Can't get into APX mode - Eee Pad Transformer General

Can not get into APX mode. Tried vol -/pwr, then vol + and wait for the droid with !, then vol+/pwr. Never brings up APX in device manager.

Same problem here. I have used NVflash a few weeks ago, so it did work at that moment, and I saw it in the Device Manager. But now I can't get my Transformer in APX anymore, nothing to see in the Device Manager. Somebody can help me with that?
Update :
- Find the Nvidia USB APX drivers (Google it!)
- Hold Volume+ AND Volume- AND Power at the same time.
This will bring the Transformer in APX mode.
It worked for me!

1. Plug the device on the computer
2. Put the device in APX
3. Go into device manager, find the NVIDIA thing
4. Manually install drivers with the nvflash.zip package
5. done.

i try to put the device in apx but nothing appears on the computer.
I had the same problem as you and all, but now i try to unbrick it and as soon as i connect the device to the computer, it turns on and stays stuck on the boot screen unless i turn it off. and if i try to turn it on in APX mode, nothing seems to happen, the device doesnt turn on and nothing appears on the computer.

After your TF is plugged into the PC...just keep holding down the power button until you are sure the TF is off....it took a LOOOONNNGGG time when mine was bootlooped and I had to try it several times but finally it happened.
then on your PC; open up device manager and tree-out the USB part to see if the NVidia drivers are showing...if not....no problem.
Hold down the power button and the volume+ button for at least 5 or 6 seconds...you should see your device manager refresh with the information.
When that happens; you are now in APX mode. if you accidentally hit the power/volume+ again...it will toggle you OUT of APX mode. No problem, just hit the buttons again and you are toggled back in.
Have patience...it will work.

i jusr got into apx mode thi morning you just need toue device manager and force install the usb drivers u download.
This post is really jst a testfor Tapa.

a500 stuck on booting kernel

first thanks to all
friend gave me a a500 to unbrick- have no history on it.
been reading and searching for days with no luck.
the only thing i can get done is loading boot loaders in apx mode, but recovery's never get on(maby they do).
i can change the boot loader to anyone i try.
the device will not boot past the acer screen.
when trying to boot or boot into recovery from skrilax_cz bootloader it gets stuck at "booting recovery kernel image" and their she stays.
i am assuming that the kernel is toast. i have tried to search to replace the kernel but have no idea what rom is on, or a guide to help me thru in apx mode.
in apx mode i have watch it successfully watch it write all the images in root-3.2.1-V4.7z
now i am just confused! lol
anyways anyone got some ideas for me?
and thanks again
If you have no issue getting the bootloader to load, and you are on ver 3 or 4, or higher, have you tried "Fastboot" to load a recovery image?
Holding Vol+ and PWR should put you into fastboot mode.
The you can start fastboot from the SDK. Should be able to do it that way to flash a recovery image.
If you install a recovery, and you reboot, and then find the recovery is not there, it's probably because you didn't delete the boot-recovery file from the stock rom after installing. Every time you boot, your recovery gets replaced by a stock acer recovery, which is useless.

i have skrilax bootload v8 on.
in recovery i tried installing these 3 roms:

Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-DEODEXED-FULLROOT.zip
and a jelly bean rom.
i still get stuck at "booting primary kernel image.

That's the good one. My "gut" says that you may have an issue with the ICS bootloader. If it were me, I'd start over and ensure that you have the correct SBK...make double sure. Flash the recovery again in fastboot. Test that you can get into recovery through fastboot or the Power+voldown method. Once in recovery, format/wipe everything...except the sdcard of course. Flash a rom that will work with the unlocked ics bootloader.
Another thing to try is to flash twrp 2.0. as your recovery. But I've read that recovery is causing some issues with some folks. Still worth a shot though.
If you still can get it to boot. Start the process over again with a honeycomb bootloader.
Good luck.
i double check my sbk and it was ok, tried a few recoverys all went on fine except the touch screen versions.
does wm recovery v5.5.0.x(thor2002ro/digetx rev1.7.3 icconia a500x touch buttons supposed to work? this might be the reason if the touch screen is fooked. when it starts the kernel on boot i see a quick screen flick then it gets stuck, same reactions on touch screen versions of the recoverys.
little different learning curve then my xoom, bit still enjoying learning a diffent device.
Yes, the buttons in the lower right should work. You can also use swipe gesture...swipe up and down in the menu, swipe right to "enter".
Have you tried going back to a HC BL yet? Maybe the repartitioning of the ICS BL just didn't take.
thanks thanks your your help the the touch screen is broke and is the cause.

