HTC Flyer - Acer Iconia A500

Alright Guys. We have a lot of talented Devs. Here Who have ported many devices. Now I am wondering if Anyone is able to port the HTC FLYER. Tablet I know it is using a sense interface. But I think that would look amazing on our tablets.

Really? I beg to differ as the flyer needs honeycomb not vice versa. I actually own a flyer and not overly impressed. Sense is for mobiles not tablets! 3.2 is geared for devices like the flyer and other 7 inch devices. Sorry to disagree

I think maybe once the flyer received 3.2 with sense, then it would be worth porting

already asked this. I was told there are issues with porting gingerbread to a honeycomb tab but how is this different than porting honeycomb to the nook? I say I say I say. Any one know

Gingerbread requires hardware buttons, honeycomb tablets don't.

Will TouchWiz from the 10.1 galaxy get ported to the xoom?

I'm liking the touchwiz on the newer samsung 3.1 tablets. Any chance it will get ported to the xoom? The newer touchwiz for the phones/tablets look really sleek alongside the widgets.
I sure hope not.
I don't think you would need to port anything, just drag over the appropriate files. It doesn't look as integrated as sense, and it runs on the stock 3.1 experience.

I dunno the new TW is pretty nice.
would be interesting if someone could get HTC Sense on the Xoom...
Touchwiz is terrible but I'm sure well be able to install on our xooms
samsung has said that touchwiz will be made available as a seperate download after they release the 10.1 so I can't see why it would be that hard to move over, at most just editing your build.prop to identify as a 10.1.

nooooooooo
i for one can say that as soon as HTC releases a honeycomb tablet with sense UI, I will be ripping it out and trying to port it to the xoom...... same as touchwz ux. There is something to be said for running stock honeycomb, but choice is also a good thing
Why would anyone willingly subject themselves to touchpiss is a better question.

Oi Do you own a Galaxy Tab 10.1?
Or a Galaxy S II?
Have you seen let alone tried TouchWiz 4 on it? Or the new honeycomb touchwiz that is being prepared for the new Tab?
No no no no.
Thought so. gtfo

i have an sgsi9000, witch has been completely de-touchwizzed and that's the best thing that could have happened to my phone. However, as I previously stated some people do actually like the added functionality, even if it does come at a speed hit. As I said before its all about choice, and that is what makes android GREAT, we can do with it what ever we choose to. Android is about customizing the expierence to siut your desire, and not having to be stuck with what somebody else says is good for you. Apple already has that part well covered ;-)

Touchwiz 4 is not great on the SGS2...
It shouldnt need to be ported for it should ab able to be like an app you can install or something to honeycomb since google more or less told them they couldnt intergrate it into the OS of honeycomb.
xooms Honeycomb is vanilla. I don't want Samsung's wiz near my vanilla.

My understanding is that TouchWiz for the Galaxy 10.1 is different than the one found on SGS2. The tablet version is not integrated in such a deep way as the phone versions were. If I have understood other threads correctly, the TouchWiz for tablets will be as easy as installing APK's.

similar to what they said Moto Blur would be then?
they said that after the big 'google said that third party UI wouldn't be required after 3.0' thing - it was hinted that Blur would be cut down to somewhat like apk's and 'applications' not a UI...

Honeycomb 3.2 for SGS2?

The SDK has been released, will we see this on the SGS2 soon?
If not by Samsung by the rom gurus?

Nope. It's for tablets only, and I doubt anyone can manage to port it to our device.

You mean "could be bothered" to port it. I'm sure that someone _could_, but an OS designed for a tablet on a 4.3" screen would be a bit average.
Wait for the Cyanogen guys to port IceCream Sandwich (Android 4.0?) if/when it turns up. By that time Samsung will have dropped the SGS2 like last weeks spam sandwich and will be pushing the SGS3 instead.
Of course, that won't be until around Christmas sometime I'd be guessing.
God dammit, this is about the 3rd topic on the same thing. SDK does not equal the whole os, google have only put out the source for the gpl bits and a lot of android is apache.
And a 3.0 port wouldn't make much sense on a 4.3inch screen
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
this is the exact reason why Google hasn't made honeycomb open sourced.
Honeycomb is only meant for tablets. Until people learn to accept that it will remain closed. We've already seen android ruined by sub-par OEMs putting android on their **** hardware.
I hope not, honeycomb looks so messy at the moment
There really is no point putting honeycomb on a phone, the optimisations are mainly just for larger screens. If there is something nice in there it normally gets ripped out and cooked into a ROM or app anyway, its just a waste of time doing a full port IMHO.

