I know when you install EXT4 it warns you that your phone will stay rooted forever, but I highly doubt that there's zero way to unroot it, you guys can do it. The situation is that my front facing camera is busted through a hardware problem and sprint is willing to give me a brand new one for free but it's rooted. And it's apparently rooted forever. lol Halp?

There's no such thing as rooted forever, unless you want it to be rooted forever. Not sure where you heard or read that. Just use Odin to flash back to stock di18, and you will be good to go.
You can odin back to stock there is a wiki page on out but I don't know the url off the top of my head.

Why don't you just Odin to DI18. You'll be back to stock. Not sure where you are getting your info. Odin is the stock image, wipes everything out. If I were taking it into the Sprint store I would probably format my sdcard too. Just save all your files I your computer.

Thanks for the fast replies. When you root and convert the file system to EXT4, it says you would also permanently install Clockwork mod 3.0.0.5 and root it forever. I'm gonna try to just flash the di18 pda. Thanks everyone!
I can't seem to find the stupid files, can someone link me the DI18 thing?
Here you go. It contains the instructions and files for flashing via odin for a number of epic releases including stock.

Hi all, I've been having problems with my transformer... again. This time I have my transformer successfully rooted with an updated CWM, and flashed PRIME 1.6 and Netformer 1.5. The problem started when I held down power and selected the recovery option in the shutdown menu. the tablet went into a bootloop until I put it into APX mode to run the unbricking tool stickied in the dev section. For some reason, the tool didn't work and it did NOT say "phone update success on the tablet screen."
I then turned it off and my computer makes the USB disconnect sound, but then makes the connect sound right after, and Nvidia USB recovery shows up in device manager again, which means that it is stuck in APX mode. I cannot boot into CWM and I cannot boot up normally because it just dumps me back into APX.
I found a thread of someone who was also stuck in APX mode, but it doesn't help because he just returned the tablet whereas I cannot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169097
So to recap, I am stuck in APX mode, I can't boot normally or into CWM, and the unbricking tool does not work. Help please? I am starting to seriously regret flashing anything
EDIT: I did it! Thanks to all for the responses, I finally followed this guide to nv_flash prime 1.6r2 to my tablet and now it boots! The problem turned out to be that when I used the unbricking tool, it formatted all my data so the tablet was not able to boot into anything. By nv_flashing a rom onto it, it had something to boot into... again, thanks!
Anyone have any ideas? If I can't fix this then $400 went down the drain
Have you tried nvflash? I had that problem but nvflashing prime worked for me.

Did you actually flash a rom? That can happen when you dont have the appropriate files in the directory. Refer to the video that demonstrating an NVflash.

I think I'll just try to send it to asus and see what they can do since NVflash doesn't work

Are you sure you know what nv_flash is? This is only run in apx mode.
Did you try the one click batch method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
See whether that works for you...
keep this thread open, I would really like to know what the OP did to get out of this mess.
I would also like to know if other peeps running Prime 1.6 can press the recovery button instead of shutdown for some testing.
What kind of testing? I just did root a TF, backed it up, installed Prime, clicked the Recovery button and did a back up. Zero trouble.
I think this is my 7th or 8th root. People at work just keep bringing them to my office
It sounds like you didn't have a Rom when you nvflashed. If you just downloaded nvflash file in the stickied unbricking post then you will format everything without putting anything back on. You need to Rom that was built nvflash and put it in the root directory of the nvflash folder. There are some stock Roms available somewhere & also a prime 1.4 nvflash. They will install a recovery and then you can flash whatever you want from there.

I am currently running Prime 1.6 and i did a recovery method the other day to update a rom and it worked just fine.
I did it since i updated from 1.5 to prime 1.6 and had to re install the Clemsyn-blades cause the overclocking rom got disabled after update...
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll try the link that Q.Entity posted first.

Okay so the unbricking nvflash formats everything, meaning I can't boot normally because I have no ROM? Shouldn't I still be able to boot into CWM though?
Also, the prime 1.4 nvflash thread you're talking about is this right? If I follow that guide will it install prime 1.4 during the nvflash process? If so, that will probably solve my problem
should work, but why stop there, I went ahead and popped on Prime 1.6 and then flashed a different kernel as well. I mean, I nvflashed from temp brick, perhaps like yours, and instead of flashing 1.4 prime I went ahead and did 1.6 since I already had the zip. I also at some point did the unbricking nvflash to stock rom, then used the pure root for tranformer method that includes CWM and then flashed Prime. regardless, both ways I was temp bricked. The key for me was knowing that I was in APX mode even though Device Manager in wndows 7 64bit did not show I was. Hope I could help, I am only speaking from my OWN experience with this device and prior mistakes.
EDiT: I also noted as some point that I could not get into recovery becuase I was not paying attention to my recovery screen. If all is correct, then when you hold down Vol- and power button, you are only given 5 seconds to press vol+ button to enter CWM.

The batch pure root script didn't work for me, even though I tried nvflashing the stock boot.img and recovery. No matter what, I couldn't get out of APX mode. The transformer immediately turns back on and puts me back into APX mode after I turn it off. Device manager and the USB connect/disconnect sounds confirm this. I'm afraid there's no way to get out
Why are you doing a pure root, after nv_flash. Why not just nv_flash prime 1.6 and be done? That will have everything working.
Yep.. your doing things kinda backwords.

I think I am gonna speak out the honest truth and say I wasn't lying, and here goes...
I followed up on Brks Root Kit v7 and it worked beautifully, then I saw another thread about getting root with losing the bricking fault, so I tried the nvflash to remove bricking...but I think I rewrote it too fast before thinking I better check the APPs on my Transformer and see if I got a super user apk in there, but I didn't and forgot to hestitate but bricked my TF101 Transformer
Help, It only is showing power up when I press it and gets stuck at boot of ASUS Screen page.
It's not bricked yet. Read the forum carefully mate.

