Best battery rom - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm going on a 14 hour trip on Wednesday. And I know there isn't a ROM that could get me the whole 14 hours.... but as close as possible will do.... so what is the best ROM for battery life.

And by which criteria you're going to compare the ROMs?
Do you think anyone tried multiple different ROMs, made a constant measured usage of different kinds, and measured the battery draw?
People will just answer you with their favorite ROMs, without any comparisons whatsoever. See the example above my post.
Any ROM will survive way over 14 hours if you won't be using the phone all the time.
No ROM will let you run 14 hours on GPS without charging.

Demonspeed miui will easily get 14+ hours with the demonspeed kernel on scary governor.
This isn't my favorite ROM but its realllllyyyy good.

the virtous unity rom is awesome! it looks good and runs for a good time

I've gotten 28 hours out of Virtuous Unity, so try that.

28 hours? Wow I was thinking with the sense running that would drain your battery.. well at least it did for me...what kernel were you running
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

i can easily get over 14 hours with virtuous unity...

No matter what ROM you're running, the phone will die in about six hours if it's not allowed to sleep at all and the screen remains on.

I put all my music on my iphone so more then likely my mytouch will only be used for texting and the occasional email/facebook checking. And incase of extreme boredom games.

In this case, any ROM will do.

[Q] Battery lag

Hey guys, so I'm an owner of a new MT4G, perm rooted, running Ice Glacier 1.1.6 with Smart Ass kernel. Everything's good but I've notice that my battery life stays at 100% for a long time, like maybe till noon and then starts dropping really fast and levels off to what looks like the current level. Have tried checking with Battery graph, but it didn't really help. Any ideas?
I saw the same on the CM7 build 34. You might want to check out a CM7 nightly 2 or later build.
I'm getting the same thing in Iced Glacier 1.1.6
Try whiping your battery stats from recovery.

That and also calibrate your battery for better results.

[Q] Battery Life

Hey I have a rooted mytouch 4g with virtuous fusion on it and the battery life is horrible...so i was sondering how can i get my battery passed 24 hrs...like others have been doing...i just need all the steps thanks!
Fauxs bfs lv kernel plus juice defender gets me close to 2 days of battery life on moderate use. Heavy use I have about 20% left at the end of the day

Did you mean cfs...idk I'm new to this while rooting/kernels thing

Nope bfs check the kernel thread out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079754
Seem to get the best performance vs battery with this setup.

ok my i flashed it but now my phone keeps getting stuck at the mytouch screen boot logo and repeating..did i do something wrong...this is the first kernel and i downloaded the low voltage kernel
You have to flash the first time kernel first. Should be right above the links. I did the same thing lol
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
oh ok...so as soon as i do the first time kernel then do the low voltage one or do i need to reboot my phone with the first time then go back into recovery and flash the low voltage
I usually tel it load, settle, reboot then reflash the .8 smooth as peach. Little pain when you flash a rom at least once a day. But worth it to me

thanks bro you really helped me out..i appreciate it...and so now im not gonna need a charger everyday lol
Good luck man.

I love galnet v5.2

But the battery drain isn't worth all the good things this rom has to offer. So sad to know I couldn't use my phone for long if this rom remained.

Ditto. I love MiUi but the battery drain makes it impossible to live with it.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Its like having the fastest and best looking car but you only to drive it for 5 mins before buying more gas. I'm thinking of buying a battery pack just to get normal usage out of this rom. Its about 30% below where I'm usually at and I haven't been doing much.

Use the official miui build from MIUIAndroid.com. I lose 1% battery an hour on that rom.

Okay ill give this a shot and see how well it works.
I am using GalnetMIUI v6 and I don't have any battery drain. With some txts, calls , bit gaming and surfing I can get about 30+ hours of battery.

I can totally confirm this. Only thing i'm missing now on MIUI is my language, but as this rom is more than perfect compared to Samsung rom i will stay with this. I've got some random reboots in 24 hours i flashed this but it's still good!

Better battery life from the link posted above. Its more reasonable now.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Love this rom,but the battery drain is insane.Last tried rom was hawkish prem 3 with galaxian kernel, battery lasted over 3 days moderate using.
you can try my rom iVastROM 2.0.
i post it today.
it's very fast and the battery lasts much

Battery Life on CM7 (AOSP versus Sense)

I've been running the latest nightly (20120722) for a few days now with less than stellar battery life. It seems that everytime I run an AOSP rom the main battery culprits appear to be cell and phone idle, where's with a Sense rom, it' the screen. I have a relatively new battery. I'd say moderate use, typically.
Anyone have suggestions on getting better battery life with CM7? I'm running the stock kernel at 245/800, ondemand, deadline. Also running V6 supercharger at 5.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've gotten 12+ hours today of cm7.2 7/15 nightly and barely at 50%
Did lots of recordings and such.
Dunno
I don't use the v6 script, or do any mods at all.
Just run it as is.
Stock battery too.

Yeah I've gone back to 7/15 to see if it's any better. I seem to remember it being better; I'll report back later today. Still curious why cell standby is the main battery eater on CM7 (or AOSP ROMs in general) as compared with say, SSX or newSENSE, which was the display...

Aosp shows true signal where Sense won't. So AOSP having a cell standy over display sounds about right. Sense always thinks it has signal and AOSP has no signal thanks to sprint. In my area Sprint blows, so that's what I *think

This is better.. I went back to the previous nightly (20120715) for a few days now. Still moderate use.
I'm currently running the stock kernel at 245/1.21, ondemand, deadline. Without V6 supercharger and I didn't flash the ICS theme either.
Perhaps the 20120722 nightly did not play well with my device.

If V6 SuperCharger is not setup correctly, or the setting is to high. Your Battery life can take a hit.

[Q] What rom for the glacier has the best battery life?

royal ginger cm 7 ? or what say you?
I had some beast battery life on evervolvs 4.2.2. I calibrated it though. I played subway surfers for 10 mins and was still at 98%

Glacier_One_V has the best battery life I've experienced, and I've been here for some time. Worth a spin if you haven't tried sense 4

Naa. Glacier one is a sense rom, and I have always had better battery life on a aosp rom than a sense rom.

Should have tried v1.3. You would have been amazed at the battery life.

Just show you know, battery calibration is a placebo. It's a waste of time. Just flash at 100% and call it good.

CM 7 with darkside kernel aosp by derek jay gets me wicked good battery life. I can easily get 2 days on lite use or 24 hours on heavy use. I don't play games just browse make calls and text a lot. I would go to another rom but I need stability and working wifi calling. No matter how hard I try I can't say no to my MyTouch 4G. Already replaced a cracked screen and now replacing the keypad for a broken and now missing home key.
try vipertouch, its not bad with battery life and maybe you will like it
