AS A FORMER OWNER OR THE A500 THE THING I MISS THE MOST ABOUT THE tablet is the dolby srs included in the rom.Because of the awful sound and good audio hardware on the tf i would like to see if srs could be ported over to the tf.I see the thrive and a500 have it and know its a software thing not hardware because on the a500 port to the gtab srs was enabled and everything sounded 100% better. someone please give the port a try i will donate and sure others will because of the sound quality and boost we will get from it.I tried eqs and dsp manager they just dont match the dolby mobile srs sound!!! thank you!!!! THis will most like solve most of our sound issues for the tf. The srs will affect the internal and external speakers as well as raise the soundstage and give us more headroom!
Did you seriously have to make the first 15 words all caps? Why don't you look into how they do it? It's probably just a few kernel modules.
The transformer has srs sound out of the box already. The sound sucks because of the speakers I think, if you put a headphone you'll notice the difference.
srs is awsome
caps was accidental i know its supposed to have srs but if you ever used a a500 you would know what i was talking about. its more like reverb but they have it perfect in settings there is a menu for dolby mobile sound you can enable disable and chosse the level of enhancement.Itr makes a huge differnce in sound.I mainly use my tf as my car stereo and the acer and tf have the same audio output hardware. they both sound similar when srs is off but when you turn it on it is amazing.I also tested my gtab with the acer port and its sounds identical.I tried every reverb 3d sound eq i could find and nothing matchs the sound!!
If you can supply an srs_processing.cfg file from a500 I could ive it a try.

No, the sound still sucks. In fact, the TF has the worse sound of ALL my portable devices capable of audio. And no, my device is not defective at all. I have tried on several TFs and the sound is just plain awful. SRS my butt.

Hmmm. When I had the a500, I compared it to the Transformer in several audio tests and found the transformer to be better in all regards. Maybe that's just me... I was a musician for 10 years, so what do I know about audio quality

Interesting! Most others would disagree, at least most reviews/comparisons. I would tend to trust a musicians ear; my wife is an amateur singer and I defer to hers all the time. Not sure on this one.

I either had a defective a500 or have an amazing Transformer. LOL
I had to send my TF in for repair because the speakers weren't working, so when it came back, I did all kinds of test to make sure it was working well. What I found about the a500 was that the sound seemed hollow or distant, but that could very well be because its speakers are in the back. I suppose if you turned it around and listened to it like that, it would sound great, but who would do that? Lol. It might have better sound, but not the way most people would use their device.

Hi,
I've recently bought a HD2 and I love it! I've actually started using it as my music player as it's more convenient. Coming from an iPhone and iPod Classic for my music I can't help to notice the audio quality just isn't as good with the HD2 with headphones.
I'm using a pair of Dr. Dre Monster Beat's Solo's and everything sounded alot nicer on my iPod. I've downloaded the SRS WOW sound for my HD2 and this improves sound quality although I was just wondering if anyone would have equaliser settings etc that would bring it on par with iPod's sound quality.
Thanks!!!
I've sadly got an 80GB Ipod Classic and out of all of the MP3 players I've ever had (and believe me I've had a few, the first one I bought I paid over £150 for and it had only 32MB of memory), it's by far the worst in terms of audio reproduction whereas the HD2 sounds decent out of the box and pretty amazing with SRS WOW so you'll have to excuse me if I'm a little sceptical of your 'Apple fanboyism'...
I'm definitely not saying the HD2 sounds bad although I believe my iPod sounded better with my headphones compared to the HD2. I'm definitely not an Apple fanboy lol...
In that case, try installing SRS WOW (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=330851&d=1274618355) and play around with the settings while listening to some music and I don't think that you could possibly be disappointed. If you still think that your iPod sounds better (without being rude) I think you might want to consider getting your ears syringed...
Instructions:
1. Install the CAB to \Device.
2. DO NOT ACCESS THE PROGRAM.
3. Soft reset your device.
4. Access it's settings from Settings ->

One of the main reasons why I use Leo instad of my Desire is be cause of the sound quality with SRS WOW! Give it a try!
As a person with poor hearing (hell i'm almost deaf in my right ear and my left isn't much better) i have to say with SRS WOW installed the hd2 sounds almost as good as my 5.1 surround sound speakers combined with my sound card (see below) although i would love to know how to save custom settings. As i like to have an audio profile for certain types of music in order for me to hear it better. I'm running the lastest version of SRS if that makes a difference

Far as I know there isin't a way to save profiles yet. But it is diffrent pre-made profiles, you can try to edit them and then go back and check if it stays the same. I have not upgraded to lastetst version yet.
I've been playing around with the SRS WOW and listening between my HD2 and my iPod with my Monster Beats Solos and the iPod is still giving me much nicer bass.

Go back to using your ipod then if your not satisfied. I (and many others) have no time for people that post comments like the above. Although if you are really commited to using your Leo as an mp3 player try tweaking the trubass levels or changing your headphones and if that doesn't work go see a doctor about your hyper accusis because you seem to be able to detect differences that no one else can!!!

