ATT Galaxy S 2 to have keyboard...named Attain. - Vibrant General

http://phandroid.com/2011/07/26/samsungs-galaxy-s-ii-will-have-slide-out-qwerty-pictures-inside/
I am actually interested in this because I've been looking for a QWERTY phone and myself having ATT this looks like a great investment...thoughts?

I wish the hercules came with keyboard

QWERTY boards suck ass.

I think it looks good. I miss having a hard keyboard, ever since my touchpro 2. And as long as its not a brick like the epic, I would grab one.

Addition of a keyboard will hurt the sales of this phone UNLESS they also offer a non-keyboard version.

If its tegra 2 I'm straight cuz its just another generic android phone with official TW4 an keyboards can suck it
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App

I like the physical keyboard and also miss the one from my touchpro 2. That said I won't switch to AT&T to get one and if they absorb T-Mobile I'll be leaving... I can swype just about as fast as I can thumb type anyway

I say ATT can suck it, and why does a device that big have a keyboard.
Listen. I was a sidekick freak..
I had Sidekick 1, 2, 3, Slide, LX, and then finally I went into the T-Mo store last June and said hey my sidekick is brokens! is there a new one out?
Well, lets just say they discontinued them back then haha, and well I waited 2 weeks for the Galaxy S and now i'm enjoying NOT having a keyboard for over a year.

I'm pretty sure most of you guys don't want a keyboard because you're used to a slim light phone.
I personally don't care as long as it is good quality and feels nice. Yea ATT sucks but I have it and have to live with it.
So yea..

Talk for yourself, I actually like physical keyboards.
G1 keyboard was the best, but swype is great alternative.

Yea, I am impartial towards keyboard. Grew up with as I went through my smartphones (BJ, 2x BJ2, Propel Pro, G1), so I can't really say I hate them but I do like the size of slimmed down phones with no KB.
Also, the Attain might be different in coding. IIRC, the Epic (the keyboard version of SGS) was the most different in coding and couldn't port of froyo because of hardware differences?

I wish tmo was getting a gs2 version.. Im feeling a little jealous.. . Lol
Any rumored superphones coming to tmo besides the gigantic Hercules?
Oh tmo...

Why does the Vibrant lag so much?

Just wanted to know what the REAL reason is for the Vibrants Lag is? software or hardware. running test like CPU Benchmark,Quadrant Standard or Linpack. Seems to run a lot slower then almost all phones. like the G2 or the Mytouch 4G. Just to name a few. Thought The Cortex-A8 Hummingbird CPU was going to make the Vibrant super fast but that does not seem to be the case! I love my Vibrant and games run awesome on it for the most part but it sure lags up a lot! Rooted stock ROM with the T959UVJI6 Update. and using Launcher Pro Plus. Still love my Vibrant but would like to know why so slow on test and why so much Lag?
And I know there is a Lag fix but seem to be issues with that too. Thanks a million
You're comparing Eclair to Froyo and, in the G2's case, vanilla Android. Try running one of the Froyo builds and see if you have any lag. I'm running the Obsidian Froyo based on the T-Mo leak and have run Eugene's and both run with zero lag.
he's just a troll. everyone who used both knows full well that the Vibrant is way faster.
Not a freaking troll! Lol just wanted to know. Thats all no bigs. I love my Vibrant and not dissing it at all.was just asking a question since this the Vibrant Forum and all!

Also, the G2 keyboard is a sad shadow of the Cliq keyboard.

Do you think the devs will be able to bring some of these features to the vibrant/I9000?
Looks like its using the accelerometer. It could happen if we have a touchwiz 4 port.