Instead of using NVFlash to install recoveries, you have some options. Fastboot
Boot V8 Bootloader to Fastboot Mode, plug into PC. Go to the Android SDK on your PC, open a command window in the folder with fastboot.exe (copy your recovery.img file there also) Then type;
Fastboot Flash Recovery nameofyourrecovery.img
The "touchscreen recoveries" are indeed a bit wonky. Sometimes you have to go slow when selecting them.

Similar issue
So i recently tried to update to ics bootloader, and i ended up with skrilax_cz's bootloader V6 (0.03.14-mul).
CWM worked at first and i flashed a rom which i despise, after which point recovery ceased working.
The rom still boots.
Now when i boot into recovery either by holding the up arrow, or the down arrow and selecting recovery from menu it just gets stuck at "booting recovery image"
I can get into fastboot, but i cannot get into apx. I read somewhere that in skrilax_cz it's called debug mode, but debug mode is enabled and i'm not really sure how to tell the bootloader to go to apx mode (i've tried the reset button power button thing).
Does anyone know how to put this thing into apx mode, or how to flash a bootloader through the rom or through fastboot? Any other solutions are welcome, my end goal is to have a functioning recovery.
Thanks

Since you have a working rom the easiest way might be to try Gersma's AfterOta tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675939&highlight=afterota.
Be sure to save your SBK if you don't already have it.
Also you could try Blackthund3r's APXtool. It should boot your tablet into APX mode while the rom is running. Either one should get you back on track.

Thanks for the fast reply. I probably should have mentioned that i had tried both those tool and neither could get into apx. Blackthund3rs 'doesn't detect an apx device' and afterota chuggs along as if it is working, but it doesn't do anything other than cause my rom to optomize the programs again (i suspect it is unable to get the device into apx as neither i or blackthund3r's tool can).

You've got usb debugging checked I imagine... right? If you do and can use ADB you might consider installing recovery that way.
Also have you tried Acer Recovery Installer by Euclid's Brother? It is in the play store. You should be able to get a custom recovery that way.
If neither of those work I think that you might want to read timmydean's EUU thread and see if that might help you out.

Ok, have you tried this? Seems you're wasting your time trying all the one click tools.
Boot your tab Vol+ and PWR. If you have the skrilax_cz bootloader installed, it should boot into the boot menu. Select "Fastboot". You probably aren't going to see a bunch of bells and whistles, just at the top it says "fastboot mode".
Copy the CWM 1.7.2 or 1.7.3 image file you downloaded into your Android SDK Platform tools folder where fastboot.exe is located. (you should already have the Android SDK installed) Open a CMD window in the same folder as fastboot.exe (this should be in your platform tools folder. Plug your tab in (make sure windows recognizes it) Then type in the CMD window:
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img (where nameofrecovery is the recovery image file you are flashing)
Should work. This is why Skrilax_cz gave the bootloader fastboot capability a long time ago around version 3 or 4. Sometimes these 1 click tools just don't co-operate. Using fastboot is by far the easiest. As long as your Acer drivers are installed properly.
Also for your info:
Note that you can only install ICS roms. Forget HC. Also, you must do wipes. Most of the "animation-loop" issues are either because;
a. Wrong Bootloader-Kernel combination. (HC bootloader and ICS kernel, or, ICS bootloader and HC kernel)
b. Data was not fully wiped before installing a rom.
c. Other issues could be incompatible Recovery program. (see b)
Having the wrong or a buggy Recovery can also hang at "loading recovery image" This has happened in the past, and should be easy to fix by doing the initial steps. "should be".
Also, a corrupted file/files on the EXT SD Card may also play a factor. I advise backing up those files, format the card, then try fresh. You can always copy the files back later. Except for old recovery files. Some are not compatible with other Recovery systems.

