HI,i just unlock bootloader, flash recovery and there is no option to instal from external sd..i have inserted 2gb sd card in phone and i want to flash 2.3.4 GB ,can i put the 2.3.4 imadge to internal sd and flash it vith recovery?
You must have installed kholk's CWM recovery. It doesn't have external SD option. The text is orange.
The 'recommended' recovery is tenfar's, you can find it easily in dev forum. The text is blue. Flash it using moto-fastboot
I had same issue, I used the auto-unlock/root/CWM script without realising it installed kholk not tenfar.
Having said that, I have flashed redpill on mine via kholk's recovery, all I did was put the zip in the internal storage not external sd and it didn't seem to mind. But yes a lot of ROMs tell you specifically to use tenfar and do it from external.

I flashed android succesfully on an HD2 and now I can't get my SD card formated. I managed to make it work on my pc but doesn't work for any phone. Is it broken? should I go buy a new one instead? Also, I Don't know how to put CWM recovery. Do I need to download the app and flash the recovery or can that break the ROM and brick the phone?
Panasonic SD Card Formatter 3
Use that, wipe the card out with a full format. Then do a FULL format in FAT32 in Windows, then plug the card in and mount it.
Installing CWM will require you to repartition the NAND if you did not already do so. Which will wipe the present ROM off. Try Titanium Backup. I have never tried it, so I can't help you with that.
Thanks, I want to flash a different android ROM like CM7 and I need to flash with zip so I need CWM Recovery. For now I'll see if the sd card fixes. I'm at school so later today I shall try it.

You have to partition your SD card (gparted/ubuntu...)
1st: fat32 put the rom-zip into the root of this partition
2nd: ext4 1GB
3rd: ext4 400MB
4th: linux swap
Install CWR via MAGLDR like flashing a NAND rom (DAF etc...)
reboot, enter MAGLDR and goto boot AD SD - now U enter CWR
and then follow the steps as mentioned in the rom thread. (chose ZIP dfrom SD card... install... reboot...)
Good luck
It´s quite easy.
The above post will work UNLESS you use one of the cwm 1.3 partitions. Using cwm 1.3 puts the recovery files on NAND (so no need to copy files to the root of your sd card for recovery to work. In order to boot into Recovery you need to select AD Recovery instead of Boot AD SD

hello,
i've finally managed to flash newest recovery and get my cm7 installed
now i am tryin to update my radio to newest version but ofcourse i am havin problem with that.. i am runnin cm7 with nightly 40, cmw 3.0.0.6, i downloaded newest radio but in cwm it says i cannot be installed cuz there is no more someking of scrippter in cwm 3.0.0.x oO, next i've tried via rommenager but it goes to recovery and i get the same error all the time ;f
what can i do with it? is there a way to flash radio with cwm 3.0.0.6? if no, how can i safely downgrade cwm to version that will be able of flashin radio?
cheers
whats the exact version radio that your trying to install?
cause i think the latest radio that i've installed is:

yes that is the latest radio version. it came with froyo.
and how do u think u will update the radio alone. is it with PC49IMG.ZIP process.
i dont know whether updating radio alone (excluding boot.img + recovery.img) gives any issue to ur phone. can someone clarify that
Try using cwm fakeflash by "instalupdate.zip" this will revert back to old cwm on a temporary basis so you can flash roms and radio that are not written in new script language. Be careful flashing new radio as can damage your phone if you get it wrong

