[Q] magldr+wm7 reflashed to wm6.5 but internal memory reduced - HD2 General

Hi,
I've posted this in general because it covers multiple os's/tools.
Original phone wm6.5
Installed magldr 1.13
Then flashed android used for a month or so... Nice...
Then flashed Windows mobile 7... Nice to but shame about sync...
Decided I need the reliability of wm6.5 and android available on SD card to bot if needed.
So downloaded stock o2 rom reflashed to wm6.5 seems to have got rid of magldr and wm7 for ROM but I'm getting less but my internal memeory for programs seems low.
I'm getting on avaerage 18-30mb of free program memory and now have the occasional out of memory error.
Could it be that some things have not been removed when I reflashed or is that not possible?

You mean the RAM or the ROM?
If it's the RAM then you probably have to flash a radio that enables 576 of RAM.
If it is an Internal Memory issue, You need to remove some apps (?).
Im not sure, report back.

I mean ram and now you say it I did flash HSPL to 2.08 if thats right?

That's correct, but is your radio 2.15.50?

If the rom is 3.14 and the spl ISN'T 3.03.xxxx then ram will drop to 200something total, with 50 or so free, and the phone will be unstable.
If it is 3.14 rom, then use Hspl4 and choose 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl and it will fix it, or re flash the 3.14 but using SD card so that it updates spl to 3.03.0000

Just so you can tell me I'm not going crazy about the space. I have recorded some screen shots. I'm also getting programs that should be running in the back ground like pocket shield stopping running.
What does the memory screen say to you?

Did you read my post? Your two bootloader pics show NON 3.03 spls and the rom info shows a 3.14 rom,,,so,I repeat, you cannot ....CANNOT.... run a 3.14 rom on any spl/hspl EXCEPT. 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl, because if you do your memory drops to 200.
(This is not true for tmous phones, only regular)

Yes I did read your post. Just wanted more conformation before I started doing thing to it again. Thanks very much for your help I will redo to the spec you have provided and get back to you in the next couple of days with the results.
Thanks.

Does this mean I'll be unable to launch Android from SD card.
Does Android not need 2.08 to work?

Only nand android and magldr need 2.08.hspl

This fixed my problem, thanks very much.

[Q] How to backup my current state (ROM)

Hello,
Wonder if you could help me with this:
I have a brand new stock LEO (512mb version). I would like to flash to WP7, but I would like to have the option to revert to exactly the same state as now (for warrenty).
My rom is a custom Orange Israel ROM, which I doubth will be available for downloading, so is there a way to back it up now so I could reflash it later?
Is there something like NANDROID for leo?
Also, what does this says to you:
"boots WPH from nand"?
Does WPH means windows phone? does NAND means that backup solution for android? what does it have to do with booting?
Thanks
1) You cannot dump your original ROM as backup
2) Please check here if you find your original ROM: Click!
(Since you didn´t mention the version, I couldn´t check)
3) Ask Orange if there is a download link for your ROM
4) Yes, there are Android NAND ROMs for HD2, check the HD2 Android section
5) WPH most probably means Windows Phone 7, another option for HD2
6) NAND means the internal flash memory of your device, where your ROM is stored.
After first and secondary bootloaders, this is where the phone loads the operating system. In a broad view, comparable to the BIOS of a PC (bootloader) and the internal harddisk (NAND) where the OS (and much more) is stored.
Hi thanks alot for your answer, but I'm still confused.
As I Understand, MAGLDR is something that lets me load an OS from SD, instead of from the actual, phisical ROM. right?
In tutorials that I have read, it says that MAGLDR is a requirement for the WP7 port. So it means that the WP7 OS is loaded from SD?
How does it sattles with the following thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966435
(in which someone asks if WP7 can be ran from SD and is answered negatively)
Thanks is advance