[GUIDE][nvFlash]The Chickens Guide to Flashing the bootloader manually

here is a guide and some pix so you can see what 'should' happen when using civato's nvFlash manual method.
Get yr 15 digit CPUID - not your 11/13 digit ICS serial no.
the correct uid is VITAL, using the wrong one can cause you problems.
all righty you've made the decision to flash the patched bootloader and install a custom recovery and one of the many custom ICS/JB roms -
1. Ensure both Acer and adb drivers are installed
2. Retrieve HC CPUID
3. Generate your SBK from Blackthund3rs site: http://a500bootloaderflash.tk/sbkcalc/
4. Download yr ROM of choice and put it on yr external sd card
5. Put your tab in APX Mode manually or with apxFlashTool
6. Flash the Bootloader/Custom Recovery
7. Reboot to Custom recovery and do a full data wipe/format
8. Flash your chosen ICS/JB ROM
9. For good measure reboot to recovery and do another full wipe
10. Reboot and enjoy ICS/Jellybean
nb: I know it sounds overkill for all these data wipes/formats but in my experiences and alot of others on here multiple wipes ensure a smooth
running rom
Prep Work
To enter APX mode - Turn your tab off then press and hold in the Reset button(with paper clip).
Do not release it.
Press and hold power for 3 secs and then release it.
After another second, release the reset button.
Download V8-UNL-ICS-HC-bootloader-MULTI-cwm and extract the files for the manual nvFlash
If you are coming from HC then d/l your ICS/JB rom of choice to yr ext sdcard
WARNING: at Step 7. Do not "press any key to continue..." UNLESS yr tab is in bootloader mode, doing so causes alot more issues and
necessitates a rollback to HC if you continue....
*****************************************************
ok here we go:
Step 1. You must enter APXMode FIRST
Your Windows PC should then detect your device and install the APX driver. You should then have an APX USB device installed.
If you do not have an APX USB device listed in your system tray, you cannot proceed.
The screen of your tablet is black and the Power Light is ON
Step 2. Once yr tabs screen has turned black and the power lite is on then
Step 3. Right click on the v8.bat file from civs package and choose "Edit"
Go thru the file and remove any "Cls" lines if there are any - this allows you to see what the flash is doing.
Save the changes thenRun the bat file - i'm using V6-3.bat in this example but if you are using v8 it will be named v8.bat
NOTE: You will see an instruction on the opening screen to "delete recovery from boot.p file"
On a reboot, this file overwrites your newly flashed custom recovery with the Acer Stock Recovery, not what we want!!
Please check /system for the boot.p file - if its there then delete or rename it b4 going on
Step 4. Enter your SBK
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 5. Your tab will display this - "System Information" Screen
Here you can see clearly your one and only cpuid!!!! Or 'chip uid' as it is named here.
Warning: If this system info is not displayed you run the risk of getting stuck in apx mode....
Close out of the command window and disconnect your USB and check yr SBK and/or the Acer USB Driver is showing in your "Safely remove hardware" icon
if it isnt reinstall the Acer Drivers
Step 6. All systems are go!! Go ahead and press any key...when your tab is in bootloader mode
7. WAIT for your tab to display "Acer Iconiaa500 APX Mode"
this is 'bootloader mode' where the flash needs to take place,
then press any key...
if you carry on without yr tab showing this message...
then you will softbrick and to fix that you will need to downgrade to HC and
you will lose all your data
There are 'usually' only 3 reasons you will not see the "Acer Iconia a500 APX Mode" message
1. The Drivers are failing to install correctly
2. Incorrect cpuid
3. Getting stuck at Formatting/partition errors is the ".bct issue" apxFlashTool 0.4 fixes this
Step 8 the flash begins!!!
the flash will take about 30 secs at most
on your tab you will see in big white letters the word PASS
in smaller red letters "Reboot the Device"
So power down yr tab and reboot into your new recovery and backup your system then flash your ICS/Jellybean Rom.
Congratulations you are no longer a chicken
EDIT: I've tried not to put too much info in here to keep things relatively easy to read - if you think there is info that should be in here just let me know and I'll add it

