Hello all,
My touch hd's screen isn't working properly, therefore I contacted HTC itself and they told me to book for a repair; where they would repair the device for free, only if doesn't have water damage, hardware damage and rooted software.
I'm worried I won't be eligible for this free repair, as I've used ROMs from this site.
So, Is there a way I can factory RESET the ROM to 6.0 or 6.5 (Official Update is acceptable according to HTC but NOT rooted)?
And, If I manage to put the official/un-rooted update, can HTC find out that I've used cooked ROMs on the device ?
you can find the latest 6.1 rom at HTC page (www.htc.com) under support.

Is the colour issue resolved by pressing power on/off button?
If so, your issue is your SPL doesn't match your rom.
If you restored your stock spl, you will need to flash a stock rom with matching spl
What is your current SPL?

Have Touch HD from Orange.
Tried to update ROM from HTC site.
Put SNo in but would not reconise it.
Is there a work round or a copy on your site that works?
Orange Touch seems to have minimum Orange changes anyway in ROM.
Or as Orange its own ROM upgrade hiding some where.
I also have a Touch HD from Orange. Although I got this when it was first released so appears to have no Orange software installed, my SN is also not recognised on the HTC website. I called Orange about the ROM upgrade who said they have not released one and weren't able to tell me if they have any plans to. They also said that if I install any ROM other than one from Orange themselves that it will invalidte the warranty. I explained to them that as the new ROM includes various fixes they should release it - it's like having Windows XP/Vista and not being able to download any bug fixes.
From reading various messages on this forum I believe there are workarounds by using a different serial in order to get the ROM from the HTC site although I'm not happy about invalidating my warranty so I'm going to hold off for the time being and hope that Orange release something soon.
Easy workarounds guys if you read the forums & wiki
You can load USPL or latest Hard SPL (see signature) and then flash new roms on HTC site or cooked roms on here. Read up on both of these first in wiki
If you ever need to return phone you can return to your stock HTC rom. All stock roms can be found here.
If you are unsure about procedure to flash roms you can read up in wiki or follow cRaCKwHoRe's guide (see signature)
Hope this helps

i tried mine too!
i ended up putting the new rom anyway with a different serial number and using the uspl flash mentioned above.
found the device to be faster and i got a better signal at home. did not know that it would void the warranty! sure you could get the orange rom back from a forum search and re-install it prior to being sent away

Dear Sir do you mean that if I get an Orange branded HD will I able
to unbranded it (which method I'll follow) and install any ROM I want
from HTC or custom?
I have also tried to update from the HTC web site but also fails to detect my serial number??
Anyone know of another serial number I can use to get the download or know where to download it from?
Do Orange usually release firmware updates for HTC's they sell?
Usually - but often months "late"
I wouldn't hold your breath for 6.5 either seeing as the HD doesn't have a windows button.
I'm keen on 6.5 too but don't want to invalidate any warranty I have.
Hello
I noticed a very annoying bug at my phone: sometimes when I end a call the phone function stalls (the icon on the upper bar shows conversation in progress)
The only way to use the phone function again is to soft reset it. Lately I get the same problem but without the icon that shows conversation in progress. During this time all the incoming calls are not prompted. Basically on the caller side my phone "rings" but my phone doesn't even notice the incoming call. This prevents me from receiving very important calls that affect my business.
I cannot upgrade my ROM (1.14.479.3 ) since there is no official version for my region.
Any of you have this problem ? Shall I bring it to service ?
Please tell me your thoughts
SR
seems like a software issue, which region is your phone in? have you tried updating your software through HTC website?
For Romania there is no official version released. I cant upgrade ROM/Radio without losing my warranty.
i had the same problem after installed a hot fix from HTC, even hard reset and reinstall the ICR program the phone just lockup when I made a call. I can talk in that call but the whole phone just won't response to any keys or touch screen. After 2 days playing around with countless hard reset I decided to flash the same ROM from computer and the problem seems gone now.

Sure you can You are currently using a WWE ROM right? You can use USPL or HSPL to flash a newer official WWE ROM. In the event you need to return the phone just flash the original ROM (and SPL) back to your phone and they will never know. The original ROM you are running now is available on the Wiki, and here is a direct link. If you need help flashing ROM's you can read the guide in my signature and post questions in that thread
On a side note- I have had that issue before as well. It does seem like a bug in some software on the ROM as flashing different ROM's seems to make it go away (or reappear )
My phone's screen stopped responding few weeks ago and I brought it to service. They changed its front side with a brand new one (I am not sure if the screen only because I even get better audio quality during calls). I am telling you this just to underline that when I took it back from service the ROM was flashed again (same version though) because the menus used to be in English and now they are in Romanian. So if I am not mistaking my hard resets + services ROM flashing (into the same version though ) didn't fix this issue.
@Digital Outcast:
I am aware that I am able to use a newer ROM. I read the wiki and I know how to do it but if for some reason what I mentioned above (screen completely stopped responding and it was changed) happens while the new ROM is on the phone I will lose my warranty.
Since I opened this issue I changed the sim with a newer one. The old one was 7 years old...
Thank you for your feedback and for letting me know I am not the only phone owner having this annoying bug.
As stated by Tnyynt on another thread
Official updates go by as original ROM, they install without HardSPL if there is an update for your version of the device, so if you have an Official ROM which you have flashed, there's no need to worry for warranty.

