Seriuos problem in downgrading from wp7 to 6.5 - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hello, Someone brought to me a handset with WP7 for downgrade to windows mobile 6.5, when I try to flash it with stock Rom (taken with serial number) and 3 different other Roms, I encountered with Error 276 (Commiunication Error) and when I extract nbh and try to flash with 2GB memory card,it hangs on Downloading page. what can I do to flashing it? thanks in advance for your attention.

Switch your cable or comp and give it a whirl. If not put the nbh on SD after u rename it. boot into the bootloader and flash from SD.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Premium App

thanks for attention, after executing hspl3, I could flash phone and problem solved.

HSPL Back to original SPL anyone succeed it ?

Hi,
I have a little issue: I HSPL my HD2 no problem with . It's just my phone have a hardware problem & I wanna go back to Original SPL 1.42000. I found the original rom made for my branded handy
extract and rename the .nbh
format sdcard in proper format.
neither in sync nor in bootloader mode. Invalid vendor ID. Rom Upgrade issue for me.
How can I uninstall the HSPL ?
PS/ I tried all words given by bepe and other's concerning issues. I didn't found it. I must sent back my phone soon for warrantly reason...
Did you try to install the ROM from HTC website or did you find an Orange specific ROM?
It is an orange specific rom. cause it is a branded handy.
I even try from HTC website one but no satisfaction. I think it is normal by this one ?
I have a non branded "german" device.
I decided to go back from the HSPL to the stock SPL.
I wanted to flash with the Turkey 1.61 rom to have after this procedure the newest radio 2.07 on it.
I have followed the steps from bepe
But my SD card has a "goldcard" file on it.
Go to the HSPL thread and see my post #383
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
I have noted down all outputs during flashing.
At least I would give it a try and use a "Goldcard" to get back your original rom.
Hope it helps & Good luck!

In addition to what the previous poster described:
One can definitely flash the original ROM using the SD card to uninstall HSPL.
Many people do it by accident...
That being said, one question: Are you sure you have the correct ROM file?
You know, the error you mention only arises if you have to answer "no" to that question.

SD card should be formated FAT32. The original one is FAT16
What does it exactly mean: "One can definitely flash the original ROM using the SD card to uninstall HSPL"
We can uninstall HSPL by loading the .nbh from the official ROM from htc website from fat32 formated sd card ?
If the answer is yes, I have done it many times but no satisfaction.
Yes I use the proper and official htc and/or orange .nbh.
How to get out please.

If you do all steps in the correct way, flashing the original nbh with the SD card will definitely overwrite HSPL with stock SPL.
It has happened to quite a lot of people who were not aware of the fact that this happens when flashing a stock ROM with this method.
When you get a wrong carrier ID error message, you don´t have the right ROM, as the device will only allow to flash ROMs with the correct CID, be it HTC or operator stock ROMs.
Did you check the SPL version after the process with the SD card? If it says 1.42.0000, why don´t you try flashing with the original RUU?
yes confirm

I confirm: it happends to me: when I flashed the 1.61 HTC official rom from my SD, it replace the HSPL by the original SPL of HTC.
hi all, just want to share..
stock spl is 1.42 and after hspl 1.42hspl or 1.42.6666 if i'm not mistaken.
if to unsintall this hspl, i use flash using sd card method and it will re write radio and spl back to 1.42.
i also using turkey stock rom, but we cannot flash turkey stock rom using sd card method as it will rewrite spl and will give you error. wrong region. if this happen, in 3 colour mode, run you hspl. when it restart, make sure you push volume down button to get back in tricolour mode. if you not pushing vol down button, it will also boot in tricolour but hspl wont work, happen to me, spl back to 1.42.000. the flash using custom ruu.
just sharing with you guys.

