Remove Voicemail Notification Icon (Temporary Solution) - Epic 4G General

First off, I apologize if this has been stated or known by most of the communinty.
Anyway, here is a way to remove the voicemail notification from the Status Bar & the pull down menu......
(Unfortunately, this is NOT a permanent fix - the notification comes back after rebooting)
I did this through using "MyBackup Pro" app...
Tap on "MyToolbox"
Expand "System Apps"
Find & Check Mark: Phone/Messaging Storage (I did this with Phone as well for good messure - might not be necessary though)
Click: Wipe Cache & Wipe Data
Notification should now be gone!
Note:
stilesja fix method is better (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480833), but this will do the trick as well until a permanent fix is available.
I hope this may be a help to some of you!

You could just go to the "Phone" app in Settings > Apps and just clear data or even force stop it if the option is there. And yes, this is pretty well known.
Good effort though

I'll be updating my transparent indicator for beta 0 this weekend. But a note on this force stopping or clearing phone data. When I was doing that I noticed calls would randomly not show callerid which was more annoying to me than a vm notification. Ymmv however.

N9005 - Cerberus / Avast Ant-theft - Hiding the location / GPS icon

Hi,
I've just rooted my n9005 and installed cerberus in system-apps so that it doesn't get wiped out on factory reset. I am using the stock 4.4.2.
1) The problem is that every time I try to track my phone the GPS icon pops up in the notification bar. Moreover, when I roll down the notification bar and press the location tab, it shows some suspicious app trying to get access to the location (System Framework) which may alert the thief. Is there any way to get rid of the location/GPS icon and hide it in the location settings?
2) Is there a way to prevent the thief from flashing a new rom? I remeber reading about some usb-debugging lock but not sure how helpful that would be.
Thanks

I KEEP losing my "clear all" recent apps (search bar too) - Is there a permanent fix?

I KEEP losing my "clear all" recent apps (search bar too) - Is there a permanent fix?
My clear-all recents [X] keeps disappearing.....It starts with the search bar disappearing in the recents screen, then shortly thereafter, the [X] disappears.
I know there's a temporary fix for this by booting into safe mode and re-starting (and I've done this each time)... But after 5 times in less than 4 weeks, this is getting old having to re-setup defaults, widgets, and Dropbox (a few other things too).
Does anybody know what is causing this or if there is a permanent fix I've overlooked?
I had faced this issue once.... The only way recovered is reset the phone.. i know its very annoying but i could not find any other way. May be you can speak with Oneplus customer support and see if they have any fix.
I'm also facing same issue but don't think so that there is any permanent fix for this. Maybe a future OTA update will fix it. Till the time you if you want the "clear all" button and If you are rooted than you can use Gravity box.
Same thing happened to me as well. I did something different.
Just stopped clearing app and let android do the lmk, as needed.
This just happened to me. After installing the latest update to the Google app and rebooting the phone, the search bar and clear all button in the recent apps panel were gone.
Incredibly how buggy OOS is ... I thought leaving Huawei was a good idea ...
UPDATE: Fixed it by rebooting into safe mode and then rebooting "normally" again, though I had to set up all my accounts again after that.

