I brought my Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 (White Edition).
Turn out very disappointed with yellowish color on the screen.
Brand new, purchased at July 25, 2011.

yeah! those pics are shows it very clear.
sorry man, it's a shame, but look the bright side, you can always use a kernel that supports Voodoo color. and btw, improve your sound.
look around!! this is XDA, here you can fix almost everything!!

Look for it in kernel descriptions.

Return it to the shop, don't try to fix it with sw, the screen is defective..

I saw this thread and noticed it said it has the color fix, but I don't want to download it because it doesn't have the lagfix in it. But I don't see anything about the color fix in any other thread??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814286
The color fix is new, not in the old voodoo kernels. The new one is sweet, just as fast as voodoo although the benchmark will tell you otherwise. Voodoo will be added to the new kernel eventually, so you cant wait it out and be just fine or flash away, follow the fncking instructions though.
MOD EDIT: Edited the post so it won't contain any words that may be construed as offensive.
Not at all trying to be a downer because voodoo color looks pretty awesome, but what do you mean by "just as fast as voodoo". Are you saying that the kernel is OC'ed to be similar in performance to the stock volt/clock speed voodoo kernel, or that it handles I/O differently like a voodoo ext4 fix...
I guess what i'm saying is that your post is a bit vague and i was wondering if you could clarify.. Thanks
I'm still trying to figure out whats wrong with the colors on the fascinate? I don't see the fix that the other phones might have required.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. LOL.
SAMOLED Displays by manufacture display colors with a blueish tint. You can even see this tint in the reflection of the display when the screen is off. The Voodoo color fix attempts to remedy this. At this point it will only fix the color when the backlight is set to 100%.
Any news about Colour fix? When will it be released? This full brightess setting is pretty much useless, because - well, it´s just too bright...
Would it be possible to give us an interface to control these settings ourselves?
This is the most waited fix for me and I believe I´m not the onlyone.
After updating to 2.3.4, I notice that (to my eyes anyway) the colors seem to have been adjusted again. As we all know, Google messed with the color temperature in 2.3.3 to the chagrin of many. Complaints of yellow screens abounded. Mine had a slightly yellow tint to it as well, however it seems gone with 2.3.4.
I have always felt the best, most accurate colors available on the Nexus S were achieved with Voodoo. It appears that 2.3.4 matches it.
Are my eyes deceiving me, or are the colors really better? Anyone agree?
removed i was wrong
Something definitely seems different. Maybe a little brighter.
removed i was wrong
i couldn't tell any difference from 2.3.3. they look more natural, perhaps with a very (and i do mean very) slight blue tint. the whites are in-your-face as before, but i found it really difficult to read the browser before, now, it's not so bad.
The colours have changed, are better and look more vibrant. I'm happy again.
I have 2.3.4 and my yellowish tint is still here. Not a major concern to me but just figured I would share.
Yellow tint is still there. No difference in colour temperature.

Colors did not change.
However, I think the colors on 2.3.3 were fantastic, so.... you might not value my opinion much anyway

Display issues still not solved
I wonder when they will fix this issue.
I want the yellow tint to be removed. From what I read voodoo kernel fixes the issue. So I have 3 questions. Can somebody answer them?
1. Is it possible to root without wiping data?
2. Can I flash voodoo kernel on 2.3.4?
3. To test voodoo kernel do I need to root the phone?

I agree with this too. They're more natural this way. Yea, even though they've lost their saturation, but that's the whole point.
Until someone shows me a side by side comparison I am standing by my statement "the screen colour definitely changed" other than that, I don't know because I cannot really tell that well, I cannot say for the better or for the worst, please does anyone have two Nexus S devices to compare?

It's not true. You do not need to compare devices side by side. You only need to look at the source code which DID change between 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 but DID NOT CHANGE between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4.

People the colors are the EXACT SAME from 2.3.3, I don't know what some of you guys have been smoking LOL
If you guys really want to see AMAZING colors then do the following.

Then download Voodoo Control from the Market.

There's a thread on this in the Nexus S forum, but I figured we could start one here for the locals.
Thanks to Tk-Glitch and times_infinity, we now have the beauty that is Voodoo Color available for CM7. Please share and discuss your voodoo color settings. Of course, everyone's experience will vary. This is just what works for your phone.

It would be awesome if somebody that has a display calabrating device stick it on the phone and give use some "professional" numbers to start off at. This is done often in the HDTV world.

Yeah its a good start, they are similar to what I ended up with after an hour of messing around with the phone. The thing that sticks out to me is the screen clarity definitely suffered. If you get a picture that has tiny details like a black leather wallpaper that shows grain, there is a noticeable difference from stock to the above posted settings in shadow detail and image clarity. I'll keep messing around with it more and post later on.

Nope. This setting will be safe.
Also,
And just as an update, glitch's new kernel fixes this issue (beta tested atm); so you will be able to use any setting you want without the screen freaking out once he releases it.
Anyone have any better settings for our device? The nexus s ones look pretty good. Anyone do a pro calibration yet for the fascinate?

Bumping this to see if we can get anymore setups
I'll post my setup just in case anyone else finds it useful. I found that some of the settings posted were somewhat red/green when the screen was really dim (my dim setting is at 10), so I blued it up a bit. Things may not be all that different from stock, I haven't really compared.

Screen RGB:
Red - 23111...
Green - 18713...
Blue - 23724...
Gamma offset:

Green -17
Blue -18
EDIT: When looking at my gmail inbox (namely, unread messages), I still found the gray to be too red. If you agree, I've toned the red setting in SRGB to 21168...
Cleanest colors for me were as follows:
RGB Mulipliers:
Red=4294967290
Green=3354165120
Blue=4294967290
Gamma Offsets:
Red=0
Green=0
Blue=0
All the others I tried were just too red, green, or dark. These are perfect for me, try it out yourself!
--Changed my settings a couple days later..see this post.
Spent some time and found these to be the best settings for me.

Well, tried all the other listed here...liking yours the best so far..wish the app allowed you to TYPE in the values as well as the sliders...o well..
Anyone have the equivalent stock values for this(CM7 stock kernel)...I flashed the glitch kernel and was very put off by the ugly warm color scheme....what was wrong with stock colors any way...IMO they should have some Presets, like Stock, Cool Warm, Standard...kinda like they do for desktop monitors..

It will be fixed in the next glitch update. I'm about to post my color settings which have great vibrance in all brightnesses and color ranges, white whites and black blacks. I have tried just about every recommended setting and nothing has looked quite right until I spent some time making my own.

Hi!
I've noticed that my screen has (okay) color.
I've also noticed that it is possible to calibrate them.
I've tried this through franco.kernel updater and YES, the color has improved.
Now, which calibration settings and procedure would you recommend for the best results?
A different kernel or app perhaps? Specific color profiles, maybe?
Thanks!

Yeah, I'm running franco's kernel + prima drivers.
Thanks for the RGB values. I'll try them out.
Also, anyone running franco.kernel is welcome to post their preferred RGB+gamma values.

The Franco kernel app comes with a big set of gamma profiles submitted by users. You need to press a button in the app to be able to see those though.
I suggest trying those to see if there's something you like.

BIG difference, stock settings gives off a yellowish white (compared to my G2) and with this setting it matches whites exactly. i wish it were a bit brighter though.