Basically, any of the official rom updates for your device available on HTC or wiki can be flashed to your phone without HSPL or USPL and will not void warranty.
I tried with this one but when I insert my serial it says its not available for my region.
http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=179&act=sd&cat=2
Still I managed to download it using some serial I found on the web. But when I started the flashing process it says its not meant for my phone and aborted
Is your phone branded? Did you get it new? I ask because it doesn't look like it was a WWE device...
I bought it brand new from an online store. I didn't buy it from a provider like Vodafone or Orange.
One of my colleagues bought it from Vodafone few days ago and he has exactly the same ROM version as I have. None of us is able to download the previously mentioned ROM version from HTC website using the imei.
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.14.479.3_Radio _52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship is the ROM you currently have on your phone. There are no "official" updates for your particular CID.
Your real only current choice if you want to flash a newer HTC ROM would be to use USPL or HSPL and flash another official WWE ROM. You could always flash back the original if you needed to return the phone for warranty purposes. Sorry bud.
Thanks for summing it up for me.
PS: changing the sim with a newer one did not help, in case somone wants to do this.
I recently bought my HTC HD2 from Vodafone UK, it has a ROM 1.43.405.1 and I cannot update the ROM from HTC website because after insert my SN in the validation box it tells me I cannot get the update....
What should I do?
I saw many ROMs on 4shared but I think they not the same in the HTC site...If they are which one of the should I get for my HTC and why? Will I be able to use my phone with my UK Sim?
Help please...
Windows on your ROM is licensed software, and you bought the license implicitly with your Leo, therefore is it "not possible" to just change ROM.
Having said that , google the forum a bit for SSPL and/or HSPL. there are several (graphical) guides that will tell you how to use them (sticky threads).
good luck!
anyone? someone? help me!

I thought that too but on 4shared they do not describe the features.
Any idea where can I see the features?
To put on other non mobile brand ROM, I must unlock the mobile first, right?
If that is the case, how do I unlock it?
If I put one ROM in the mobile and them upload another one will it delete the features from the one that was on the phone previously?
flashing roms is not connected to thee phone being network locked. it will still be locked after you flash it.
look for a world wide english rom version 1.66 (with 1.66 and wwe I'm the name)

No, doing a hard reset will only ever restore it to the rom you last flashed.
To get back to 'as you bought it' you need to find the rom that matches your device.
(for example in your case, voda UK, you find this rom
RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26. 50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe
)
If you then need to get back to stock, and remove HSPL, you can do it with that rom. (not quite as simple as just flashing it, , see the HSPL thread for how to remove HSPL)

Like I mentioned I am a noob lol....I got here just by trying to understand why couldnt I update my ROM.
One more question, each ROM completely cleans the before it, right? The features do not stuck up (add on)?
I would advise AGAINST blindly leeching any ROM from any online file sharer.
check this forum, read a bit, and select a ROM from a chef that has cooked something you like (speed, looks like stock, removed HTC, removed bloatware, etc etc). I've tried many, and almost all on this forum are excellent (some are more excellent than others though)..
Flashing a ROM completely cleans ALL settings on your phone, all data is gone, besides whatever is on your SD card.
same if you select Settings/Wipe Device option from the start menu.