For info on the drivers and retrieving yr cpuid see this guide here but basically you'll need the acer drivers from acer support page and the android usb/adb drivers, these drivers ensure yr tab can communicate with yr pc and can be d/l in a zip file from post in the link above.
The SBK (Secure Boot Key) is generated from the cpuid. Go to vaches site (the link is provided in the nvflash as u can see in the first pic above) Its as simple as entering yr cpuid in the box and it will give you a number formatted like this:
0x000D0000 0x00000001 0x0AAACCCC 0x0000000 - this is your SBK

I realize that I have probably given too much information and I apologize for that. Any help at all would be much appreciated!
Also: This was done using option 3, but I tried it with option 4 as well and got the same error. In step 5 it did not show System Information, but I checked the acer divers, the safely remove hardware and my SBK using different generators and it all checks out.

you dont say what rom you were on or whether your tab was running ok before you tried the flash??
Normally if you don't see the system info window things dont go well after that!
But in saying that it seems you've made sure everything else is right, and as long as when you put your tab in apx mode you saw the "acer download mode" displayed you should be good!!
partitioning errors such as yours are "normally" easy to fix by running timmydeans root tool - there is a link to it in the root guide in my sig.
Download it and put your tab in apx mode, connect your usb cable and then run the pbj20.exe ??
you should get asked to enter your CPUID(not the sbk!!) take off the 0x at the beginning if its there
also: in the cpuid guide (in my sig)theres a link to a short guide by "lcd047" how to use timmydeans to repartition and flash the bootloader all in one go - might wanna take a look at that while you're waiting for the download....

Still Stuck
Right sorry. I am sunning the stock Acer ICS 4.0.3 rom, with the stock ICS 4.0.3 recovery image and ICS bootloader 3.12-ICS.
I tried running the file PBJ20upgrade.exe with my tablet pluged in in APX mode, but it told me to make sure my tablet was unpluged and that if a new hardware window opened to close it (as if it was going to install drivers or something). I did this and clicked continue but a window poped up sating EUUs had stopped. I traied it also leaving my tablet plugped in, same results.
If it is of significance I am using the Acer drivers verson: USB Driver_Acer_1.06.1500_A30H_A500. The other version: USB_Acer_1.00.0524_A30HA31HA32H_A (the one that blackthunder has you download) would not install saying that no previous version was found.
Myt have put u a bit wrong there. There's 2 ways to run it...if via .exe don't connect yr cable and wait for steps to run via apex mode.
If running lcd047 steps... Put in apx mode and run the bat file in the image folder
Is that bit clearer??

Hardware fault probably, especially so if none of the re-partitioning tools work i.e tdv4/babsector and you're positive you're following instructions correctly

Sure I followed these instructions:

This will reset your tablet to the HC ROM, HC bootloader and (I believe) Flash a custom recovery. If you are wanting to flash 4.2 or 4.1 though, you are going to want your ICS boot loader back, so just follow the instructions in this post to get an unlocker version and it should work. Also I was having trouble getting my CPUID after I reset my tablet back to HC, but I went ahead and tried the method in the post using the same SKB and it worked.
Good luck
Thanks for the tips man, its awesome
Great guide, worked perfectly to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239476 :good:
Thanks

here is a guide and some pix so you can see what 'should' happen when using civato's nvFlash manual method.

