hi,
sorry if i have reposted this i have looked around but not found an EXACT answer.
my question is,
i have installed ATK and set an "ignore list" to all the apps which i want to keep running (eg. Calender) and all widgets.
i have turned AutoKill and AutoStart off
and i am not using the widget (kill via opening app in drawer)
will this speed up my phone atall or am i better off whithout it?
is there any better settings you can reccomend?
Thanks alot
Are you on Stock Rom ?
I would not recommend using a task killer because Android is a multi-tasking OS and closing certain tasks can cause instabilities.
The only time they are useful is if you want to force close an application due to it not responding, which you can do by going into settings.
Using a task killer will most probably not speed up the wildfire nor will it save much battery.
If you find the Wildfire slow, OC it by rooting and flashing a custom kernel.

On stock ROM I sometimes found it useful to use when there was not enough memory available (< 95 MB) and the phone started running slower. On CM7 I constantly have about 180 MB left so no need for the taskkiller, the phone runs smooth enough without it
Thank you all!
Firstly i am on stock rom, and there are just a few apps which i would jsut like to keep closed, such as Gmail (i use the HTC mail instead) or peep, talk and Maps. but if it isnt reccomended i will change.
i want to keep sense, i have used LauncherPro but find Sense UI far better.
how would i go about overclocking? i have read a tutorial about rooting but doesnt look easy for a first time android user,
Android 2.2.1
HBOOT 1.01.0002
Sense 2.0 (i think)
Vodafone UK
12 month contract
S-ON
Not Rooted
Stock ROM
Stock Kernal
let me know if there is anything else you need to know

If your rooted then get titanian backup and freeze apps you dont want to be running at all it stops them without uninstalling and without the need to keep killing it. So i advise you to root.
If you want to overclock then you need root and custom recovery to flash an overclockable kernel such as jacobs. Or a rom with an overclockable kernel 'built in'
Rooting is fairly easy really so long as you have researched and are careful good luck.

Click on this link for the full guide to root your HTC Wildfire:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035
After you follow the instructions in that thread and are successfully rooted, seeing as you like the Sense UI; I recommend you use JokerDroid as your ROM as it uses Sense. You can download it at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999899
Once you have downloaded it, either use ROM Manager or Recovery to flash it and you'll be up and running with Sense.
Next, I think that JokerDroid is already overclocked; but if it isn't, go to the following link where you can download SetCPU which will enable you to overclock ( to 768MHz ):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
You will notice a big difference when you root your Wildfire, it will be like a completely new phone! If you need any help with any of the above don't hesitate to message me. Good luck!

Root your phone, install antek app manager. Freeze applications that you don't want. stocks, footprints etc..
Simples.
titanium backup paid version can also freeze apps

I wouldnt, android stops applications running when there services are no longer needed. Task killer can cause problems with apps.

I just got my droid x and have the latest update 2.2.1 Installed... I love blur but hate the bloated ware that's installed.... what's the best blur rom out? And what is blur 3.0 im hearing about

Stay Stock ROM. Root, overclock to about 1200. Enjoy a superfast phone that everything works on, nice and smooth, no chokes, no worries.
Can u point me to a stock rooted rom please....
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Just use z4root to root your phone yourself. You don't need to install a pre-rooted rom.
I was the same way, I liked some of the Blur apps (without the sms I dont think you can resize video and send an mms, I like the shortcut contact icons) so I run Apex which is great. Runs smooth and fast. you can reinstall any of the removed blur apps by just running the apk in the removed apps zip file he has or by using the terminal emulator which is not the difficult to use once you read how to, so def try apex's rom (1.3.1)
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...x-1-3-0-droid-x-running-running-fast-can.html
On an aside...I tried overclocking and personally (after I clocked to 1.2 or something my phone went into constant reboots and was a PITA to somehow drop it down to 1ghz before it would freeze and reboot, but i didnt notice a huge difference while at 1.1) id just try the roms first...

to clear this up...rooting is a process that allows you to do "things" like install other roms and run some programs...same a sunblood...z4root is the one i use. Then you can try another rom and whatnot
I think he means just root & overclock if you like the blur. You can remove the boat easily after you root ( be sure to make a back up before you start modifying in case something goes wrong or you need to get back stock for an update). You can use Root explorer to rename the apps you don't want or titanium backup to freeze or delete them ( after you make a backup). Rubix blurry is a great custom rom, tranquility lets you add what blur you want back in.

