[Q] Wolfram Alpha not compatible anymore - Droid X General

Wolfram Alpha used to be working on my device when I ran stock 2.2 and the Gingerbread based RC2 Apex rom. But now I'm running MIUI and I can't seem to get it installed. I purchased the program on the Android Market and got it for free while it was the free app of the day on Amazon's market (just in case), and neither will install. I also tried to restore the app with Titanium backup, but with no luck.
I also searched around and tried to install the app through an Update.zip, but that didn't work either.
Does anyone have any ideas?
PS. I also saw another thread for this in the Galaxy S II part of the forums, but the person who answered didn't give a very detailed response, and I had no clue as to what they were getting at. Any help would be appreciated, even if it's telling me that I can't ever get it to work.

AT&T blocking thinkfree viewer on vibrant?

i am one of few people who bought vibrant to use on AT&T network as i preferred its looks to captivate.
anyway i am on MIUI 1.9.9 LE7 and was trying to install thinkfree mobile viewer app on my vibrant, but coudnt find it when searched thru market on phone, so searched it on pc and it says "this app is incompatible with your device" it shows me only the pro version for 9.99 which i dont need, all i need is viewer which is free. has anyone got any solution?
thanks.
Highly Doubt it
Unlikely but best way to find out is to odin to stock and see if it downloads from there. There are several SW developers that don't offer their products to certain HW. For example, I can download Order and Chaos on 2.2 and 2.2.1 roms but it isn't available on market for CM7 or MIUI roms. I believe this has something to do with how CM7/ MIUI is recognized by market (perhaps as international version). The best way around this (thanks to tip from a member here) is to backup your app, while on a compatable rom, with TB and restore on Revamped. Alternatively you can change how the phone is identified but I have found the previous method to be more successful.
thanks for the reply, i will try your method or i will just try installing thinkdroid.zip which i have from the Trigger 3.2 days lying around

Or just get the APK for that app I believe EDT has this one of their "pick and chose " apps might email them and maybe they can just send you the apk
Or try changing your build prop to whatever the captivate is. Ours is SGH-T959 so I assume theirs would read SGH-I897 but check first.

Hello Every one
I am new using android, i don't know much about it.
Few months back i bought DEll XCD 35 running with Android 2.2...
whats the latest version i can upgrade it to ?
where i can get it ?
and how can i begin the upgrade [some guidance so i don't do wrong upgrade ]
I am ready to pay to get help fast
Thanks,
Rahul
look at bottom post for my question
Starting with xcd 35
Your mobile is now in factory condition with Non Root access.
So first try to get the feel of having a rooted device.
Advantage is that you will be elevated to a super user(term in linux for an admin user) - google how to Root zte blade, u will see a modaco link for that. Do that first and once u get a hang of having a rooted device proceed on to Installing Recovery, then a new ROM
hope this helps.. I am new user in xda so i cant post links... sorry
The last stock update for blade is 2.2. And I'm not sure whether 2.3 stock will be available to blade or not.
But u can always have customised 2.3 AOSP roms.

thanks for replying....

Edited :: installing clockwise recovery using rom manager...
Final Update :: finally got to install canyon mode 7.1.0 rc1 working on cell.... please tell me if there is any rom which is similar to android 2.3.4
Try Ginger Stir Fry presently version 26, very stable and good for daily use. And lot of people use it and post issues about it (also check modaco).. lot of support available.
Then there is elitemovil, LOT OF OPTIONS..... definitely worth a try. am going to jump into that after using gsf.

I remember task manager is a stock app of zte blade. No wonder if u find it missing in custom roms.
Removing /system/apps requires rooting. Use "titanium backup" or "root uninstaller" applications to remove those system apps. Those are the GUI tools for uninstalling system apps. You can also do it with command-line adb shell from a PC.

Ad Hoc WiFI problem
Hi, I also use a xcd35, with stock rom 2.2, 512 MB.
I have realised that I cant share my laptop Vista Internet as programs like connectify will only create Ad Hoc connections and Android 2.2 wont detect the same.. Various forums suggests replacing wpa_supplicant.. wonder if anyone has done it and how far it was successful..

[Q] CM9 and Gameboid not playing nice, is it just me?

I just recently started using CM9 for my epic 4g, but since i flashed it and re-installed gameboid, no matter what i do it does not want to work. ive searched the forums and tried several proposed fixes. ive reflashed the rom, tried a different kernel, uninstalled and re-installed gameboid, tried a different bios for it, and even checked to see if i had "force gpu rendering" activated, since apparently that can cause it not to work. not one of these attempts were successful. anybody got any other ideas what it could be? i thought maybe that emulator isnt compatible with ICS, but ive read about other users on this forum not having any problems with it.
I was having problems also, but since I upgraded to version 2.4.7, it's been working fine for me in CM9.
What is it doing? Does it exit back to the emulator screen when you launch a game? That's what it was doing for me.
Edit: Wow! Guess I've never posted here before. And this account was created in 2007??? I've got to be in the running for some kind of lurker award!

yea, thats what it was doing. and upgrading fixed it for me too. i was sure i was running the most recent version, but your post compelled me to check, and sure enough, the 2 versions i had downloaded were 1.7.something and 3.0.something(weird). guess i just overthought this one, haha.
this will teach me to download apks from the directly from the source whenever possible.

[Q] MIUI v4 Alpha + Whatsapp?

I recently installed the newest MIUI build which is running pretty stable for me however the latest Whatsapp is not installing (says it's incompatible...). I found this thread which tells me that I can install an old version of the program and be able to run it, however every time I open it, it asks me to update to the newer version (and surprise! Whatsapp doesn't "support" custom ROMs). Is there any way to trick the Market (or "Play"...horrible name btw) to install? Thanks!!
I couldn't did it in the market or restore it from tibu backup either

Seems like there's an update addressing problems with the Market...let's see how it goes!
google for whatsapp apk and install it manually BANG
rather go to whatsapps website on your phone and it will let you download latest version....
