I recently rooted my nexus s and loaded up NSCollab.
After successfully flashing I cannot connect to mobilicity network! I've tried to do manual search for network but all I see is
Rogers Wireless
302320
302490
Mobiclity does not pop up and I've tried more than 10 times. I tried to load another ROM (MIUI 1.7) but I still can't connect.
HELP!!!!
you do know rogers and mobility use different cell bands, right?

What he's seeing is Rogers' 2G network.
OP:
What I suggest is go to your dialer and hit *#*#4636#*#* which will take you to a test menu. Hit "Phone Information," scroll down, "Set preferred network type" to WCDMA.
Also check your coverage area. I live by the lake and when I tried out Mobilicity I had ZERO reception. The frequency they run on has weak building penetration. I had dropped calls at Bay and Queen.
I figured it out. The network ID 302320 is actually Mobilicity.....I'm not sure why it appears this way when I updated ROM's but that's how it is.
Once I connected to 302320 all is good.
Thanks guys for the help!

I am looking for a way to update the "Phone Settings Network" dialog on my new Advantage 7501 to include the features I have on my HP ipAQ 6945. On my iPAQ have options to do a Manual Network Selection where it will find all the available networks in range, not just the AT&T ones. Why is this important to me? Well I live in an area where the nearest Cingular/AT&T tower is over 15 miles away, however I am in what they call a "Partner" coverage area where I can connect to a Cellular One tower that is about 4 miles away. This way I can get 4 bars signal inside my home where if I can try to connect to the AT&T net using typical cell phones, I get 2 bars to none. Since both these devices are made by HTC there must be a way I can move the needed code off my iPAQ to the Advantage. The iPAQ with this manual net selection is the only phone I can use at home. I was hoping the Advantage would include a similar capability.
Can anyone point me the right direction?

Go to Start/setting/personal/phone, and go to the network tab. There you can manually select your preferred service provider.
Is this what you are looking for?
No, the display shows Current Network: AT&T and only a "Find Network" box. There is no option to look for anything else but AT&T. Maybe this is limitation arising from the AT&T SIM card I am using.
My iPAQ screen gives me a Network Selection box with "Automatic" and "Manual" options. If I select "Manual" and "Find Network" I get a list of all available cell towers within range, and then can pick one. Where I am I see "Cingular" and "Cell One DCS". I pick the Cellular One tower as it is a partner site and there are no roaming charges even thought the little roaming symbol ( a pyramid) shows up at the top.
I'll try switching SIM cards and see if that makes a difference. Well changing SIM cards made no difference except that it lists "Cingular" instead of "AT&T"
The Network Selection box with auto and manual options is there on my 7501 too. I didn't think that would be affected by your sim card.
Hey, just a thought -- did you switch to true VGA, and is the box just not showing up because of that?
I tried a Hard Reset and still do not get a network selection option. It may be due one of the CAB files that is run during the device setup that changes the US version. I'll try calling HTC Support.
Called HTC and was told that the AT&T SIM locks out the option to do a Network Selection. He tried a T-Mobile SIM in his Advantage and it came up with the Network Selection option. He "hinited" that I would have to do a CID unlock perhaps to get around AT&T's SIM restrictions, but couldn't tell me to do it would as it void the warranty.
I tried the HTC Network Wizard (Google for it) and it only allows you to set up your phone for a couple of possible providers.
We both agreed that I probably have files on my iPAQ 6945 that if I could identify them and transfer them to my Advantage I might get around this restriction.
He said he would contact AT&T and see if they have any way to get around this. What happens if you travel outside the US and try to use the phone on another network (huge roaming charges!!!) in an emergency?
I don't quite have the courage to try the CID unlocker on my brand new Advantage yet. Has anyone done this?

ATT sims do LOCK that option. All other att phones like 8525, 8125, blackjack, etc are missing that option too.

I was under the impression that CiD unlock would fix that too but that's not true.
It's just that Some (Unofficial) Roms ignore that but most of official roms like yours dont.

Att doesn't have this restriction on all the networks. This restriction is based on the country codes. Att has restriction on US, canada, and mexico.
So if you are not in those countries you will have that option available to you.

