dunno. My wife has a G2 and i use the on screen keyboard way more then i use the Physical Keyboard. i guess it depends on the person.

G2 keyboard is not so great. But in pictures the slide keyboard looks much better but I still think the g1 keyboard will trump it.

I too used to only go for qwerty keyboards, but since having this mt4g i have came to appreciate smart keyboard pro. It's very accurate and well space on screen keyboard. I don't think theres too many other keyboards that could better the g1's 5 row. Bigger screens and there touch keyboards are the way to go.

I would... But the size of the phone looks like it's doubled and I'd much rather carry a phone just like it without all the extra weight... Which is why I want a Sensation.

same here, waiting for the quads to come out. the MT4G is already a beast and could hold me off another 2 years IF needed lol

Like everyone else, I'm waitin till quad cores, don't know what they'll come up with that requires that kind of power but still...

Exactly. The MT4G is not a G1, it handles everything flawlessly. Don't know why everyone wants to upgrade right away as each new phone comes out. If you have the cash to drop then by all means upgrade, nothing lags on the MT4G and I don't see anything really challenging the phone for another year and a half. So I'll be good.

im stuck in the fence between the MT4G Slide and the HTC Sensation, thing about the Slide is the fact that the HTC Sense 3.0 is like cut off from features found in the Sensation..moreover you only get 5 home-screens; but then i need a keyboard to text much faster... -__-
and the HTC Touch Pro 2 has the best physical keyboard...jus saying

If you need a keyboard then go with the Slide. I'm sure you can expand the home screen on the Slide to 7 just like the stock MT4G ROM. Once S is OFF on the slide then I'm sure you can install the stock Sense 3.0 on it once it has been ported.
Plus you get the bomb ass camera on the Slide.

Great minds think alike. Ours do as well.

I got two for free (not till release) so I suppose I'm gonna see what its all about. Right now I have a mt4g and love it so I may just sell it for a nice little profit. Wifey wants it though so I'll still have one around.

and as far as ffc is concerend... the desire Z doesnt have one.... correct me if I'm wrong

FFC? Who cares? How many of your friends REALLY have a phone with an FFC? Okay, maybe all of one or two if one happens to have an Evo and another happens to have an iPhone 4. And you're really inclined to call either of these people versus texting them? Right. And since you're so inclined, now you really have to use up your strength to hold your phone a foot away from your body in order for the camera to get your whole face in the camera for the entire conversation?
If you answered yes to all these questions, you are in a very small, small minority.

And you are sending this retarded post from your Nexus One which has neither Sense nor a front facing camera. Personally, I don't need a ffc, I have an iPod Touch 4g if I ever really need to see the person on the other end. Don't need Sense either, already have Launcher Pro and Beautiful Widgets and Weather/Toggle Widget from the market. I can customize my G2 a different way for every day of the year. Sense sucks.

Holy Sh*t The HTC HERO 4G!!!

If you're like me and your first Android phone was the HTC HERO, then you gotta read this article. Talks about it's successor...
HTC HERO 4G (Kingdom)
I think I just found my next Droid!!!
Yeah, I saw Android Police post this on Google+ yesterday. I like the 4" display over 4.3"
Could very well be my next device.. Assuming nothing better comes out between now and February
Yes my first Android was the HERO. The new on looks great, but the no keyboard thing is an issue for me.
Think this could be my next device....

I'm liking this better than the 3D for sure if it does come with a 4" screen. I will have my Shift for two more years though... Maybe one if I like what's released next summer, though I will only be a 9 year vet of Sprint next summer so I would still have to pay more than I want. I don't see myself ever owning a device with a screen larger than 4" if I can help it.
Looks good, but no kb = not for me.
Keyboard doesn't really matter to me, the Shift was more about size. I think I could deal with a 4" screen

We can overclock our shifts to 1.2ghz and be fine lol.
It looks to me as there doing the same thing they did with the original hero.
Making it look great but the hardware is crap compared to the the other android devices

+1 too big a step unfortunantley. In the era of 2011 you can't have single core proccesors anymore lol. Only thing I could think to make up for it is if it was the new snapdragon Krait proccessors which are appearently 75% more battery effecient
Honestly, I could do with a bit less processing power if it got me a better battery life. To me, battery life is the biggest downfall of Android phones. I just got a 1900mAh battery (slim, no cover needed), we'll see if it makes much difference...fingers crossed.

