Help please!! - Galaxy S II General

I finally got my shiny new s2, turn it on and I get this
'Sorry! The application Status bar (process com.android.systemui) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again' With 'Force Close' under it.
It tries to load the status bar a couple of times then gives up so when my phone is going, there's no status bar at all. Please tell me this an easy fix as I really don't want to have to send it back...

Factory reset ( wipes all data so backup )

I'm able to force stop but it doesn't give me the option to clear data once I've done that. Tried rebooting without clearing data but it's still the same?

Force Close Error - Help Please

From Setting -> Sound and display -> System Volume/Ringer Volume I am getting the following error:
The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_2010090612216_com_android_settings.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log.
I want to change the volume of the power on/off sounds because they are stupendously loud. Can someone help me?
EDIT:
Had to flash the firmware. Its now working.
Thanks for the help.

Rooted unrooted ? Flash a new ROM or anything?
I'm rooted, haven't done any ROM flashing. The only noteworthy things I've done like that would be installing SetCPU (conservative; min 100 - max 1000), lag fix, gps fix, and I used Titanium back up to remove some bloatware.
Cheap fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759156 this removes the sounds that are made when you turn off and turn on the phone. Doesn't fix the FC though.
You can try Odining back to stock or flashing eugene's Vibrant Hybrid of Vibrant9 and that would probably fix the FC.
The audio removal thing failed, and I can't delete the .wav.
I didn't want to flash a ROM already because it is just my 3rd day with the one and I wanted to wait until a build that used the official Froyo build was made but I guess it flashing time unless there is another solution.
Did you try a factory reset?

If you have Rom Manager installed (and you should) open it, select FIX PERMISSIONS....let it finish...and reboot...and see if the problem goes away..
The Rom manager trick didn't work.
I'll try factory reset.
EDIT:
What persistence. Still getting the error. I just I will flash.
EDIT 2:
Can someone tell me which I need to use to get my phone back in its original condition.

You should look for an email you just received that may be corrupted somehow. If you figure out which one, try to delete the email (online). I got similar messages repeatedly after I created a Google contact on line and it appeared in my phone's contacts. I had left the year off the person's birthdate and apparently there's a bug in the Vibrant such that it chokes and core dumps when it encounters an empty year field. I deleted the contact (on line, because I couldn't get to it on the phone without force closing) and the problem went away.
I don't know if you're still having this problem but I too just had a similar issue. Long story short I found out that my volume was force closing because somehow my notifications sound didn't have any sound associated to it. Once I changed that I was able to access the volume settings again.
I also get force close errors on my phone (Vibrant from bell Canada) I sent it for repairs about 6 weeks ago... They flat out replaced the phone after 4~ weeks of waiting! Now after 2~ weeks of use its getting all kinds of force close errors AGAIN!

Remove Voicemail Notification Icon (Temporary Solution)

First off, I apologize if this has been stated or known by most of the communinty.
Anyway, here is a way to remove the voicemail notification from the Status Bar & the pull down menu......
(Unfortunately, this is NOT a permanent fix - the notification comes back after rebooting)
I did this through using "MyBackup Pro" app...
Tap on "MyToolbox"
Expand "System Apps"
Find & Check Mark: Phone/Messaging Storage (I did this with Phone as well for good messure - might not be necessary though)
Click: Wipe Cache & Wipe Data
Notification should now be gone!
Note:
stilesja fix method is better (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480833), but this will do the trick as well until a permanent fix is available.
I hope this may be a help to some of you!
You could just go to the "Phone" app in Settings > Apps and just clear data or even force stop it if the option is there. And yes, this is pretty well known.
Good effort though
I'll be updating my transparent indicator for beta 0 this weekend. But a note on this force stopping or clearing phone data. When I was doing that I noticed calls would randomly not show callerid which was more annoying to me than a vm notification. Ymmv however.

[Q] CM10 problem with the dialer

Hi,
I have a problem with CM10. Everytime that I want to access the option menu of the dialer, this one force closes stating "com.android.phone has stopped". and when I press ok, it goes back to the pin code screen. I'd also like to mention that the dialer takes more than one second to open up.
My kernel is 2.6.32.9-g79d818c. I had also this problem coming from stock gb french.
I have already tried wiping cache, dalvik and even fixing permissions. Am I the only one with this problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks for reading.

Pin code screen? Have you tried disabling the pin?
I have just tried your suggestion. But I still have the FC of the dialer when I go into its settings. The difference is that the phone disconnects and reconnect without asking for the pin. So it did not solve the problem. Thanks anyway
By the way, apart form this everything works pretty fine. I can call, receive call, send sms + many other smartphone stuff of course...

Data button problem

HI,
i cannot access data from settings(notifications drop down). Data button has been deleted, how to restore it. When i want to enable data always i need to go to sim settings and enable it.
Hey, I've been facing the same issue. Basically, it happens when signal is low/unavailable, and then on reconnection, the mobile data quick-setting tile disappears.
The simplest, quickest fix I've seen is just to enable and disable Airplane mode every time it happens.
Data button problem in MOTO G$ Plus
In system UI tuner it apperars but there it is not visible.

Yes, exactly. It just disappears sometimes. Did you try toggling Airplane Mode? That fixes it for me.

Have the same issue, try reboot your G4. The reboot will fix the problem.

try from System UI Tuner.
If that does not work and reboot does not work, then unfortunately u have to factory reset.

Hold Settings icon in Notification Bar..it'll give one Pop to access 'System UI Tuner', accept it. Then you can find that Settings Icon will change in notification bar.
In Settings at bottom a new menu will be added 'System UI Tuner' , in that select 'Quick Settings'..there you can add for Data...
-----No Root Required----
Added but same repeats
Got it in status bar, but u don't know how
