[Q] Trying to get wallpapers to look right - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm Running cm7 (nightlies) and ive been trying to get some wallpapers to look right, ever single one i have tried, all of them so far have shown up at the wrong resolution, or only a small part of the page. I have used Wallpaper set and save, the gallery, or uploading to dropbox and setting from webpage in dolphin browser.
My last attempt was to create my own

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
DPI was 196 and the resolution was 600x1024, which is apparently the right size for a non-scrolling wallpaper.
Again all above methods bring it to a terrible size on my screen.
I then tried multi-live wallpaper, and set a single image. This is the only thing that actually displays my image at the correct size, but... It is slow, it brings up a loading symbol when i unlock the screen, or when i rotate the screen. This is not ideal, i would rather a more native method that doesn't lag when i do those things.
any suggestions?

Nope, but QuickPic did the trick for me. Not much different than the native Gallery. Just better.

Just as reference, if i try to save from browser, or use gallery or quickpic. this happens
Whereas if i use multi-live
I think it is because the dpi is 196, i think the browser and gallery are defaulting to a lower 72dpi, then blowing the resolution up to match.

Focus Matrix Wallpaper

For all my fellow Samsung Focus brethren... here's my latest transparent effect wallpaper. The preview image is for illustration only. You have to use the one in the zip file, unzip it, and email it to yourself. Then download it in your mail, open it, and use as wallpaper. When you slide up to open, you will notice a transparent smoke effect.
Know issues with transparency:
1. Does not work with pin lock set
2. With certain apps open (like email for instance), you will see the bottom soft buttons through the wallpaper
If you don't want the transparent effect, just use the jpg image preview below (right click, save image as...)

NICE really coo! thanks!
Really nice all paper. Any chance you can tell us what you did? Is it just a transparent png?
The way I did it was using transparency and layers... there are a lot of ways to make cool effects. Look at this thread here:

This happens to be my favorite and what I'm using now (but not Focus specific):

picture on my phone
is it the phone?..if not can it be fixed?
If the phone's screen was bad, then the screenshot wouldn't look as bad. That's because the screenshot app doesn't take a pic of what's on it screen. It's taken from the rendering coming out of the GPU.
So don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your screen. Its probably the ROM.... or maybe someone somehow screwed up your GPU .

Seems to be a problem with the gallery app. I have/had the same problem. I wanted to have a specific picture as my wallpaper and the endquality looked horrible like in your screenshot. I read somewhere while googling, that the gallery app downscales the pictures in some way (correct me if im wrong).
If you want to make that picture as a wallpaper and want to keep the quality i can recommend the app "Crop Wallpaper". It lets you crop your pictures while keeping it's original quality and sets it as your wallpaper.

Last wallpaper - is it overwritten or saved somewhere

I downloaded a very nice starfield photo that was the bing app wallpaper 2 days ago. It went well with my theme and I accidentally overwrote it before saving the wallpaper to a folder on my SD card. The Bing desktop app can cycle through older photos but its a silverlight app so the phone can't do it.
The wallpaper photo from the Bing app was sized nicely, I've been unable to reproduce how it looked by going on the desktop and saving the photo to the phone.
When you press and hold a photo and set as wallpaper where are they saved to?
usually the SDcard/download
thats where my launcher pro ones are at least.
I found the image at http://wallpaperdownloader.com/bing-wallpaper/archive/all/0/ . Setting that one as wallpaper worked exactly the same as doing it from the Bing homepage two days ago.
This time I saved the wallpaper to downloads.
BTW, this is one of those times on the net where you discover something you like by accident. The photographer, Terje Sorgjerd of TSO photography, in addition to cool mountain top night skies, shoots amazing rock concert photos.
Here's the photo I'm using for my wallpaper:

GS5 Lollipop Settings Background Resolution?

I have the S5 currently on Lollipop 5.0 and I have managed to change my Settings background from white to an image.So far I have not seen any guides here about how to change it for Lollipop. I am just wondering if anyone knows what the resolution is supposed to be since the phone seems to squeeze the photo. Originally the resolution was 1920x1920 and I would see the image for a split second and then it would go black and remain that way. I decided to resize the image to 512x512 and it may still be too big.
I am looking for suggestions or any open ideas. Thanks in advance.
The S5 screen resolution is 1080x1920 (Or 1920x1080 in landscape)

Yeah I know however for the settings background and music background it has to be smaller, I've gotten 400x600 to work. Around that resolution. Haven't tried to go higher yet. Still working out some kinks.

This is currently what I have for now. I'm constantly changing to find what goes best with the different font colors.
Have you tried 1080x1920 ?
Chances are it uses the same rez for that background as the homescreen does, and different resolution images will just get stretched or skewed (My guess)

Where is the gallery in the camera app

For example on the G4 i tap on a photo hit the back arrow top left and it takes me to a scrolling grid of my images which I can view and or select several of for example.
I can't find how to do this in the G6 I've googled and it's driving me nuts. I'm not expected to have to go back and forth between the camera and gallery app surely?

You can enable an option in the camera settings that allow you to see the images in the gallery on the top of the screen.
THanks, I saw that but they're smaller and only one row.
If I wanted to email several photo's I could do it from the G4 camera app, this time I have to take the photo's then go to Gmail or gallery. Sigh, add to this the lack of LED and it's being to get a little disappointing.
