Moving to Q&A
All of us have issues with our devices from time to time, and we all need some help with it. There is no need to come down on any user because they borked their $300+ device. If you can't give any advice to help resolve the users question, please move on to another post that you can contribute to.
I don't have the answer to your issue, but I might suggest using the search function, and read like crazy. You will most likely find your answer(if someone doesnt post it here first )

Soft fix for custom boot logo.

This is a guide for a soft fix for the custom padlock bootlogo.
ITS NOT GOING TO MESS ANYTHING UP. Basically your just using tibu to “backup" I repeat backup NOT DELETE.The com. Etc files should be like 16-17 files. (pictures attached)
After you back them up you'll want to restore them and tibu will ask what would you like to restore? And just click “data only."
After you restored them restart your device and it should show the official Samsung galaxy s4 logo not the custom Samsung logo.
It has been confirmed to work on hard reboots. Soft reboots it will still show for some reason.
Also another guide to fix the custom lock logo. http://androidtechy.com/index.php/2013-04-28-19-55-53/how-to-diy/48

I need someone with a custom Samsung boot logo and either safestrap or on a ROM to try this. It works for me and I get the official Samsung galaxy s4 logo back after I get the Samsung custom lock logo. I just want to see if it works for anyone else or is it just me? I've tried it on two different gs4's already. ITS NOT GOING TO MESS ANYTHING UP. Basically your just using tibu to “backup" I repeat backup NOT DELETE. The com. Etc files should be like 16-17 files. I just don't know which one fixes it back to normal I just usually restore all 17 of them.

I just restored all of them as well and I don't see the Custom logo on a hard reboot. On a soft reboot I still see it.

Hmm strange. I'll look into that. I just want to help people who messes up their device and has a custom boot logo on it and can't take it to att or best buy because their device says custom on it. But normally a lot of people would do hard reboots. You think I should make this into a guide?

Removing the Custom logo for the purpose of taking it to a retailer is realistically the only 'need' for removing it. It wouldn't hurt to make a simple guide that properly demonstrates it. I am seeing more and more people ask about removing it.
I to would like to EASILY fix the Custom logo at boot screen.
Thanks

I Hardbricked my i9500 :(

Hello XDA,
So yesterday i installed the pac-man ROM 4.4.2 on my Galaxy S4 (i9500) and all was going well. Then i tried installing Unicon ( a utility which manages your icon packs). I have installed this app on every android phone i have ever had and every time it asks me to go into xposed and enable it like it usually does.
So i go into xposed and i click on install/update. It shows a dialog saying that (some file name i don't remember) is already there and continue if you are feeling adventurous. Being the stupid person I am i continued.
After switching off the device, the screen is absolutely black and does not even go to download mode or recovery mode.
Please help me I'm almost crying as the warranty just ran out and it wont get replaced or anything. I don't even have the money to buy a new phone right now.
Please tell me what to do to fix this i don't care about the data or anything i just want my phone to be fixed please help me..........:crying:

Not an expert but try to buy an USB JIG that force your phone into download mode. At that point, you can flash a recovery or a rom directly via odin. :good:
Well, it has nothing to do with Xposed. You can almost impossible brick it that way.
Did you try a simple thing like taking the battery out?
Yes I tried removing everything I could including battery Sim card SD card. Still not working. some people have said that in hard brick their devices give out red led but my phone doesn't even do that. Its just like a brick. Somebody pls help me ;( my dad doesn't let me use the credit card online and I can't find the USB jig anywhere near me so I can't get it.

Your phone is not bricked. The way you descriped is almost impossible to brick it.
You got a faulty battery or a hardware failure.
Hi,
I and a friend had a similar issue to yours. Our S4 was very slow and we took out the battery, now it doesn't even show Samsung Splash Screen (same issue, different context). Unfortunately, JIG won't do the work there (I tried).
While my friend sent it to warranty I didn't have mine because it was bought in US and I'm from Brazil. It looks like a viable way of solving it is using a tool called JTAG, I'm waiting for a friend to bring to my town his JTAG to see if it works, I'll report here the results, I recommend you searching for it .

You sure you'll look for the JTAG device? The Jtag box cost around $210.

Hi,
JIG will only work
if you can get at least in Splash Screen, if it doesn't give any life signal, then I get that you can't get into Splash Screen, therefore, JIG won't do the work.
Here's a video showing exactly the same problem I had and a JTAG repair

Hi,
There are people who can do the JTAG work, they charge some money but fix it. Even though it is way cheaper than getting a JTAG interface . Buying a device would be way more expensive, and I think it wouldn't be really worth, like you mentioned .

Guys, I like the talk about JTAG, but I don't think it will do him any good.
His device is not bricked. Xposed only installs in /system/bin (if I am not mistaken). Thus it's impossible to brick it that way. It does nothing to the bootloader, download mode or any other partition.
He has clearly a faulty battery or an other hardware failure. He just had bad luck imo.
Are you sure about that? I'll try changing the battery.... But as I said I can't enter download mode or recovery ,both are symptoms of a hard brick....
And any idea where I can find a person with JTAG in Gurgaon(India)?

Locking bootloader question

I have unlock and rooted my phone at one point and returned everything to stock image two years ago. Recovery is the android recovery. The Nexus 6p had multiple OTA upgrades from Android 7 to 8.1.0 . Do I need to flash the factory image or can I just lock my bootloader via fastboot ?
I'm going to sell the phone and I was thinking of locking the bootloader before sending it out.

You can lock the bootloader since you're using the stock rom. Please be sure to remove your email accounts from the phone prior to selling the device.
Factory Reset Protection will prevent any new buyers from using the device without inputting your email and password credentials to first sign into the device.
