Seems like I'll be getting a Hero in October
does anyone know if the hero will be coming to AT&T??
I think it's ridiculous that AT&T hasn't picked up ANY android devices yet.

Well, didn't it go to the FCC with AT&T bands?
Nahh. I dont think it will be going to ATT!
Its pretty much comfirmed by now that it will be coming to Sprint. Sucks for me but guess ill be moving.
im gonna go sell my HTC Hero which arrives tomorrow and just wait for the us Version.
Yes, 850 & 1900 3G bands were passed for the HERO on the FCC side. How much you wanna bet it goes to Rogers before AT&T. I think that's why it was passed thru the FCC which is fine by me as that model will work fine thru AT&T 3G bands here in the USA.

have you checked the new rumors and sources...
There was a link on HTC website support page which stated
"HTC HERO (Sprint)"
dont believe me try this:

i take the FCC approval as better news that its coming to ATT than HTC website showin HTC Hero (Sprint)...that does not show enough evidence that it will release on sprint...typo or or whatever can happen...we just have to wait and see...waiting for more news on the sony xperia x3 snap dragon thats a beast of a android phone.

There is far more evidence to support a Sprint release than an ATT release. The FCC approval could easily be for an unlocked 3G version of the device, and have nothing to do with ATT. Everyone just assumed it was for ATT. Live in denial all you want, but it's looking more and more likely that the Hero is coming to Sprint. A typo as specific as that is just way to unlikely.

Or maybe, just maybe, it's coming to both. One interesting note is that the FCC document is called NM8_HOT. NM8 is used to identify HTC as it relates to the FCC. I was wondering if HOT might actually be H(er)OT where T is also AT&T's stock symbol. I dunno...
I don't like Sprint but I welcome any Android devices on more carriers. The more widespread it is, the more end users and developers we'll get.
the model that passed the FCC could merely be a version for Canada or Latin America. one of the Omnia's passed the FCC with AT&T's 3G bands, but it turned out that it was bound for Latin America, which I guess uses the same bands as AT&T does. I'd love to get this phone, but idk if I'm willing to pay the full unlocked price from Clove, especially taking into account all the issues I've read and heard about the lagging and such. if it had a better processor, then I'd consider buying an unlocked one, but since it doesn't, I think I'll be waiting for a better Android phone. possibly the Sony Ericsson one

While I'm eagerly waiting for the HTC Hero to come to Canada, is there any specific reason why the FCC has to file and go over phone destined for Canada or Latin America?
My Dell rep, said he would ship asap when it is on their website.
Will this unlocked version work on 3G for TMOUS.?
We have yet to see any physical proof of any of the devices out there having the 1700 3G band for T-Mobile. My only hope is from @MattatDell on twitter saying yesterday that the US Streak will have "final hardware". I hope that means a different radio chip to support T-Mobile 3G.
I'm still on the fence if I'm going to jump ship on T-Mobile to go to AT&T for this device. I guess I'm waiting on some official specs, dates, and pricing before deciding.
NICE thanks for the info.
There is a confirmed Texas give away Dell streak with tmobile 3G... A user posted an eBay link to the seller and with a working tmoble 3G sim. The post is in this forum.
AT&T X10a owners: Link to online petition for AT&T to honor their word for 2.1
Since the 2011 MWC has come and gone with AT&T ending the life of the X10a earlier than expected, without ever explaining why the United States did not get the Android 2.1 update, or offering any consolations, please sign this petition to make AT&T honor their word. This is not my work.

As the owner of the International model, I found this encouraging. I don't know if anyone saw this article, but it says that T-Mobile is going to revamp their network to make it compatible with iPhones and other smartphones.

I know there had been some hinting about this effort, but I heard last month that they had abandoned plans to reconfigure their network. This article seems to say full speed ahead.
Finally an amerikan carrier with some sense! That's sorely lacking...

i hope this comes to fruition very quickly.
i like buying phones off contract and most (if not all) off contract international phones only support ATT bands.
being able to purchase pretty much ANY GSM phone and have it work on tmobile would be a godsend and that will pretty much have people jumping ship from att to tmobile.

I will be getting it when it is released, sounds like some time in July. I hope US cellular uses similiar software as the other carriers. I have the s2 and is rooted, but not much else is compatible so hopefully the s3 will have more options once rooted as the other carriers. US cellular is the only carrier in my area with 4g service, so that is why I am staying with us cellular, why pay for a 4g phone if you cant utilize 4g I figure

I have researched the various carriers and offerings for a yr or so anticipating a new phone upgrade myself. US Cellualar uses CDMA technology for the service which is the lesser used of the 2 in the USA. The other is GSM, which constitutes 70% of the market here. I currently have a I Wireless Galaxy Vibrant S which is a partner of T-Mobile. This is GSM based and has had quite an extensive ROM development on xda. I have checked the CDMA US Cellular models on xda and have found none. I checked other CDMA phones and found some Sprint and Verizon phones. Their coverage lacks in my area. Do not hope for development on xda on a US Cellualar version of the SIII. I hope I'm wrong. Although, due to coverage issues, I may still be getting the US Cellualar SIII. My second choise is AT & T which also is a GSM carrier, but coverage in my 2 areas of need is worse than US cellualar. Good luck.

Are you sure that US Cellular is GSM? They are a CDMA carrier, I believe you have facts incorrect

Reverse all my comments concerning GSM and CDMA in the quoted text. I got mixed up. I edited the original post. Thanks dzonzik.
Here's the carriers and their technology types:
CDMA: Alltel, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Verizon
GSM: AT&T, T-Mobile
iDEN: Nextel
But, xda has not been a ROM developer for US Cellular phones. Some Verizon and Sprint though.
