For the past 3 days, periodically throughout the day, I get a notice the Google Services Framework is unresposive and must force close. My question is...
1. Is it something important I should be worried about?
2. Is anyone else getting this?
3. Is there a specific app causing this?
3a. If not, I there a known cause?
4. Is there a fix?
Btw, I am using a nonrooted Epic. I did search. And all help is greatly appreciated.

I had this problem after dropping my phone and having the battery pop out while running.
I went into Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All, then I found Google Services Framework, opened it and clicked "Clear Data", and that seemed to fix it (note, it took 2 days for the Android Market to show anything under "My Apps")
Note, I'm rooted on Bonsai 4.1.3. This "google services framework" FC occurred even after restoring from a prior CWM backup oddly enough which is why I decided to try clearing the data in Applications.
Good luck, hopefully you have a backup in case my idea blows up your house.
I have been getting random vibrate, pause then three more vibrates like something is force closing but nothing shows on screen. I also have had maps force close several times. I am on eg22 rooted.

I have gotten this force close a few times and wiping everything 3x and restoring a nandroid didn't work for me 9 times out of 10. I ended up having to use Odin to get rid of it. Hopefully just wiping the data works for you otherwise Odin may be the only way to get it fixed. So, try wiping cache and Dalvik 3x first. If that doesn't work, try wiping everything 3x and restoring a backup. If that doesn't work, try re-flashing the ROM and finally the last resort is Odin

I am not using any roms, nor is my phone flashed with anything. Its stock EC05. It appears to have rectified itself but I'd still like to know what's happening to prevent it again.
Someone I know had this same exact problem a few days ago. Wiping the data for Google Services Framework fixed it.
This happened to me a few weeks ago. Clearing data is the best fix for some, for me however it just made my launcher loop-crash. If clearing data fails, go into cwm and 'fix permissions'. This got me back on my feet
Sent from my Syndicated Epic using XDA Premium App
Happened to me last night and Odin was my only fix. Tried fixing permissions, clearing data, neither worked for me. Issues still remained after a nandroid restore
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
MY phone tends to overheat when on calls outside at lunch and 20% of the time this is the result when I reboot. And sometimes the fix permissions works and sometimes it doesnt. If it doesn't I was reodin'ing to fix it.. Sucks for when you are not around a computer when this happens.. My fix to a computer free solution was to keep a copy of the ec05 reRFS.zip on my sd card. I can hop over to clockwork and flash this and it will at least take me back to a stock rooted and working phone until I can get back to a computer or whatever....
I have also experienced this annoying issue and my only fix was odining as wel
So rooting my phone is the only fix if clearing the data fails?
Sent from my non-rooted Epic 4G using the free XDA App
No you don't have to root. Just odin the ec05 tar. You will lose all of your data because it basically reinstalls the os it's like starting over. If you do root you can use titanium backup and that will save all of your apps and data.
My epic does this on every custom rom. So I went back to stock no more problems.

I am not sure if this has been resolved if it has please point me in right direction to thread. everytime I pull my battery out everything system force closes (messaging, phone, swype, android process. etc..) I read somewhere that sometimes clearing data or cache fixes this although I've had no luck, the only way I get around this is restoring to one of my back ups. is there a faster or better way around this? also I am rooted froyo 2.2/EC05 with various roms.

Are you perhaps running on the ext4 file system with journaling off?
Maybe switch back to journaling if this is the case. If not disregard and wait til a better answer comes along.

I asked the same question in a thread but sorry i cant remember which thread but i was told that doing a battery pull with phone on can cause data corruption much like how when u just like when u dont shut down ur computer properly. Hope this helps.
The only fix i was able to find was a system restore.

Pulling your battery shouldn't cause this issue, unless you pulled it before the phone was completely shut down. (You have to wait for it to go black and vibrate. This vibration happens anywhere from 2 seconds to 15 seconds after the phone goes dark, depending on which rom you are using).
It seems to be a "no journaling" issue with 95% of the people that this has happened to (including myself!!) "No journaling" is a faster set-up, but will not write needed data in the event of an unexpected/improper shut down.
No journaling/journaling is a choice we have been given by the great developers here, so it really comes down to personal preference.
As a side-note: If you have restored a backup that had jounaling "on", you don't have to worry about turning it back on now. I believe, from what I have read on here, that it reverted automatically. Also - if you restored a backup that was not ext4, then I don't think you are ext4 anymore either.
Hopefully I haven't taken up all this space telling you something you already know. In any case, I hope this helps a little!
This happened to me last night and I was pissed cause I would have lost a lot of unsaved numbers. I found the easiest fix though. Boot into clockwork > advanced > fix permissions. That simple.