Dont because it wont help.
To be quite honest with you I dont know how you could do it on your previous phone because Att blocks that option on the network side. Even if you did change your network succesfuly on the phone, it'd still be rejected by the network.
The only thing that I can think of is that your Ipaq couldn't find a good ATT signal and connected to a patner's tower instead.
And your Advantage either gets a better gsm signal or gets a decent umts signal and connects to cingular 3g.
Try forcing the phone to operate only on the gsm network from under the band tab see if that makes a difference.
and also what is your zip code?
You can enable "Find Network" by changing the following registry key.
HKLM\Security\Phone\ManualDisable=0
That will display the network selection option and you wont void your warranty or anything like that.
It just goes away after a soft reset.
Check this thread here for more info on that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284201&highlight=manual+network+selection
Thanks for your response. The registry edit did indeed turn on the Network Selection. Going to Manual selection it finds "Cell One DCS" just like my iPAQ does, but when I select it I get the message "Cannot register on selected network. Choose another network, or disconnect your data connection and try again."
I have been connecting for over a year with my iPAQ to "Cell One DCS" with NO roaming charges. I guess AT&T doesn't want me to use the partner network. My ZIP is 76692 and I am located near the bridge over Lake Whitney.
There is obvious a difference in the software on the iPAQ and Advantage that is causing this to happen. I just checked the latest AT&T coverage maps and see they don't show a Partner coverage anymore.
I have installed an outside yagi antenna and signal repeater at my home so I do get a signal sometimes, but not a reliable signal.
We travel a lot so I still find AT&T coverage to be good in most places, and my iPAQ still works here now.
That's strange.
I got an ipaq 6915 from cingular and with cingular sims it pretty much does the same thing and disables network selection.
Do you have a custom rom on your 6945?
When you boot it up do you get the cingular logo?
Plus at your zip code it seems like you are far away from any cingular towers.
The only thing that I can think of is that your ipaq just doesn't find a good cingular signal, and connects to a different network.
When you do a network search on your ipaq does it actually detect Cingular as an available network? When you connect to cingular from your ipaq how many bars do you get?
I've always thought there nothing special about my 6945, but I guess there is! When I do a Network Selection on it I see both the Cingular tower AND the Cellular One tower signals. I have tried this in other locations and see several different networks (e.g., T-Mobile, and five digit numbers).
I've tried both my old Cingular SIM and a new AT&T SIM, and they both work the same in my iPaq 6945. Interesting!!! But neither will allow me to select the Cellular One tower on my new Advantage.
You are probably right about country codes for on recent cruise with stops in Grand Cayman and Cozumel the Advantage would show networks other than Cingular.
I am sorry I didn't reply earlier, but I was visiting family in Virginia this weekend. It was neat to see an "H" connection appear while sitting in DFW. Only get "E" connections out in the sticks where I live.
Dave
Oh, I should have mentioned that the 6945 is an unlocked phone from HP and is not customized for Cingular. As far as signal strength I have a cell repeater installed in my home so I get anywhere from no bars to 4 bars on that Cingular tower that is at least 15 miles away. My Cellular One is consistently 4 bars. I live in a steel framed home with a metal roof. Before I got the repeater I was using a booster amp and plugging an external antenna into my iPAQ and RAZR V3 to get a usable signal. This kept me tethered in my computer room (ugh!). When I got the 6945 and found I could manually select the Cellular One tower I then had a phone I could use throughout my home.
Several years ago I started with a simple Nokia phone before Cingular had a tower in the area, and always connected "Cingular Extend" which I now know was the near by Cellular One tower. As soon as Cingular put up their tower I have been unable to connect with the Nokia, Razr V3, and new Motorola V577.
Some of my neighbors have terminated their Cingular service because of this lack of connected to the so call "Partner" coverage.
Hello, I am having trouble getting 3G working on my x10i. I have read through these forums and tried every apn settings I could find but still it only uses edge. T-mobile customer service tells me i have great 3g coverage in my area but that since its a non-tmobile phone it will not use 3G. Is this true or can anyone help? Right now im using epc.tmobile.com as my apn, data roaming on, and MMS & data turned on. Need more info just let me know.Thx for any help
check your sony ericsson xperia x10 box on the side, see if it said UMTS is saying "AWS1/AWS4/AWS8" if you are missing AWS4, then you will not be able to use T-mo USA 3G because T-mobile UMTS (3G) bandwidth frequency is 900 (AWS1) / 1700 (AWS4) / 2100 (AWS8)
i had a similar problem when my T-Mobile 3G constantly switched to Edge even when i had good coverage, i found this solution somewhere and it helped me, since then i was never dropped from 3G unless i had no bars... i would give this a try for your problem too.
1) enter in dialer the following: *#*#4636#*#*
2) select phone Information
3) press the menu button (left bottom hard key)
4) Select Radio Band
5) Select USA Band
6) Reboot Phone
This will narrow down your phone to USA 3G only, (if leaving the country you should switch back to automatic to get international 3G coverage), i found this also helpful for 3G speed and battery performance.

I doubt cause tmobile told you that your coverage is okay, it might be that you have an old sim card with no support for 3G, or Would say your phone is defective…

try go to setting --->wireless controls --->Mobile Networks ----> Network mode
and select WCDMA only
see if it go back to 3G signal. For my area sometimes i stay on edge due to signal blocked by building walls....
by the way, will you get 3G signal when you are outside of your house or in a wide open area?
When i choose WCDMA i lose my cell signal completely. I have tmobile service but In my area it is always using centennial wireless towers for my signal, centennial was bought out by AT&T which have not yet switched their new towers to 3G yet. Could this be the problem? Thx