Be aware that whilst flashing wipes all your old data/settings and such like, it doesn't necessarily wipe the old rom before flashing the new one, just flashes over it.
Roms can be different file sizes, (just compare a few RUU_Signed.nbh file sizes) so sometimes files can be left over from the previous rom. If you start getting random resets and freezes when you didnt before, it could be a sign of a bloated rom. Have a read of the mtty sticky. It looks a little overwhelming at first read, but dead simple really, and basically formats your rom before you flash the new rom.
my 2 pence here...
get the official WWE 1.66 ROM and see if that helps the phone, the 1.43 VF ROM is crap and both 1.48 and 1.66 are miles better so first thing is to give these a go. If, after successfully installing it, you wanna try something else then do so...
and read the n00b thread at the top of this forum...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
it tells you what to do, with videos if needed...
Hi, I have the same vf handset and was sick of the crappy ROM, I upgraded yesterday after weeks of research and was surprised how easy it was.
However, having had a day to test out my new 1.66 ROM, I have unfortunately found some problems and part of me think maybe I should have waited a little longer for vf to release it officially.
I'm hoping you guys will be able to help again as it may just need different tweaks to the settings...
1. The first problem is that Opera is slightly different, the settings tab has changed, it no longer allows zooming (including pinch zooming) and the pages are not displayed as full width. I have played with all the setting I can in Opera and BsB Tweaks but no joy.
2. I can no longer access TV catchup through Skyfire. The advertisement plays as normal and then it says "non-UK, unauthorised". Is this because it is a WWE ROM and not a UK one? Why isn't there a specific UK ROM like there was for 1.48?
3. Although the alarm volume bug seems to have been fixed, the alarm popup doesn't come up any more when it goes off, making it very difficult to "snooze" or "dismiss".
4. Several error messages have come up relating to the actual phone app, messaging app and audiomanager. The phone has also crashed and gone slow a bit and overall the messaging app is a little more buggy despite it appearing to send all messages.
Any advice would be much appreciated as this does seem as though it could be a much better ROM with some great benefits.
1.48 was also a WWE ROM - there hasn't been a set UK one other than ISP-based ones

Fair enough. I was just going by what it was implying on the HTC support page. 1.48 specifically says UK whereas 1.66 simply says WWE and makes no mention of UK.
Does anyone have any advice on the issues I'm having?
Also, if I wanted to revert back to the vf 1.43 ROM using the SD card to remove HSPL, how do I know the file I've downloaded from the shared folders is exactly the same as I had before? I read that it is more risky flashing without HSPL as you have less chance of fixing it if something goes wrong, does this also go for the method of reverting back using the SD card as it is removing the HSPL?
This may sound stupid but, is there any chance that guys from htc service see if I installed cooked roms(didn't change de spl) or any other kind of programs after I did a fresh install of the original rom? A friend of mine had the guarantee removed based on the fact that he installed iGo and that this software isn't accepted by HTC...

That is a tricky question. I've had a friend who did the exact same thing, he was flashing and flashing, and some day he needed to get something fixed (can't remember), and he flashed the original rom, and they didn't remove his guarantee. Lucky bastard
So, the answer to your question is, there is a chance, but it sholdn't be done
This should be fine as long as you do flash back to the original SPL and stock ROM image, including Radio version if you have flashed that also. As you mentioned, do not install any additional third-party software that would affect your warranty agreement.
Hi all,
i'm pretty much new to this community but i been following it for a while, cause i wanted to know as much as i could before buying a HD2.
so now i bought two HD2 in HongKong, since i am from austria i flashed both to ger roms.
i just used one to figuera all functions out n give it then to my wife. No i got my hands more on the second one, since i gave the first away, and there a some diffrences.
After a while searching in the forum there is a Rev. A and B. well the first is B the sec is A.
the first is: HT04J (as far as i got it right from the forum it means. 2010.04.11 rev. B)
second : HT9CP(2009.12.15)Rev. A
the only diffrence i noticed first is the battery, it just got a diffrent case. the keys are on both lil slapy, especially the volume ones.
the biggest diffrence is the vibration motor. on the Rev. B is it while typing realy smooth n nice.
on the Rev. B model it got a..i dunno kliring sound. well it just dosn't soudn right.
my questions now are, can i send the rev. a model for repair in n hope i got a rev. b back and if thats the case, then i guess i need to restore an original rom, radio, sspl?
could somebody help me there, what are the steps to doing it, if possible?
the model is a t8585 (CHT) what will happen if i send it in with the cooked rom?
best regards!
i recently sent mine in with a cooked rom and they never said anythin but they do re install oe's latest rom to rectify any software issues. however if you broke your charging port like me they wont do anything but
ALWAYS restore stock ROM before sending the phone for repair. If they find HSPL, in most cases they will charge you for repair for using "illegal software".
thats my problem, what are the steps to doing it?
or better, "what" rom is the stock rom for my phone, i found the WWE roms but none for CHT.
and then how i do it? will it be like
1st flash stocking rom ( if there is any for my phone)
2nd restore original radio
at last remove hspl?
btw, how do i remove hspl? just with the same software i did hspl? just install for example i had 1.44 on n now 1.66 hspl. and now i check 1.44 spl ?
thx so far
1st and only step is to READ THE FLASHING GUIDE, under the "To Remove HardSPL from your Device or Flash back a Stock Rom and Stock SPL for Warranty Purposes"...
SFR (French service provider) never complained when I accidentally sent mine back with HSPL still installed and from what I've read, they never do, so it probably depends on who you have to send it back to but considering the small amount of time and effort required you'd probably better go back to your stock ROM and SPL just to be on the safe side.
thx
i read that thread but never saw the flash back lines so thx
but how do i know what leo version i got?
