[Q] Battery lag - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, so I'm an owner of a new MT4G, perm rooted, running Ice Glacier 1.1.6 with Smart Ass kernel. Everything's good but I've notice that my battery life stays at 100% for a long time, like maybe till noon and then starts dropping really fast and levels off to what looks like the current level. Have tried checking with Battery graph, but it didn't really help. Any ideas?

I saw the same on the CM7 build 34. You might want to check out a CM7 nightly 2 or later build.

I'm getting the same thing in Iced Glacier 1.1.6

Try whiping your battery stats from recovery.

That and also calibrate your battery for better results.

G2 battery draining fast!!

Recently my G2 has been acting up. First problem is when I charge it to 100% and start using it, the battery is down to 0 in 2 hours. This has never happened before. So I charged it again and this time I powered it off because I was at work and didn't need to use it right away. I tried to power it on and the battery was drained when I had shut down my phone. This is with the Cyanogen and Gingervillian ROM. I have no clue what's going on.
Okay yea... There was somebody with the same issue. Also had that problem not to long ago. I found out it was the battery and I called T-Mobile and they sent me a new battery but that's my phone. So anyways have you tried to go back to stock?

I don't think it's the battery because I tried a second battery that I have as a backup and the same thing happened. I haven't tried going back to default yet though. Maybe I'll try that.

Try that do exactly as the app says and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't go back to stock and then re-flash any ROM later.

Is there any rouge apps open and draining CPU?
Sent from my SilverBullet "HTCDesireZ running CM7"
There shouldn't be. I put it back to factory and the same thing is happening. I've about given up on it.
I was having the same problem I fixed it on cyan 7.0.0...3 hours before battery even started to discharge.

[Q] Battery Life

Hey I have a rooted mytouch 4g with virtuous fusion on it and the battery life is horrible...so i was sondering how can i get my battery passed 24 hrs...like others have been doing...i just need all the steps thanks!
Fauxs bfs lv kernel plus juice defender gets me close to 2 days of battery life on moderate use. Heavy use I have about 20% left at the end of the day
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Did you mean cfs...idk I'm new to this while rooting/kernels thing
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App

Seem to get the best performance vs battery with this setup.

ok my i flashed it but now my phone keeps getting stuck at the mytouch screen boot logo and repeating..did i do something wrong...this is the first kernel and i downloaded the low voltage kernel
You have to flash the first time kernel first. Should be right above the links. I did the same thing lol
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
oh ok...so as soon as i do the first time kernel then do the low voltage one or do i need to reboot my phone with the first time then go back into recovery and flash the low voltage
I usually tel it load, settle, reboot then reflash the .8 smooth as peach. Little pain when you flash a rom at least once a day. But worth it to me
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
thanks bro you really helped me out..i appreciate it...and so now im not gonna need a charger everyday lol
Good luck man.

Weird MIUI battery stats

OK so I flashed MIUI about 4 days ago. I've been getting weird battery readings. I plug it in, it charges. If I restart it, it'll boost up about 20%. was at 80% just now an restarted and now I'm at 97% draining rapidly. I've wiped battery stats, drained the whole battery, and charged it up fully. Any help please??

Idk what happened here, my phone.double posted.
If I keep rebooting when its charging, would that speed up the process of the battery dying?

how exactly did you wipe/calibrate your battery?
I went into CWM, wiped battery stats, and then drained completely then charged fully. I can download a battery calibration app, should I try that?
hmmm seems you did it right, but a calibration app wouldnt hurt either. I recommend using Battery Calibration, I use it after a fresh rom flash everytime and it works very well
Yeah that is the app I'm using right now. Thanks for all help guys.

Battery Life on CM7 (AOSP versus Sense)

I've been running the latest nightly (20120722) for a few days now with less than stellar battery life. It seems that everytime I run an AOSP rom the main battery culprits appear to be cell and phone idle, where's with a Sense rom, it' the screen. I have a relatively new battery. I'd say moderate use, typically.
Anyone have suggestions on getting better battery life with CM7? I'm running the stock kernel at 245/800, ondemand, deadline. Also running V6 supercharger at 5.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've gotten 12+ hours today of cm7.2 7/15 nightly and barely at 50%
Did lots of recordings and such.
Dunno
I don't use the v6 script, or do any mods at all.
Just run it as is.
Stock battery too.

Yeah I've gone back to 7/15 to see if it's any better. I seem to remember it being better; I'll report back later today. Still curious why cell standby is the main battery eater on CM7 (or AOSP ROMs in general) as compared with say, SSX or newSENSE, which was the display...

Aosp shows true signal where Sense won't. So AOSP having a cell standy over display sounds about right. Sense always thinks it has signal and AOSP has no signal thanks to sprint. In my area Sprint blows, so that's what I *think

This is better.. I went back to the previous nightly (20120715) for a few days now. Still moderate use.
I'm currently running the stock kernel at 245/1.21, ondemand, deadline. Without V6 supercharger and I didn't flash the ICS theme either.
Perhaps the 20120722 nightly did not play well with my device.

If V6 SuperCharger is not setup correctly, or the setting is to high. Your Battery life can take a hit.

[Q] What rom for the glacier has the best battery life?

royal ginger cm 7 ? or what say you?
I had some beast battery life on evervolvs 4.2.2. I calibrated it though. I played subway surfers for 10 mins and was still at 98%

Glacier_One_V has the best battery life I've experienced, and I've been here for some time. Worth a spin if you haven't tried sense 4

Naa. Glacier one is a sense rom, and I have always had better battery life on a aosp rom than a sense rom.

Should have tried v1.3. You would have been amazed at the battery life.

Just show you know, battery calibration is a placebo. It's a waste of time. Just flash at 100% and call it good.

Thanks!
CM 7 with darkside kernel aosp by derek jay gets me wicked good battery life. I can easily get 2 days on lite use or 24 hours on heavy use. I don't play games just browse make calls and text a lot. I would go to another rom but I need stability and working wifi calling. No matter how hard I try I can't say no to my MyTouch 4G. Already replaced a cracked screen and now replacing the keypad for a broken and now missing home key.
try vipertouch, its not bad with battery life and maybe you will like it
