I was running Ti Backup and had a number of apps frozen on my rooted phone before I ran the OTA GB update. Now the apps appear to still be frozen and missing from the app drawer, and Ti Backup doesn't work because I've lost root. What do I need to do, and have I possibly messed anything up because necessary apps were frozen during the update?

I have been on stock un-rooted rom until just a few minutes ago. I used the idiots guide, backed up my apps with titanium donated version, and installed damagecontrol 3.1.2 with full nand unclock.
Anyways, installed titanium again on the new rom, updated busybox just to be sure, and went to do a bath restore of all missing apps + data. It shows 31 apps, i start the restore and it cycles through to 100% and then says complete.
well, I go into app drawer and none of those apps are there. I tried to reboot just to make sure, still nothing..
Any ideas of why they wont restore?
Did you reboot after the titanium restore? Some of my data didn't show up until after I rebooted.
Yes I rebooted several times. I even did another wipe with new Rom install just to be sure. Still didn't work. Installed apps manually and tried to restore app data and even that didn't work
I have a question about flashing the leaked rooted GB to my DX. My phone is already rooted using z4root. I have titanium backup. If I wipe data and flash the new GB, when I use titanium backup to restore my apps, does this also restore my settings and basically bring my phone back to what it was before the update just now with the updated GB ROM. I have been scared to do this because I was scared I would have to start over with alot of the settings and custom boot animations, boot logo, etc that I have put on there.
I'm by no means an expert. But I read elsewhere here at XDA that using your Titanium Backup system files from Froyo doesn't work well on GB.
When I went to GB the other day I used Titanium to restore all my apps and data, but the only system data I restored was bluetooth pairings. I didn't want to restore anything else for fear of messing something up. Yeah, it's a pain to get your settings back, but GB looks different enough that I didn't mind having to poke around here and there to set the phone back up. I was more concerned with the apps/data than I was with any system settings.
So I got mom and myself a Fire for Christmas, and I'm debating the effort involved with supporting Google Currents and Gmail on them both. Mainly what I'm worried about is how much maintenance I may have to do afterwards if I root, install the Google apps then unroot
I'm not a newb, but might be a novice still, I did root and re-rom my Galaxy Tab but that was nearly a year ago now, since then I haven't done anything other than use it and I'm hoping for a similar ability to just USE the Fire rather than tinker with it.
From others reporting, it sounds like there might be issues with updates from Amazon causing problems with software installed this way? Has anyone gone through an update cycle with this setup and had any problems getting back into Currents or Gmail?
We have seen that the OTA update does remove root. It is easy to reroot using SuperOneClick and takes less than 15 seconds since you already had it configured on your PC when you initially rooted.
Other than Market, No other apps were affected and I also still had the changes to build.prop. Apps that were manually installed into System/App may need to be reinstalled (like Market). You may want to install OTA RootKeeper apk in order to easily unroot to use Amazon VOD and reapply root when you need it. Using Titanium Backup, you can backup all your apps and restore in the event there is an OTA update which affects the Market. I used Titanium Backup to restore Market. Another handy apk is AppSaver.
I would root it, install what you want, then use otarootkeeper, which is in the Google market, and do a temporary unrest. That way she can not mess anything up. If you need to make changes that require root, it is as simple as clicking restore root in rootkeeper, and your back in business.

So apparently i just noticed that if you deleted apps from /system/apps, you can't update unless you had all the apps you deleted/moved in it.
I... screwed up. i deleted amazon apps since it's basically eating space without any use, so the thing is, can i get any backup?
There's no Verizon Kiosk or any Service Centers here in indonesia.
Just use this guide to update to KK. With it, there's no need to restore apps or update via OTA .

I have a rooted G2 on VZW and would really prefer they leave it alone. No custom recovery so I don't have /system access to add/remove/del apps. Is there another way to block this update?
Sorry, apparently this is a minor update, not Lollipop yet. Still interested in blocking all updates because the phone is just fine as is. Is it best to just install twrp or cwm and remove the update apps?
Use Titanium Backup to freeze 'system updates MUC'.
Do you have to leave Titanium Backup installed or can you freeze and then remove the app?

Good question. I don't know the inner workings of the freeze option and couldn't say for sure. You could straight up force remove the updater app also. I just recommended freeze in case you ever changed your mind and wanted to attempt an update for some reason.