I too used to only go for qwerty keyboards, but since having this mt4g i have came to appreciate smart keyboard pro. It's very accurate and well space on screen keyboard. I don't think theres too many other keyboards that could better the g1's 5 row. Bigger screens and there touch keyboards are the way to go.

same here, waiting for the quads to come out. the MT4G is already a beast and could hold me off another 2 years IF needed lol
Like everyone else, I'm waitin till quad cores, don't know what they'll come up with that requires that kind of power but still...
Exactly. The MT4G is not a G1, it handles everything flawlessly. Don't know why everyone wants to upgrade right away as each new phone comes out. If you have the cash to drop then by all means upgrade, nothing lags on the MT4G and I don't see anything really challenging the phone for another year and a half. So I'll be good.
im stuck in the fence between the MT4G Slide and the HTC Sensation, thing about the Slide is the fact that the HTC Sense 3.0 is like cut off from features found in the Sensation..moreover you only get 5 home-screens; but then i need a keyboard to text much faster... -__-
and the HTC Touch Pro 2 has the best physical keyboard...jus saying

If you need a keyboard then go with the Slide. I'm sure you can expand the home screen on the Slide to 7 just like the stock MT4G ROM. Once S is OFF on the slide then I'm sure you can install the stock Sense 3.0 on it once it has been ported.
Plus you get the bomb ass camera on the Slide.

I got two for free (not till release) so I suppose I'm gonna see what its all about. Right now I have a mt4g and love it so I may just sell it for a nice little profit. Wifey wants it though so I'll still have one around.

i'm so glad this thing won't have a keyboard... i'm annoyed with how thick the epic is at this point. my big concern right now is the whole CM7 thing... will sprint ask that this phones hardward is changed like the epic? it won't help us that sammy gave the CM team the source for the SGS2 if we don't have the same phone..
Why does AT&T get the keyboard variant of the S2 while Sprint (who has a "natural" daddy the Epic) get the keyboard-less version? Many people like the keyboard-less SII because of the thinness factor, but some of us who use our phone to type longer SMS/emails prefer a physical keyboard. In fact, that is what sold me on Epic vs the Evo. I hope Sammy has something in the works for those who want a physical keyboard - and it won't be a marginal upgrade.

Well my thinking is the only ones that will have a keyboard on Sprint is phones like the intercept. Don't get me wrong the intercept is ok for my son who isn't into tech stuff like me.
I started on the iPhone and att. The battery on the iPhone lasted a whole day for me and I never worried about FC on apps and modems. If the iPhone comes to Sprint I'm back to Apple. Otherwise, it's the epic touch.
I chose the epic over the evo because of the specs and screen. The hardware keyboard did not matter to me. If I knew the support with the epic was going to be like this I would have went with the evo! My wife has the evo and cyanogenmod and miui have been amazing!

Yet another waiting thread....

While I love my hardware keyboard and dont think I could live without it, I got my gf a galaxy s 3 for an early valentines day present. The phone is pretty sweet, love its snappiness and screen size... dont love the swype or software keyboard. Im also a fan of sense... Playing with it, rooting it and working with the custom rom just makes me want a new phone lol. I played with a photon q in a store.... but idk, theres not much in the way of roms and whatnot here, and im not sold on motorola. So to google I went, I found a concept phone called the htc one z. Basically a one with a keyboard, its sweet and aparently alot of ppl want it made, but this information is over a year old again. What are some of youse doing for new phones when and if the time will come? I thought about an evo lte... but.. again.. i want a keyboard lol.

This is the firs I've heard of the One Z. I'll have to google that. For now while my shift is down Im using a DX2 tethered to my shift for data. I can still use the bluetooth headset for calls. I was considering the Photon Q myself but between Vicodan's report and how tight Moto is with their bootloader, I doubt I'll do that. If I have to go virtual keyboard, EVO LTE will likely be what I'll do.

a sense rom would be pretty cool, just make sure to try for 3.6+ lol, and the one z is basicaly a HTC One, or EVO LTE with a keyboard. Its not a phone that was ever released however. I might plunge for a evo lte... i just dont like the photon q enough to keep the keyboard, and theres not much development going on with it to keep me entertained. I have until July for an upgrade now. So i have time to wait for something, I was hoping xmas would give sprint another android phone, but HTC hasnt released anything in a while, aside the butterfly which i dont think is coming state side. nor has sprint in general actually.