Notifications and other functionalities disappeared: nothing works to fix it

Hello everyone!
First, I'm sorry for my English. I'll try to do my best to be clear and not too painful to read.
I post here tonight because my Moto X XT1562 is very messy. It's totally buggy actually.
The WHAT:
Some functionalities just disappeared. Here is some:
- Notifications aren't displayed at all. The notification bar stay empty, even when I swipe it down. Notification sounds are OK however.
- The quick settings panel isn't displayed... When I swipe down the right side of the top bar, there is only the notification bar who appear (empty...) like if I swiped down the left side. Nothing happens neither with a Nova widget for example to launch the activity corresponding to the quick settings panel.
- The Home button and the Menu app button do not works. When I touch them, they respond (they are circled by a halo and the phone vibrate) but don't produce anything.
- Some entries are missing in Settings like the entry to configure the quick setting panel. Also, some entries are displayed but when I touch them nothing happens, like the "Users" entry. Moreover, in "Backup & Reset > Factory data Reset" the "Reset Phone" button stay grey (unavailable).
- The "Developers options" menu isn't available neither. In this case, I had a toast with something like: "Developers options are not available for this user". In my actual configuration (spoiler: aka after flashing a new ROM), I can't activate the developers options at all.
- Probably other things but I'm not sure it matter. Apps work great however, even if there are now some force close. And just to be clear: it's not a touch screen issue.
So my phone is still usable, but it's not handy at all. Specially the fact that I can't go on the Home screen with the home button or switch between opened apps with the app button.
The WHEN:
These is happens after I try to move data that were on the sdcard in the internal storage through the built in tool in the storage settings. In fact, my sdcard (used like "internal storage") was almost full and my true internal storage with some space. I knew all my sdcard data could not go on my internal storage, but I thought Android could deal with that and will only transfer a part of these data. BUMMER. Anyway, during the process the phone had reboot and then the mess happens: internal storage was overfull, sdcard still full too, duplicate data were on both, etc. And of course, the previous bugs came. I deleted data manually (primarily pictures) and used the phone a couple of days like this.
Just so you know and because I suspect an perm issue, I have to add that a couple days before this episode, I also tried to create a second android user through the Users setting. But nothing happens after the asked reboot. I didn't insist.
The WHAT-THE-****:
- First, I was suspecting that the last boot didn't work properly because the internal storage was full. So after I made some space on the device I rebooted: nothing.
- After I delete all my pictures on the sdcard, I launch the data migration process to give it a new chance to finish properly. It did, but... nothing.
- I tried to wipe dalvik cache and the regular cache through TWRP: nothing.
- Like I suspected a permission issue, I tried to "Fix Contexts" with TWRP. Nooooothing.
- Very confident, I tried a factory reset through the Android settings but it was unavailable. So I did it in the bootloader. But... NOTHING!
- Well, I decided to flash again my ROM (XDRom) but I chose the last build to upgrade it. Flashing a new ROM replace most of the files so that MUST work. Guess what? Nothing!!
- Desperate, I tried to flash/upgrade the squid kernel. But No-****ing-thing... :crying:
I have no idea how it's possible. So if someone has encountered something similar or knows how that can happen, please, tell me.
I'm using TWRP, Squid Kernel r19 and the ROM XDR 24.107-52-5 (Android 6.0.1). Right now, my phone isn't rooted but it was when it happened. I was also using Xposed with Gravitybox and XBlastTools.
Thanks to everybody!

If you're using XDrom you need to root it and use XDRsetup app that comes with it (you can also download it separately, link is in XDR'S thread). This will fix all your issues
Your phone is not provisioned. You can fix this by re-running the setup wizard activity using Activity Launcher.
I've been seeing this issue pop up on several Moto devices since last few months, even on my own device.
EDIT: XDROM thread mentions this on the thread clearly
Use XDR Setup app after first boot to provision the device (unlock UI, Developer's options, screen lock, etc.)

Well, thanks so much everybody. Sorry for my late answer. You're right, my phone wasn't "provisioned". I wasn't aware at all about this not-a-bug-but-a-feature. It sounds still strange for me and it's surprising that this "issue" appears by itself but whatever, it's fix. Thanks again!