Is there any cure for being "stuck in APX mode"?

NVFlash help BL

I have been trying to install the patched ICS bootloader, I have tried APX flashtool, afterota, and manual. When I try manual I get this:
Flashing bootloader: bootloader_v8.bin ...
Nvflash started
[resume mode]
Formatting partition 4 please wait.. Command Execution failed cmd 13, error 0x12
0002
FAILED!
command failure: format partition failed (bad command)
bootloader status: unknown operation (code: 1) message: flags: 0
Nvflash started

Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?
It successfully enters "Acer Iconia APX Mode", I have tried on two different Windows 7 x64 machines. I have verified my sbk and it is correct.
(this is probably supposed to be under q&as but it doesn't seem very active)
Thanks,
JBYoung
Im not sure but i also have a problem. Even when i am in apx mode it wont recognise it. Maybe its the drivers. I suggest that u check ur drivers too.

Under android Acer Iconia Tab A500, in APX mode Acer USB Boot-recovery driver.
Got it fixed had to re partition with timmydeans euu

Bricked and stranded A500

I have an ancient stock HC 3.2 and decided it would be nice to update. Forgetting completely about the fact that I had the ancient honeycomb bootloader as well, I loaded up an ICS update.zip and flashed. Now I'm stuck with a broken tab that displays Boot verification failed on startup. I have access to APX mode, but my computer does not seem to be cooperating with the drivers.
What to do?
Same kind of Problem
I have an A500 with OTA 4.01 o it.
I rooted it successively
Added bootloader ICS - worked fine - could see loader on reboot - used afterOTA
Backuped rom onto SD
Went in to recovery mode and installed JellyBean X rom - I wiped every thing including cache's
Installed fine, went to reboot and nothing.
Power light goes on and that's it.
I have tried several utilties but most need the computer to see A500 as a device or say failed, or do nothing
The "ejectAPX" shows on the eject hardware ion, and ACER USB drivers show up in device manager
I have tried resets, volume buttons etc - no go
The A500 screen did come up with "Acer Download Mode", but that as far as I get.
Any detailed help would be appreciated!

stage one ok
stage 2 just hangs at 3 quaters the way - I waited over 5 minutes

used babsector and it worked
got back into recovery mode
Been there
Been there (I think I have a messed up reset button actually), but the only thing I can get my tablet back to life on is timmyDean´s root-3.2.1-V4.7z find in the forums extract the files then in the image folder you will find nvflash run the flash.bat but it reformats your flash etc. and brings you back to HC 3.2.1.
I have been through all of the tools and this was the only one that boots to android when its finish, which I need since I think my reset is stuck.
I needed to create ubuntu usb stick and run eppe's code to get my CPUID might help with usb connection issues to use similar too.
Then I was working with nvflash --read and the v8 bootloader stuff (since before my tablet soft bricked I was OTA ICS full stock), and was able to read off my user data with nvflash partition before I did the flashing. That way I saved all of my tablet pictures and video etc. (loop mounted the image read from that partition in ubuntu and was able to pull out any of my user data).
To get my data I used V8-UNL-ICS-HC-bootloader-MULTI-cwm.zip see more at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
Then I did:
nvflash --bct bct.bct --setbct --bl bootloader_apx.bin --configfile flash.cfg --odmdata --sbk %MYSBK% --sync
nvflash --resume --read 2 mybct.bct
nvflash --resume --getbct
nvflash --resume --getpartitiontable mypartitiontable.txt
nvflash --resume --read 13 UDA_raw3.img
I wish I would have backed up all of my partitions that way but I think I will get the replacement part first and then rebuilt the tablet.
Hope that helps
Thanks
What I ended up doing was creating and formatting partitions with Babsector - as opposed to Badsector, which didn't work
The used A500 APXflash
Then installed Jellytime X
The Jellytime was not working properly so I used root-3.2.1 V4 to take it back to 3.21, then OTA to 4.0.1
Root it again and then I stopped.. think I will stay with this rom, until 4.2 is super stable.
I think I did this procedure about 4 times in 2 days, as every rom that I tried either trashed the partition or boot loader, or didn't run properly.
I was lucky as I used afterOTA as part of flash the bootloader, and it saved a txt file with all my cpu info...