Blur 3.0 is for the D2 (Droid 2) only right now. And I believe it's only a 2.2 ROM and not a 2.2.1 like our DX's. An updated Blur *might* land on the DX but since the D2 Blur update is on an older kernel, they would have to rework it for our device with a newer kernel...more time/effort/money possibly.

i have MT4G running gingerbread 2.3.4 and i install setcpu 2.0.4 but i really new with this and i dont know how to set up and i dont want to mess my phone ,sorry because probably is a stupid question but like i said im new with this! thanks!
Choose governor
Clock speeds you want
Set on boot
Apply
And that's all you should need, you can setup, profiles too.

That's also a very old version. Upgrade to the latest which is 2.2.4 at this point.
One thing to note, certain custom ROMs (like CyanogenMod 7) already have a way for you to adjust CPU settings. If your ROM has this already, use that instead of using SetCPU.
Just to make sure that we asked, is your phone rooted? And if so, what rom did you flash? Pretty safe bet if your unsure is to just run at 1k until you find out all info.
First off thanks to the people who suggested the gfree way it work perfectly second Imma a gamer I like to play a lot of hd games and emulators on my touch what I want to know is which kernel is the best for this and for overlooking second how do I flash a kernel /Rom and when I flash will I have to delete my data like apps games contacts and such sorry for all the questions haven't done this stuff yet very egared by the way
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
When you flash its just like your getting a new phone and signing in all over again. For gaming you might want to check out asop rom like royal ginger for the speed and the kernel that's built in.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Make sure to read the first few posts in the rom and kernel threads-most will give explicit instructions on what you need to wipe through clockwork mod and how to do so. Most also will state the initial boot time to take awhile, so make sure to let it sit and do its thing. As far as backing up data, I prefer my backup root but titanium has its benefits as well. I recommend only backing up app data that you need, like games, etc. to conserve space on your sd card. Then like stated above, you will have to set the phone back up like when you first got it and then restore your apps/data...
Ok so any saved games like assassins creed or mobile combat will yo progress in that game be saved or will u have to start over*

Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yes, just make sure the kernel states it its for your specific rom-i.e. don't flash a cm kernel to a sense rom and vise versa...try to read through the posts in the thread (or search the thread) if you are unsure. Just make sure to follow the op instructions to a t.
Thanks for the info can u give me any recommendation / links

You have rooted stock mysense 2.2.1 correct? Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941141&highlight=Sense+kernel
Again, make sure you read the op a few times so you have instructions down. Also, when you download the kernel, make sure the file size matches the size stated on the download page...occasionally you get a bad download and when you try to flash, it says aborted or something...
And just to be safe...download rom manager from the market, open it (allow su access), at the very top, press "flash clockwork mod recovery-once that is done, right below it says "reboot into recovery", press that...you will now be rebooted into recovery where you should flash your kernel and rom zips from at all times to help eliminate issues. Once you are in recovery, make a backup (usually called a nandroid)! It is always recommended before flashing anything to make/have a backup just in case something goes wrong. After that, just folklore whatever instructions were listed in the op and enjoy!
Yes I have root mysense 2.2.1 lol I read the op still nervous I download Rom manager yesterday and install clock thingy (forgot name ) ok lol anyways I was a little confused when reading not about what to do but which version to download ?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Also when I flash the kernel all data will be deleted like when flashing a Rom so back up wit Titb ? An I was thinking if all data is deleted wouldn't the back up data be deleted as well or is that on the SD card ?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
If you want better battery, go with cfs-better performance go with bfs. As far as voltage, try the lv kernel first and if you run into some issues, then go with stock voltage. As far as data, when you flash a kernel, you are just wiping cache and dalvik cache-not your data. You are just replacing a piece in a puzzle so to speak and not the whole thing (if that makes sense). Anytime you are flashing things, you should have a backup made just in case, but your data should be ok...
Um I still don kno which one to chose . Which one u think I will prefer u kno what I use my phone for 80% gaming / 10% textin / 10 % internet surfing
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Try the bfs low voltage....if things aren't silky smooth, than use stock voltage. You can get set cpu from the xda forum-just do a search for it or you can but it in the market which is what I did-this will allow you to over clock or under clock and you probably want to use performance scaling (governor) when gaming or just set the scaling to on demand-you will have to play with it to figure out what works best for you. Just make sure you hit menu> device selection> auto detect after you install the kernel....
I have set CPU all ready Um by accident I downloaded this app called tasker every heard of it how to use it for best performance or is that what its used for

