I was in the Soak test and got no help there. Still failing the update after downloading the file to SD card.

Can anyone decipher this for me and tell me what I need to do? Thanks in advance.

That usually means you have a file that does not match what they expected (the md5 doesn't match because the file was altered in some way).

Did you do any mods to the software you are currently running? Deodexing or themes, etc? I'm pretty sure the newer updates require a completely stock rom. Untouched.

When I first got the phone, I rooted it and changed the font. I never touched it after that.
Then I got into the first Soak test and it updated the SW and removed the root. Then I was in another Soak test after that and I got whatever update that had. Now I was in the third Soak test and it failed to update.
I have no idea what to do. I deleted TiBackup because that was pointless without the root. I deleted the Busybox because that wasnt working anymore. And I have no idea what to do with the Superuser app.

Why don't you flash a fresh 1.83 then soak from there?

Judging on what you posted, it looks like the update is failing because the OTA doesn't like the new font you've installed.

Anyone else want to state the obvious or can someone finally give me instructions on how to do it?

follow this:
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomot...SoftwareUpdateforATTATRIX4Gversion.4.5.91.pdf
this will RSD directly from MOTO
BUT you need PC

Can you re-root with Gingerbreak, remove the font, then try the update?
If you're going to use Gingerbreak, remember to back up your internal storage or unmount it right before rebooting.

I'm in the same boat.
I used one-click to unroot and it said it was successful but Titanium Backup was still able to get root rights. Not sure what to do here.
When ever in doubt, SBF - Back to stock 2.1
WARNING: ONCE YOU APPLY OFFICIAL FROYO 2.2 YOU CAN'T USE THIS METHOD ANYMORE
Thanks for the reply dr. I rooted but stuck with 2.1. Would that method do anything for me?
Using Bootstrap? If so, delete /system/bin/logwrapper then rename logwrapper.bin to logwrapper. I did this and it worked.
I was not using Bootstrap.
Currently attempting to fix this by reinstalling all of the bloatware that I uninstalled (per this: droidxforums.com/forum/froyo-2-2-news-rumors-wishes/7471-froyo-2-2-ota-install-issues.html).
I thought I had backed up the apps before uninstalling them with Titanium Backup but I was unable to restore them and it seems that it only backed up the application data and not the applications themselves before uninstalling. Funsies. That was an unroot, re-root, unroot, re-root carousel that I never want to go on again.
So... I went here (chadhaney.com/droidXDefault/516/) and downloaded all of the apps that I uninstalled, put them onto my SD card and then used Root Explorer to paste them into the system\app folder because I'm not so good with the command prompt stuff that you all use (if you do use this method, make sure to click "Mount R/W" at the top to get into read/write mode otherwise you can't paste into the system folder... took me way too long to figure out).
I've manually installed all of the apps while the OTA downloads (for some reason no 3G at the office) and will report back once it's finished and I have either Froyo, another failed attempt or a bricked phone. Exciting, no?
More fail. Will update with any useful information.
Yea i can't install it either

Can't update OTA to GB

Was z4 rooted then unrooted to upgrade to GB.
I'm running the stock rom right now. OTA update downloaded just fine. The phone resets like it's suppose to then half way through the update an exclamation point appears and it stops then boots normal.
After everything is loaded a box says, "Update Failed".
How can I manually update? I'm not really into the rooting thing. I called verizon and 3 different people said that there is no software update for the Droid X.
I figured if I had to tell THEM about the update that I wasn't gonna get anywhere with them.
Thanks

I've got a similar issue. OTA update failed (I un-rooted but didn't flash).
I then used RSD lite to flash the sbf back to 2.3.320. When I check for system updates it tells me there aren't any.
Do I just wait a day or so until my phone recognizes the update and downloads it or is there something else I'll have to do?

If you unrooted, you need to SBF back to 340. I used Z4 root/unroot like many others and it just wouldn't update, same as you, it downloaded but about 25% through it failed.
If anyone here needs SBF instructions, send me a pm and I will show you a great site to help you out

Yeah, he was referring to lamarrk's post. For you, SBF'ing back to .340 should do it. Some updates have failed in the past if the phone was ever rooted, since unrooting it apparently doesn't completely remove all traces of the rooting.

This error comes up after the download completes and it says "preparing update" I don't have any extra Recovery installed. Completely stock 3.1 A500
just an idea
Go intto settings, manage apps, all apps - find the system updater and clear it's data, reboot, should reprompt download and may work.
May not. Worth a shot
so is it pull down loh for anybody in Europe/US yet?
Anyway, regarding invalid update I finally managed to pass the invalid system message. BUT, when it rebooted and started updating suddenly it stopped and showed exclamation traffic sign over droidbug in a middle of the updating.
Rebooted and it just reported failed update.
So I guess we have to be patient, eventually it will work.
For those who are on stock rom and never rooted, I recommend to root, then CWR and backup, cause if it happened that I could not boot after unsuccessful update there is backup, so no sweat.

[Q] [A200] I think I'm bricked.