MAGLDR actually makes your HD2 capable of running WP7 or Android from the NAND memory instead of WinMo 6.5 - and an optional operating system from SD memory.
Considering it this way, you were right, except you mixed up SD card and NAND.
Some people want to run 2 operating systems on their HD2 - MAGLDR makes this possible because you can select to run from NAND or SD.
But, the only OS for HD2 which runs from SD (as of today) is Android - means, WP7 and WinMo 6.5 only run from NAND.
(And you cannot put 2 OS´s into NAND).
Ohhhh NAND != SD
So if WP7 is not SD yet, the current port make it run from NAND. Why then is MAGLDR a requirement for WP7? can't I just flash it the good old fashion way?
And on a completely different subject:
I understand I need HSPL 2.08 for the WP7 port.
In the thread , the latest version is 4, but it says "*Includes 2.08 OSPL, 2.08 HSPL, 3.03 OSPL, 3.03 HSPL.
You can install any of this"
So should I download ver 2 or 4?
Again thanks alot, you are really helpful.
MAGLDR actually loads after SPL, but it is needed to load another operating system than the native Windows Mobile 6.5.
For MAGLDR, you must have HSPL 2.08.
Virtually all custom ROMs with WinMo 6.5 are also compatible with 2.08.HSPL.
In case your stock ROM (usually version 3.xx) comes with SPL 3.03, you could easily flash back to this with HSPL4.exe - in case your stock ROM has a version number 1.xx, you might use HSPL2.exe (which offers OSPL and HSPL in 1.42, 1.66 and 2.08 versions).
Btw, "OSPL" means "original SPL".
I'm currently running OSPL 1.42, So according to your instructions, I will use HSPL2.exe to install 2.08.
Thank you, ++ to your thanks meter

[Q] Need Help to Install WM7 On Htc HD2

I Have HTC HD2 From a Provider Telstra, The Radio version is 2.07, and SPL version is SPL-1.66 XE. I have tried to install WM7 by all the ROM available but still i cannot get it up and running. Can any body please help me out for installing the latest version and also SPL which are recommended.
Hi. since this is your first post, i assume you're quite new to the world of flashing ROM's. Recommend you get yourself familiarised with:
1) HSPL - which version to use...
2) Radio - Which radio enables 576mb
Flashing can be fun, but if done recklessly, can be lethal to the device as well.
All ROM's posted have the requirements stated clearly. Do not attempt to flash any ROM without checking that your device suits the requirement first.
You can go back to WM6.5 ROM Development to read more on HSPL and Radio Versions.
follow these steps..they are for your device only:
step1. you need to flash hspl first
step2. you need to flash radio higher than 2.08.50... preferably 2.12 or 2.15
step3. flash magldr 1.13 (magldr replaces wm 6.5..)
step4. flash wp7 or android nand rom
but before all this....step 0. read , read, read all tutorials..radio thread, hspl thread, magldr thread, wp7 install threads
i have problem whit sd card after install wm7 hd2 goes to restart few times is problem whit sd card or must i do
1 particion fat 32
2 make ext ....etc second particion like on nand
ihave hspl

you need a better sd card.. try a sandisk 8gb/16gb card
yes i wos thinking is the problem whit sd card i have kingston 8 gb class 6 4 gb kinsston class4
2 gb kingston and no one work whit wm 7
every card is different so dont listen and buy a card that someone recomends and assume it will work!
however statistically you will have a better chance of getting a sandisk class 2 or 4 card working. however thats not to say it will work for you, but there is a better chance getting one of those to work.

Are you putting the Android folder in the root of the sd card? How much time are you Waiting ..first boot should take 5 or 6 minutes at least ..try another sd card too ..

Yes Sir I am running the clrcad.exe first and then The Haret file plus Im waiting almost 2hours each time =/
format sd
put the folder 'Android'- not only its content but the folder itself to sd
clrcad
haret.
if it doesnt boot then hard reset phone and then do all the steps above again
Also,, regular hd2 or tmous? (I ask because 3.14 rom and 2.08.hspl on a regular don't mix, messes with the ram).
Also, for SD android the hspl and radio rules don't matter in the way they do for nand android.
As an aside, I only once got any haret based rom to load in a dozen or so attempts, and it immediately prevented the winmo rom from starting, forcing a hard reset.

Regular, not the tmous... So it is indeed not rare for the haret based rom not to load up in the first or even second attempt ? And will a hard reset really help ? I'll try hard resetting and then repeating the process