Then i hope a dev could make a really good honeycomb theme in that case

Any devs/porters interested in porting sense?

Hi. I am a rom porter/dev (depending on the definition you use) who just got a galaxy tab 10.1. Considering that our hardware is similar, I think it'd be in the best interests for galaxy tab 10.1 owners along with other tegra2 tablet owners could work together to port sense. I hope this is not against forum rules posting here, but I posted this so we can all help each other out to get sense ported.
Thank you

I just don't understand why everyone loves sense. At best, it is a battery and performance vampire. Sure, it has some neat features, but... every time I end up with an HTC device, the first thing I do is install a non-sense rom.
To each his own, though. Good luck.

To answer your question its is a very hard a daunting task.
Best way to get your device as close as sense would be flashing a galaxy tab rom port by fguy(my current rom) its under tabletroms Acer forum. And use apw Widgets. With adw ex or SPB shell
Or you can use Thors galaxy tab port at tegra owners Acer rom's forum user pimpmaneaton has ported a HTC sense theme from boosted for that rom and use apw Widgets to complete your desired look!
HTC is battery hungry and a pain in the ass or impossible so no one wants to port it plus user base won't use it as much compared to asop or stock Acer based rom's.

I would be really interested in having a full Sense themed ROM. I have a HTC Desire Z at the moment and had an HTC Hero before that. I absolutely love HTC's implementation of Sense and how things work so well. Really don't mind the extra battery use because you really can't get that kind of integration and ease of use for nothing.
Good luck finding anyone who wants to reverse engineer the closed source sense framework and then try and get it to work on our hardware.
The only successful sense ports have in the past been HTC to HTC devices such as the desire ROM to nexus one, or sensation to desire etc. It's a bit different porting sense to a device which already runs sense. The nexus one was really just a desire running aosp Android.

ICS with sense

Hello guys i am new here so excuse me if someone already wrote something about this.
is there any ice cream sandwitch rom with latest htc sense?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
None yet and there may not ever be. There will not be any drivers to hack to make it work as GB only got better because of the Desire source code. Note since that service will not see any more updates then we are out of luck.
Now someone may find a way but for now it's unlikely

Actually, there will definitely be a ICS ROM with sense. But you will have to wait. The reason being, HTC will launch new devices come this Q2 and Sense 4.0 is slated to be running on those devices. Such devices include the Ville, Edge, etc. So when those devices are released at the upcoming GSMA WMC on 27th February. You can expect a port a few days after that since there is bound to be someone posting the dump files and source code. This is how our sense 2.0 and 3.0 ROMs came about on our HD2s and its the only way. Custom building a ICS and Sense ROM from scratch is no easy task and like what chrisrj28 said above, it might not be possible for the devs.

Here is your answer.its here in xda and it wont be long before u see a hd2 port.when i say it wont be long,i mean its only a matter of days.just wait a bit longer mate
A RUU of ics with sense 4.0 of HTC Endeavour just leaked
Hope this is done soon. There is a port of the Sensation ICS Sense Rom for the myTouch 4G Slide.

It's good news, cant wait
I hope we must wait a little more, but for me, there are too many ICS roms without Sense in XDA.
I like Sense, so I prefer to wait as long as necessary, instead of install ics non sense plenty of bugs.
If I bought an HTC, I like to watch Sense in the screen, if not, I can have another device, Samsung, LG, Motorola.....
ICS without sense better then 2.3 with sense.

I think the biggest issue is a kernel to boot the sense ICS, and there is no doubt HD2 will be running sense ICS
On Sensation already..
I think we should request some of the HD2 chief chefs need to come together for us... it is here now on Sensation, working .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513055
IMHO hd2 can't stand ics with sense...too heavy!....that's for quad-core devices!! the 2.3 sense is too much for our "old" hardware, too....
even if our fantastic hd2 is the best phone in the world, his hardware is going to be old...I think that it's arrived at the end of its possibilities with ics...
I have the US HD2 and it runs 2.3.5 Sense 3.5 just fine. No major issues at all. Also the HTC One V has specs not too far from the HD2 will be on sense 4.0.

Yeah initial hands on show that Sense 4.0/ICS do not perform as well as the big phones but it is adequate enough. And that is without the mods and customizations that Devs here are capable of.
The biggest issue will be drivers
Any news? Or I am missing something?

Honeycomb

I know alot of people are working on ICS but since honeycomb is older wouldnt it be easy to make a port? Just wondering.
You should port it real quick, and let us know which version was easier

ICS runs very smoothly so there is no point in porting honeycomb
Also Honeycomb is not open sourced.