If you have no time for these comments then why are you sitting here commenting. Don't comment. Why would I change $300 headphones that are completely fine? It looks like the HD2 can't produce the sound I'm looking for.

use GSplayer V.2.29 ,the best sound quality player
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/
use the EQ (Menu/Tools/Effects/Egualizer )that the GSPlayer have to add little bass and you ok
see the attached configuration of the EQ i recommend

coreplayer or TCPMP+audio booster (RnB)+SRS WOW (latest version, with the revamped recommended settings) gives my HD2 much much superior sound quality over the ipod/iphone. i have owned an iphone before and i can easily say that the HD2 coupled with the above tweaks beats the iphone/ipod out of the water

What can we do if you even can't even make the settings for SRS WOW as you want.
Somebody PLEASE tell me the audio from these two new devices is better than its predecessor?
Sure you don't really listen to music on the phone but when catching up on the latest news and watching streaming video it's nice not to have to use the headphones.
One of the biggest let down's for me with the Desire is the diabolical sound quality, so I wonder if this has been improved with the Desire Z (and HD but I am more interested in the Z).
Anyone had a hands on and can confirm / deny?
Offtopic : but i can watch videos & listen to music just fine with my desire's speakers :O
Or maybe it's just me? hmm.
Here's a little hands on review that quotes of the sound of the speaker. Though I dont know if it means anything.
"The speaker sounds loud and clear, although not that distinctive in the hubbub of a busy room... but then again, when are you going to use it in that environment, unless you want to be glared at on a train? That's right, glared.

The D'HD has dolby sound which should be Ace (Pun intended) :d

This is my concern, loud does not necessarily mean good quality - although many reviewers seem to disagree.

I don't care for it much regarding the headphone jack and that's where it's normally implemented in these devices. I use my tablet speakers 100%.
On the HP Touchpad, I really can't hear much of a difference in the speakers in terms of being "better" than the Iconia. So I can only assume it's the earphone jack that uses it. The speakers do get the benefit of the software on the Touchpad, and it sounds very slightly more clean if that makes any sense, but that's about it.
The headphones too don't sound that different from any other device, but that may be because I have a $75 pair of earphones. Maybe it'd make all the difference if I used some Beats brand headphones. At this point, I prefer wireless (Bluetooth) so that's what I spend my money on.
If they do it for the speakers, that'd be nice and I'd be interested in hearing the difference vs. other speaker systems. But if it's just the jack then it wouldn't help me, and they'd better include Beats earphones as obviously the effect is somehow lost if you use regular ones.
I have a feeling though, that all of this is mostly for marketing. I'm not saying there aren't some engineering differences but I don't think the actual sound it puts out will be as profoundly changed as people think it will (or should) be.

I own a pair of Beats Audio ear buds, and I prefer their quality of sound compared to the similarly priced Bose and Shure headphones I previously owned. They really make the best out of lossy compressed music files, which is everything when dealing with media on our tablet. Skeptical as I was, I have to admit that Dre endorsed a premium product. In my opinion, a quality audio driver could really utilize the Wolfson chip and produce terrific sound. I would love to hear how Beats Audio effects the sound of our Iconia.

You prefer them to Bose? Interesting. I've always liked Bose products as you can truly hear a big difference. I'll have to check out some Beats headphones sometime then. They make a bluetooth version which would be perfect for me, but it's $329. I'm not sure I feel comfortable dropping that on a pair of headphones I'll be using mostly during travel, plus I couldn't wear those to the gym. I agree that there's the potential to do it, but from what I've seen and heard the results are underwhelming. I also checked out Beats Audio on some of HP's newer laptops and it's somewhat better than normal speakers but isn't that great.
I have a hp notebook with it built in .I have to say awesome big sound from such small speakers.
Can I get sprinkles on my strawberry icecream please.
Giggles.
No!
For sure would be interesting, but just because your device has that "b" red logo, you would get a higher price also...
Aah Beats Audio, the Apple of the audio world. And for the same price as those headphones you could get some top of the range Sennheiser's!

bass on the TF? The sound on the TF is trash..... My speaker on my TF is about as good as my ipod touch.......
If you want bass response from a small speaker, you just won't get it with the Transformer. There's just enough speaker there for it to beep, chirp, and do whatever other sound effects apps need, but don't look for anything else.
On the other hand, something like the XMI Mini II will do that for you.

lol, you are right. I think I'm just trying to make sure they aren't defective. I want expecting them to sound that bad.
Bass response is great with headphones and external speakers hooked up to it. But the integrated speakers are way too small to provide any sort of meaningful range, plus they sit flush against the screen and as a result get somewhat muffled.
Even with headphones the TF just lacks quality sound.

Install a Voodoo Sound kernel then tell me that. I'm pretty impressed with the audio quality with voodoo.
no if you use vodoo control....
EDIT AHHA HA,SAME REPLY AT SAME MINUTE!
What this guy said, if your headphones don't give you good bass response after installing voodoo then your headphones suck. I have voodoo and a pair of beyerdynamic dt880s, and while the transformer can't drive them to their Max, with voodoo I can still get very good midrange and subbass response. It was enough for my girlfriend to have to take them off her ears after I showed her the difference (with and without) because the low frequencies were powerful. Her response was "I feel my brain hemorrhaging".
While voodoo is good, its no replacement for a proper headphone amp. You can make your own cmoy amp for 20-40 dollars, or buy one for 100-200. That will get your transformer booming.
Also there is a speaker hack for the transformer here.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-loud-sound-on-tablet-Asus-Transformer/
Have any of you actually heard any difference with any audio mod, I.e Beats Audio or Acid, on the N7? I'm a musician and have pretty developed hearing yet can't hear a difference whatsoever. Perhaps problems with installation?
are you listening through earphones?
if yes then change earphones or get a higher bitrate sound file.
IF NOT..
Nexus 7's speakers are fragile...
i mean mine lagged while watching a movie and a mid to high pitch sound was lagging to my speaker for about 5-6 seconds,
cracked and bursts my speakers.
My device was rooted..
Locked and OEM
RMA'ed!!!
got replaced
hahahahaha
Maybe a good set of headphone or iem needed to spot the differences.
