doesn't mention the 5 w/ HC just the 10 & from the looks the 7...hopefully I'm wrong..but more than likely not,,
In any case, it might make a cooked HC ROM easier!
streak 7 looks like honeycomb... prob DJ_Steve's!lol!
the streak 5 looks like gingerbread to be honest.
look at the green icons and launcher/phone dock
looking forward to this.... hopefully soon.
IIRC, my Streak with stock Froyo 2.2.2 had a *white* notification bar, while in the article's photo the Streak 5 has a *black* notification bar:

So, hopefully it is Gingerbread.
P.S. Also, IIRC the Stage UI came with the Froyo update. So, the Streak 5 in the photo above cannot be running Donut 1.6.
It would be great to have gingerbread on the 5 with a better and no laggy launcher.
It says, seen here in real today on it's smaller siblings dell streak, and 7

No..... "Sitting comfortably(the 10" Tab) with his older yet smaller siblings the Dell Streak, and the Streak 7.
reading is ... ahhh...nvm...
Gingerbread vs Honeycomb
Honeycomb I might be interested in. I have a Gingerbread tablet, everything is great except I discovered Ginger has real wifi issues with n routers. Even combo b/g/n. I glad I discovered this before I tried putting a custom Gingerbread rom on my great little tablet. As it is it connects without any issues and Netfiix is a dream.

Pretty sad that we finally got Froyo (albeit unofficial) the same week that iPhone did.

Yep, i did. Kinda interesting that iPhone got froyo before we did.
Thought there'd be a few opinions on it. If not, no big deal, that's the way forums work. You post, if people want to talk about it, they do, if not it goes away (or people who dont want to talk about it can be a smartass and keep it at the top). Not like i posted in the dev section.
wowwww iphone has froyo and my epic 4g still doesn't officially have it. (havnt made the jump into rooting yet)

I was pretty ambivalent about froyo until I learned that it was on freakin' iphones already.
Oh well.. "end of the month" they say..

froyo dj29
it seems to me that every one is getting the update ,,,but sprint, i think they are holding back, the 2.2 update for a new pad that is coming out,
i am running the leaked 2.2.1, it works good , just a little laggy, on the home screen,
i installed this on epic 4 g
the down load speed is just a little better
the battery life is a lot better
every thing seems to work
it is very sable
i would say it is a good flash
So I was just doing some research and it seems that 3.0 HoneyComb is just going to be for tablets. So my question is since it will be released for the tablets is there anyway to take the os to make a phone version or is this not possible. I know all this is premature as most phones don't even have gingerbread yet but the tabs like the g-slate from lg and the dell coming in Q2 its not that far away. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on this topic?

I would imagine a lack of resolution would be the problem or pointlessness in using honeycomb.
If you look at my thread from a week or so ago with the honeycomb and motoxoom preview, a few members mentioned something like that, that some features would make it to a phone version of honeycomb,.... I did some googleing, but couldn't find anything. Fingers crossed though, we live in hope.
Watch the interview with Matias Duarte on Engadget. He says Honeycome is absolutely the future of all Android devices, and it will intelligently scale itself to provide the best experience per form factor.
The idea that it is only for tablets is from a very unclear line in a video that was made to emphasize the benefits of android 3 for tablets (vs anything else that anybody is running on tablets).
I.e., it means that they have added special provisions to make it good on tablets. NOT that they have taken phones out of the picture.

Please let us know your initial impressions. Maybe some pics with the zagg on it. I have ordered the Transformer, but will most likely buy the a500 too to do a comparison and see which one fits me best. Does the weight of it get fatiguing?

I love my Iconia its great!
My initial impression on the weight was that it was a bit heavy at the start but I found that I got used to it rather quickly and I now no longer notice its weight

Those are with the zagg on I did my best and am happy how it ended up , tested it out a bit last night and love it, great quality, sound is awesome, the weight is no issue I found myself holding with one hand mostly but would use 2 if I needed to... will be playing on it some more before work

Damn, it looks nice. I am always going to wonder if I should have gotten the a500 over the Transformer if I don't compare both myself. Time to make the purchase...
It is nice ;-) I was going to buy the transformer on an impulse from a guy on cl but he flaked and I had cash burning a hole in my pocket so the iconia it was and I have no regrets

And i think too, that 2.3 will not make it run faster. Yes 2.2 wins hands down versus 2.1. Maybe it will help to use phone more because of improved power management, but in performance area i think there will be no improvements that user can feel.
It's just our desire to get latest and greatest.. but as with windows happens - the latest is not always the greatest..rather apposite i'd say

The closer and closer we get to the Unpacked event we get to see their sweets. Either way the UI is nice and I hope they changed the media player and Music
I found this about a half hour ago, saying that and Samsung are going to postpone http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...d-Google-cancel-Nexus-Prime-phone-launch.html unpacked.
Saw the video and I really really like the UI a lot!! Hopefully the prime will go to tmobile in December or even January, hope it does.... I prefer this because it will be the latest and the greatest smartphone with its non-capacitive button design and latest OS..
if that's real, it looks alright. though, i'm surprised at kernel 3.0.1. the switch to 3.0 was just over two months ago, so it would surprise me to see it on android already (considering Ubuntu is still on 2.6.38 and Fedora is using 2.6.40, i would think the full linux distros would be changing the kernel version to 3.0 before android).
Hopefully with Google improving Androids UI, less manufacturers would mess with it.
^^ the manufacturers will always have their own signature of android launcher to differentiate their devices from the rest.. I don't mind it at all as long as they make the UI better and add useful functionality into it..
Is ICS gonna be 2.4 or 4.0?
I just wish that manufacturers would make their launcher work like any other third party launcher instead of integrating it like they do.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If it's a straight Google phone, won't the launcher be ICS stock?
Just something I noticed. Where is the "battery use "in the settings?

I think the fonts are better than current Android versions, but I'm not that impressed.
It's still asking for OEMs to molest it, as well, which is unfortunate.
Not enthused.
