Gingerbread for X10 root - XPERIA X10 General

I just might get the furious anger upon me but...I cant find any info on the rooting of 2.3.3.Is it possible or not or....?

Its possible but not with one of the known methods or tools. But in the development section are many threads about installing a rooted 2.3.3 ROM. Oh before you ask, don't turn on your phone after xRecovery...

You use rooting to remove all of the Samsung and T-Mobile bloatware you would not like on the device. Also you can now install custom ROMS when they are made available such as CM6. Which means you can get future software updates such as OS 2.2 (froyo) before Samsung actually rolls it out. There are other benefits to rooting but you'll figure them out as you go.
How do I remove all that tmobile crap off the phone

Search around on here. There are threads on how to do so. I personally haven't done it yet so I couldn't give you the specifics.

Please read the sticky before creating a thread. All of your answers are there, and a lot of effort went into it to avoid these type of threads (not trying to sound rude).

Root

Hey guys just got the atrix and it's on
What's the easiest way you found to root it?
Sorry it won't let me post in development for some reason
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
it depends what firmware ur on
Gladroot. the link is in my signature below.. make sure you follow the instructions carefully depending on your situation.
Right now, it appears Gingerbreak roots everything, but you need an SD card. See the Atrix Dev forum.
Ok thanks guys will try ginger break

And you should not post in development as your question is not development related.
try typing root in the search box, or any question, you usually get some good answers
I've got a brand new Atrix running 1.26. So far in this thread they recommended Gladroot and someone else Gingerbreak. Is there a benefit to using one over the other? I am admittedly an Android noob and been reading a lot trying to understand flashing SBF, ADB, CWM, etc. Knowing there is a beta update soon to be tested, I would like to use a method that is most likely to work with a new update should it follow on the heals of the beta.
If you have an SD card around, update now, then run Gingerbreak.
If not, follow the process in the Gladroot thread to getting root on 1.57. Assuming you care about the update... there's really no reason not to have it.
In the future, please search before posting a new thread. This has been discussed hundreds of times on this forum, and with a bit of legwork you could have easily gotten all of this info for yourself. Although I will admit the root situation is a bit more confusing now that a new exploit has been found.
Gladroot will give you the option to enable sideloading Gingerbreak does not.
thats just my 2 cents

[Q] downgraded to 2.3.3 for CM7?

do you have to be rooted to downgraded to 2.3.3. i want to downgrade to use cm7. thanks.
i am on a mytouch4g.
previous posts talks about being rooted before, i just need some clarification.
thanks.
Need root, S= off, and clock work recovery to flash custom roms.
there are guides in the dev section on how to achieve all this. MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING about this before you start. Don't be like the tons of others who half ass read and end up posting "tried to root phone, won't boot now" threads.

I dont know if I am allowed to post links to other websites but google CyanogenMod wiki for mytouch 4g and click on the full update guide and it will show you step by step how to downgrade and root the mytouch. Then you can flash any of the gingerbread roms you like. Make sure you follow the directions exactly or else you will brick your device. Also make sure the md5 sums match up for each file before you start the process.

lol i was just looking at CyanogenM im really liking the android 4 OS, id like to put that on my phone. i think what i want to do is get the 2.3.4 back(if i cant get Android 4) and have it rooted
You downgrade to 2.2.1 use gfree to obtain s-off then flash clockworkmod recovery and then flash any rom you want. the software number (2.2.1 2.3.4 2.3.5 etc.) Changes with each rom. Now if you look closely 2 posts up you will see the beta 4.0.1 thread we have and above that the sticky where it shows how to downgrade and how to root after that, PLEASE read before searching and search before posting

1. Yes, but it's only temp root and it's a long process
2. Yes, there is a stock GB rooted ROM on the dev page somewhere
3. Don't really understand your question
4. There is an ICS AOSP Beta. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383629
Also, please post in the Q&A or General next time.
Thanks if I helped!

Search. Read.
Downgrade to 2.2.1, root, flash whatever rom you want. The thread is easy to find.

So i've had my arc S a while...

My previous and first smartphone was the X10 mini pro. After reading about rooting I did it with Superoneclick and it was easy. I also managed to unroot by using SE update service. My question is how can I easily root my Arc S? I dont want to use other roms, just use apps that need it. I dont really understand what flashing is. Also dont want to potentially brick my phone using methods that are hard.
If you would use the search option, there's so many threads already, some of them are even stickies.
Look around a little, you have come to the right place, but no one is going to paste you links here. If you still can't find it after an hour of searching, ask again.

Model : LT18i
Android : 4.04
Baseband : 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028G-77
Kernel : 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
Build : 4.1.B.0.587
Everything is up to date. I have tried searching but have hit brickwalls
To get root on your current set up you will need to use flashtools, go to the development section out the arc forum and download v8 think v9 is a bit buggy.
Next go the general stickies and look in the post by overlo4d on how to root.
you will need too downgrade the kernel so download the kernel you need, then root using doomlords exploit, then upgrade the kernel again found in overlo4d thread.
It is very easy tho sounds complicated.
Everything is explained in the main rooting thread by overlo4d.

This one just appeared.
Rooting isn't possible without flashing, but you don't need to unlock your bootloader for that. Just read everything trough, and download all the nessecery files.
