okay, due to the overwhelming support and wanting for Android Revolution, i have talked to the Dev of it. Basically, he agreed to even MAKE it for us! but the only thing is, he doesnt have a desire z, and he suggested that (please dont flame or anything) maybe the community could get some money together, or someone send him a desire Z?

If you are going to have time to upkeep two ports and your other one is pretty good (other people who have tried it will have to chime in) then I say you go ahead and port it. If you feel you don't have enough time/knowledge/resources etc then we might have to get him a DZ.

Just looked at the thread in the Desire HD thread and I want that! I love how you can get the sense version or the bare bones version without sense. It says you can even put on the Sense 3.0 lock screen on the non sense version. Thats a done deal for me. The only reason I use sense is for the cool lock screen.

From what I've seen in other forums when this situation arises. The first thing you need to do is put the feelers out and get an idea of how much people would be willing to doante.
Obviously people are not going to donate if there is not enough interest. So initially you need people to let you know how much they are willing to donate, then keep a running total in the first post.
When there is enough intrest and you are getting close to figure required. (I have just purchased a DZ sim free and network unlocked for £290). You need ask people that agreed to donate to come up with the money. Most developers have a paypal donation email.
I'm not sure if it would be best to donate directly to mike1986 or to a third party who would the buy and ship to mike1986. Best bet is to ask him how he would like to do it.
Pop a link in your op to the android revoloution thread. Some. People here are lazy and will read you post shrug there shoulders and move on. If this is going to happen you need to create as much intrest as possible.
Personaly I would be willing to donate £5, we need at least 60 people to donate them same if we want to hit the target.

This is what gets me....hell Domains are CHEAP, hosting is CHEAP. As many hits as you don't get a day, you could probably run a site for less than $50 a year.

As a Vibrant owner for a while now and a loyal follower of all you superior devs here (following Eugene back since we both owned a Behold II), I now have a Dell Streak 7. I got it cause I am about to deploy and I can use it over wifi to video chat with the wife back home. Well.....
There are zero devs over in the Streak 7 forums. It is a badass device with a dual core processor, but it is running 2.2 and it doesnt support itand is clocked at 800. I have mine rooted and clocked at 1000 with the new update of SetCPU. There is no recovery that I can find and CWM does not support it yet. There are zero roms, and I am savvy, but a novice at dev'ing to say the least, not to mention that in the Army about to deploy for a year, I have no time. They are however collecting a bounty together to buy a free Dell Streak 7 for a dev that is willing to work with it. If you could help us Streak owners out, just shoot me a PM on here. It would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how hiring developers will work out, seeing that if the developers don't like/own the device, it will really become a JOB to them(beside their real jobs) as compared to a hobby. And things COULD get messy when money and expectations are involved. (You know, how much are you gonna pay a developer to justify his/her time spent on working it and how great the ROM has to be for you guys to feel that your money is well-spent?)
Anyway, it's better to go for the more popular devices if you want to run custom ROMs. So you need to do a little research before buying it.
If video calling is your only concern, just buy a front-facing camera for your Vibrant online and install it yourself. It only costs about 30-40 bucks and it's really easy. Look up the video guides online.

Im not trying to hire devs...i know how hard they work and most of the time, the most they get is a thanks, but mostly just people telling them how much their kernel or rom sucks, when they know they couldnt make it themselves. It would be much different if it was the manufacturer that released crap, then you could complain because you paid for it. But these guys do it for free with hopes of donations, and I appreciate that.
Now as far as the FFC...i could have done that, however, my wife would have lost her mind with me doing that thinking I would f*ck something up...its hard enough with me flashing roms without her flipping out thinking im gonna brick my phone. Plus she wanted me to have a new toy before I deployed...
Hope that answered some of the questions that you guys had...let me know if you have more.

Nevermind...i was asking devs to help out, not argue. I got better things to do, like train all my Soldiers for this deployment so that they come home safe to their families. Its not just gonna be me deploying. Mothers and Fathers have entrusted me with their children's lives to make sure they come back safe. That is way more reason for me not to pick an internet argument.
Thanks all you supporters....just wish there was a way to get a dev on this at least to get a stable recovery on it. If I had recovery and a stock rom to flash back to, I would start deving myself.

Well guys, wish me luck. Im gonna port my new clockwork recovery image for my dell streak 7, as soon as I dump my image from my device since its not supported yet and no one is deving this yet. Im following the instructions koushik dutta left on his website and I am a somewhat advanced linux user, so I think I can get it. And pointers on this, please let me know.
Also, all you devs out there that would assist me, I would appreciate it. If I get this right without bricking my streak, I will be asking gor help on kernel and rom deving. I know none of you have it, but if you have tips and good places for me to read up on, I would appreciate it. Although you have good intentions, this topic is pretty meaningless and does not belong in the development section. This section is for posting dev projects/reference like builds/roms/kernels/tuts etc.
All the latest info goes into the actual HC dev topics that exists, what point would be in putting them here?
If you want to donate, donate.
Spacemoose1 is already doing his\her best to create a good working port and Dip7 (as much as I know) is not working on HC right now. So I doubt that your offer will change anything in HC development.
Spacemoose already has a new Tab on the way to his home, so I doubt he would need another one to continue working on his HC port.
But he is a fan of donations, so if anyone wants to donate, go to his thread and toss him some pizza & beer money

Like I understand it spacemoose1 has both a cdma and a gsm tablet on the way, but it sort of makes sense for this guy to send him a 1010 wifi only tab, I've heard that hardware is somewhat different. So if there's very little development done on 1010 then it's understandable that he wants to make sure something gets done.