Then read info on how to run babsector

Two things...
1.
According to the babsector output, it's using an hc boot loader, It's a bit weird actually as babsector flashes skrilax_cz patched boot loader, not hc???? so not sure how you got that....
2.
your tab is waiting for you to put it into apx mode...Once done, press any key to continue...from memory, your tab will vibrate and boot into 'bootloader mode'...it will display 'Acer a500 download mode' so it can flash recovery and BL.
Boot directly to recovery, do a full data/cache format and flash your chosen ics rom.
I'd also be tempted to run the b.bat file after this since you've had issues and even another wipe to be safe...then
you should be good to boot to your new rom!!
Sent from my HTC_PN071 using Tapatalk
It's not that I don't have a problem loading a different rom, it's that when I restart the device it goes into APX again. So I flash it, and again back into APX after a restart.
Does that make sense? Or did I miss a point?
I've put TWRP on, and flashed a update.zip ICS version (from here: hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049778 ) also and after TWRP restart's it goes back into APX.
I can Use Blackthund3r's Flash tool and this: EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1.a500apx and get it to boot after flash, but as soon as I restart the device, back to APX.

Looks like you didn't fully run babsector
here are some notes from the procedure
2. put tab in apx by holding reset (small pinhole bottom right side)
and pushing power for 3-4 sec. - then release reset approx 1 sec. later
the screen should be blank and power button should be lit - plug in usb to pc.
2. Run a501 A.bat
3. run recovery ->WIPE -> "Advanced wipe ->System (only)and swipe to wipe.
4. Run a501 B.bat
reboot to recovery and install rom and gapps
1. Can u fully run babsector/nvflash without getting stuck waiting for "bootloader mode"?
2. The output you posted clearly shows hc bootloader. You
cannot flash any ics+ rom without skrilax_cz b/l.
3. The euu u flashed is hc. So you're sorta going round in circles.
get the patched bootloader on there using babsector. If your tab is stuck on apx mode (black screen, led on) power off then manually put your tab in apx mode and ' press any key', if you don't see download mode displayed on screen then we have a problem here.
If you do get download mode then after the flash, boot to recovery and do the wipes and flash your Rom.
You must do things in this specific order and as posted, the Acer is a finnicky beast that will throw a hissy fit and do things like get stuck in apx mode - why? b/c the nvflash operation has not completed properly and it's trying to tell you that... but your first priority is the patched bootloader...

After this I power off the device and power it back up to a BLACK Display, My computer shows it in device manager: "Acer USB Boot-recovery driver"
Am I missing a step between that and restarting it?
And Thanks for the help so far.
Sorry been awhile since I've done this...after PASS, power down and boot straight to recovery, wipe, flash Rom.
Power down. Connect to pc, manually enter apx. run b.bat. power Down, enter recovery wipe data and caches, don't wipe system this time else you'll wipe the ics Rom you flashed.
Reboot.
You should see skrilax_cz bootloader screen on boot, fingers crossed!

This is where it doesn't happen. I try to boot into recovery, but I get nothing but a black screen.
What I do:
Turn off the tablet.
Hold the volume down key (the part of the volume rocker, which is closer to the edge of the tablet) + power key.
The tablet should boot in the recovery mode, but I get a black screen and the computer (connected via usb to the tablet) shows I'm in Acer USB Boot-recovery driver.
nothing on the tablet. Weird, I couldn't find anything else like this on the forums.
K if its not booting to recovery the flash isn't working for some reason. The drivers look right...
Try booting to fastboot pwr+vol UP..should see skrilax_cz bootloader menu..