Don't pull your battery until off........... these are not simple devices you can go yanking the battery out of whenever you want and its still gonna work properly.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
If journaling is on then you can.
To (re)enable journaling just make a NAND backup then restore it.

Sooo how long should we stare at a frozen screen until we do pull the batt?
I finally gave up on custom roms and am sticking with stock, just for this reason, way too many FCs then I do a batt pull and I gotta reflash the rom and hope it works
.. I guess this phone just can't handle the flash dance like my HTCs could.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Guess no one tried doing what I did. Cause, you know, it's SO much harder than reflashing an entire rom and losing your data...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I gave up on custom ROMs as well. I'm on cleaned up stock and I get great battery life with plenty of speed and no debilitating errors. If (or I should say WHEN) an app decides to go batty, it only hurts itself and not my entire system.
just happened to me smh....
Turn journaling on, and search or something

Listen too him he is absolutly correct. Turn journaling on. Also you don't have to stare at a blank phone it will vibrate when its done shutting down after the display is off
Go here for 2 scripts to enable and disable journaling

I was going to tell him 2-3 hours but you have to watch cuz the led might flash and show you it's ready. I'm only feeling semi-helpful today. I gave a great fix for this on the SRF thread if you're OCD about backing up like I can be.
Ever since I try'd I RMK's sense 3.0 release and flashing back to CM7 (I wiped EVERYTHING) i boot in to CM7 and find that some of my native android apps are just gone, these include phone, contacts and some others. All of my music apps would just F/C and said they couldn't read the SD card even though my file managers could. my gallery also would not work. It would just just say "there are no items in my collection". The first thing I try'd to do was to go into ROM manager and fix permission. It did its job but all the same apps would force close and the phone still couldn't read the SD card. The only thing i could think to do next was to download and re-install CM7(stable release 7.0.2) through Rom Manager. But the downloads kept failing. But this is another problem. to even download the rom i had to be connected to Wi-Fi and i was in a room i never have signal issues in... EVER. Only to realize that it wasn't the room giving be bad reception, something else is and I don't know what it could be. I have never flashed a different radio, ever. My data shouldn't be throttled because i have unlimited data and i never got a message saying my data was going to be throttled like I hear everyone else getting. I have also recently (last night) discovered my phone must of stopped getting widgets... when i try to add a widget, for the app elixir, it just doesnt show up. yet other apps like setCPU show up just fine. I have never had problems like this with CM7!! Someone please, if you can help with any of these problems, lemme know!
Today i've been using Virtous Fusion and after some testing i did super wipe and flashed CM7 #65. Zero problems.
Have you tried to use super wipe?

If you are having problems, boot into CWM and reflash the rom right over what you are running. It will backup the apps and everything for you and you will be back up and running in under a half hour.
You might want to try this before doing that though:
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All
Scroll down to Youtube and select it. Hit "Clear Data" and then exit out and try Youtube again.
Are you running stock or a custom ROM? It has been so long since I have run stock that I wouldn't be able to help you out with that. I am currently running SyndicateROM Frozen. It's sold as a rock, fast, and I can go days without rebooting.
Getting the same EXACT issue as the OP. Running stock and rooted EC05. I think it started recently with the latest YouTube update. It didn't do that when I first got EC05.
Yes, me too. Stock EC05. I also noticed that the video camera and stock video player stop working when the youtube app fails.

Have you considered trying a custom ROM? I tried the scenario you described and didn't have a problem. I am running SyndicateROM Frozen, but there are others to choose from.
Just a thought.
Thanks, I'm sure that would help but I don't want to root.
I read the reviews in the Market for our current version of YouTube and apparently a lot of other users on different phones are getting the same problem. Many 1 star reviews lately because of it. As I stated earlier, this didn't start occurring until recently, which I attribute to the latest upgrade of the app.
Mine is the inability for the phone to roam on the PCS band. Really Samsung? Fix the bug!
Yes, this happened a lot to me when I was running EC05. So annoying.
Sounds like it's an EC05 bug. I refuse to power cycle 3 times a day for luxurious mutimedia. My Flash works, that's all I need. But wait, now the same error occurs when checking Voicemail, taking video, using the stock player... what's next? But I will not power cycle.