I wouldn't call a 1.2gHz phone crap. It won't be as fast as a dual core, like the 3D, but it will be faster than the shift, and have a larger, higher resolution display, plus Sense 3.0 from the start (I'm assuming this last part, since the resolution is 960x580, or whatever the 3D is). Plus, more ram, and possibly more rom than the shift.
It's nice to see "mid-range" phones with some decent specs, and not really far off from the halo phones. Depending on when I make my next phone purchase, I may get the Galaxy S2. I would really like my next phone to have a Super AMOLED screen.

ATT Galaxy S 2 to have keyboard...named Attain.

I think it looks good. I miss having a hard keyboard, ever since my touchpro 2. And as long as its not a brick like the epic, I would grab one.
Addition of a keyboard will hurt the sales of this phone UNLESS they also offer a non-keyboard version.

Listen. I was a sidekick freak..
I had Sidekick 1, 2, 3, Slide, LX, and then finally I went into the T-Mo store last June and said hey my sidekick is brokens! is there a new one out?
Well, lets just say they discontinued them back then haha, and well I waited 2 weeks for the Galaxy S and now i'm enjoying NOT having a keyboard for over a year.
I'm pretty sure most of you guys don't want a keyboard because you're used to a slim light phone.
I personally don't care as long as it is good quality and feels nice. Yea ATT sucks but I have it and have to live with it.

Talk for yourself, I actually like physical keyboards.
G1 keyboard was the best, but swype is great alternative.
Yea, I am impartial towards keyboard. Grew up with as I went through my smartphones (BJ, 2x BJ2, Propel Pro, G1), so I can't really say I hate them but I do like the size of slimmed down phones with no KB.
Also, the Attain might be different in coding. IIRC, the Epic (the keyboard version of SGS) was the most different in coding and couldn't port of froyo because of hardware differences?
I wish tmo was getting a gs2 version.. Im feeling a little jealous.. . Lol
Any rumored superphones coming to tmo besides the gigantic Hercules?

Thinking of switching phones. Help with another option?

I love the My touch 4G to death, but my wife doesn't seem to like it much. So, I'm need to find something to replace hers. Her's is being used unlocked on AT&t. So, does anyone have any suggestions? On eBay I can sell it for $200-240 so, i'd like to sell it and buy a replacement. It needs to be GSM (AT&T or T-Mobile phones are fine), in my price range and have similar specs. I have really can't think of anything. She hates it so bad she's using her old Samsung Magnet until I find her something :/ lol

She can't make text messaging signature and it doesn't have a keyboard :/
I've already talked to her..... There is no reasoning.
I've never heard of a text messaging signature before.
Good to know about the other thing, though. So the only requirement is a hard keyboard?
Stick with the my touch..
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
For the text message signature she could try using Go SMS Pro in the market.
The only gsm android phone I can think of with a keyboard is the G2. I've used it in the past though and found it to be slightly slower than the MyTouch due to the smaller ram and lower processor speed. I agree that she should stick with the MyTouch.

If anything don't get the g2 I had it. It's slow as hell outside the stock Rom. Has a good build quality to it though.

if she wants to have a physical keyboard then your gonna have to switch phones, id say go for the mytouch 4g slide just cuz it would be a more familiar platform and cuz the g2 would be a downgrade in hardware
Hard to imagine not liking the phone over those two reasons. Swype is so much better and faster than conventional texting. And as for the signature, I'm not rooted and I use GO SMS. As already mentioned, it has the option to add a signature. Plus it's much better than the stock text. JMO. Each to their own I guess.
After a solid year with my MT4G (which I am still in love with...) I just bought the GSII
Have to say so far, this phone's bad ass.

Haha, thanks man appreciate that. I just wanted a change, and a slightly bigger screen.
And in anticipation of ICS, I figured a dual core processor like the Tegra2 would be better to run ICS. And I like the build quality and hardware of the G2x. Pretty top notch. Plus the re-sale value is better, I hate how the MT4G is so cheap nowadays.

So you haven't had any issues with the G2X? Currently I'm choosing b/t the G2X & Sensation, but I'm not really sure which is better. I thought G2X had backlight bleeding or something like that. But, I'm leaning to the Sensation since I wanted a higher res.

No, G2x has been perfect so far. I love the Tegra 2 because it never heats up with light useage like Snapdragon's. And the build quality and external speakers are great. I have slight screen bleed on the top right. But I don't notice it unless the screen is all blacked out with high brightness. So it's no real issue.
I would probably chose the Sensation because oh the qHD and slightly bigger screen. But the G2x is great too.

Mostly because it's VERY hard to adapt a whole different framework and kernel across different manufacturers. Even with the same manufacturer it isn't always easy (Nexus One still doesn't have a proper Sense 3 ROM, while its cousin Desire has it running stable for months - because kernel adaptation without source isn't easy).
Too much work, too little to gain.