Mobile data turned off notification removal

If you toggle data on and then off, a notification appears saying
"You will no longer be able to use applications such as Internet, Email, or other apps that require a network connection, unless you connect to wifi etc."
The message however remains there even with Wifi on.
There is no option to clear the notification and then an Icon appears in the top left hand corner reminding you of the fact.
That top left corner of the screen is usually used for many other temporary notifications which can now no longer be displayed.
If the phone is started with data off then everything works as it did with Android 6 until data is toggled again.
Anyone know how to get rid of this notification?
I actually have found this to be a nice change, as toggling on data after turning it off, is much easier now. That being said, a normal toggle like wifi or bluetooth has, would be much preferred. Dont know how to get rid of the notification, other than restarting the phone with data off (like you said).
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I miss this data on/off toggle feature from the quick menu that I had on my LG G3 and other earlier Android phones.
I now use the usage manager widget on my home page or edge menu to toggle data on and off.
I have reached out to my contacts at AT&T to try and find out why they did this and if they intend to make this notification selectable like almost every other one is.
Hasn't ATT been doing this for a long time? I had to add the data toggle via root and script edit on my old ATT note 3 I remember.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers Legacy app
It's not the absence of the quick toggle I am talking about here it's the fact that a notification comes on when you turn data off but there's no way to remove the notification once it appears or a setting to stop it from appearing at all.
I have the same issue. It only started after I downloaded and installed the Android 7.0 update late last week.
Did anybody find a solution to this yet? This can be quite frustrating as I just switched from an international s7 edge and that even had a mobile data notification toggle. Thanks in advance!
After you toggle data off, reboot the phone. It goes away for me after a reboot.

Kill the phone app
It's a bit cumbersome but better than rebooting / restarting.
Slide the 'data off' notification right to expose the gear icon
Click gear
Click green 'phone'
Now 'force stop' the phone app
I know it sounds scary but this works (until the next time you enable & disable data).
Yeah I've got the same complaint with my S7, can't slide off or clear the notification after turning data off unless you restart. Let us slide the option off. I want a button I can just click to turn on/off data. "OH WAIT, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME AND CONVENIENT, WE CAN'T DO THAT!" -Samsung
I hate this notification
Is doing this too harmful for the phone app? I just got a Galaxy S7 that had AT&T as a carrier, but I'm not on the AT&T network. I just tried a hack from XDA that allowed me to get the mobile data toggle but the notification started popping up when i disabled data. It's very annoying but I haven't found any other ways of disabling it. I just want to know if force stopping the phone would be bad for me in the long run. I'm wondering why i upgraded if it was going to be so much trouble.

anybody got some way of disabling that annoying notification?I have S8 Active AT&T,i am on android 8,there is an option in notifications settings to disable it,but it wont work,it should be AT&T ****,all i am able to do is to slide notification to the right and get settings gear and notification icons, choosing ringbel lets me snooze it for max 2 hours, not completely off.Maby there is some way to disable it with permission via ADB,as i did it without root to add more language and enable Mobile data toggle, which was not present.Maby there is some genius that can help with that,i am ready to donate for that help
On my Note 9, Android 10, oneui 2.5:
1. Go to settings.
2. Search for "Call Settings".
3. Tap "Call settings" under "Apps>Apps info".
4. Under "App settings" tap "Notifications ".
5. Under "Other" tap on "Mobile networks ".
6. Slide "Minimize notifications" to on.
7. Say "Thank you".
Nothing work for me, using S21 5G, Android 13, OneUI 5

How To Prevent System Update - and get rid of notification?

I have a ZB602KL which is now rooted with TWRP and Magisk. It is on Android 8.1 and I keep getting notification about FOTA updates - sometimes a really HUGE one. I am not really interested in the update and want to turn this all off. I did something similar long ago on my old Note phone but doubt that would work here. Any suggestions? Thanks

Go to settings>apps>show system app>FOTAupdate. Force stop the app. Now the notification will not bug you till the next time you restart your phone.

i remembered in old version android once you make them force stop they wont run again till u start manually
Enable developer settings.
In developer settings, scroll down to the last. Somewhere towards the last, you'll find a setting called background check, enter this setting, scroll down to FOTA service and turn off its background check.
Go back in settings to apps and notifications. Select all apps and select show system apps from the three dot menu. Scroll down to FOTA settings and turn off background activity for the app (this is under battery settings).