This is coming from my thread on the AcerTabletForums, as I'm not receiving any help over there now.
OP: I just got this tablet on Tuesday, and I installed CWM today (I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it yesterday). I started wiping data 34 minutes and 15 seconds ago, and it hasn't finished. In fact, the progress bar isn't moving at all. I don't want to mess anything up, so what do I do?
Update 1: I ended up just turning it off, then using fastboot to flash the stock recovery.
Once that happened, then it appeared to start working, then displayed the Android character on his back, with a red triangle and containing an exclamation mark. <-- was told that was normal.
Update 2: Seems to freezing with that when I choose Factory Reset. Should I do something else first?
Actually, it is moving.. just slowly. <-- switched to using TWRP 2.1.4 recovery.
Update 3: Been running for a loooong time (1 hour and 50 minutes), and although the bar keeps moving, I can't tell if it's anywhere near done.
Update 4: Let it run for 8 hours, nothing happened. I think I found out the problem though. I looked in the console when TWRP starts, and this comes up:
Code:
E:Unable to mount /data
E:Unable to mount /sdcard
How can I fix it?

After modifying the updater-script to bypass certain things, I managed to flash enough of the ROM to re-lock the bootloader, and hence un-root the device. Looks like I'll likely be sending it in to Acer for repairs, unless anyone has some other suggestion.

Thanks for your help, but I fixed it. Well, sort of. I basically still have the boot issue, but was able to get rid of any "marks" (relocked the bootloader and un-rooted), so I'm either going to be giving it to Future Shop or Acer, since it's still under warranty.

[Q] Can you install the 4.1.2 OTA on an unlocked phone with CWM installed?

I got the ota the other day and debated installing it because my M is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked and I have flashed ClockworkMod recovery. I searched for a while to see what others were saying and didn't really find anything of note so I decided to go ahead and run the install. When the phone rebooted into recovery and tried to install the update, it gave me the following Error: E: Failed to verify whole-file signature. Then there was an option to apply unsigned update (or zip, I can't remember the wording exactly). I chose not to do this and went back in the recovery menu and rebooted back into system. The phone booted normally and then immediately rebooted on its own back into recovery to try to install the update again, ending in the same results. This happened 2-3 more times before I finally formatted the Cache Partition through cwm which ended the bootloop (not sure that you can really describe that as a bootloop since it was actually doing what it thought it should be). My question is this, is it safe to go ahead and install the unsigned update via CWM? I have also since seen threads stating that if you had removed some of the bloatware apps, that the update would fail. I have removed many of these unneeded apps, should I reinstall them? I have seen a link or two to the bloat apks...
Having a unlocked bootloader doesn't matter. You just need to be stock 4.1.1 bloatware and all.
what he said^
you can update it with cwm but you have to have all the crapware that came stock still present.
Do you have to unroot first to get it to install? I have TWRP recovery on mine and can't get the update to install.

Well I tried it and it failed the check for the Amazon MP3 app. I reinstalled it from the play store but according to another post I found later this doesn't work because it isn't installed to the /system/app directory. The only way around this that I have seen is to use the RAZR M utility to return back to out of box status and start over. Not worth it to me but if anyone has another idea, I am all ears...

Well I tried it and it failed the check for the Amazon MP3 app. I reinstalled it from the play store but according to another post I found later this doesn't work because it isn't installed to the /system/app directory. I RSDed back to 4.1.1 because mine hung on the clock app. I had installed the 4.2 clock.

You could try grabbing the apk from /data/app and moving it to /system...
Or grab it from one of the many /system dumps around here...
Someone should turn the OTA into a flashable zip from CWM/TWRP that doesn't check for that.
I may do that...

I had the same thought about moving the apk to the system/app directory and did just that. My expectation was that I would still get the error but for a different app since I just tested with the one that had been throwing the error but it didn't change, still gave the error for the amazon mp3 app even though it was successfully installed in the correct directory. Thanks for the thought though. If you could turn it into a flashable zip, I would be much appreciated. I would love to do that myself but I have no idea how. I know just enough through trial and error (and a lot of forum reading) to be dangerous...
After installing 4.1.2, I can no longer fastboot back to 4.1.1 or 4.0.6. They put in some sort of backrev check.

There is a 4.1.1 system dump here. Download it, transfer any missing apps in /system/app over to your phone.
The reason you have to have those is that the current one from the playstore will be different, causing the update check to fail and abort.

I'm pretty sure you need an unlocked boot loader to downgrade.

I did. It fixed an issue where my phone wasn't booting, but it did not revert me to 4.1.1. Just found your comment in the other thread about modifying the xml file.. I'll try that next. Thanks.

That worked at getting the system apps that I had removed back into the /syste/app directory and now the update appears to be installing... Will let you know if it works.
*UPDATE*
Well that worked like a charm, update installed successfully, root access maintained, cwm allowed me to prevent reflash of stock recovery so all is right with the world... Thanks you guys!

Thank you! I had missing Amazon_IMDb.apk, Facebook.apk, Kindle.apk, PlusOne.apk files. Copied these to my phone and updated successfully!