Eddster3000, i've tried to downgrade the cmw via RomMenager, it looks like i am getting temporarly the older cwm, but there is one major problem.. it doesnt see files on my sd card, only in cwm 3.0.0.6 it is working fine but cant flash radio but in 2.5.0.7 works only temporarly cwm but without seein the files on my sdcard ;f
is there a way to use adb to flash the radio? if yes then how to do it? i think this would be the simpliest way
If you used AlphaRev, it would give you fastboot support (I think) so it would probably let you flash radio through USB connection.
What is your SD capacity? If you can, try on another one that is 2GB or less.
my sd card is 2gb, what do you mean by alpharev?
i am on w7 x64 i flash cmw via adb so i thought flashing radio wont be a problem will it?
mlotson Have look at post 5 on this page =http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
mlotson - go to alpharev.nl for info. For now, only read the info, don't download anything. It's not released for Wildfire yet, but it's not that far away.
first of all i have s-off because i've used xtc clip. second of all that guide is reffering to clockwork mod 2.5.0.7 probably because the 3.0.0.6 doesnt support some scriptting which is why i cant flash my radio, however i need to downgrade my cwm do 2.xx to be able to flash radio and flash ruu.zip file. just tell me how to permanently downgrade cwm to 2.xx and i'll be fine.. i promise ;p
now it seems like normally i have cwm 3.0.0.6 but when i run rommenager it says it's 2.xxx the problem is that there is some sort of incompatibility between these two, one sees the files on my sdcard and the older one doesnt.
what cwm are u using right now? and where can i download it?
@ up date, the whole situation is probably because od 3.0.0.6 cwm, it did something to my sd card so cwm 2.x.x.x.x doesnt read it properly.. question is how can i fix it? now i have cwm 2.5.0.7 and it shows only clockworkmod/ folder on my sd while i have many many other files.. but when i change it to cwm 3.0.0.6 it reads all the files and every thing is all right but i cant install old roms because of scripting method which is not supported by cwm 3 < i guess removing the whole recovery wont do the problem because that is not the first time i flashed recovery and under 3.0 i cant read my sd in recovery.. please help!it pain in the as$.. -,O
I'm not sure how to permanently downgrade CWM but I'll see what I can found out. I think CWM will always show 2.xxx in Rom-Manager which is the fakeflash version, even if you have upgraded CWM to 3.xxx
I'm on new CWM 3 and it's same as you describe in RM but only differance is that I can temp' downgrade CWM and flash all old scripts.
Do you think it's to do with XTC clip process? I'm not a programmer so I'm afraid I can only help with suggestions

now i am sure that it has something to do with ext, ive partitioned the sd card in cwm 3.0.0.6 to do so i had to formatted sd, then i flashed cwm 2.5.0.7 and went into cwm, now it doesnt show anything on my sd card it keeps sayin "no files found." ... ;F how to fix it .. ;o it's annoying

Surely if u have formatted the sd card them no matter which cwm you use will not find any files? Or did you format then copy the radio image to the root of the sd card? Have you tried a standard format of sd card using pc or laptop with a card reader? then copy files to sd card via pc before putting back into the phone.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
i have formatted with pc, the sdcard was in the phone (i dont have card reader), it didnt fix it. so i formatted it again in cwm but again it didnt help, next i partitioned sd in rom menager but it also didnt work. now i am on cmw 3.0.0.6 because thats the only one which reads properly files from my sdcard.. i think ill try different sdcard but i dont have one for now ;p i guess til then i wont know for sure what's the reason
The solution is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067031

In fact you have to reinstall CWM 3.0.0.6 this will fix your radio or/and gps problems as it did on me
I did a search for 'boot recovery' and read a few thread going back to May, but none of them seem to quite fit what happened to me. If I have missed the instructions, please link to them and I'll check it out.
First the setup:
My NC is stock 1.2 on the EMMC. I then followed the instructions in the Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards. The only step I cheated on was copying both update-cm-7.0.3-encore-signed.zip and gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip to the SD card after the card was imaged. The rom and gapps installed and work as intended.
Next it was my intent to install update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-063011.zip for a little speed boost. But I couldn't get it to boot into recovery with the various hold this button timings and choosing reboot from the power button options. I then went into ROM Manager and Flash ClockworkMod recovery, which flashed 3.2.01 to the EMMC. I have confirmed that by removing my CM7 SD card and successfully booting to recovery.
So now what? I would have thought the Rom Manager should have flashed the CWM recovery to the SD card, as that is what I had booted from. How can I uninstall the CWM from EMMC and force it to installed to the SD card?
Thanks,
Zhin
Did you just say up there "which flashed 3.2.01 to the EMMC"? why did you expect it "should have flashed the CWM recovery to the SD card"?
Anyway, if you want to run from uSD, then anything related to eMMC or files that have "emmc" on file name, then ignore, discard it.
In your case, after you booted into recovery (using power button, and its options), you should be all set.
I don't now what makes you went into ROM Manager and flashed it

Because I thought that when you flashed a rom to the SD card and booted off the SD card it was treated the SD card as the 'local disk'. With the EMMC just being seen as additional storage when you where running off the SD. So when I booted from the SD card and opened Rom Manager while running from the SD card, I should think it would have flashed the CWM to the SD card.

The only way I can get to recovery is to remove the SD. How can I make sure to install update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-063011.zip to the SD card? Can the SD card be put back in after booting to recovery?

When it wouldn't boot into recovery after the clean install from my OP, I started to look for other options. When I launched Rom Manager it said there was no recovery option installed.