It should be LEOIMG.nbh.
dont forget you might want to use MTTY to do task29 to format the device instead of CustomRUU.exe
tbh you can probably use the RUU from HTC if you have HSPL anyway.
p.s. yeah LEOIMG.nbh - LEOING.nbg made me smile - finger-twister
Okay I have tested restoring SPL1.42.0000 on a vendor-id'd phone.
Tried 2 ways of formatting the SD card:
a. formatting the sd card to FAT32 via Diskdrive mode connected to pc
b. Formatted in HD2 using onboard utility in HD2.
Tried 2 images but not the vendor-id image since I do not have that image.
a. Vendor ROM but in different language
b. Stock ROM HTC
Tried 2 ways of changing SPL back to 1.42.0000
a. Reset + vol down shows a 1 second message "Checking.", after that it immediately goes to the blue-green-red bootscreen showing bootloader 1.42.HSPL
b. From bootloader connect USB to pc and flash using stock RUU.
All combinations of above I can not restore SPL. Must be because HD2 requires correct ROM image + correct vendor-id.
Is there possibly a way to remove HSPL in some way without the original vendor image? Goldcard?
Check out my video on reverting back to stock spl
Its in my signature.
Not sure if its the same for locked devices though, just have a look

very good manual that is. In video manual is exactly the procedure I did. However the vendor-id'd HD2 won't get to the point where the image can be flashed. It gets to the point up to 1:37-1:38 in your video where the word "Checking..." blinks in an instant. After that it returns to bootloader screen.
So no luck yet

Oh sorry man
Goldcard also tried and no luck.
Every time I reboot to bootloader it gives the colored screen, proceeds to white screen with blue letters, in an instant shows: "Loading..." ..followed by: "Checking..." ..and then returns to colored bootloader main screen.
edit:
I keep thinking whether it is normal or not that the white screen doesn't show any kind of confirmation that it did actually find any nbh file whether it is valid or not. Maybe it just exits when the nbh is not valid, that may be the case.
However I have now ran the routine a whole lot of times and make zero progress.
Maybe better continue the search for the correct ROM to flash with.
just try one of the official roms posted in the official roms thread. don't try 1.61 - only 1.43/48
I have tried all official roms posted including 1.43 and 1.48 and up without success. The bootloader wouldn't go further after having checked the SD card contents. It did not work at all.
Finally now I bricked (I hope temporarily) my HD2 by trying to install the latest official 2.02 from the RUU.
Strange things have happened here.
I had earlier copied an 148 or so nbh to sd card. Bootloader would't work out as explained in posts above. So after all (with card with 148 nbh still inside) I figured it was time to check what ROM 2.02 would do, since I believe it would overwrite all SPL including HSPL since it is a v2 SPL. At least I hoped.
When I opened the RUU, it did reboot the phone as it is supposed to do with RUU.
Few things happened:
a. The phone booted in bootloader and showed me the white step screen which indicated there was a nbh about to be flashed. This was the nbh on the card!
b. The RUU errored with error 260 that the connection was lost. I have never lost a connection, must be because file on sd card took control.
c. Since connection was lost and the phone wanted a flash from the sd card I pressed vol up to continue update. it did start updating... but at about 9% I got a big triangle /exclamation mark, and HD2 stopped updating.
Reboot. Guess what??? SPL 1.42.0000 in bootloader now. From the nbh on the card.
But NO boot, NO radio .... After all I managed to destroy phone and HSPL.
Had to goldcard my way back in. However, problem solved!

[Q]Why can't I update ROMS Since WP7?

Ever since I flashed to WP7, it doesn't allow me to go back to Winmo 6.5, or any other ROM. It says Invalid ID every time I try to update, or change ROMS.
I'm really a noob so, sorry for the trouble guys, help would really be appreciated.
your easiest way would be through flashing a winmo 6.* rom by SD card.
Just extraxt a rom from htc.com and rename the *.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh and put that on the root of a (preferably clean) SD-card. Boot into bootloader ( reboot + volume down button) and it will ask you wether you want to flash/install rom from sd-card. ...follow instructions and you are back to base.

Well I've alot of ROMS. I also tried to update MAGLDR v1.12 to v1.13 so I can get android up and running.
I also tried to SD card and it never asked me if I wanted to boot from there...
Sometimes I wonder how people get themselves into this kind of situation...
And also, some hints and tips are kind of "incomplete"...
Maybe you´re basically performing the right steps, but if you get the wrong ID error message, this can have a few reasons:
1) Your device is branded - get the correct operator branded stock ROM
2) Your device is localized (Europe, Asia, Australia, US) - get the correct ROM for your area
Since you have HSPL on your device, it is not necessary to flash via SD card to go back to WinMo 6.5. You could actually put your HD2 into the standard bootloader mode, plug it to the PC via USB cable, and flash using the RUU tool you prefer (either stock or custom ROM).
If you want to flash an Android NAND, the procedure is slightly different, but I won´t go into this at this stage...