Well now most of my apps force close, can't connect to Xda forums, wallpapers don't work, wifi barely works, etc.
Should I go back to bestbuy and exchange it? I've had it for less than a week. I just want one that works! I love this tablet though.

Was it running 3.0 or 3.1 when you got it? If so it should have prompted you and asked you if you wanted to update.
The easiest thing, especially if you are new to the world of android, would be to exchange it at Best Buy. There are ways of fixing it, but that would involve reverting back to an older honeycomb version, rooting it and possibly installing a custom ROM.
Edit - It appears you are not new the the Android world. My bad...... You probably know a lot more than I do!
Was it always giving you errors, or did they all of a sudden just pop up?
It never promoted anything, it just asked me to update acer drivers or whatever so I did. Next thing I know I'm on 3.2

I was never promoted for an Android update, just acer updates. I've only had this thing for a week, not to mention i've never "officially" updated an Android devices.
I'm aware I would have to downgrade. How difficult is it? It seems pretty simple, but I've never done it before. Is all data wiped when you downgrade?

First of all, please remove any task killers or "battery savers" you're using. These are pretty terrible for any android OS newer than 2.1. Try to stay away from them. You can get away with "passive" ones like as an example, Watchdog. But nothing that actively shuts down processes and such.
This isn't supposed to be possible, but do you happen to have any apps auto-moving other apps to the microSD card, or are you using any apps to do this manually? By design I don't think that can even be done inside of Honeycomb, but I'm aware that some apps 'force it'. If you do, move any and all apps on the microSD card back to the internal storage of the A500 - then remove the offending 'mover' app.
Stupid question, but have to tried powering the tablet off and back on? If not, let's try that first, shall we?
Second thing - if it's still force closing when it comes back up, try using the reset on the side of the unit. What I want is basically to have the tablet hard reset (the equivalent of removing the battery for a few seconds).
To do this put something in the little reset hole for 10 seconds or so while the unit is on, so you can see it reboot. Once it turns off you can remove the item from the hole.
Still force closing apps? Alrighty then, moving on:
If you are using a completely stock A500 (and yes, I did read that you said you are), then just factory reset it and you should be alright. It won't downgrade to 3.1, but why would you want it to? 3.2 is working great for many of us.
I'd love to get to the bottom of your force closes. But alas, that may be just a bit much to deal with for a new user so go ahead and do the factory reset.
To do a factory reset, go to Settings and then Privacy and the option is in there. I would remove the microSD if you have one inserted (it's not necessary, but just to rule anything out).
Since it's only a week old hopefully you don't have too many apps or settings invested in the tablet.
So to summarize:
1. Uninstall any and all task killers or battery savers
2a. Make sure you don't have any programs automatically moving apps to the microsd. Move any apps you have installed to the microSD back to the internal storage
2b. Remove the microSD card
3. Power cycle the device (then 4 if 3 doesn't work)
4. Hard reset the device (then 5 if 4 doesn't work)
5. Factory reset the device
If you factory reset and STILL get force closes when you're back up then unfortunately there's something wrong with either the core software (maybe a bad update) or the hardware. Return it in that case.
Good Luck. Please let me know how it goes.
I'm not new to Android, just new to this device.
I never use task killers.
No app2sd stuff.
Rebooted multiple times.
I've removed the SD card and even tried a different one.
Hard resets don't do anything for my problem.
Why would I want 3.1? To root it. 3.2 is useless to me without root. Apps like drive mount make this tablet much more useful, but they require root access.

Exactly! Currently there is no root for 3.2 on our device. Hence having to downgrade to 3.1, root, and install a pre-rooted 3.2 ROM. IMHO the stock based 3.2 ROMs are the most stable, and trouble free.
If you're not new to Android you should have no problem following the procedure.

Althought it is easier to do it with a computer (to get the files). You can download them straight to your tab, transfer the files over to your external SD card and away you go! I've installed a few ROMS without the help of my computer. Afterall, that's part of the reason why I got a Honeycomb tab, so I wouldn't have to rely on a computer unlike other "tablets" on the market LOL!

Maybe it would help if you remove all apps that require root access, FCs may be caused by them since you don't have root anymore. Actually you don't need root anymore to mount NTFS hdds - 3.2 took care for that. The one thing I need root now is to map the keys of my USB keyboard to my liking. Probably I'll flash a custom kernel when I feel the need for OC but still it runs everything I throw at it.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
I uninstalled them, or most of them at least. I'll continue looking for root apps.
I've got my hdd formatted to fat32 but my tablet still doesn't see it. I really wish it could, that's why I want drive mount to work so badly. I'm not sure why it's not working though. It did before, but now that there are files on it won't. If I can fix that, I'm fine waiting for ICS.

so are you stuck with the stock bootloader? or can you download CWM and flash an alternate recovery? if you can do that (does that apk require root access??? I honestly do not know???) then there are all the stock and rooted OS's here on XDA somewere? if CWM does then cant you still get one of the older OS's (rename it update.zip) and flash it with the stock recovery image? if any of this is simplistic I appologize just trying to help, I should probably stay out of it and let the experts help...
I'm stuck with the stock bootloader. I never got a chance to flash a recovery.

You would probably benefit most by using KFFA to return to 7.2.3 then root, remove OTA updates and install GApps. This way when you go to install a custom ROM, you have a matching boot loader. In order to put a custom ROM on, you need to flash a 2nd boot loader and TWRP. All this is covered in great detail on here. If you have questions do ask.