Rom Manager is useless for SD installs; just don't run it. It's not like most Android apps that only look at filesystem names (/sdcard, /emmc, etc), it uses the hardware device names (/dev/block/...) for its manipulations and pretty much assumes an emmc install.
Having CWM on emmc isn't a problem, it won't interfere with running the stock NC software from an emmc boot. I haven't run stock in forever, I don't know what they had for a recovery boot, but there are "restore to stock" threads that will show you how to find the parts if you want to put it back.
What were you intending to do by installing CWM? The recovery that comes with the SD install is what flashes new builds for you, so you don't want to mess with it. You can install CWM on the SD as an alternate boot instead of a recovery (uAltImg and uAltRam instead of uRecImg and uRecRam) and use the u-boot that comes with recent CM7 builds to boot it if you want to play with it.

I can restore to stock easily enough. I have an image of the stock install for easy recover for just these circumstances.

The install instructions for the dalingrin kernels said they were CWM flashable. I wasn't going to get too fancy, but maybe I should look at some of the alternate boot options.
Thanks!

I accidentally did the same exact thing before I realized VG included his own recovery on the SD. From what I've read, to uninstall CMW from the emmc, you need to create a separate CMW SD and do a full restore to stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931720
As for putting CMW on the SD, IDK. VeryGreen's method of just appending "update-" to rom file names and placing them on the root of the SD has worked for me.
I didn't say anything about using files that said emmc in the OP.

Because you were confusing as indicated in your thread, I was just suggesting eliminating anything about "emmc" if you intended to run off uSD. I did not say you did it, I just recommend it. For instance, Dalingrin OC kernel, there are several versions out there and anything with "emmc", then you should ignore them. That's all

Dear all,
I need your help on solving a problem I am having on my GT-i9505.
Yesterday I have tried to root the device with CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505, and it worked fine until I noticed that it was somehow very slow on phone start.
This slowdown problem was not caused by the root process because I have noticed it even before the root process.
In order to try to solve it, I have installed the CWF i9505-cwm-recovery-6.0.3.2-4, and made a backup of the system before make a full system restore (wipe data/factory reset) via CWF.
After that, the system did not started and stays on a boot loop.
Accessed the CWF again and restored the backup, but the problem remains.
After all this process, I get totally lost and tried several solutions and none of them worked.
At this moment I can only access "download mode" and CWM based recovery.
Since I am already lost, and really do not know where to go next, I ask you help on how can I solve this problem and have the phone working again.
The only data I have about the phone:
MODEL: GT-I9505
I9505XXUEMJ5 / I9505ZWAXST
I know this is an international model.
I think on downloading the stock firmware from samsung (4.2.2 or 4.3) no not know which one is advisable, but before that I really need to know if there any additional solution because I don´t even know if this will solve the problem.
Another problem is the hotfile hosting, since I connection is very unstable and will take some time to download the file.
Anyone can help me please?
Thank you in advance
Best regards
Paulo Matos
Since you already have CWM installed you may aswell download a new rom and copy it an SD card. install from recovery.

Thank you simondo12.
Do you mean, download a stock firmware from samsung for this especific model and install it from sd card?
If not, what file do you advise for my model?
Since I am unable to access the phone via android, I have tried to access the sd card from CWF. What I noticed:
- I can access the external sd card from the pc, but I cannot access the internal sd card from the pc.
- I cannot access the external sd card directly from CWF (perhaps because of it's size since it´s a 64GB), but I have access to internal sd card
Even if I copy the file to the external sd card, I will be unable to install it from CWF because I have no access to the external sd card (error on mounting external sd card). Is it the size of it?
I am trying to download the new firmware (4.3) from samsung for my model and will try to install via odin. Will I require to install the attachment that says "kernel file"? This process will take lots of time because I have an unstable internet connection for downloading via hotfile and uploaded file servers.
The problem is that I do not know if it will work because the phone is rooted and have cwf installed.
Thank you very much
Paulo
since its a 64GB have formatted it in exfat? if so then CWM may not recognize it. I would try installing Philz recovery if you are using standard CWM see if it will recognise the card. Do you have another SD card you could try?
There's not really much point in flashing a new firmware in odin if you have cwm installed. Just copy custom rom over to an SD card.

Hi symondo12,
Thank you once again.
I have alredy found the Philz thread and found a gt-i9505 version and instructions to install both from sd and from odin.
I will try and see what happens.
Regardless the custom rom, since my galaxy s4 was on 4.3, will I be abble to downgrade? Ask you that because I do not know if there is a custom rom for gt-i9505 on android 4.3.
If not, just need to copy the stock rom to sdcard and install it the same way as a custom rom?
Thank you very much for your time

Paulo

I have changed the sd card to a 2GB sd card and CWF now recognizes it.
I will see if I can download the stock firmware from samsung and see if I can install it and solve my problem.
Additionally I found a "Pure-Google-pre-rooted-4.3-v2.3"... hope it works.
