I was recently given a DROID 2 on vzw but I have ntelos. Can this be switched over? I've tried searching for info but no dice so far. I have other ntelosdroid phones if I need to use one as a donor.

Im tryin to tether my droid 2 to my droid 1 so I can still mess around on the droid 1... I've tried both market version and the pre9 off the google project site... and the droid 1 can't see the d2 on either wifi or bluetooth... I've also tried a couple diff channels... the d2 can connect to the d1... is there some extra step I got to take to get it working... or can I even get it workin... both are rooted and droid 1 is running frozen yogurt

According to some things that I have read, your Droid 1 needs to be running Cyanogenmod 6 in order for it to pick up Ad Hoc networks, which is what your Droid 2 puts out. If it is running that then everything I have read points to yes, you can tether the Droid 1 to the Droid 2.
Yup that worked thx a alot

Just got a new Verizon Galaxy Tab and am wondering if the DroidX multi touch keyboard can be instaled on it? I found an apk floating around but it seemed to be a 2.1 port and force closed as soon as i installed.

I think there was a thread about this at one point, and no one had much luck with it. I tried at least 4 different versions of the apk, including one that was supposed to work on 2.2 but no dice. I'm assuming someone with some skill may be able to modify it to work at some point. People suggested getting Smart Keyboard Pro from the market instead, so I gave it a shot. Costs a couple bucks, but it works amazing, and has just as good multitouch, if not better than the Droid x's.

Kool. Just downloaded the trial version and am using it now. Seems to be very similar to the Droid x.

Folks, my children gave me a galaxy tablet for Christmas. I would like to use out with my rooted droid for wifi,as I have wifi tether on my droid. I am currently on Verizon I have seen instructions on using the z4root applicayion, but then I read that it no longer works. I couldn't find it in the market.
Can someone point me to a reliable process whereby I can get my tablet to recognize the wifi signal from my rooted droid? Thanks so much in advance!

Has anyone done this yet. I found a thread where this was done on liberty 1.0 but couldn't (not smart enough) to determine if it is possible on other roms.

About two weeks ago I swotched from liberty, I had to choose between apex and ds, I could not find an unthrottle.zip for ds so I went with apex it has the option to unthrottle in the toolbox.

It's possible on almost every rom out there. Just do some Google searching and I'm sure you'll find it
Sure its possible all you have to do is modify the service.jar

Ds is the best rom out there for the x..it is possible to achieve that but you do have to alter the service jar...
but using apex come on ppl darkslide is the way to go and with ds3 coming out nothing close can touch it.

What do you mean uncapped?
Is that like, bypassing your carriers data block? i.e. ive got 500MB a month... by uncapped, do you mean my phone would be ignoring those 500mb and (obviously) i wouldnt have to pay jack to my carrier?
This sounds INTERESTING...
It is just a mod to take throttling away not atually uncapping data

So what you want is to have actual minutes, data, etc. without a package? Just want to make sure I'm reading this correctly.
I know that my unactivated Droid X still connects to the Verizon towers, it just doesn't do anything.
If you just want to use the phone for surfing on Wi-Fi, Google Voice, etc, you can bypass the activation by touching the four corners of the screen in a clockwise direction starting with the upper-left when it says to touch the Android to activate.
In most cases, it'll re-request activation each boot, but this can be dismissed by simply pressing the Back key.