Dude, there isnt even a custom froyo rom for the 1010 so what makes you think this topic is going magically make a HC appear?
It is a good idea though for the OP to send spacemoose a 1010 and when another build is created it can be tweaked and tested on it.
Its the biggest problem that there is nothing, and my coding is so fecken rusty acid would not help otherwise would start it myself...... Can't wait for sammy to do it hell it will be the next rapture event by the time they get there job done but by then..... Well it will be the rapture so that means everyone using windows phone i guess >:~}

Its why I created the thread in the hopes that Space or others would be interested in starting this then I would have no probs in sending them a dev tab to play with and when they are done send them a brand new one also!!
Like I said I have shipped lots of these devices to UK and Ireland and would love to be able to say to clients its actually going to happen and some time soon??? but hehe knowing my luck a few good devs start it get it done then in the same week sammy then release the offical rom

Not that I entirely disagree people shouldn't ask to much of devs, but that statement doesn't work
a mechanic would do work on your car, and it would only be your car. A dev makes something once and everyone can use it. Surely you see a difference?
If you went to a mechanic and asked him to figure out how to make all of a certain model of car have 800HP, and he had the same model car, its a but of a different situation.
That said, whatever devs dev I'm happy with, just felt the need to point out the mechanic analogy doesn't suit this.

guys.. my comment about sprint root was a joke to see how much interest there was in the root and see what kinda reactions there'd be.
BUT.. some of the guys working on this need g3 devices... for root.. for unlock... for future exploits down the road...
root for any unrooted G3's will come.. I can promise that. But.. it will most likely not be an update to ioroot specifically.. and I may not be the one to post...
SO..
the couple users who did donate for a future Sprint G3 root.. I will be refunding. But I do thank you for your enthusiasm. hold onto it and use it when root IS posted to ensure the G3 continues to see great work(moar r00t? moar unlox? moar hax? r0mz.. zzz). there is a great group of ppl poking at this.. but as i mentioned.. we all dont have G3's.. and some will have to buy out of pocket.. just for the sake of hacking and contributing to community. I think I've slept a total of 8 hrs the past 3 days(not complaining!).. trust me.. this is being looked at and worked on.
keep your eyes on our twitters... @ tylerfixer (iomonster/thecubed/insertnamehere) .. @ teamandirc (jcase) .. i dont think shelnutt2 or beaups use twitter.. and me @ utoprime
keep the assumptions to a minimum.. and please be patient(no not "months" patient)..
and who knows.. maybe someone new will step up and surprise us all.

That sucks I did see root access was working on an USA G3 but they did not tweet which variant.

T-Mobile didn't lock the bootloader, though. Shouldn't it be easy to install a custom recovery and root?

My only complaint with the device is no root for my Sprint model, and I think that's a good complaint to have because eventually it will come. Loving everything else, sans the aux cable issue.

I'm at work now, so I can't do anything useful for G3, just facilitating some stuff on IRC, and making stupid comments here on XDA
When I get home, I'm going to see if we can hit the SPR G3 hard.
After that, it's full steam ahead for unlocks. We've got a few ideas in mind, Shelnutt2 is getting his IDA disassembly refined so we can pick it to pieces. We might even be blessed with some help from toastcfh and beaups in the IDA department too!
We're definitely not going slow on this one, we're just gathering the troops!

Where's the best place to send donations? Monetary, no strings attached, so you guys can get whatever you need. I'm sick of bounties, I'd rather donate to make progress happen rather than after the fact.

Right now jcase needs some $$ to pick up a Sprint device - and I think he'd appreciate a few dollars towards a device. When we get an unlock together, I'll probably make a post and set up something so we can split the donations to everyone that contributed, so as to be fair.

Thank you for the consideration, I can actually afford the phone and I don't like taking donations for things before I have published. I just need to find a reasonable priced phone for sale.

UGH when are we getting root? When are we getting unlocked bootloader? Come on, where are the ROMs people??
Kidding. I don't even have my device yet. I'll start the real complaining once I get it
Anyways, thanks for this thread, seems there's still a lot of confusion regarding bootloader/root for the different device variants.
Fair enough. My donation is with no strings attached. If you would prefer I wait until release, that's fine - or if there is another team member who needs a device, please let me know and I will send it there.