Not to cause confusion, but I've found this to be completely untrue. I was running a 3.14 ROM with HSPL 2.08 and Haret for ages, before deciding to give up on WinMo altogether and go to NAND. Everything worked fine.
@OP, have you tried different SD cards?
hey it worked... A simple change of a sd card worked... Tried two others, worked with the third one
thanks all you guys
Can a 3.14 stock TMOUS with 2.15 radio have a dual boot nand android?
No, if winmo is installed nothing else can be on the nand
Then, if I want to dual boot an android SD types are my only choice? I read a thread here stating that NAND is "hands down" better than SD types. If so, then could I still play games in an android SD build as fast as I could in a NAND build?
I recently bumped into this new android version rom
http://hd2apps.blogspot.com/2011/04/htc-hd2-apps-android-cm7-233.html
Like what I've said earlier, my TMOUS is a stock ver. 3.14 with radio ver. 2.15. The post in that blog says that that rom will work on a 2.08 or higher radio, but it stated that 2.12 is recommended, and and hspl 4.
Can I just install the hspl and leave the radio as is?
Bumping thread ^_^
In the Americandroid thread there's a video tut for installing and making the americandroid rom work. At the end of the video the specs of the phone used were posted, it was a 3.14 with a 2.15 radio so that answers my question, but now I have another. The video didn't make it clear whether the 3.14 rom he used was a stock or not, so my question is, can I have an SD android rom on a stock TMOUS winmo rom? Or do I really have to flash a cooked rom?
stock winmo rom is fine
Wow, thanks for the reply. I've been waiting for one in ages ^_^
Well, I tried. Funny thing though... first of, my sim was recognized but I can't seem to see any of my contacts. When I go to "my contacts" it says that I have to import it through accounts or something, but I can't find it anywhere. It says that I have to go to some menu and click on account and import.
Another thing is, when I restarted my phone to use winmo again, most of the programs I installed didn't work anymore like dutty's task manager and the resco file manager to name a few.
Any thoughts on this? I was thinking it was because of the stock rom I have. BTW, I don't have HSPL from what I remember. Just SPL.
Mate you better flash HSPL right now as it will save you from future headaches
yea hspl will save you from plenty of issues down the road
Thanks for the reps guys. I'll post the outcome of this.. thanks again ^_^
Oh, one more question. Does this apply to all SD android roms, or just the one I posted?
Ok, here's the outcome. I tried installing HSPL 2.08 as per instructions of almost all of the sd android rom builds I've seen. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
After installing HSPL 2.08, I noticed a big difference in my winmo. I hardly get any bars in my signal bar, hence, I can't text, I can't call and can't be contacted.
So I went back and installed SPL 3.03.
BTW, I have an unlocked TMOUS with stock 3.14 rom and radio 2.15, and now have SPL 3.03.
I would like to keep my stock 3.14 rom (or, if a cooked rom is needed I would like a closest to stock 3.14 cooked rom) and run an SD android rom. How do I do that? Is there an SD android rom out there that fits my needs?
Thanks for the help again.

[q] {q} rom help

Not sure if this is the right topic.
I tryd to install wp7 today to my HD 2 and it didnt work so i just downgrade it to another rom and now it says that i dont have any space in my internel memory how can i fix this and where can i get an decent rom that is android compatible
need a heap more info than that. a step by step, complete with full filenames and versions please, and an idea what your aim is,. For instance, you say 'a rom that is android compatible', does that mean you wanna used sd card android and keep winmo on too?
yes i want that
.
but my other problem is that my internal storage is critical low when i run WM 6.5.
i got SPL 2.08 on it and the newest rom from Vodafone (netherlands).
i only have a total of 68mb storage and 200mb total storage for programs
Can't run 3.14 roms on 2.x spl without memory issues. Don't need spl 2.08 to run SD android.
Try a task29 and then reflash.

How to unpartition?

Hi All,
After a few failed attempts at nand rom's I have put the tmob wm rom back on my phone.
I partitioned 400mb of the memory when trying to flash the CWM android rom.
I assumed when I installed the original rom back on the phone everything would go back to normal, but it has not. I now only have 400mb of ram not 512. Now sense is playing up & I can only run 1 application at a time.
I have tried to find an answer but cannot, how can I remove this partition before reinstalling the tmob rom?
thanks for your help.
CJ
i think you should task29....
Just looked up Task29, just what I was looking for.
BIG THANKS!
CJ
First thing to mention,,,, there are no 512 ram hd2. Regular is 448 meg ram, tmous is 576 Meg ram.
Next, "sense is playing up...",,,, a 3.14 rom on a regular hd2 without spl 3.03 runs like crap.
If its a reg hd2, and you DO have a 3.14 rom, look in bootloader. If spl doesn't say 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl then that's the problem.

Just brought up the multi colour screen (I'm sure it has a name, but I am a bit of a caveman, sorry) It says SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
from what you said I need to update this??
Thanks in advance...
you already PM'd me to say it worked, so heres a little thread closure.
'changing to spl 3.03 fixed it.'
