Then uninstall it??
Once you have rooted your phone you no longer need to keep it installed, its simply an app to root not to keep it rooted, unless im mistaken.
correct...once you use it you can uninstall it I would maybe keep a copy of the apk file on your sdcard just in case
I rooted my wifes vibrant using this app and once I was done rooting and flashing nero, the app was ininstalled/deleted after the flash was complete.
...I believe visionary+ shows up under whats using the battery on my MT4G as well (stock ROM still), but have never noticed a difference in battery drain.

How to unroot?

I'm returning my acer. Not looking to discuss that.
Obviously, I need to unroot my device. I tried to use gingerbreak. Didn't open. Tried to do the ota update. Still have root. How can I get rid of it?

Alright so I lost root privelages but now I changed my mind... lol. How am I able to get root back? As said previously gingerbreak refuses to open.

try rebooting the device then running gingerbreak again... otherwise youll probably have to factory restore and then do it
gingerbreak when you start, remember to lock it in portrait mode
Portrait + Lock

Yes, portrait + lock. Should unroot it after reboots, then apply your update. You can check this using "root check".
Forgot the portrait lock. Thanks for that guys. I'm back up and runnin'
OK, so I need to return for hardware reasons as well - how did you get rid of having root access?

Reflash your original back up as you are always advised to do so prior to customising

Lost TWRP and Root overnight? already on 6.2.1

Very strange.
I rooted my KF last week using KF Utility
Added TWRP and FireFireFire
Added OTARootKeeper
protected root and selected "Temp Unroot" so I could watch Amazon Video
Today I tried to re-root with OTA Rootkeeper but noticed it wasn't re-checking the "root" box. Root Explorer confirmed it didn't have root.
Rebooted to see if that would help.. and noticed the FireFireFire logo was no longer there and it was just the default kindle fire boot animation.
Somehow I lost it all!? But I am pretty sure I was already on 6.2.1 and I renamed "OTASilentInstall.apk" to .xxx
Does the OTASilentInstall rename trick not work?
Nevermind. I see that just renaming OTASilentInstall.apk is not a proven protection against updates. I must have had 6.2.0. Oh well. I'll just re-root 6.2.1
This is something that continues to worry me. I thought OTARootkeeper was supposed to block OTA updates from Amazon. Is that not the case? I don't care about the Amazon videos. If it's not on Netflix, I probably wouldn't watch it anyway.

I froze otasilentinstall.Apk with titanium backup . I think I'm pretty safe from any updates.

Problems seeing any OTA update

Hey, I am having a problem with my B70 TF101 Transformer. I am not seeing any available OTA updates at all. ICS may not be out yet for me, but I don't even see the .21 update.
Here's some background, everything was fine and I was running a rooted Transformer. I installed Busybox off the market and it proceeded to remove root and make everything stop working (wireless, bluetooth, a number of other things).
I ran these steps:
Update. trippmcnealy had success with a tweak to this. If it doesn't work you might want to follow his method.
1) Download http://www.multiupload.com/X65RBVD2MB
2) Unzip so you have just have "WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip". Keep this zipped and copy to root of external SD.
3) Put another copy of the same file on your external SD card and name it "EP101_SDUPDATE.zip"
4) Put both files "EP101_SDUPDATE.zip" and "WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip" on the root of your internal SD card.
5) Power down your TF
6) Power up into recovery - by pressing the power button and volume down button. Then press volume up when instructed by the screen.
7) You should now see the Android guy with some gears turning. This is good, actually this is GREAT! This will go on for a minute or so and then the device will reboot on its own. It will then go to the boot screen and you should see a bar showing you the progress of the update.
8) Once it has completed, install RazorClaw and root your device.
It allowed me to recover root and I am running .19 once more. Everything currently works beautifully, except I do not have any OTA updates available.
My concerns are twofold: I used WW_epad-user-8.6.6.19.zip as suggested, however I am in the US. I am wondering if that has an impact. I am also wondering if I don't see any updates because it THINKS I have .21 already completed somehow?
Any ideas?
I think 8.6.6.xx is for 3G version and the last version is 8.6.6.23. What tablet do you have?... Is only wifi or 3G version?..
For 3G no update yet.

It's a TF101, WiFi only, no 3G.

You do have a custom rom on your tablet, you need to get the original update 8.6.5.21(US or WW) from asus web page and flash to stock. Then you will be able to get the OTA ICS rom.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
If you currently have WW_8.6.5.21 can you flash to US_8.6.5.21 or would that cause a problem. I have not been able to find that answered for the TF101

I'm confused as to how I got a custom ROM without root access at the time. Following those steps again with 8.6.5.21 is what I've been trying and it never sees the update. I put the file on both the internal and external SD in the root with two files named correctly.
I am downloading these zip files right off of ASUS' support site.

Look for the NVFLASH for your device to go back to 8.6.5.13, then do the update.

Is not available for 3g version devices is only for wifi devices and OTG is only for 8.6.5.21 version.

Well, now that the thread derailment is over. For anyone who is reading this looking for help in a similar situation, here is what I did:
- I installed RecoveryInstaller.apk (Google'd for it) so I could get CWM on the Tablet.
- I then upgraded to 8.6.5.21 with that. I lost root (and CWM), but did not see any OTA updates.
- I sort of gave up at this point, since I assume it's past recovering without wiping my tablet AGAIN (had to wipe it when I did the upgrade which got me into this mess).
- I then found an upgrade to ICS which does not kill root, so I re-installed CWM with RecoveryInstaller and then flashed to ICS with that. I probably still won't see OTA updates, but I have CWM and root so I can just flash them manually if needed.
Not an elegant solution, but I lost no data and my Android tablet appears to be running just fine.

[Q] Temp Root for KF 6.3?

Does anyone know a method of temp rooting the KF with the new update?
I have been using BurritoRoot3 to toggle it to root to make minour modifications, but don't want to have any issues with video, etc...so after installing Swype etc, I turn root back off.
I love the ability to just flip the switch until the next reboot.
Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper works well.

Actually I don't have permanent root, and I have received the update.
I don't want to permanently root, just root temporarily when necessary.

Oh, I misunderstood. You need to root it and then you can temporarily unroot. I am rooted and I use OTA Rootkeeper to Temp unroot and use all of Amazon's services - free Prime instant videos, Prime members free book lending library, etc. no problems.
Excellent, thanks. That is the opposite of how I was doing things, but I think that will do the trick.

Actually, on my Kindle Fire, rooted with Stock 6.3 root, I can temp unroot and watch Prime Videos, but I still can't see the lending library. When I click Store, it takes me to the Android Kindle browser, which doesn't show the lending library. I've looked at screenshots - and it is definitely different. I've confirmed that I've temp unrooted it, and I've even rebooted it - no avail. Any thoughts?
Solution: http://raywaldo.com/2012/01/kindle-fire-works-great/
Remove Kindle App updates from Android market.