Do you have fastboot enabled under settings-turn it off if it is. Forget where it resides-maybe apps>development? Think that is your issue
I have tried searhing and I havent found anything like this, so I hope im not in trouble for asking...
Has anyone made or would like to make a custom sense rom with just a few extra apps?
The main reason I am asking is because you cannot access a file manager by downloading from windows to you sd card (you have no option to either download from Andriod Market or using the sync, which doesnt work for me)
Basically I looking for a ROM that is exactly like HTC Sense but has a file manager and a few other apps by default...
Like the ultra bright torch app and the you tube and Iplayer app.
You can alsways use roms that are already out there, but you usually loose the widgets the come with the stock HTC Sense, plus I miss the facebook streams.
Anyways, the main app it need installed is the superuser app and a good (free) file manager, anyone wish to help or comment?
Also, my phone is rooted with the HBoot 001 version, and I have heard roumours that if you upgrade to 2.2.2 then you can no longer root your phone, and since i am getting into hacking and rooting the widfire, I really dont want to loose the functions!
I hope this will start a healthy thread, as most of my threads dont!
Thanks, Keith
you can sideload apps from windows to your phone using sideloader machine for example
- If you are on HBoot 1.01.0001, you already are on Android 2.2.1 (There is no 2.2.2). While official 2.2.1 was not rootable some months back, after the release of AlphaRev / Revolutionary, it is possible.
- Apps can be installed via ADB also. One such guide is here:
http://voxigee.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/using-adb-to-install-applications/
And a Video Tutorial here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27HIDvjdUFM
- Also, Stock Froyo ROM with Superuser can be found here: (Get the Rooted Version). After you install this, you can install the File Manager using the guides above.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877977
- Lastly, for such a simplistic ROM Creations, you can use the DSIXDA Kitchen to cook a ROM yourself. Its easy, and you can add and remove exactly what you want.
Thread here:

Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
If you don't know what to do after a root why did you do it?
Most people get rid of bloatware or try different roms like cyanogenmod, miui or roms with sense 3.
I need root for running a samba server (windows file share) so it's more easy to get photos from and mp3s to the phone. Apart from that i only wanted to get rid of bloatware so my phone would drain the battery more slowly.
I rooted my phone just to oc it. But then i heard if rooted phone can get free apps. Is it true??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Besides oc, there are many other changes, such as boot animation, splash screen, recovery, backup and particularly cooked ROM. CM7, MIUI, ARHD and etc does improve the phone stability, reception, and make your phone versatile. I read one quote in this forum that these ROM makes your US$400 phone becoming US$600 performance.
The best way to make use of a rooted phone is to read and search within threads. Make your choices and ask when you meet problem.

free apps on the market are still free
and installing illegal downloaded apps that cost money on the market....that is possible without rooting.
There are very few apps that need root and normally you will never need them.
With a few exceptions: the app "AdFree" removes almost every in-app ad....and you can use "setCPU" to over- or underclock your phone.
If you really need it (like me) then have a look at cifsmanager....you can mount network shares with that so you can stream videos from every share/computer without having to download them to your phone first. I like it but it's not for everybody...

This is the one that i really really want. Now i use ARHD OC to 1.6ghz set by daemon controller. Already flash blueHD themes,Beats audio system and some rooted apps like addfree.. is there anything else that can i do??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Just search the forum. You'll figure out more than anyone can tell you in a few posts. After flashing a ROM there are a whole lot of mods that you can flash to customize it to your liking. The main purpose of rooting is to have complete control over your phone. What you do after that depends on you. Look around.
Think about Titanium Backup. You could Backup your Apps and settings, if you want to change your ROM later.

As for what app to use post ROOT, I'd say either Mybackup or Titanium backup to start clearing bloatware as well as backing up your apps with its data ready for restore on a new ROM.. ^_~
Terminal emulator is useful too! ^_^
