I just wanted to know if anyone else on the forums has been having problems playing embedded YouTube videos. When I click on the video it launches the HTC player, the video fully loads but the video stops a few seconds in and restart, this goes on. Occasionally a video will actually play all the way through.
This video I had problems with:

I have no problems playing videos on the YouTube app, is there any way to just make these videos play using the app instead?

I have done a search and couldn't find any similar threads, so if this has already been answered my apologies.
I am rooted w/ enrevoked3 and running stock 2.2. Every time I try to play a streaming video file, youtube or website, the video plays for about 30 sec and then says "sorry video cannot be played." I've reset to defaults in the browser settings and still showing the same thing. Issue was there before rooting as well.
Am I just missing something, or is it an evo issue?

That is not an Evo issue.
Sounds like your connection sucks.
Yep, bad connection. try viewing on wifi.
Just tested it on wifi and still have the same problem. Thanks though.

It's not an Evo problem, you may have something wrong with your software. Try a basic rom.
I have had this same issue. Any type of video file that I play gives me this type of error. I have even gone to the length of copying the videos in every format imaginable and putting them on my SD card and trying to play them off of the phone. It also happens when I am streaming videos from any website over any connection WiFi/3g/4g. So yes this is an EVO issue it just might be hardware related. I was having this problem before I rooted and no custom Rom or settings have been able to fix it.

Same here.. brand new stock..
Trying to stream video using BlueRSS and it don't work.
Can copy the vide to my SD card and it plays just find.
Done this same setup with my Hero in the past and it has streamed just fine.
Has no one come up with a fix for this yet ? It happens when I stream or have the files saved directly to my SD card. Happens on every file type. Wmv mp4 3gp any video file type. Does not to appear to be a rhyme or reason why it happens. Happens over 3g, 4g, wifi, and stored on SD card. Regular HTC video player, YouTube, internet browser, every video files does it. Some will play for 10 seconds to a minute. Then all give the error "Sorry, this video cannot be played"
Please can someone help.

When I get this message, I just keep trying. After 2 or 3 tries, it usually works.

Ok. It happens on HTC stock Rom with no root. And rooted. Also happens with frosts roms. Have tried a couple different versions of his roms but haven't had it work. I haven't tried any others. I would be willing to do that but I fail to see how if it won't work with either an original stock or a custom how it would work with any other rom.
It appears you don't have this issue yet your just trying to input your opinion. Well for the people this is happening to its very frustrating. And keep in mind I am no novice like most people are/ and some on here are. I am very advanced in IT and have tried all of the trouble shooting that I could think of to fix the problem. That being said if you have a Rom that fixes this and you have gone through it yourself please by all means enlighten us. If not please go somewhere else to post your thoughts. We are trying to actually come up with a solution to the problem not ridicule or talk "down" to the people experiencing the issue.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated if anyone else has fixed this issue with their phone.

I found a fix for mine that has worked for about 4 days with no problems so far. Of course not a fix for the YouTube app, but works for everything else I've had problems with. Downloaded dolphin hd and vplayer beta from the market. In dolphin, go to settings and change the user agent to iPhone. Then use vplayer to stream the video instead of the HTC player.
Worked for me, with airborne virus rom.

It appears that it may be the player that is not allowing streaming. Installed RockPlayer and I no longer get the cannot play video message and the video plays/streams... Give it a try.

I have also found that the latest version of vPlayer Beta now streams as well.
I am so happy!
The solution is to download Miren Browser from Market and set user agent to iPhone 4.

Thanks...this worked for me!!!!
In on wind mobile and ever since I did my first manual update to firmware 2.3.1. I notice almost every time while playing a YouTube video my phone will stop the video and say "touch screen or here to retry" and the video starts all over again. I'm not sure if I'm the only one with that issue because I haven't seen anyone mention this happening.
Is there a solution? Please let me know

Have you tried clearing the cache and data from the YouTube app Manage apps > all >YouTube and trying again?
Just a heads up this is also happening with the Moto XOOM. seems like the player doesnt allow the video to buffer enough.
Yes I have tried that numerous times

Is anyone else constantly getting the "there was a problem while playing" error when viewing videos in the YouTube app?

yeah, only happens with HQ, but i posted a bug report with google. the app is also not caching very much of the videos so it has problems on that front. i have a super fast internet connection too.
yes I get this every time. Once I click retry it doesn't do it again until I play a differ ant video.
When I had my nexus one and I downloaded the new YouTube app it kept doing it so I had to uninstall the update. It wasn't until I got my nexus s the YouTube app worked perfect with the gingerbread update
A quick work around is to use jetvd app from market to stream 720p youtube videos... but eah problem is there and its super annoying. Happens almost every time u pause.
It also reverts to 480p video, and nothing u can do will revert it back to 720p. U have to reload the video. Super annoying
Yeah both wifi and 3g I get the error. Instlling what looks to be an older youtube from the market lets me play HD no problem... just not as interesting looking.

Hey all. Ever since I got my A500, the YouTube app does a force close when I try to view videos on certain channels. I have cleared the cache, app data, and even a factory reset but it doesn't seem to help. The main channel this always happens on is machinima. When I try to play a game trailer or a video from the mortal kombat: legacy series, it just closes, even before starting the video. Any one else have this issue? I prefer the app to the browser, but both are extremely slow in the loading dept. Any help is appreciated. Also, I'm not rooted.
odd
Never had FC issues using the official YouTube app on my a500 until I tried to search for "mortal kombat legacy" and selected the first video I saw by the same user name you mentioned, got a force close when trying to load it.
Would imagine this is a issue with the video format used by whoever uploaded said video.
Well it sounds plausible. I should send the channel a message about that.
