[Q] A good Contact App - Desire Themes and Apps

Hi
I think this is a common disadvantage of going to a slim ROM... One thing i loved about HTC Sense was its People App and the integration it provided...along with the great "link" feature, made sure a twitter contact, a fb contact, an email and a phone number are the same person...
I am not a developer but I am very impressed and grateful for the developers here... It would so awesome if there was a better contact app which means me with lots more people could switch to No-Sense ROMs
Thanks

How about Go Contacts?

I am actually very suprised at how good it is... Thanks!! And I have been using GO Launcher ever since...

I used to have aContacts in my phone, but I replaced that with the better Youlu Phonebook app.

I use contapps (http://www.contapps.com/) and think it's great!

Touchpal dialer / contacts works brilliantly, got everything you could want and looks very polished to boot

does it use t9 dialing?

Rocket Dial is a nice option, too
Been my fav since cm7 dialer doesn't feature smart dialing, which is rather annoying if you're coming from sense UI.

[REQ] Acer LiquidE dialer

Hi, I have seen on my friend's LiquidE nice dialer. And i thought that it would be great to port it to Desire AOSP ROMs. So, i download FroYo leak ROM for LiqidE and extract Contacts.apk. And push it to system/app to my Desire running CM 6 Nightly 0302010. And it works. but not all. Dialpad and Favorites works fine, but Call Log doesn't show any calls at all, and when trying to go to contacs dialer FC's.
COULD ANYONE HELP TO MAKE THIS DIALER/CONTACTS APP BE FULLWORKING ON DESIRE?
pardon my french but, -bleghhhhh- why would you want this? the default dialer is way better looking and you also have dialerONE
That thing is uuuuuuuuuugly.
So, it depends on every man likings. I like the look of acer dialer.

I know that every person has his own taste, but to me the best thing about Acer Liquid is Nemo player.
+1 for this dialer

Interesting you say that, I find Sense's dialer much quicker to use. Being able to dial up a contact by name rather than use the phone book is very nice.
Personally, Liberated is my choice, particularly now that it has the OC kernel on it. It's very fast and I get to keep Sense, which (if you ask me) HTC did incredibly well for Android.
Liberated all the way

I like Cyanogenmod and Liberated Froyo, I keep a backup of both on my SD card at all times

Cyanogenmod by far. Its customizabilty and features make it superior in my opinion. And anything you might miss about sense can pretty much be found in an app.
Sent from my cm6.1 Aria using XDA App
I would LOVE TO USE Cyanogenmod
The one thing that makes it unusable for me is their Exchange Email implementation.
No touch copy-n-paste
No embedded graphics
No Pinch Zoom
I dont want to have to buy Touchdown for $30 when the HTC Sense email works great.
Anyone else have this issue?
(*currently running Hong Kong Shipping 2.2 Kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715)

Youlu.
IMHO, its the best looking contacts/dialer/messaging app out there.
Sent from my GT-P1000
i´m using dialer one, does everthing i need
Youlu kicks Dialer One's butt imo.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Youlu doesn't work on my desire. dialer one is good but slow. Htc Sense dialer is still the best.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
works on my desire(Aurax 8.1.1 ROM) but...yesss this one from HTC Sense much much better....imho
btw. is it possible to install just htc sense dialer in non-sense roms??
Dialer One for sure.......

Youlu is very pretty, however in my brief use (before uninstalling) it asked me to sign up to its own servers as opposed to syncing solely with Googles, and it accessed and sync'ed all of my Google contacts as opposed to those in "My Contacts" (so basically everyone who has ever emailed or SMS'ed me!).
I'd love a Youlu interface on top of DialerOne functionality.

[Q] Original HTC stock apps-Android

I have a HTC Desire and I recently installed a Gingerbread ROM with Oxygen, and I really miss the HTC flavour. Is there any way I could have HTC Sense or at least the stock apps back on this rom?
P.S.: I hope that I didn't post in the wrong place...
The gingerbread Rom is an ASOP Rom, sense programs will not runn as they need the associated HTC files also, if you run a sense Rom with another launcher over it you will see the programs will run but the widgets won't load, again they will only work with the sense launcher. You can get apps that replicate the look. Get Beautiful/fancy widgets for the clock, but the best is to get launcher pro and pay for the extra, the widgets are very similar

I feel ya bro. Get fancy widget to hold you over till its Ported.

I found those apps in a rom, and as you said, it ain't work... It doesn't even install, only the camera app which crashes.. I wanted HTC Music back, but, fortunately, I found the Honeycomb leaked Music app, so it's cool.
Does the contacts app work in Oxy Ginger. I like the facebook pictures sync. Now all of my contacts are without pics

The Sense contact app won't work. Try SyncMyPix from the Android Market insread. Perhaps it can help.

[PROJECT] Port Phonebook/Dialer & SMS app from ARC to Froyo ROMS - HELP NEEDED NEARLY

[PROJECT] Port Phonebook/Dialer & SMS app from ARC to Froyo ROMS - HELP NEEDED NEARLY
If anyone is interested in helping out with this, i'd like to be able to port these over, even if just the SMS app works, looks alot better than the android defaults.
CAN THIS BE MOVED BACK TO DEV, NEED SOME HELP CHECK PAGE 3
Hey how about doing it in other way, making android apps looks like SE apps. I was able to change Dialer Contacts and Settings apk. I'm trying to change the Mms and improve the Contact apk in the future.
You are aiming for hi-res contact images also? It is quite nice, but it is shame that google still in its gmail has 160*160 pics, and in their forums are no signs of progress about evolving this thing despite the requests from other gmail users. I am using gmail as primary sync source and those small streched out pics on x10 apps looks kind of commandore/amiga style like. Btw if the pictures are synced from facebook. Who decides the resolution of the pics. Phone contact app settings or FB app sync service?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Hmm you cant really replicate it witht he stock apps epecially the SMS app that has no hope lol
Yeah it's hard
As far as i know the SE phonebook is linked to Timescape. Without TS the phonebook will FC on 2.1, so you'd have to totally re-write the app rather than port it.

Not sure about that ive removed timescape from all my prevous roms with no problems, the feature in phonebook to sync just doesnt show, then if you want facebook sync you can set it in the facebook app settings

Until i´ve jumped to 2.2, still in 2.1, i always removed Timescape and never had any problem with SE phonebook because of that.
It would be awesome if we could port the SE messaging app, that thing is beastly, way better than the stock

Might be just me then. When I tried it, it was some time ago, and my contacts were already synchronized to TS when I uninstalled it

lol i hated the stock sony messaging app... a thread with 4.5k+ messages takes forever to open. and whenever i sent a long message my phone would just freeze and restart. handcent is much better
I really liked the stock 2.1 dialer contact + message apps! They were freakin sexy with the Honeycomb theme... (Also without)
If someone would port this, I would buy a beer for him.
Will give it a shot, but like i say, it will prbably go horribly wrong lol
Why don't you guys just use Arc's apks found in arcs system dump? No need to port or anything..
Just install phonebook.apk and infiniteview.apk for contacts
