i think yes coz i dont think branded xperia have diff rom from unbranded one how bout u start with root it, then xrecovery then backup ur rom first then do others

I managed to root it, installed the APK version of xRecovery, installed xRecovery from there but I can't seem to be able to actually get into xrecovery, flashtool's reboot into xrecovery option is greyed out.
Furthermore, the Eclair version this x8 is running is outdated:
Baseband 06 with 2.0.1.A.0.47 while the latest one is 2.0.2.A.0.24, I tried flashing the latest one for this baseband using flashtool with the files from this post but it didn't stick, phone was still running 2.0.1.A.0.47 after the process was completed. SEUS says the phone is running the latest version.
*EDIT* Success, the APK installer wasn't working properly, so I did a manual install and now xRecovery is working *EDIT*
Seriously u should first update to 2.1.1.A.0.6 first which is the latest version..coz most of app here required latest baseband (15) and latest build to work properly

I tried with PC Companion and SEUS, both say that the current version is the latest, and I don't know if I can just flash the newer version in using flashtool.

I thought Generic Nordic is the same as Generic World? There was a discussion a while back that talked about how there isn't such a thing as "generic world" even though it's always referred to as that.

I have mine rooted, Lt15i, with generic world. Just rooted yesterday night, dont see bugs or problems at the moment.

I'm sorry, it's not so easy..... you have to root with recovery, and after that load a zip file with cwm. That's how i did it, and the way it works for me.

Can u provide a step by step instruction if you have time to write down?
I have an lt 15i, bootloader unlocked: yes, and now i am on lt15i 4.04 FR version.
What i did is:
flash the phone with a lt15i 4.04 FR edition with 562 kernel inside (it is on this forum)
start the phone with a lot of errors
root the phone with one click root. OK
put the phone to flash again and flash only the 4.04 kernel (ONLY, it is also on this forum)
at the end i started the phone, now i have a 4.04 FR version, rooted and with 431 kernel..but from pieces.
The removal process of FR bloatware it works ONLY with root explorer software.
Now i see there is a generic world firm but no easyroot process.
how to root ??? ( i want to install this generic world from one piece).

If you have bootloader unlocked and want root.
1. Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680793
2. fastboot.exe boot boot.img (This command won't flash the kernel just boot it)
3. Download Superuser from http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and flash it.
4. Rooted
I might aswell upload a prerooted system.img file, anyhow both methods requires bootloader to be unlocked.

How is the touch screen response ?
I flashed mine with 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 for LT18i and the touch screen was horrible for games (Max Payne, Dead Space, NOVA1,2&3...etc...) in both the cases. (display driver problem i think due to mismatch)
Is it smooth in this version ?

And what does this file do exactly?
Hi guys.
I have a question: the file is presented in a extension named "FTF". The flashtool only sees .img and .sin extensions. How am I able to flash this firmware?
My phone is in bootloop, but I can put in fastboot mode. I need to install ANY ROM, but I'd like the stock-based ones.
I found this firmware and would like to install it.

Mediafire no longer allows uploads greater than 200MB for free accounts which is why this error message has popped up. Will try to upload somewhere else, although won' get a chance until later this week.

I'm currently uploading the pre-rooted version of the generic Australian firmware to Google Drive. It's going to take a few hours, but I'll post the link once (or if?) it's done.

Hi, I have my 6653 rooted and with dual twrp recovery. Can someone please explain how I'd flash the newest firmware so I don't mess something up. Will I have to reinstal apps and re root or anything?