No GO GO GO - different kind of fault

Help Needed Folks-
My unit is the US T-Mobile HD2.
I had android running fine for a few weeks untill it no longer booted past the 'go,go,go' stage.
Its running SPL-2.08 and was using the Desire HD android build and Magldr 1.10.
After reading on various threads re 'go,go,go fault', i now have flashed Magldr 1.13 and then reflashed the android desire hd build all ok.
Problem is it still wont boot past the 'go,go.go' stage. Ive searched numerous threads and cant get my head around this and am now thinking its perhaps a hardware fault as opposed to software, unless ive overlooked something.
Please, i know im new but ANY help or ideas would be appreciated in trying to revive my 2 week old phone.
Thanx & appreciation in advance
Ps- i posted this in The Lounge which might be unsuitable. Moderator please delete it if reqiured.
flashed the rom again?
If all is in NAND (no data.img on SD) then remove the SD and ty again.
Same issue???
The sd card was not in the ph when i flashed. Would this have been a problem?
ie - should the sd card remain in the ph to flash etc?
Thanks for your time.

What ROM are you using and how are you applying it (through DAF or CWM)?

Ok, firstly i tried to re-flash it (without sd card) and again the same problem occurs.
The rom used is based on the Desire HD build. Run DAF file as administrator.
In the Magldr 1.13 menu i tried option 8 - AD Recovery and it lists the following:
'No Boot Sources'.
Its got me stumped........Any ideas ?
Do i have to flash a radio for the T-Mobile version, as i never did originally and all was working fine ?
Sorry to be a pain fellas, and again, ur time is much appreciated.

You can't do both. If you flash with Daf, then cwm is useless
No need of SD to flash (with DFT of course!)
If you flash a build with DFT you remove CWM (so it's DFT build OR CWM but not both).
You're build is a big one (HD with Sense I think). Are you sure it doesn't have data on the SD? Or need an ext partition?
Read the first page of the thread of your build to be sure.
Usually it's better to put the SD to start Android on first start as it create some hidden folders (files also maybe).
You better delete/recreate the SD partition (fast format sometime doesn't remove SD corruption).
If this doesn't work. try to redo all (SD partition delete, WM stock flash, MAGLDR flash, Build flash).
It cost nothing to do few task29 (even if I don't knwo which part of the NAND it cleans).

You need to flash the new CWM after flashing MAGLDR 1.13, as CWM is now provided as a raw image that you flash through DAF. Once that is done the AD Recovery option in MAGLDR will work and you will be able to boot into CWM to flash ZIP ROM's.
What I understand is that he's trying to flash a DFT build. So it's useless to flash CWM, it will be removed when he'll flash his build with DFT.
Of course he can also flash CWM and use another build (or maybe the build is provided in the two versions...).
Sorry but I don't know the build you want to use.
Just come to my mind. Maybe the build you download is corrupted.
Apply my previous advices and try with another build (one you have on your laptop and you have used before successfully or a new one you download).

Make sure you do a task 29 first before flashing a wm rom.

you can use this one.
And this is a ROM list.

WP7 to Windows Mobile

Hey guys im kinda confused about this but here we go let me explain.
Im currently on the WP7 rom [ROM][24 LANGS] 02.04.12 HD2O© v2.00b5 WP7 TANGO 8773 [ONLINE]
i dont really like it and its buggy so i would like to go back to the stock windows mobile rom then flash one of the custom roms for it maybe.
I have the Australian Telstra T9193 if that is important
if someone could just help me get it back to stock would be great because i bougt the phone with windows phone 7 already on it so im a big noob and i plan on selling the phone soon anyway.
btw does flashing the stock rom remove magldr? i have no clue and ive tried reading around but i just dont understand all this lol
Yes flashing the stock ROM for your HD2 will remove the WP7 ROM and MAGLDR. You can flash it via your computer while connected via USB with a RUU. Or you can extract the ROM from the RUU and flash it via SD card. I suggest you just use the RUU though as it will clean the NAND before installing the ROM.
