I kept using it with my power bank it kept charging reliably as well as in my house. But it keeps having the some problem at the car, So here's what I'm wondering. If I use one of those 3.0 USB car chargers will it charge my phone? without a problem to my car? I don't know if this phone supports fast charging (the specs says yes but I never seen the fast charging message with the regular charging)

No worries. Yes, laptop charging is slow.
I'm not sure if the stock ROM supports fast charging but custom ones do, and it can't harm your device. I don't see why it would harm your car if it was made for it. Maybe your car's USB port broke.

I have had the same reaction on one of my phones after updating to oreo.
Changing the charger from a 1A model to a 2,4A model solved the issue.
