I managed to root it, installed the APK version of xRecovery, installed xRecovery from there but I can't seem to be able to actually get into xrecovery, flashtool's reboot into xrecovery option is greyed out.
Furthermore, the Eclair version this x8 is running is outdated:
Baseband 06 with 2.0.1.A.0.47 while the latest one is 2.0.2.A.0.24, I tried flashing the latest one for this baseband using flashtool with the files from this post but it didn't stick, phone was still running 2.0.1.A.0.47 after the process was completed. SEUS says the phone is running the latest version.
*EDIT* Success, the APK installer wasn't working properly, so I did a manual install and now xRecovery is working *EDIT*
Seriously u should first update to 2.1.1.A.0.6 first which is the latest version..coz most of app here required latest baseband (15) and latest build to work properly

I tried with PC Companion and SEUS, both say that the current version is the latest, and I don't know if I can just flash the newer version in using flashtool.

and y u want to revert back to 006? you can find the 006 version in android dev thread if not mistaken.
*autopromotion mode on*
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011071
*autopromotion mode off*
Here you'll learn how to flash anything you want and links to threads containing flashtool and basebands. But why would you flash older baseband, which doesn't support custom ROMs, is beyond me.
Hello guys!
I was wondering how to restore my phone to 2.1 by SE I've 2.2.1 beta 2.1 mici cm
Have I just to use restore in PCC or SEUS?
thanks in advance!
you should do a backup before install of minicm. Yes, with seus you can restore 2.1, but if you bought your phone from a provider (tmobile) later you need to edit build.prop file in system dir, to get warranty back.
ok thanks, i've a unbranded x8 and I haven't done the backup because I had to upgrade to 2.1.1 from 2.0.1 so i had no features installed
so i have to click repair and it's ok?

Wouldn't it be easier to flash clean 1.6 and then install the branded update via SEUS? Then he wouldn't need to root it in the first place. Unless he wants to
how much was the unbranding and where did you done it?
Just click repair on seus and thats all.
I've no idea whatsoever, I don't use tmobile, I simply suggested that installing pure 1.6 and then updating the phone with SEUS will give a similar result as setting build.prop for a proper network - SEUS will install you a proper version for your network anyway.
somewhy i can't change the baseband... mayable it's because im running freex10 2.2? i always get ''unknown baseband'' and when i do a factory rest nothing happens...
the rom probably doesn't support the baseband you are flashing.....
so would the original se's rom's support 2.0.49 or 2.0.52?

yeah it should for sure....
You could flash the baseband patch to fix the problem as well in case you want to use a different baseband with a 2.2 rom then recommended
but i am now using the original 2.1 2.1.A.0.435 and after i flash .49 it still says Unknown...

Try cobs miui you can use .49/.52, or his has the patch included in the downloaded file if you want to use .54 , .55 or .58. Killer rom too, no bugs and fast as hell

Help with 3G in my x10i
Hello, I want to flash my xperia. I have an x10i with the original 2.1 2.1.A.0.435 with tmobile.. but Im using the hanset in Colombia with comcel, so 3G doesnt work.
I wonder if by flashing my hanset could I get 3G? what do I have to do?.
Also I would like a generic flash so when the gingerbread update arrives I could use SEUS for the update. Is it possible?. If I put a new rom in my hanset , is it possible to go back to the original handset?

No, 3G will not work because the phone does not have the necessary hardware.
1. Flash this http://www.mediafire.com/?j5on1nw8obzejlw 0.42 generic world
2. Root your Phone with DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su
3. Update over the air to 0.62
i´v just tried this and it works perfectly!
UPDATE
This rom is Generic Global Rom for LT15i, i dont know if that works similar to LT18, because i cant test it.
www.mediafire.com/?8ebba1p37e74b1v
check this out if you have LT15i.
thanks , I did it. downgrade to 42 and rooted.
Does the funktion "Don't wipe userdata" work at flashtools? (or loose i all my settings?)
Sent from my LT18i using XDA App
i whiped all my things befor i flashed Generic global! you can download any free recovery app and save anything after flashing and rooting and updating only download again an recover that all back
ok, thank you. i will make before a "Restore"-Point with the CWA-Installer. Then i flash the .42 from your link without "wipe data" and i will see, how it works
If it´s wok, everything is fine, if it doesn´t work, i flash a second time an "wipe data".
I will report....
Hopefully it will work properly coz I tried everything to fix the issue

does it work for you ?
yes of course. I have all datas (i don´t "wipe data") Now i´ve a rooted .62 with all my datas. Only my own Background was after the update not on my homescreen, but thats no problem.
Bevore I delete now the bloatware, i make a "restore"-point with CWA. So, if in the future a new update come (OTA), i can install the "untouched" .62 and OTA should work without flashing with flashtool.
may i ask something. link at the number 1. is't the original fw for LT18i?
yes this is original firmware firmware
first is LT18i
second is LT15i

Sorry for my ignorance bro, but what do you mean by you can't update because I will lose my device's root config? Are you referring to updating from 4.0.2.A.0.42 to 4.0.2.A.0.62 after rooting? But the instruction from the first post said that after rooting update to 0.62. Thanks.
Hi
I have just switched from HTC HD2 to Xperia Arc S.
I know all there is to know about flashing the HD2 (WinMo and Android), but next to nothing (yet) about Xperia. I gather that .62 can't be rooted yet, so you'll have to downgrade, root and then upgrade back to .62 OTA. Does that mean that it will also be possible to upgrade to ICS (when that's ready) from a rooted .62_)?

Guys i have flashed my arc s with many custom roms and i flashed basebands and kernels and all such stuffs.
I wanted to know now if i want to make my phone back to like it was out of box, should i just flash the firmware via flashtools?
Will everything be same like new? (Baseband, Kernel)
Wifi, 3g etc everything will be normal like before just by flashing a official generic rom (Not to flash baseband or kernel or so?)
Thank you

If your bootloader is locked, you can use Sony Update Service.
If bootloader is unlocked, you cannot use the Update Service, you would only have Flashtool left to flash a stock ROM on your phone.

But why you want to lock bootloader with Flashtool and recover with Sony Update Service when you can recover with Flashtool alone?