I think the Youtube glitch was due to a problem Google was having. If you've noticed, Gmail also had an insane lag and fail to send rate during that time too. Might actually just be Google servers.
I had the same issue but it stopped after so long and I'm back to normal.
I tried a fix I read in another thread and it seems to work. Uninstall the official twitter app and use another like tweetcaster. I have power cycled and haven't had that youtube problem anymore. Don't know why that worked.

Unmount your SD card and Mount it back again and that will fix the youtube app. I don't know why it fixes this problem for me. Let me know if it worked for you.
The only rom this happens to me on is ec05 plus.

Hi everyone. Im trying to find out if anyone has any suggestions for a problem my wife is having on her Atrix. Her Atrix is completely stock with the most up to date updates installed.
She often lets our son look at youtube videos and sometimes (actually often) the phone will completely freeze. The only way to get it back to normal is with a battery pull. My son uses my phone for youtube also. I have an Atrix unlocked and rooted. I dont think that mine has ever froze while he is using it.
Can anyone say why this might happen and how to correct it?
First thing I'd try is clearing the YouTube data in settings.
Then go to the Android Market and search "YouTube". Sometimes they have a "manual update" hiding in there.
If that doesn't work I'd clear the phone cache, then dalvic cache if the phone cache doesn't work.
Finally if all else fails (and you have no 3rd party security App installed to cause any conflicts) then I'd go for the factory reset...

Is anyone else experiencing any performance issues after root? I'm trying to figure out exactly what is happening, so if anyone has suggestions please send them my way.
I haven't done anything crazy after root except install Super Su, freeze some apps with TiB, and remove some bloat (VZW stuff). Now every reboot from my device takes between 3 to 10 minutes to fully come up (using All-in-one toolbox). It used to take under 2 minutes. Scrolling between screens are slow as hell too.
S Health no longer works (I read the threads about fix, but doesn't work for me).
I had to uninstall Xposed framework and Wanam (too laggy) and disabled the Google Now Launcher.
Please, post up any helpful suggestions or anything I should try to improve my performance. Thanks!

Did it start only after root or after installing the xposed framework? If it was the latter have you tried the fixes that have been posted?(disable secure storage, clear shealth cache/davlik cache.)

Thanks for the reply Rakuu and yes, I have tried clearing both caches and secure storage is disabled. The degraded performance started after getting root, but I installed Xposed pretty quickly afterwards. It almost feels like stuff is running in the background, but I can't see any blatant process that could be causing it.
I was actually thinking that the S5 would fly after freezing or removing the bloat. Weird.
You can always Odin back to stock . I had Bluetooth problems and lag after root. I went back to stock and no more problems

That's what I'm going to do I think. I hate my phone now.
EDIT: Noticed this morning that notifications are not working properly and something is also draining my battery. Phone died over night (77% battery) at 10:30pm and late for work today.
Question (probably stupid one): Is there a way to redo the root process or do a factory reset without loosing root to try and fix these issues? Otherwise, will be using Odin today. Thanks.

I'm having similar issues, although not quite as bad as yours, after rooting, removing bloat and installing Xposed. I'll be ODIN'ing back to stock and re-rooting tonight.
If I were you, I would do the same: ODIN back to stock and then re-root. Rooting is now a 1 click deal so it's really not hard or time consuming at all. Then just make sure to take your time removing bloat and modifying to try and identify what exactly is causing the performance issues.
So my phone seems to be functioning normally now, but I'm not sure why. Battery is lasting all day, screens seem more responsive, notifications working, and I even got S Health to start working with fix (wasn't editing/saving the build.prop file correctly). I still need to re-install Xposed and Wanam, but I didn't want to push my good luck.
Can anyone guess why performance is better now (like night and day difference)?!
I noticed it with mine too. I put it back to stock and left it

Rooting itself does not change performance. Just clarifying because the subject line suggests that it does.