Sounds like you found the issue. If WCDMA only shows no signal at all, it means you do not have T-Mobile 3G in your area (I suspect the 1700 spectrum).
It looks like there is a roaming agreement in which T-mobile can "borrow" the AT&T tower. So, all you get is the GSM signal. Don't bother to wait for AT&T to get the tower to 3G...because, you know, it won't be the same 3G signal as T-mobile. AT&T operates 3G on 850 and 1900.
If that is the issue, maybe you have to switch to a X10a.
When i choose US band it says its unsuccessful? any ideas why???
Anyone have this problem? It happens ever time

Hmm.... seems like your phone might be in WCDMA mode only... It should be in WCDMA-Preferred since you plan on using 3G and 2G
Go to your phone dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*
and Diagnostics Menu should come up..... Go to PHONE INFORMATION.... Scroll down and Set Network Type to: WCDMA Preferred
see if that helps...
Thanks for the reply i am on tmobile and it is defaulted to GSM. Will changing it be any different than GSM?
my phone does that as well right now at home even though i have it on WCDMA preferred, t-mo has been having issues with their 4G towers and their DNS servers lately that has been affecting many people with newer phones/SIM cards and in 4G areas, t-mo has not released an ETA on a fix but i have been dealing with it for a month now at my home and i am about ready to switch carriers

Nope, it'll still be the same. WCDMA-Preferred means that then phone will Prioritize 3G/4G signal over an EDGE signal. So If you are in a decent 4G/3G coverage the phone will set itself into 3G/4G mode... and when you move into an area where you have a weaker 3G/4G signal...t han the phone will be in EDGE mode.
Keep in mind that if you're referring about using WCDMA Preferred in a 3G/4G coverage area - but only 2G works - then you have a network issue. This isn't so much a device issue as it is a MSISDN issue on the network or a potential tower issue.
If you get no signal on 3G/4G and signal is there on 2G - check your coverage first - then if coverage shows you should have 3G/4G, call TMO and let them know, they'll need to do a service request or trouble ticket based on the location and breadth of the issue you're having.

yeah reception isn't so great as dvp users have found. The antenna seems to be at the bottom left on the side if you are looking at the front of the phone (i.e. near back button). So make sure you don't block that area or even use the otterbox case if signal is weak there.
FYI if your phone is locked it would let you know when you turned it on with an unsupported sim in it... Hmm make sure your network at least supports GSM or the right 3g frequency if network is 3g capable only.
Network unavailble the cellular network you selected bisunavaible . would you like to select anoter network?

Did you wait a bit after bootup? You gotta let it sit for a while to get all the networking stuff figured out.
Since Wind is 3G only, maybe make sure you have the right APN settings under the "Connection Settings" app? Otherwise, I hope you don't have the wrong DVP version... you need the T-Mobile/AWS version to have it running on Wind (not the ATT). If you can only roam (GSM only), it might be that it can't see the 3G frequencies.

Hi everyone. I have a Leeco Pro 3 X727. I am on Firmware 20s I am having issues to get 4G/LTE signal.
First thing, In my City there is 4G signal, even a couple a days ago I went to my carrier and change my Sim for the newset, just in case.
The last Rom where I had LTE signal IICR was AEX5.4 around May's days. After I changed to CDroid, then to DotsOS... Whatever all I can get its H+ signal. Couple a days ago I change to Carbon Rom 6.1 (Oreos) and the first install, in the configuration I get LTE, but after change to Wifi for finish install all apps, I cant get LTE again. I flashed back Dots, Cdroid and I am now and AEX5.7 and I I have the same issue, just 3G/H+, not LTE or 4G. Also, after flashing firmware 20S I get LTE signal for a While so I think that is not the problem...
I tried almost all APN setting and Nothing. Chang Rom, change Recovery, change Kernel... Nothing just 3g/H+.... My friends with same Carrier have LTE signal...
So, is there anything I can do...? Flash any app, setting?
Help please.

Nothing. Still "Orange 3G" and conexión icon show H+.
Honestly, I'd say something is wrong with your phone or wrong with your cell towers. The only LTE Band that Orange/Altice supports in DR is B3 (sorta strange that there's only one band, but for a relatively small country I suppose it doesn't matter) and the LEX727 and LEX720 both have band 3, as well as the only GSM(3g)/UMTS(4g) bands that Orange/Altice supports (that being GSM:1800/1900 and UMTS B8 (900GSM)) At first my assumption was that Orange/Altice was a CDMA network, but as far as I can see, there are no CDMA networks in DR!
Edit: download the speedtest app, and see if you're getting the same speeds as a phone that shows it's connected to LTE. If you are, there's no issue besides the phone reporting the connection wrong. If you're slower, though...

Oh! I think I know the issue! When I looked at Orange's website (trying to find network specs, which strangely for a network that supports BYOD, they don't have listed, or at least I couldn't find it) I saw that they have subscribers pay for data, as is standard practice in the US (where I live). But the thing that caught my eye is that you also pay for speed.
So... Let me take a guess here. You pay either RD$1499 Or RD$1349 for their 5mbps unlimited plan?
Basically, my assumption is that if you're paying for one of their lower speed tiers, they put you on a 4g or 3g network to save LTE bandwidth for the people who pay more than you.
Tell me if any of this sounds familiar... I feel like I may've found your problem!