Disconnect from your pc after PASS..press and hold power button until the led goes off then try recovery....you'll need to pwr down like this for before entering apx mode too, don't rely on fact your tab is in apx mode b/c the screen is black and the led is lit...I'm sure it should vibrate when it's in apx.

Disconnected usb after pass, power off by holding power up to 4 seconds, waited a few seconds. Verified off by removing power.
Powered back on, White light on the power button, and no display.
Tried powering off, Vol + and power= no change, Vol - and power=No change.
Plugged it into the pc, and I get the ACER USB Boot-Recovery Driver, but no display.

Not that I think this has any bearing but what do you mean pls?? The tab is powered down when the led is off.
Do you get an orange led when it's charging??
Ok, apparently there are issues with the later versions of twrp, so run babsector again to get cwm....
Remember, you have no OS on there yet, so don't try and boot until you've flashed a Rom - try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935582 pls read the install instructions...
See how u go

Meaning: power is disconnected, LED in power button shuts off. Charging light is on when it's charging and orange (currently full right now)
I'll try CWM next and follow your instructions in the 4.1.2 link. thanks
Ok so I loaded using BlackThund3r's flash utility:
Skrilax_CZ v6 bootloader, and Thor 1.7.3 recovery
When I do it that way it auto reboots into Recovery (no need to shutdown)
And I loaded that CM10-FLEX_V6Supercharged_Rev3.4.zip to a Micro SD and renamed to update.zip
Loaded it all the way through, got it to the main screen. Worked, Did a reboot=Booted
did a shutdown and then power on= Black screen and APX mode when I plugged it into the pc after not getting a vibrate.
I know the bootloader is still installed as I tried the AFTER OTA without my SBK and it processed it (Was a little shocked but happy something is sticking) If that info helps.
Tried the same thing with the v8 loader from Skrilax_CZ = same result
Anything to try next?
Flash the Rom normally, do not rename to update.zip.
AfterOta is only if you have ota'ed from hc to ics and on stock.
So I'd reflash the Rom first, then reboot to recovery and wipe data/media, you have to enable this option. Then reboot.
If still stuck,
Go to the root guide in my sig, there's a section in there re stuck in apx mode....2 things to try run the nvflash -- go command, and safely remove apx device.
if that doesn't work I'm outta suggestions, last resort you can try fastboot ...fastboot boot boot.img command, see if you can boot to the os . all the info is in that post.

Tried all that, except the fastboot stuff, but I even tried the nvflash processes that was mentioned.
I can boot the roms, I even tried that link's "Downgrade using tdv4" And it all works to flash it, boot's the rom, and everything. I can reboot the A500 via commands, adb, and fastboot, however if I shut down the A500 or power it off it's back to black screen (nothing on the screen) with apx mode available to me when I plug in the usb to the pc.
I left it a while today while in Honeycomb and the screen would flash on for a moment with the lock screen up, then it would be gone, wait like 10 seconds and it would do it again and repeat unless I plugged in the usb to the pc, then it wouldn't ever do that.
This A500 was stock when I got it, the owner had no clue it could be rooted, or updated in anyway, just one day he turned it on and it was black so I got to play with it. It took a few weeks of research to find out how to get the SBK then be able to flash it to try to get it to recover.
Would there be something that would make it stick in APX mode after every power off?

Ok figured it out!
Did a battery pull, and the good old Press the power for 1 minute, and then plug in the battery and test.
Comes up every time now. Currently it's stock so i'm going to put CM10-FLEX_V6Supercharged_Rev3.4.zip back on.
Unbelievable!!! What made you think of doing that lol...well done for not giving up

I wanted to open the device and at least re-eat the ribbon cables, make sure the reset button wasn't stuck or something.
Thought while it was a part there's no harm in doing your typical "laptop" power reset. (I'm a computer tech, I do it usually once a week with phones and laptops for customers)
So you just disconnected the battery or pull it out....any tips for those wanting do the same??
